After spending a couple days this week looking for that perfect gift for my very soon to be 2 granddaughter Emily, I gave up and bought her some clothes......... The LSD was almost completely out of trains t-shirts for kids that age, neither of the clothing stores in the area I patronize had any trains shirts or any "grandpa is my favorite human" type shirts. So I just got her a plain old Happy looking outfit that should fit her. Couldn't find any toys here in town that suited my tastes, and with time running out.......... She will get loads and loads of toy type thingies anyway.
Picked up the invitations to the MLK Scholarship Dinner from the printer, did some banking at the Credit Union, got my allergy shots, and went shopping for food at BJ's. THAT took care of most of the afternoon. Oh, I also had to stop and buy Gas for the car... Man! You guys are right. I had just over a quarter tank and it cost me $28.75 to fill it up..... This keeps up I think I'll get one of these. Might cut into my hobby budget just a little bit though....
Hopefully I can get a bit of time tonight to play trains.

Evening everyone, today was supposed to be a scheduled day off for me but the manager called this morning and asked if I could work. Someone called off and they needed someone to man the gas station kiosk. Since I have been fighting a bad cold for a few days I had a choice, stay home and be miserable and get bored out of my mind because I didn't feel up to doing much. Or go to work sit in the kiosk being miserable and getting bored out of my mind but getting paid for it. I went to work. With everything going on around here the few extra dollars will help.
Not much else happening, just fighting the cold and waiting for everything to settle down around here.

Evening all. Nothing for me, grilled some pork chops tonight for dinner and I am stuffed! Continued prayers to Jeff and Ulrich for their parents. Nothing happening on the train front for me at the moment. Will be doing some more tweaking this weekend if the weather and w*rk cooperates, which it should. Tomorrow Amy's got a Dr's appointment, so I know that I won't be able to do a whole lot of anything then, but that's the way it goes. Welp, guess I'll check around and see what else is happening around here.

Did a couple loads of wash tonight which gave me some quality time in the layout rooms next door to the laundry machines..... Also gave me some more time to practice some of the words i have been using way too often on this current project.....
Did manage to get one belt installed after pulling the assembly with the drive wheels off and regluing it 4 or 5 times...... Decided to do something easy for a bit and made up a scratch built Hayes type track bumper for the end of the track in the engine house. It is basically made and soldered in place. Need to have the actual bumper (where the coupler would hit) fabricated from some styrene and glued to the end then painted, and that little project will be finished. I'll grab a few photos for the weekend Photo thread tomorrow.
Supposed to get some icy weather tomorrow morning just in time for the morning commute in these parts. Hopefully it won't be too bad and they will get the roads salted early. Snow has melted enough to let me get to the firewood in the driveway. Good thing as I burned the last of the wood on the porch this afternoon.....

Alvie- Well, you’ve definitely found the best place to hang out with some good advice and friendly help to get you back in full swing. By the way, I thought about Doc O’brian’s weathering powders myself a while back, but ended up getting A.I.M. powders and like them very well. Ray- I’m getting the bicycle tires pumped up just as soon as the weather breaks. Welp, off to slumber land. Only thing left to say for tomorrow morning is I didn’t make it back down to lay the turnouts like I planned. Hm. Now I don’t have that to say. Could mention I stopped in at the umpteen thousandth Evil Bay thread, but I guess I just spoiled that too. Oh well, you know me, I’ll come up with something.

Question Guys: I have all these wires (for LEDs) which need connecting to a transformer. What kind of distribution bars (or other devices) do all of you use for this? Please be specific and any pics of your setups are most welcome, too.

In my humble opinion Berea is the #1 show up north and Lakeland is the #2 show. N&W is hard to rate, but I always walk away with something I “absolutely” needed.

We have a few hours of quiet before rain and all kinds of wind show up..over the next day and a half they are forecasting roughly 2.5" or more rain.... will be the in thing for the weekend again...oh and Sunday will be back to icy and slippie....

Good morning. It's 66° and cloudy with an occasional morning shower. The high will be 74° with a 50% chance of thunderstorms.This morning I awoke to the most obnoxious, rumbling, grinding sound I'd ever heard. It sound like somebody was dragging a shipping container down the road. I went out to look and found that the parish was using a large track hoe to grade the road on our loop here and they were doing a real good job of it. Usually they use a grader and really botch the job. This time the road is so smooth that driving on it is almost like driving on a blacktop road. This tells me that one of two things is happening. #1, some parish official is seeking reelection or #2, we're about to get a really major washout from a storm front. Looking at the forecast for today and tomorrow supports #2. Speaking of things to come, I have an appointment with the foot doc Monday afternoon. I'm curious to see if he'll do a new X-ray series to see what this most recent break has done. My ankle was black and blue for the better part of a week and a half before the skin started clearing and took on it's normal dusky red tinge. The most an X-ray is likely to show is if any broken off bits of bone are floating free. These will over time be forced out toward the skin where they would be pushed out. It's not the first time I've had this happen. The trick is to determine if there are any major blood vessels in the way. I hope there aren't. I spent much of the day yesterday helping a friend of mine do some layout planning. He's using photos of my layout (his choice) to make his decisions about what he wants. So far he doesn't have as much of a toothpick with which to start. It's just planning.

Looking outside right now the sun is trying to peek through. looking at the weather forecast, Barry is sending me all the nice weather he will be having over the next couple days. The forecast says, showers and light rain.... The "weather alert" says Flood Watch..... I guess what we get is what we get. Knock on wood, no water in the main train room yet this march. I hope it will stay THAT way!
Todd, leg powered vehicles are cool! I used to ride my bicycle to work (school) every day I could back in the 70's. THAT meant carrying books and my guitar on the bike as well. My late wife and I bought his and her 5 speeds and the family would go touring on some of the back roads often. If leg power doesn't make it, then just get one of these. How's 197 MPGe and 0 to 100 in 20 seconds sound? Not sure if you need a motorcycle license or not to operate.

Good Morning All!Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes on this rainy Friday.While out and about yesterday afternoon-actually my favorite Dairy Queen open and I decided a sugar free milkshake would taste good and after getting one I went to Col/San to enjoy the shake and stayed around a hour and saw 2 NS freights a coal drag and a grain train.It felt good to be trackside and better when those trains rolled by..No modeling yesterday..I shall have a cup and look over the forum.Have a good'un!

Just sitting here listening to the Iowa City West High girls playing in the semifinal round at the State Tournament in Des Moines ("Duh Moyne" for you non-Iowans). I was down there Wednesday for the quarterfinal round. IF the girls win against one of the strongest Class 4A teams in the state, I will likely have to go there tomorrow night for the championship. Maybe not, Boss and Mrs. Boss (THAT EDITOR) are pondering it.
New BIG BOSS just called, he was thinking of having me cover Mt. Vernon's championship game tomorrow night as well...says he really likes my stuff and wants to find some more opportunities for me. Good deal! His Mt. Vernon Sun staffer is able to take the gig...more power to her. I'm OK with staying home on a Saturday night...

Ended up having to go downtown this afternoon as I discovered this morning I only had a couple pills left in one of my prescriptions... I also had to exchange some work pants i bought yesterday... Needed a size large for these (I am the same size that I have been, but for some items I can wear one size and for others it is a size larger.....). Got in the store, Super Casuals, to find one of the old employees from the Local Shoe Store that closed last Fall working there. We got to talking and I told him that I sure miss the old shoe store and will now have to drive to canandaigua to buy at a decent store that can actually fit people for shoes. he told me he has talked the owner of Super Casuals into opening a shoe dept. that will carry the stuff I wear.... YES!

They've run our of hay at the feed store, so my work load here just increased. Will have to transfer hay by pitchfork (and using the 6x6 Ranger) to the middle pasture horses. Hope they get a hay shipment in soon. Yikes!

Well, we had a bit of a shock today..turns out a friend of mine passed away from Sudden Cardiac Arrest a couple of days ago.....we were discussing a band that we wanted to put together that we had several years back...the thing about this is is that now his son wants to take his fathers place in said band...
I'm having a bit of a sit down with him tomorrow about the idea...
As it is ...today was pretty much of a wash when we found this out...

Does this mean (other than yanking the entire thing out and replacing it) that it is now permanently a "manual" switch?
