Rob, PM me if you need the barer strip. I have a round 4 of them and you are welcome to 1 or 2.
Evening Dinners!
Flo a beer please and Galaxy Tap is on me.
Work Front While not a great day in Dollars I still got $3686.00 in sales. I was on my game today big time had 6 customers and 6 sales, you cannot do better than that folks! Called Ben (my boss) to ask him a question and told him I closed 6 out of 6 sales in the back ground Berry (owner) yelled Ken for President. So I guess he is happy with me.
Talked with one of the old Pro's of the company today. Mark gave me a little inside information off the record. Seems I have increased the sales of the store around 40% in the short time I have been there. Makes the $250.00 bonus seem a little cheap. But I am sure not looking a gift horse in the mouth and I am still tickled to have gotten it!
Well I am pooped, before I came on line I was trying to figure how to squeezes out 3 house payments of $877.00 this month with out touching Sues last SSI payment. I have $1051.00 laying on my desk and need and need $1583.00 more. I just might be able to pull it off.
See you all Sunday before work.
Ken
I hate Rust
***Ray, THANK YOU! That looks like just the ticket and a much simpler way to do this. I knew there had to be a better way. BTW, Granddaughter #2 sure doesn't look happy in that first pic. What a change having a nap can make. Back to being her cute little self I see.
Rob
Evenin'
Flo I'll have a cup of decaf and a slice of the Pecan Pie you got on the counter please.
Rob, a solution I personally like is a jumper strip made for the Terminal Strip sold at Radio Shack. You can see it here. I especially like them because you can use both sides of the terminal strip for feeds. On an 8 slot strip, you can get one wire for an in feed, then 15 feeds off of the terminal strip to lights, etc. I don't know if they would fit the strip(s) you already have, but if it does it means you may not need as many of them to do the job thereby saving $$$.
As I said earlier, Granddaughter #2 was a real grump at her party today:
After a 2 hour nap (and after most everyone went home) she was much happier....
I'm about to dissapear down into the lower regions of my house to play with trains for a while!

Been about to scream over the spider web of wires under my wife's (HO) layout. Came up with the following idea. How about having 2 of these (see pic), each wired to one of the variable DC screws of the transformer. From each terminal strip, connect all the wires from one side of each LED and screw in place. Then same for other side wires to the other strip. (hope that makes sense) The copper wire is from the ground of some 12/2 that I pulled apart. Thoughts and/or suggestions? Is there a simpler solution for hooking up/powering all the layout LEDs?

Afternoon folks!
Nothing for me right now, Flo.. just got home from a party...
The party girl was in a very sour mood most of the day! Ill tempered, grumpy, no smiles (well she did smile a couple times when she saw grandpa's camera pointed at her, but THAT was it. She had already been sent to "time out" twice before company arrived, and then after lunch when we sang happy birthday and she got her cake and ice cream, she threw it on the floor on purpose and made a mess! Not a very nice little girl today, made Grandpa sad. She ended up being put to bed for a 2 hour nap. She was in a better mood when she woke up. I bet she was excited last night and didn't sleep well. She is usually a sweetheart! I got some photos of her opening presents (after the nap)... Will post later. The sweetheart of the day was my 6 year old Grand Niece who has just joined Girl Scouts. She sat and snuggled with me on the couch in the living room when we were all sitting chatting. She told me all about what she is doing in Girl Scouts. I think she misses her Grandpa who died last Fall and has adopted me.... Her mom is one of the GS leaders.
The liquid sunshine has started in earnest around these parts. Already had 1/4" if it with another 1/2 inch predicted tonight. Tomorrow will be more of the same until around noon when it will change over to the white, frozen same stuff. They say it will accumulate 6 to 10" of it tomorrow followed by 5 to 8 more inches tomorrow night. 'Tis March in the Finger Lakes.
I brought in more wood as soon as I got home and will fill the wheelbarrow one more time before sundown tonight at least to make sure I will have fuel for the stove as the temperatures fall. Got up to 50°F a couple hours ago and with the rain, we have some very full creeks and streams around here at the moment. i haven't checked down cellar to see if any has leaked in the train rooms......
Catch you all later!
Hey Everyone,
Flo, a large cola to go please.
Just wanted to jump in here and say Hi, to everyone. Just got back from the Model Train Show in Asheville NC was a little surprised by the turn out, they needed a much larger space. The place was so crowded and you could not move in the aisles, went to find some switches and some switch machines but none of the vendors had any code 83 track. Lots of code 100 stuff, so I ended up with three Southern Crescent Limited passenger cars new from IHC for 30 bucks.
Well I am heading up to the studio, see you all soon.

Hey guys
Just dropping in before my dad's half-brother shows up here on his way to Daytona.
Been working on that essay I have to do, but not geeting far. I managed to get one of the girls (the one I like too) at work to ask me out...
I managed to get a few more FR centerbeams. A UP, BN, and undec. Undec is for parts (mostly ends for my MILW), but I need to get some paint to match the MILW and UP for some touch-up.
Gonna catch up later since they were only 10 minutes out.
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Strong coffee in a SOGGY SOUTHERN mug, please.
Question: Any chance some of you would be so kind as to post pics of your wiring? In particular, how you hook up all the lighting on your layouts? I would be most appreciative.
Been hooking up lighting on the wife's (HO) layout today and just don't like how it looks. There must be a neater way to do this. If I was starting over, I sure would have done things differently.
Healing thoughts to those in need.
Good to see you back Galaxy. Sorry to hear of the medical problems.
Good morning. It's 62° with thunderstorms. The high is due to be 64° with thunderstorms.Nothing really on the schedule today. I may get some ballast work in later but with the humidity being up from the rain that's doubtful. I would want to do it when the drying conditions are best and there's a lot of track to be ballasted. No, today would probably be best spent keeping my weight off my feet. Word on my mother's condition is that while she's showing some improvement physically shes not showing improvement mentally. She keeps thinking she's at home then when she realizes she's in the hospital she gets madder than a wet hen. That doesn't help her blood pressure and other problems much but she can't come home yet as she can't take care of herself yet. Better she be where she can be monitored and taken care of. I can't take care of her. I have enough problems taking care of myself and I have trouble lifting twenty-five pounds much less moving it. My sister, brother-in-law, niece and her husband all work and can't help much and my nephew wants as little to with her as possible. God forbid the time he wastes doing little or nothing with his friends should be used doing something constructive for someone besides himself.
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, cup of dark roast coffee to go...
Galaxy! Good to see you. Sorry to hear about what is going on with you and the family. I was starting to get worried about you.....
Todd, thanks! The larger room has been much, much easier to get all the little parts in place and have them stay put. The rest of the stuff i have to do is to build a few workbenches, add some "supplies", shelving, boxes of scrap material, tools, etc. They should go much faster.
I am out the door to a Birthday Party (Granddaughter #2) so will be gone most of the day.
have a good one!
Hi guys
I know I have been MIA for about 3 weeks and see some have missed me. NIce to know one can be missed.
I had a migraine, vomiting and diarhea {sp?} for 15 days before I finally went to the ER.I was gonna wait til a Monday to see my regular Dr., but changed my mind Sat morn. I was gonna go that day when My Other Half {MOH} got off work, but early in the day MOH got a call that MIL was in ER witha nother mini stroke more on that later. SO MOH bounced between two ER rooms, one with me in it, and one with MIL in it! They gave me some 3 liters of fluids I desparately needed as I was severely dehydrated, tried medications for the pain and gave me a steroid. Then they sent me home still with pain, but with a script for Percocet and Prednisolone steroid med pack. That seemed to help and the steroids gave me back an appetite as I had zero appetite for 4 days before going in. I lost 15 lbs in that time! {good}. Then this past week or so, I have been just recouperating formt he headache. The Percocet seems to work. I get major migraines when the weather/barometric pressure changes. ANd this Feb the temp would be cold 2-3 days, then warm 2-3 days with High and Low fronts moving in L and R all the time so I figure that is why I was in agony for the whole time. I feel better now. But I couldn't even LOOK at the computer screen without my eyes bugging out, let alone try to type! I wore dark sunglasses around the house as sensitive to the ligths.
Now for the MIL: She keeps having min-strokes and they will continuie to happen and "nibble away at her life", and her organs are shutting down. One week she is OK at home, the next in the hospital again. They have opted to give her end-of-life Hospice Care at home for 6 months. Unfortunately she could last longer than that. They sent a hospital bed home with her for ease of getting her up and out of bed. SHe gets dazed and confused, doesn't eat much and is sometimes more coherent than other times.
Now for the FIL: his cast came off his broken ankle, and they gave him a brace to wear. Unfortunately the brace caused him blisters adn he got an infection. He went to ER while MOH stayed with MIL {as they are not yet set up for on-call hospice yet}, and found out the infection was serious enough to cause gang-greene {sp?} and they were gonna check him into the hospital. Then, after they cleaned up the infection {a cup and half's worth of fluid, puss, etc} and ran blood tests, decided he could go home with antibiotics and not have to stay in the hospital.
MOH is missing at least one day of work a week over medical issues with MIL and FIL, which we can ill afford. WE are broke. WE are bankrupt. After 4 plumbing bills including one for frozen pipes and new heat tape, and two heating bills, and about $3k in repairs to the Caravan, and MOH missing work, we are paying min. on CC's and lucky to get bills paid. I will tell you MOH got a lot of $ back in taxes last year, but this year is barely into a higher tax bracket, and will be getting about a third of last years, which we looked forward to to try and pay down/off CC bills. WE also WILL need new skirting installed, the trailer leveled, and the roof resealed this year. The skirting has heaved and thawed enough to cut right throuhg the cuff that holds in to the trailer. so we have screwed it temporarily to the trailer to hold it. We can get cited by the park for the skirting being off. that will cost $950 cash. Roof is $250 plus supplies cost so about $500. and don't know yet the cost of leveling the trailer. New skirting without leveling is STUPID. I was ahead in payments on the KIa, but have backed off to use $ to pay on the CCs to get them down. HAte paying interest.
Robby P. was sorry to hear of your breakup. Too bad, MOH and I went through the "7 yr. itch" at 6 yrs, and due to cheating behind my back, I almost left. But I decided to stay with some new rules to go by. Now at 11 years, neither of us can imagine being without the other, and I doubt we will ever separate, we are too much of each other.
ULRICH, JEFFRY W. I see need prayers for Mothers. given, and I request for both my MIL and FIL, too! so you all need to say lots of prayers! We put up prayer candle every day for those who need it and for MIL of course.
CUDA KEN. I can't begin to tell you what is up with SSI. I am on SSD, a whole nother story, and MOH and I are not married, so I get my full entitled benefit.. What you need to do is go to the nearest local Social Security Office, {most likely in a county seat and a Federal Building of some sort} take a number, go to the window ask to be seen by a worker who can review Sue's case, armed with your new wage/commission statements and find out what the real scoop is. They can work out what her payment will be. Remember she won't get so much as she is married to you and you make quite a bit now in SS's eyes to support her. I would do this as PRONTO as you can as if they over pay her, they will sanction or deduct from future checks, and she may get nothing or get denied all together. They CAN do that.
Well, I guess that is an update for now. I am tired of tyoing as I havent for 3 weeks, and need to go pick up 3 scripts at the pharmacy.
Have a good day y'all.

HO and N Scale.
After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Morning y'all. Its currently pouring rain outside, with a high of 64 expected for today. Showers will taper off during the evening/overnight hours as a cold front moves through, locally heavy rain is to be expected.
I'll just have an order of biscuits and gravy with a tall glass of chocolate milk please. Have to go to w*rk today from 930 to 530 and after that I dunno. Yesterday was a more or less complete bust as we spent most of the day in Montgomery after Amy's doctor's appointment (not complaining, got to spend some quality time with the family). Tomorrow is church and possibly some MRR stuff.
Ahhh, I see my food is here, so I'm just going to plant right here at the RC and enjoy it.
Barry, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, but best of luck on the band.
Robby, glad to hear that you and Jess will still be friends, but sucks to hear that you two are splitsville, sir. Prayers and well wishes are still to you.
So....has anyone seen Galaxy, Ulrich, or Jim, kinda getting a little worried by their absense.
Good Morning!! Chicory coffee please. Second thought, I heard the stuff was caffeine free and I need the caffeine this morning iiiiiiit’s CHILI DAY!!!! Well, got a gulley worsher last evening. Not as bad as was predicted, cause it only lasted a couple hours. Worst went south of us I guess. Probably right across Ken, Jerry and Inch. Not sure if Jim was gonna need a boat, don't know if it went that far south, but I think it’s probabaly a good thing he’s not on the first floor. No water in our basement, hope Ray can say the same, though the sump pump is really working over time. Haven’t checked Moms for water yet. That will be tonight, no time today and even if I did, no time to do anything about it.. More than likely she will. Barry- Sorry to hear about your friend. Ray- I tell you what, you work much more on that engine house and I’ll be swearing those are giant pliers instead of it being a tiny building. Looks fantastic. Galaxy missing is sorta worrying me too. I hope all is well with him.

Ken- Glad you’re not floating. Congrats on the record breaking month. Ironic the news was followed by nothing. Good news about the bonus though. Not sure about Sue’s news. Kinda have an idea what it is (you ole dog you ). Why do people say that? Like it’s a surprise married couples… . Strange. Anyway, what I would do with the mystery money is take what you believe you are to get from SSI, spend it as you normally do. Take the excess they sent/send you and put it in a savings account, Yah, I know, but a penny interest is a penny more than you had before. Here’s the theory. You know the government wants their money now, so if they discover they’ve mad a mistake, it’s there and you have no trouble coming up with it to give back. Or, if it turns out you can, then the penny in interest is yoursand that's profit, pure profit. Plus, if it takes a few months to find out you can keep it, then there is either a nifty little bonus or a start for a savings account by saying, “gee, since I haven’t been using it yet, I’ll just chuck a couple bucks in there ever so often and see what happens with THAT change jar in a few years.
News fro Toddland (of which I'm king): Good news on the turnout situation. After laying the curved turnout and the wye along with the one of two pieces of track required to complete the loop, I went over to the side with the switch I mentioned before that wouldn’t stay against the rails. Well, I was pushing a different string of cars, (running an engine on the tracks would require me to remove the paper towels I have covering the tracks in the entrances and the parts of the tunnels that are getting plaster cloth for obvious reasons. And I want to wait until I finish making a mess first) anyway, pushed a different set across the switch and it worked fine several time. So I used the first set and the switch failed. I noticed it was one car that was having a problem (and the rest behind it of course) mainly because then I noticed it seemed to ride high going over the frog like running over something. A speed bump. So out comes the car and it worked fine. Looked at the wheel and you can tell just by looking, out of gage. So, I will be utilizing the old NMRA gage and trying it again. These were e-bay cars I had aquired before I acquired the gage so it doesn’t surprise me.
Well, time to get the chili heated back up in the crockpots. Gotta be there by 1130 and since Brenda is in charge of setting the thing up…., I doubt if I will be able to wait that long to leave if you know what I mean.
EDIT: Well, teased Ray about it and now I'm paying for it. Order up guys, it's Saturday.
Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

TA462 jeffrey-wimberly: GMTRacing: Jeff - more of the silly prices for fuel in the offing. Is the van carbureated or injected? If it has a carb, you might see if you can lean it out a bit to get more mileage. Don't know from memory if yours has fixed changeable jets or adjustable metering rods. I assume it has electronic ignition and no cat. Is that correct.? What sort of speeds do you normally travel at? Carbureted, no electronic feedback, no EGR, fixed changeable jets, carburetor is leaned out already, electronic coil firing module, no cat. Engine is 318 with 3 speed automatic. Max speed I drive is 55. Jeff, if you lean out the carb it will actually use MORE gas because the engine will be starving for fuel and the motor will pop and ping while your driving. If you want better gas mileage get rid of all the items in it you don't need or use. Extra seats, etc and get taller rear tires. That will help you more then you think.

Good morning.
Got a few things to do with my buddy today, and then just hang out tonight. I did get a interview from his ex. father in law about a job. He said he probably won't need anybody for a couple of weeks (auto-body), but he will keep me in mind. I hope that job works out.
Ron..........Yeah NC isn't bad. I lived here for 25 years before I moved. I'm only about two hours from you.
I will stop in later.
"Rust, whats not to love?"
Good Morning
Rain, Rain, and more Rain today..and lots of it by the sounds of it out there..we are currently sitting at 44F going to a high of near 48F today then it will cool off tonight giving us about 2" of snowflurries ..before it all clears up tomorrow...
I'm having an early morning call today...so gotta run...
Flo, I'll have a breakfast wrap and a coffee to go please...have a good day people!!
Cederstrand ***Jeffrey, turns out it is going to be a "manual" switch. Oh well. Perhaps one day (when the rest of oour layouts are done) I will replace it. Curious, how long do the solenoids usually last for? Question: Are (N scale) low profile wheels more or less likely to derail than high profile wheels? If it makes a difference, my layout uses Kato Unitrack. Still trying to find the energy to head back down to the train room, but fatigue is working against me tonight. Cheers! Rob

***Ray, very sharp work there. Happy Birthday to Granddaughter #2 and enjoy spoiling her rotten, as I'm sure you will.
Evening Folks Boy that was a big one. Yep thunderstorms are rolling by.
Flo Dinner tap is on me tonight.
Work Front Got a call form my boss (Ben) today. Store did set a new record with $48,000.00 in sales. Owner (Berry) was so pleased he is giving me a extra $250.00 on top of my normal commission. I backed up that good news by selling nothing today!
Called Sue to give her the good news, and she had some here self, I think? This is where I need Galaxy's help.
Sues SSI.
1 Feb 11, she got a letter telling her that her payment was going from $253.00 a month to $103.50 a month
2 Letter dated around the 15th said she would not receive any more funds period!
3 Called local SSI offices and they said the letter was a mistake, and in fact she was under paid for DEC 2010. She would get her normal check of $253.00 and later in March she would receive a make up check.
4 February 26th got normal her check for $253.00.
5 February 28th got another check for $275.00, must be the make up for Dec 2010. OK, we take that.
6 Today when I called her about the bonus, she told me SSI sent her another check for $578.00. Her next check will be for $511.10 and not $578.00 because she was over paid?
7 We where told her maximum payment would be $253.00? Last letter did state her normal payment will now be $578.00 less $67.00 they are withholding due to the fact she was over paid? I am sure this is going to bite us in the Caboose in the long run. But one thing we have learned so far! Take the money and run! Sue was over paid $1,300.00 and we sent the check back to SSI. While they confirmed they got the checks back, they still say we owe them $1,300.00 hence the $67.00 they are with holding from Sues new amount that I am sure is wrong!
Train Front There are sure some good folks here! Simon 1966 (member) to the rescue! Simon is dropping of one of his Radio DT 402 throttles Sunday so I can send my DT 400 in for repairs. Simon is just one of those kind of guys that will pull you butt out of the frying pan. He has helped me a lot in the last few years and I could not wish for a better friend!
Berry Sorry to hear about your friend. My self, when it is my time I hope I go quickly. I don't want a lingering illness. I hope the band works out.
Robby P What part of NC are you in? I was stationed at Ft Bragg while I was in the Army and really like the state. Charlotte was one of the pretties town I had ever been in. Plus I like the fact the natives think 40 degrees is real cold! Are you going to keep doing the weathering job's? If so, I might be able to afford one of your masterpieces.
Ulrich Hope to here some good news from you real soon. Miss seeing you here at the dinner, plus I am picking up the beer tap tonight.
Galaxy where are you? Did you switch to Charter? If so, I understand why you are MIA. Charter sucks!
Thank you all for reading my wandering postings and hope all is well in your life.
Flo, coffee please.
Have not been in lately so just dropped by to catch up. supposed to rain here in the smokeys this weekend and they already have the flood warnings up. Still no progress on the layout, the bench work is done and I have cut out some sub- road bed, but still am not happy with my track plan. Tomorrow I am going to the Asheville Model Railroad show then off to do some railfanning.
Robby P.; Welcome to North Carolina, Its not to bad here but the taxes will surprise you.
Good Night All, Thoughts and Prayers to those in need, and their Mom,s.
Evening all.
Haven't been in in a few days because I was kinda busy trying to get stuff done before lax started today.
Just for the sake of repeating myself, lacrosse started today. Already rough on me. I finally got cleared two days ago, so I am still far from being in shape. I ran two miles in just over eighteen minutes. Not great, not horrible. Then after that, I started to get dizzy. I told the trainer, and she told me to be done for the day, and talk to her tomorrow. Didn't miss too much during practice; they only did some more running and a little passing.
Tiny team. We only had twelve players there today. There are a few more that have yet to get approval to play, and a few that are academically inelegible. Aside from those few, everyone else quit.
Gonna be a busy weekend. We have practice tomorrow morning, and our hockey banquet Sunday morning. I also found out today that I need my gym paper (because I missed a certain amout this quarter) is due on Monday, so I need to get that done. Tons of other homework as well. On top of that, I have to get moving on my five page history paper (the one that I'm doing on trains), which is due April 1st.
Ayayay...
Just registered for the ACT. Taking it April 9th.They asked so many questions during the registration. On one section, we had to rate seventy-two activities by "like doing, dislike doing, or indifferent." Most random activities they could choose. Building a PICTURE FRAME??? Reparing a TREE (is that even POSSIBLE???)???
Why... Just, why?
In MRR news, well, I'm too lazy and tired to type. See here:https://sites.google.com/site/tristaterail/layoutabout/blog/photosEnjoy, and more to come!
Well, I better start getting ready to close up for the night. We have practice at eight tomorrow morning. We're supposed to be there by 7:45 so that we can be ready by eight, and I need to talk to the trainer beforehand. Luckily, practice only goes till ten. Then, it's off to the library to get books for the history paper.

Good Evening All,
End of practice and qualifying here at Sebring. We're ok so far but lost the night enduro with a puncture about 5 mins from the end while in the lead with the R-8.
I see Ulrich and Galaxy are still missing. Hope Ulrichs' mom is doing better. Glad to hear things are looking up for Robby and hope the rest of you lot are doing ok. Catch Y'all Later, J.R.
Flo just a decaf.... What? Flip is paying.... Hmmmm? Nah, I don't to use up all his pictures of dead presidents. just the decaf would be fine.
Barry, how awful! I'll keep his family in my prayers.
I have been hiding down cellar tonight getting more done on the engine house. I think I have finally got all the belt work and machinery installation done. Just need a lot more detail. No sooner sat down to start in on the belt drives when the phone rang. I leaned over to check caller ID and it was a friend from church. He has helped me many times when I needed one more for ushering.... Guess what he was calling about? Looks like I will be going to church after all this Sunday.... to usher.
Tomorrow is Granddaughter #2's Birthday so you know where I will be spending most of the day.
Here is where the Engine House project is at the moment (more photos in the WPF thread).
