Speaking of new engines. Can anyone help me ID this engine? Jeffery, I know you know a lot about Blue Box Engines, can you help? I really should not be thinking about messing with this one, I have way newer engines I should work on. But I have a OLD Athearn Blue Box Delaware & Hudson PA and I love the Colors. I am guessing it is from the 60's or 70's (Hum, I am old, the 70's don't seem that long ago to me ) Side frames are metal, wheels are steel, worm gear cover is 2 pieces, coupler pockets are on the trucks and front truck has the headlight mounting is in the trucks frame?
I like to get her running again, I have motors and I think the need drive shafts. But, I am afraid I will build a decoder eater. Gears are full or dried hard grease, I think I need to pull the bottom truck plates then the side frame to get to the gears for cleaning. I have never seen a engine quite like this one.
Simon I think you like a challenge, it is the engine that sits on my computer screen.

Flo, just a decaf for me.... Been trying not to over eat all day and have been a complete failure as my Blood Sugar shows.......
Spent much of the day over at my son's house with the DIL's family. BBQ Ribs, Tater Salad, Macaroni Salad, Baked Beans, Potato Chips, Sweet Tea (which I did avoid), and S'mores for dessert later in the afternoon. The other Grandpa is in town for the birth of Grandchild #3. My DIL's sister will be having a son tomorrow morning... C section. So the Granddaughters were getting a lot of extra attention. My son is still trying to clear the down trees out of the front yard. i offered to come over and help this week, but Grandma will at the other daughters house helping with the little one most of the week so son will be alone watching the kids. I may go over for a couple hours later in the week and just cut and store the small brush for him. Most of the front lawn has yet to be mowed...........

W**k has not been ridiculous today just steady. We picked up a breeze during the afternoon so the heat was bearable today.
I have only had a 1 night stay in the hospital back in 2001 when they did a 23 hour workup for chest pain (nothing found). They did say my aterial O2 sat was low but even now my SpO2 reads marginally low, don't know why. I haven't smoked in 25 years. Just one of lifes mysteries.

Work Front, Boy I am Glad Shaun Was With Me Today! Other wise I would have went stir crazy! Only 2 customers today, that was it 2? Total that went out the door was only $440.00 in new sales. Only bright spot was 2 deals I did not think would go out this month will be out this month. So I still stand a fighting chances to get the $1,000.00 Bonus.
Packer When you say beat up, long as they run fine I am OK with that. Do you run DCC? If I remember correctly you want High Quality SD40-2's right? That leaves out the Athearn POS RTR I have. It is a in Santa Fee Freight War Bonnet paint. Hand rails need some work and 1 or 2 maybe missing, but most are there. I have the details parts still in the bag. It all so has the roof beacon that works when it feels like it.
While it has never ate a decoder the motor bearing are going bad and make a racket. Oil them up and it quiets down for awhile. I have some used motors that Model Builder gave me, but they will need there flywheels changed. The coupling on the rear worm gear that holds the drive shaft should be changed. Some times the drive shaft pops out. It does pull well, I have added some weights, that why the yoke got wrapped.
Let me know what you want for 1 and both engines and if they have decoders. I all so have a SD 50 SP RTR run if you could use it. I will send a motor with it. To be honest it been a problem engine from Day 1 off E Stupid.

I Do Work For A Good Company. With us being as dead as we where with only 2 customers, and my store and Game Stop being the only stores open in the strip mall we are located they lets us close at 6:00 PM and not 8:00 PM.

While I have been in the hospital the food has been good stuff to eat. Our local hospitals pride themselves on having good things to eat.
The only time I had trouble was when I was a "mush" diet. EVERYTHING WAS PUREED. I didn't quite need a straw or have my jaw wired shut, but was on a "mush diet" after being on clear liquids for awhile. The "Mush" that was "meat", for example, tasted like your description of butter earlier, Ulrich, only from an elephant.
ASK if they have an "alternative menu" you can choose from. Over here they do.
The other thing may be that they feed you horribly so you go home faster! Either that or so you loose weight.
And ALL my nurses have looked like that. Only in this country {the USA} can a fat, overweight, smoker of a nurse get away with telling the patient, " you need to loose weight"!!!!!! TAlk about the stove calling the kettle black!
Just try and relax Ulrich, or you'll give yourself a coronary!

Germany was in the news. Soon, they will end nuclear power production. Ulrich already told us Germany does not have coal power plants. Makes me wonder about Germany. I suppose they will need many squirrels on treadmills to generate electricity.
On the layout, I have almost completed my building materials supplier complex with scenery. Recent industries are my large bakery, my scrap yard, my power house, and now my building materials supplier. Also, I did the trestle in the above photo.
My 91-year-old Mom may be adjusting to her new home OK. Saturday morning, I called her and asked if she attended the Friday evening Bingo game. She said "No". Instead she was asked at dinner to watch a movie in a man's apartment with him. That's what she did.
Alos, when I was there last week, I attended a monthly "Town Hall" meeting where the management explains the latest news about the facility. Next, they answer questions from the residents. One of the elderly ladies had a major complaint. She said, she gets no prune juice at breakfast be cause they run out of iy before she can have it. ...... Now, that could be quite a problem.

Good Afternoon Diners! Was later than usual getting to the computer because we unplugged all the household electronics (including the DCC power source) due to a morning thunderboomer episode. It never got closer than six miles, but the surges are no respecter of distance, I understand. Yes we have surge protectors, but it isn't hard to unplug everything, and then we know we're better protected. BTW, what's a "Whole House" surge protector?

Galaxy Quest 2: Son of Kwan - a scifi epic in which Kwan is beamed out of a Guantanamo Bay holding cell by his inter-species son (who looks like a young Doctor Lazurus) and his companion/bodyguard (a large Rock monster) and transported to the stealthed shipyards. It is here we learn - by the longest flashback - that this youngster is indeed named Lazarus and has travelled into the past using the Omega Molecule where he set up a small Television company and financed a barely watchable scifi series called Galaxy Quest...The Casting of actors for the series becomes a who's who of noobs until he discovers a young wannabe stunt man named Jason Nezbith. Yeah...I can go for that.
I'll say TTFN, and either swap out sideframes on the Atlas GP 7s (new acquisition runs silent but is Ungraciously Pervasive, so silver sideframes) Older CN painted has noisy trucks but weathered black. So, I'm going to see if the silent UP truck mechanism remains silent in the CN frames. ...or I might just crawl back to bed and nurse the cold, as I did yesterday about this time.

This morning, I had the honor of covering one of four Memorial Day observances in North Liberty. Since then, I've edited/processed the pics and even got one sent to THAT Editor so she'll have a (hopefully) front page pic handy when she goes to put the paper together tomorrow morning.
ULRICH: Hospital food....sounds about as bad over there as it was for me in Dec. '96 after the fire engine rollover. So, I've got a busted jaw wired shut. I'm on a "liquid diet." The geniuses in the dietary department send me: mashed potatoes, ice cream, pudding and something I think might have been oatmeal. They finally got it figured out and started sending me beef broth and "coffee." I'm still, all these years later, not quite sure which was which! Some kind of warm brown liquid in one cup, another brown warm liquid in the other. Both with a delightfully nondescript "flavor." Also, I see you have the same nurse I did!!!
TODD: Brenda and Missy 'eh? By golly, sounds like it rains in Illinoissssssssssssss too! Between the Wife and Rerun, I have to keep a supply of disposable earplugs handy. Makes it hard to hear the fire pager, but worth it. I've come to re-name said ear plugs as "marital aids!"
Memorial Day: Chuck Grassley, the "senior senator" from Iowa (R) posted this in his weekly e-newsletter: "In 1868, the founder of Memorial Day said, “Let no neglect, no ravages of time, testify to the present or to the coming generations that we have forgotten as a people the cost of a free and undivided republic.” At the risk of giving the soapbox a work-out, I'm not sure how "free" we are anymore...and I'd say we're about as "divided" of a republic as one can be short of coming to blows. But, here's hoping the lessons of the day are repeated and never forgotten.

Good Morning to all of you from the Finger lakes... The birthplace of Memorial Day! Yep, Waterloo, NY where a ceremony on May 5, 1866, honored local veterans who had fought in the Civil War. I will be spending much of the day at my son's house in Waterloo.
To all who have been affected by Man's inhumanity to man, greed, hatred, and all the rest my prayers are with you today (and every day). I hope that one day War will not be the way humanity solves its problems! (I have my doubts it will happen....). Please take time to reflect on those things we can do to make the world a better place as well as remembering those that gave so much for us.

Lee, tortoise wiring..... I use the internal switches in the tortoise to power the frogs. So 1 & 8 are the DC power to the machine routed through a DPDT toggle. 4 & 5 lead to the Frog, and 2 & 7 and 3 & 6 are track power in. i use both of the circuits for the frog power for redundancy, but one of the switches could be used for some other purpose as well. One of things I love about the Fast Tracks turnouts is they are easy to solder feeds in places the wire will not show.... I plan to rip out track and turnouts where I haven't started any scenery and replace with hand laid track and turnouts.... So much better than the Atlas turnouts I used!
Oh, we got a real good light show and some high wind right after I shut down the computer last night! Twas daylight at times.... I stayed up and watched for an hour or so until it passed over. No damage to my property, but I bet some limbs came down nearby! the cats went into hiding for the whole time.....

Does me and I’m not even involved. How does it make you feel to lose your handicap parking space to someone who literally RUNS from their vehicle to the front door of the buffet to beat the crowd? (rhetorical question. I’m sure I know.) Many times me and Mom had to walk to the door with her walker after losing to someone who could move better than me. At 22 years old you should NOT have to have your Mother call you to make sure you’re up for work. I'm almost 51 myself (July 7th). It really burns me up when I see someone who can literally sprint the 100 meter dash and have no handicap placard or card anywhere in sight take one of the few designated spaces. I write their tag number down and turn it in. Whether anything gets done about it or not I don't know. I can get through the 100 meter but the US Postal Service will pass me several times.

At 22 years old you should NOT have to have your Mother call you to make sure you’re up for work.
Jeff- Weeds…., flowers…, like you, I see no difference. Well Blue Bonnets are nice. Doesn’t it just torque you off to see what you and people like you ( the ones with legitimate issues) have to go through to get just what is required to get by, and then see people who milk and tweak the system just skate out of there with all the gravy? Does me and I’m not even involved. How does it make you feel to lose your handicap parking space to someone who literally RUNS from their vehicle to the front door of the buffet to beat the crowd? (rhetorical question. I’m sure I know.) Many times me and Mom had to walk to the door with her walker after losing to someone who could move better than me. Actually since I have taken up walking wiht a cane {even around the house} I have found that often I get more "respect and consideration" when going through doors or whne shopping they see the cane in my cart and often will ask if I need a carry-out for my order.{NOT at WAlly world though}. I have learned it is very hard to not have two hands available at all times.{one has a cane in it}. I have also found that handicapped spaces are not always a good place to park as they are often in front of the doors, and people walk rihgt out of them into hte parking lot behind with no nevermind to who is backing a car out! I'm not really at a point where I need the battery cart to ride on YET, so naturally I don't take one, though I could be eligeable.
My mother had MS and was wheelchair bound for half her short life. SO I understand the problems disabled people have, but I DO take exception to those who don't need it.
I have seen glares form someone who is much older and has a handicapped plate or hang tag when I get to a spot to park before they do. Then they see me get out with my cane, while they can still walk without one and their demeanor changes. I guess they feel "lucky" they are not using a cane-YET.
