Extra strong coffee in a SUNNY SOUTHERN mug, please.
Today, Mr. Bull found his way back into our pasture and was flirting with one of our cows again. Having just got our 6x6 Polaris Ranger running, I headed down to encourage him to leave. Nearly ran into the stubborn beast. So, encouraged him further with birdshot, which did the trick. I told him next time he's filling our freezer. Hopefully, this is the last time he trespasses. Oh, those cute calves came over to watch me run the new 4-strand barbwire section of fence. Used temporary zip ties until I can pick up some metal clips.
Going to rest up a bit and perhaps later meander down to the train room.
Cheers! Rob
Ken, I expect more out of you next time, LOL!
Larry, a while back you said something about a train show down around your neck of the woods? Would you care to share some details? Are you coming up for Lakeland show (NMRA DIV 5) this month?

Afternoon Folks!
Flo, I will take a beer please in a frosted Monon mug please.
Yep, Beer thirty came a little early today, but sound way to good for some reason.
Monon Guy Jim, thank you so much for the present. Jim made me a costume painted black and gold Monon Caboose to match my F-3's. Must say it looks pretty darn good. I will post a picture later.
Savings Account Front In the last 30 days I have saved $103.00 in change. I save the extra cash by asking for $1.00 to $4.00 in change every time I buy something. While that nothing to brag about, I use to save $120.00 a week. I still feel pretty good about it. All the bills are paid from February, have about $15.00 left in the bank, have a paycheck on my desk from last week, will be paid again Friday and still have $180.00 in cash in my wallet.
Has anyone heard from Galaxy? Hope things did not take a turn for the worst with his back.
Well, that was all I had on my mind for now.

Afternoon. (Looks around carefully) PBR me please. Thanks. Well, Chili’s simmering on the stove for a couple hours. Then it’s refridge time until freezer for a day. Maybe. Oddly enough that is required to meld the flavors and get the out graininess (hm. There is such a word. Who’d a thunked it). Ray- My chili is leans more towards beefy than tomatoey. It does have tomatoes, but not tomatoey.

Lee- Reminds me of an old Charlie Daniels song, Simple Man. “Now I’m the kinda man that wouldn’t harm a mouse, but if I catch somebody breakin in my house, I got a 12 gage shotgun waitin on the other side.” Those 2 nay-sayers? Probably heading for their Yacht this weekend. Gonna take off early and make it a long one.
Actually there is more to Charlie Daniels song Simple Man (not Lynyrd Skynyrd). Good song. Kinda speaks the way I feel. You folks oughta Google it and you’d probably agree.

Hey guys
New place looks nice.
Did some work on my trains today, installed some KDs, painted the roof of a car silver. But hit a snag with the latter. I had an BN MDC 50' high-cube but when I put the blue painter's tape on for the mask and pulled it off (slowly and at an angle mind you) almost all the lettering came off. Guess I should go buy some decals and look up info on this class of BN cars (the old MDC car is correct for a class of BN cars, that seemed to be used in work train service.
Also put more air in my tires. I was at 28 psi all around and I got 18.7 mpg off the last tank. Might hit 20 now that it's 36 front and 34 rear. I rechecked the toe as best as I could and it's right at least as far as I can do. Gonna take it to the alignment shop next week.
Ken, So you were saying was she a lot closer to my age?
Garry, Good luck with your mom
Robby, an hour and a half? Somehow I don't think it's really over on her end.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Evenin' Folks!
Not much business here tonight. Guess everyone must be over across the street visiting the museum.... Hi Flo, I'll just have a decaf for right now.
I'm downstairs in the trainroom using a lot of those words...... Went to slightly straighten a belt assenbly I installed last night knowing full wee I would have to break the bond at the joint where it was glued. Instead I managed to break off the drive wheel in the darned little thingy. Do you thing I hold it in place with a pair of long nosed pliers to have the itsy bitsy drop of CA set? Tried it at least 10 times. I'll wait until tomorrow to get it back together.
Cold here in the Finger lakes tonight. All of 17°F and going down to 9° later with a 20 mph wind as well. Wind direction is just right to make the cellar very drafty. My 25,000 BTU gas heater can't keep up with it so it is chilly where I am sitting. Usually this room heats up very well. I am waiting for some paint to dry on a couple more drive wheels at the moment.......
Sometime in the next couple of days I should get a package with some ultra thin plywood I will use to make the roofs on the building. Also making a Scratch built track bumper for inside the engine house.
Catch you all later!

Nothing new from me. Just been doing some scenic work on the layout.
One thing I did that I thought was kinda cool was I built a freight dock on one of my sidings and have an old crane holding some Scenemaster pallets.

Sheetrock mudded about ten more feet of track in place on my (N) layout. Ran trains over it and all is well.
Healing thoughts to those in need.
Have a good night all.

Yay Elliot's Diner! I'll take an Italian sub and French fries.
I am now employed again :) In a job I actually like, that pays decently and has respectable but not burdensome hours per week. I also get to house-sit at a place in the county for three weeks which I am very much looking forward too.
On the model front, I recently discussed my efforts at scratch-building a station very much like the lovely B&O Point of Rocks station and though I've not made progress since then, I am of course looking forward to making progress.
I acquired a second BLI J, my first with sound and oh do I love it! But I didn't like the matte finish and poor marker lights, no jewels! So I've transfered the electronics into my other BLI J for now until I fix up the one that originally came with sound. For my previously acquired model, now with a sound unit J 606 I added Woodland Scenics coal over the stock load. Other modifications to the loco, were just some basic work with a paint brush to paint the controls and gauges in the cab and add a 3rd crew member inside (Preiser figure) my rationale is that a railroad engineer, as in someone who designs and engineers railroad equipment, is along for the ride to see how #606 is performing. Eventually I'll add other details as I see fit and give the model a light weathering job to bring out the detailing.

Good early morning all. Just a RBF for me. Been a whole lot happening in my neck of the woods and I haven't been able to catch up with the happenings of last month, but prayers to all those whom need them.
On the train front, I've been working through my rolling stock and locomotives that I'm going to be keeping nad getting them up to acceptable standards (couplers at the correct height, free-rolling wheels, proper weight, etc) so that I don't have to worry about troublesome cars.
On all other fronts, w*rk has been a little crazy, lots of cars needing to be worked on, and in my "primary" job, lots of parts to sale. And since the weather has finally turned warmer here, we've started back working on the house. Got the master bathroom walls painted and the subfloor down. All that is left in there is to get measurements and put down the floor tile then the toilet, sink, and accessories. After that we'll only have 1 room left to remodel and I honestly can't wait.
Welp, that's enough for me, I'm goinig to be heading off to bed, gotta be at w*rk tomorrow by 9:30 so I need at least a little sleep.
Good Morning ! from Tipton IN.

Ken I found that to be an excellent way to save money. I picked up a glass water cooler bottle from my Mom’s and all my change is deposited in there when I return from the store.
Diesel is $3.98/gallon here. IMHO we are still digging out of the last recession that was caused in part by high fuel prices; I guess we didn’t learn anything. High fuel means we cut unnecessary things from our budget; new cars, eating out, movies, cable TV, daily newspaper, and as a last resort MRR supplies. When 1 million people do this it sends a cascading ripple throughout the economy.
Morning St Louis.
Boy it is short drive to the dinner, only 17 miles this month.
Got up way to early this morning at 4:00 AM. I probably catch a cat nap here in a little bit.
Alvie, glad you are back working again as well. I was out of work for the most of 2010. While money was only a real problem a few times, it still feels good to be working again.
On the plate for today. Need to get the garage cleaned up, it gotten to be a true mess again. Need to fax some stuff to SSI for Sue Disability claim. Then start on the hardship letter and budget for the Bank Of Stupid. (Bank of America) Plus I get to call the idiots. I hope to make another double payment this month. You would think they cut me a some slack with me making double payments.
Lee Yep, saving change does add up. Back when I was making a good living I would buy $10.00 to $20.00 in rolled quarters every time I went to Bank for work. At one point I had $8,000.00 in change here at the house. Good part about saving that much in change is if there was a fire, the change would still be there.
Dodge Daytona Front Sue got some extra funds from SSI (she did call and they said they under payed her for DEC) so it looks like I can get plates for it today. It will be nice to have two cars drivable again. Today I will put in some fresh gas, air up the tires, top of the fluids and see how she does after sitting for 5 months.
Yea Packer She is closer to your age, so is my Daytona.
See you all latter today.
Good Morning Folks!
Cup of coffee please!
Gas here is $3.50/gal - this is unbelievable!
Have a great day all!
Alvie! I must have missed you in the coming and going in here....

Currently we are seeing 3F going to go a high of 26F later on in the day...
Have a little less busy day today so I may get a bit of time to go mucking around in the trainroom...

Good Morning!! Coffee and the Fruit plate please. Thank you.
Partly sunny, with a high near 52. Almost Spring-like out there. Sorta.
Speaking of Spring, gas here just hit $3.499 ($3.50 in my book) a gallon, tax included, at the Love‘s across the highway. Supposed to make us feel better to know gas itself isn’t that much, don’t forget some of that is tax. I have a much better feeling about it knowing this. Glad I was reminded. The Casey’s was still $3.40 last night when I returned from my mad dash to the Walmart grocery store, so I guess it’ll be up today.
Had to race into town to get extra chili fixing’s (Mainly meat). Brenda decided I needed to make more in case they ran out of the other stuff they were going to serve. She has this grand idea we are going to serve three hundred. I say that’s a great idea but really not likely. That was a waste of my breath, you noticed I said I had to go to the grocery store didn’t you? How come every time she gets involved in something it’s more work for me?
Alvie- Do you have a layout, used to have, or just prepping for one someday? Sounds like you’re not just starting in the hobby.
I have a change jar on my dresser. Same thing but not as large. Usually nets me around $25-$30 a month some months more but usually not less. I’m not gonna pay the mortgage or get rich, but an extra Jackson is nice at the hobby shop, or to buy that needed 0.239 gallon of gas.
Oh well, best get doing something even if it’s wrong. May stop in before w**k tonight.
Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!
Good Late Morning fellow diner patrons.
Coffee "To Go" please.
Have not been in lately and just wanted to jump in here and give a shout to Ulrich; I hope everything is going well with your Mom, and that the surgery go,es well.I lost a kidney to cancer three years ago and have been doing fine without it. She will be so much better once that is gone and not causing complications. My Prayers and Thoughts are with You.
I will get back in here later tonight and try to catch up, I have to go and be studio tech and fix some of the wifes equipment today. See you all later

Good Morning All!Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes other then Railfan season is fast approaching and I'm rearing to go.The Bucyrus Train show and open house is about 6 weeks away...We had our "test" operation at the N Scale club last night and all went smooth in the DC mode but,we had a few minor glitches in the DCC mode.I ran C&HV Extra 200West with 107 cars of coal from the yard to staging..It was rather nice running a train by dispatcher and block signal.Of course it took all 3 C&HV Geeps and a lease N&W GP9 to pull that train..I'm glad I didn't quit the club and sell my N Scale.Slate Creek construction start date is still on target. All is better since I rethought things through and decided to stick with my original plans.
Tom,The Bucyrus show and open house is 4/09/11.

Welcome Alvie
Well I was really in the dark last night after I came in from my trip to Wal-Mart with my father. A transformer up the road exploded and blacked the area out. The inside of my trailer was very dark. I felt like I had been dipped in ink and let loose in an unlit coal mine. Fortunately I make it a habit to have a keychain light in my pocket. I had a cold dinner and took my evening meds by the cold glow of a battery powered lantern then went to bed. I awoke shortly after midnight when the power came back on. I turned the lights off and went back to bed. On the last report I gave of my mother she had been moved from the rest home to the hospital ER in a semi comatose condition. She spent the better part of twenty-four hours there then was moved to ICU. After two or three days she was moved to a private room on the fourth floor of the hospital. She's showing signs of improvement and is eating better. She wanted chicken tender strips and biscuits so my father went right out and got her some. And she ate all of it. That's the first full meal she's eaten on her own in weeks.

Zoe, good thing you serve breakfast all day here in the diner. I'll have me a #2 special, over easy on the eggs. bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast please, along with my cup of dark roast coffee in a FGLK Mug. Thanks Ma'am.
Rob, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence..... And maybe he just likes them... ah. petite.
Ah, I started this 45 minutes ago and have been sidetracked 3 times... Guess I'll just post and come back later!
Brakie - I'm like you, just waiting for the weather to warm up some so I can start railfanning again. The wife and I went out for breakfast this morning, and while we were having our coffee I mentioned that I was anxious to go and watch some trains. But at 17 degrees this moring, we aren't quite there yet. Soon, I hope.

Good Evening Gang,
I am still at my Dad´s place. My Mom´s surgery has been postponed the second time around now. It is a 4 hour job and the hospital docs don´t want to take the risk. She will be transferred to a special hospital early next week, where they are supposedly much better prepared for this type of surgery. I am not sure what to think about this - I am afraid they are not telling us the whole truth.
Zoe, nothing for me this time, I am too exhausted for anything.
My Dad had a little nervous breakdown this afternoon. I managed to calm him down and make him go to bed to get some rest. He is sleeping now, but I will keep an eye and an ear open this night.
I am sorry not to have more favorable news, other than that I am deeply worried about both my parents. I hope everything will turn to to the better soon, as I am reaching the end of my physical and emotional energy.
Blessings to all..
Got a wee bit done on the layout this morn. Layed some roadbed for the ......part of the curved turnout that will recieve the upper level into the lower level. I will now, after the couple hours it has been since that and the glue should be dried well enough for my satisfaction, I will spread some latex caulk and lay the curved turnout an the wye that will accept the incoming trins from the as of not yet built phase 2, no 3, no,......well, whatever phase ends up being. I forgot what phase I called this.
Anywho, once that dries, next chance I get, I will lay the two remaining peices of flex and then the loop for the lower level will be complete and I can run a train in a loop. Yeehaw. (I'm a loop guy for those of you who don't know. Not loopy ......well....maybe that too)
While testin the track earlier on the north end, I discovered a switch that likes to pull off the rail just enough to cause a car to try and go two different routes at the same time. Not condusive to a smooth running opertation by the way. I guess that's good that it moves freely, but it does have it's downside. I'll do a little work on the points and install the Caboose ground throw there first I guess and that should take care of the problem. I just need something to hold the point against the rail other than my finger. Cramp you know.
Jeff- Great news about your Motehrs progress. An appetite is a very good thing.
Ulrich- Not too great news from you, but she is still in my prayers for a successful surgery and recovery and also for you and your Father.
Yacked long enough. (sorry guys, I type like I talk. If you knew me, you'd say the same) Gotta clean up the kitchen from last night. Embarrassed to say I went to bed with a dirty kitchen, but it was late and, well, you know. Have to get the pots washed up so Brenda can dirty them again tonight while I'm at w**k with her concoction she will call chili.
TTFN
Hello Todd,
Ooh chili! I love some good Chili :) And I definitely agree a change jar is a fine thing to have. I have an actual pig and when he's full I deposit or cash at my credit union. I stopped using change to cash machines a while ago as I figure 8.9% fees are not worth the time it takes me to just count it out myself.
I am no beginner though do not consider myself to advanced as I've been a train fan as long as I can remember. I haven't had a layout in about 10-years and even that had just been a 4x8 with a couple sidings, but still entertaining! I'd really like to build up a shelf layout over the next year or two, or at least a diorama or three, now that I'm almost out of school and have money and time for a change.
Evening Folks
Flo, just a Beer I am BBQ some Pork Steaks tonight.
Only got about a third done today that I wanted to. Did get the Dodge Daytona legal and drove it around 20 miles today. Part of the exhaust fell off. But that was no surprise to me. Muffler fell off 2 years ago. Still not that loud, has a 10 year old cat on it and still keeps it pretty quite.
Ulrich Far as you talking about your and your family problems, that is what we are here for.
Jeffery Glad your mother is doing better.
Train Front Sucked Today. The DT 400 gave up it's ghost today. Have no Liquid Crystal read out at all and the only engine I can control is the Dash 9 coal train. Looks like I am back on the Bachmann E-Z command. Part that truly blows is I installed Decoder Pro and the software for the PR 3 on the current computer and it does not work. I only have 4 engines with address that the E-Z can control. Hope Simon can help me out with this problem.
Well the pork steaks are about done, see you all later
Evenin' folks!
Flo, I'll have the Roast Beast dinner plate with all the trimmings, and a cup of decaf for dinner tonight.
Ulrich, you continue in my prayers!!!
After spending a couple days this week looking for that perfect gift for my very soon to be 2 granddaughter Emily, I gave up and bought her some clothes......... The LSD was almost completely out of trains t-shirts for kids that age, neither of the clothing stores in the area I patronize had any trains shirts or any "grandpa is my favorite human" type shirts. So I just got her a plain old Happy looking outfit that should fit her. Couldn't find any toys here in town that suited my tastes, and with time running out.......... She will get loads and loads of toy type thingies anyway.
Picked up the invitations to the MLK Scholarship Dinner from the printer, did some banking at the Credit Union, got my allergy shots, and went shopping for food at BJ's. THAT took care of most of the afternoon. Oh, I also had to stop and buy Gas for the car... Man! You guys are right. I had just over a quarter tank and it cost me $28.75 to fill it up..... This keeps up I think I'll get one of these. Might cut into my hobby budget just a little bit though....
Hopefully I can get a bit of time tonight to play trains.
Later!
