Blownout- That is a neat picture.
LSWrr- I have one that isa 20' radius that is the inside of the double radius turnout. Everything else is either 24-28' radius. When planning I made the trade off on radius size against what I wanted to have the layout do. The rails are nickel-brass from Atlas, PECO and Shinohara. The pictures make the radius of the turnouts seem really sharp.

Good morning. It's 43° and I see no clouds. The high will be 71° (so they say) and sunny.Other than a bit of a backache I'm feeling good this morning. Got another billboard put up yesterday. I removed the tree that was next to the locomotive in the park and took out the fence. Seems the railfans didn't like those two obstacles being in their way. Today I may get started on another road.

Larry, yea I’m going to miss Bucyrus, I have to go to Detroit Saturday and return on Sunday morning. You didn’t really miss anything at the Lakeland show in Kirtland.
Rob, yea I have 4 lanterns and 3 oil cans so far in the collection. Lots of New York Central stuff at the shows. I have a 1956 Dietz NYCRR red kerosene lantern, a 1947 red C&O ADLAKE kerosene lantern, a 1950’s Dietz NYCRR red lantern that was my great Uncle’s, and a 1932 Union carbide Acetylene lantern with NYCS stamped into the handle. I also have 2 NYCS RR oil cans and Dietz kerosene can for refilling kerosene switch stands. Oh and a Conrail blue light. NYCRR used kerosene lanterns until 1960 so anything post WWII is pretty common and is worth around $45 to $50 unless it’s a B&O coal service marker lantern and those can go for up to $1,500.00. Caboose marker lights (red and blue lights) sell for about $85 online, but people at the shows think they have a $500 light for some reason. I just want two more lights, one blue lens and one yellow lens.
Curt, what’s your radius on those curves? Are those brass turnouts?

I had no chance of posting to the forum yesterday. While I could enter the Kalmbach site without problems, entering the forum resulted in time-outs "server not responding" routines. With the forum performing like this, I´ll never be able to catch up with our "postmaster" Jeff
Delivery for my order of track was announced for this week, so maybe be the time weekend comes, I will be able to "play" with my trains, i.e. give my Japanese mike a test run.
Nothing much planned for the day other than the usual grocery run to replenish our depleted stocks.

Well tonight I avoided getting a possible fall injury by taking a fall. I was down talking with my father and when I got up to leave I lost my balance, which has never been all that great anyway and couldn't get my footing back. To make matters worse my cane got caught between my ankles. So I did the only thing I could do to avoid going down out of control. I sat down right where I was. I just gave up trying to regain my balance and just plopped down on the concrete floor. Best thing I could have done. From there it was a simple matter to grab the arm of the chair I had been in and use it to lever myself up.
Internet is up, for the moment. Slice of Chocolate cake, please.

Weather was hot today-very high 80's possibly into the 90's. I think we are supposed to get rain tomorrow.
I layed all of my turnouts today. Only took about 5 hours as half of them will be manual control so I did not have to remove springs or dill holes. My back is talking to me and it is saying you over did it today. I just wanted to get the job done so I can move on to something new. I think it took more time leveling the turnouts then anything else.
I just found out my youngest brother will be in my area for 2 weeks starting mid April for his job, which will be nice, I have not seen him in a couple of years.
Here is what my layout looks like as of this afternoon.
I guess Friday I will start laying Flex Track. I hope to be done with that by the end of April.

Try some Klosterfrau Melisengeist or Melisana Klosterfrau. Seeing as how it is a German product, you should find it everywhere over there, since we can get it here in the States. Pour some on a cotton ball and have your other half rub it all over your head. Helps to take some of the pain and throbbing away. It may not take away all the pain, but helps to easy the intensity of the headache. We are getting very low on it and I can at least order it from Amazon.com over here.

Good morning. It's 74° and cloudy. The temperature will drop slightly this afternoon for a high of 73°. There's a 50% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight. A wind advisory is in effect until 8 pm. Winds from the south will be more or less steady at 20 mph with gusts to 30+.Nothing planned for outside today. I'm hurting too bad to even think of going out for anything less than an emergency. I had pizza (I love pizza but it doesn't love me) with my father last night but I paid the price for it. Tomatoes, whether they be raw, cooked or as sauce on a pizza, causes me some distress. I spent most of the night on the throne. I finally got to sleep around 4:30 this morning. Gee Barry, thanks for sending the thunder boomers over my way.... actually I was in here an hour ago and was just about to say Mornin' when a rumble took place. Decided to shut down and go do a couple other things for a while. Oh, the next Region Convention is in, hmmm, can't think of the name of the place, but it is way the heck up North. about an 8 hour drive from my house. It will be held in 2012 I believe. The Woodstock thing may be a Division Meet... Next Saturday is the Lakeshores Division Meet in Hammondsport, NY.
Lee, the train was just starting up when the passing off of the orders was done. The Gentleman passing the "orders" was showing how it was done way back when. The person taking the "orders" was just a passenger in the cab who agreed to take them. I tell all about THAT when I w*rk as a docent out at the museum. We have a pair of upper quadrant semaphore signals at the museum as well. The office is set up with a working telegraph (run by an ancient old computer). I like to give the tour of the Depot.....
I will be heading to Rochester right after lunch time to do a photo shoot. Should be back by late afternoon. See you all then.

Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes on this thunderous Monday morning.I guess Spring as arrived since its 65 with thunder boomers and according to the old wives tale all the snakes wake up and go slithering about.
Well next Saturday is the Bucyrus train show and following that is the N Scale weekend in Columbus(Hillard) May 14/15 2011 and of course I am looking forward to that.Friends,I tell ya what...I just can't bring myself to abandon N Scale even after having couple of buyers lined up.Maybe when I get to old or my eyesight gets bad enough that I can no longer see it even with glasses I will give up N and maybe HO and "retire" from the hobby all together.
I shall have a cup and look over da forum.

Todd: Those laws are similar to some we have here, except we can burn all the wood we want as long as it's outside the city limits. Doesn't stop some businesses from burning huge piles of old pallets. On the other hand, you can still be hanged here for stealing horses.
Another miserable day with the same miserable migraine. I have 3 different meds to help, but they aren't.
Rainy and weather front moving through changing our weatehr. My migraines seem often to be accompanied by changes in weather fronts, so I think they are linked.

MOH going out to do some shopping for MIL and will pick up a few things for us too. We need to do our twice-monthly shopping for a lot of things as we are basically out of everything. MAybe Wed before my appt. with the Center For Pain Relief, when they will "radio frequency something something" the nerves in my back which is supposed to last 6 months of painlessness there. We shall see what we shall see when we see it. I will need a driver and a day to recouperate off my feet Wed.

No problems other than the TV was on all night and I can’t sleep well with that thing on. Brenda wanted to hear if the warning signal went off. We were supposed to have had some strong storms around 1 to 2 am time frame, but luckily, they calmed down quite a bit before getting to us. Heard one big loud low and long foundation shaking boomer but that was it. Kind of a misty sprinkle going on out there now so I think I’ll just confine myself to the basement. After the Church bookwork of course. Soppose I’ll have to go to Castle Trains (FLHS) tomorrow to see if they have the blasted rock tunnel portal from A.I.M.. I need that to be able to complete or at least continue on my little tunnel mess scene. Or area I guess. Could use something else I suppose and replace it when I get a chance. Hmmmm. Decisions. Did get some cleanup done on the workbench future expansion side of the room. Looks a bit better. But I need the removal of stuff not just a repile of stuff. Village cleanup isn’t until end of this month so I have to wait to get rid of some things such as wood, others can be thrown in the elevator's dumpster. Burn the wood? HA! Ray, please tell me the train orders were passed while the locomotive was sitting still. I remember hanging out at my Great Uncle’s switch tower watching him pass orders. The engineer would make a fist and stick his arm out the window to go through the hoop. Your picture looks like a jousting match, LOL!
Well I had a productive weekend. I started laying track in the old canning kitchen in the basement. I extended the track from the main layout through the wall, under the stairs and into the old kitchen. The canning kitchen layout is a horseshoe shaped switching layout. The track is a single branch line that splits, one track heading ‘South” towards the coal fields of SE Ohio and SW Pennsylvania and an east-west line heading to the ore port. Connecting the two is a Junction (3’ x 12’) section that will be a time saver configuration with a wye (30” radius curves) in the lower left corner and 3 tracks running left to right. So far I have four #6 turnouts, one 3-way, one wye turnout, and about 15 feet of flex track installed. One departure track and two arrival tracks for the coal mine area are installed and soldered in place. The three tracks will connect to the break bulk port, Medusa Cement, and a ship supply-stevedore company. The center track will act as a runaround for switching the 6-7 industries, but will be modeled as a single track main. The coal mine will be a working loading coal mine so laying out an efficient loading system for handling 20-30 car coal drags was pretty tricky in a 3’ x 6.5’ area but I think it will work with a single switching locomotive or a pair of 70 ton switchers. Things are a mess right now with power tools, levels, drop lights, and layout tools so you’ll have to wait for the ore docks to be started before I send out any pictures.
I picked up some resin for casting and poured 50 crates for self unloading boxcars, some stacked 55-gallon drums, and a few stacked apple crates. I found the mold for the pile of junk tires was torn, so I will be re-casting that next weekend (I save all my originals). The de-mold time is 45 minutes and the cure time is 72 hours for this brand of plastic I bought. So far the items are firming up rock hard after 24 hours. I’m considering installing a scrap yard in the SW corner of the layout where I already have two sidings.
