Happy Anniversary Amtrak

This is an Atlas Dash8-32BWH with some detailing & weathering. Most notably, I added various sockets to the pilots, replaced the horn, & added MV Lens for marker lights. Just as it was almost finished it had an accident & met a concrete floor, damaging the cab & rear radiator, the windshield is dislodged & still inside the cab. I planned to swap the lights for LED in the future, so the Windsheild will be fized at that time. A Rapido Lounge car is in tow.

Excellent photos everyone.  Here is my contribution for this week.

I added Sunny White LEDs to one of my Athearn SD70ACes.

I just finished these freight cars this week.

This is an Athearn PS 5344 Boxcar Kit, replaced the sill steps with A-line metal ones.  Lettered with Oddballs Decals.

This is an Athearn Railbox Kit, replaced the stock door with a Details West #168 Pullman Standard Door, A-line Sill Steps and lettered with Microscale Decals.

This is an Atlas 6-Bay ACF Covered Hopper, Painted Aluminum and lettered with Oddballs Decals.

Thanks for looking!

Here are some first generation Burlington units in Blackhawk. I added details to the SD9's this week.

Here is my GE 44T and a branch line cabboose. Soon it will haul some box cars up the branch line.

Just one more pic, although it´ll be a long way until I have something more "presentable".

Yes, folks, this is N scale!

Garry, you are into MR photo territory.  Wink

Jarrell, thanks, and I must Shay that your loco is looking particularly scrumptious this morning.  Nice engine in a nice setting.

I haven't had a lot of basement time lately, though on a whim one evening I was able to create a little extra office space

Even with the poor quality photo you can still make out just a hint of its former occupation, while one if its brethren waits nearby for the next assignment.

I should probably put together a set or two of stairs...

I just finished another HW passenger car; BM 4625 is an old Athearn blue box kit that I found at a train show. I stripped it, added some details, repainted and Highball Graphics decals. Is on the grade with a B&M baggage car and an MEC coach that I had done some time ago; also Athearns.

I still need to add an interior and diaphragms, but they are out of stock, so that finish work will have to wait...

Nice car George. I always thought bluebox cars were decent for what they were. The really only noticeable difference to me is the cast on grabs.

I've been working on a pair of these units for the past week or so.

Mike- Nope! The Lamoille Valley, a shortline operating in northern Vermont in the 1970s-1990s, used a variety of neat ALCos, including 3 which had their noses chopped.

The model of the specific unit pictured below is still under construction. The one awaiting primer had the different headlight arrangement as modeled.

Lee- That roundhouse scene is really coming along. It's always a pleasure to see the circus alive and well.

Frank - it is an N scale model of a Japanese National Railway Class D51 Mikado, made by Kato, selling for about $ 120.  As HO scale is not very popular in Japan (and it is not 1/87.1, but 1/80), HO models are rare. Kato did produce a HO version of this loco, and will eventually re-release it, but you will have to calculate with a price above the $ 400 mark for it - see here

Wow, beautiful work here this week.  Who says we don't work on our layouts once the weather gets nice?

Here's another in-progress picture of the swamp and small woodland which will fill in an awkward dead spot on my layout:

The water will surround a small island where the dead tree stands.  About halfway between the tree and the lower left corner is a flat area where the beavers will build the dam which is causing the land to flood in the first place.

Alex,

Nice to see the Lamoille Valley being remembered.  I am hoping to find one of its predecfssor, StJ&LC steam locos on a day when I can afford it.  Have only seen one or two over the years.

Will you model the Wolcott covered bridge?

 Have fun,

Richard
