It's been a busy day for us, but with temperatures around 64 degrees right now, who can complain. We got up early this morning and had breakfast at our usual restaurant, then to the Post Office to mail a birthday gift to a great niece, then to the library. On checking out, the wife's card was expired so we had to get that renewed. I asked the lady if I could get mine renewed so I wouldn't have to bother with it a couple of weeks from now. Sure, she says. Oh oh. I owe fines of over $10.00. She says they date back to 2006. I ask how can that be when I've renewed my card a number of times since then and no mention was ever made of this before. She doesn't know, but decides to just erase most of them. How much does anyone want to bet this is going to come back and bite me in the *** again. Oh well, just the joys of modern technology I guess.

Since it was such a nice day, I stopped at the car wash on the way home. But once home, the outside looked so good compared to the inside, we spent the next two hours giving the inside a really good cleaning. The car is looking pretty good right now. I suspect that cleaning the car means we will have a snow storm in the next day or two.

Ray. You might have mentioned it and I just missed it, but will your little shop have a stean engine to drive the belts, or are you going to power it in some other manner?

Everybody have a good one. Me, I'm going to go take a shower and then a little nap before dinner. See ya.

Thanks for the well wishes folks. My mother's coming home tomorrow, so they say. After two days on a vision quest I'm tired but well at ease. I found answers to many of my questions but not all the ones I wanted. Today I'll be getting some rest. My ankle feels like somebody snapped it in half even though I've been off it for about forty-eight hours.

Good Afternoon All,

All the way up to 54F today as we struggle getting packed to go. I'll have an RBF and a slice of blueberry pie alamode for my break.

Welcome back Jeff. Though you didn't find all the answers (and who ever does?) we hope you found some peace.

To answer Lees' question, I sort of model the New Haven in the area around where I live - say from Norwalk to Pittsfield using New Haven power and scenes as suit the area. I hope to be able to have the loop yard at Danbury in this iteration along with an urban scene as before and a large river so I have an excuse to use the Beichstaller Bridge I've carefully protected all these years. Kept the tunnel it went into also though the New Haven only has one stinky little short tunnel. On the otherhand, it is my railroad.   Wink J.R.

 Afternoon folks!

Flo, Big Boy Sub, tender of fries and a pitcher of Beer and a frosted Monon Mug.

Lots of running around today. Left the house at 9:45 AM and did not get home till 1:45 PM, then I ran to K-10 Model Trains to pick up some supplies for Jeffery.

Speaking of K-10 Remember when I was said Tony (from the site) came over last week and I installed LED's in his Atlas engines and I was not impressed with the quality? One had a broken motor mount and trucks where to lose.

Today while I was at K-10 I asked Ken (owner) about Tony Engine. Get this Tony told Ken the guy that installed the LED's dropped the engine? Grumpy Engine had a bent frame, broken motor mount and the mounting pins on the trucks where broken off! While Tony was here I heard something hit the floor. I asked Tony if he dropped a engine, he said something fell out of his shirt pocket! He must have had the GP 38 in his pocket. Big Smile Guess Tony did not know Ken and I where friends and that I would follow up on the engine.

Trapper Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as far as the Blower is concern. Now, I did not cut up the hood, I could not bring myself to do it. But a fellow MOPAR friend did find one that was cut for a tunnel ram so I used that one.

Daytona, you mean one of theses? Big Smile

I did work on both of the above, but they are not mine. I use to run a body shop and worked on them while I was there for friends. I have all so got to drive 4 Daytona's as well. Have a lot of Mopar friends.

My 69 Charger came close to becoming a Daytona Clone.

In this picture I had the 1970 Modified Charger Fenders on the car and the 70 Charger Hood and was test fitting the wing and installing the in trunk mounting bracket's and wind washers. But Lee was just to slow on making the fiberglass parts (only one order filled in 16 months) so I sold the Daytona Parts and went back to the 69 front end. Then I went with the Huffer, not as cool as Daytona, but still gets looks.

I still have a Daytona, but it is a 1991. Still a cool little car, it is a SE with the ground effects and spoiler. If I ever get back into the hard core state of mind it will get a new computer controlled 360 out of a Dodge Ram or the new Ram Hemi.

Gary Hard to tell what you saw, but I would still guess it was a new Challenger. Some do have a strip on the side. (like a 1971 Challenger) Only Cuda that had a strip on the side was the 1970 AAR Cuda, but there antenna was on the right rear quarter not the right front fender like all the other Cuda's. One of the reason's I know this is my 70 Cuda has RFF is of a AAR Cuda.

Well I am sure the none Mopar fans eyes are starting to bleed by now.

        See you all later.

Jeff-Glad to see you back and your vision quest gave you answers.

Ken-Nice Daytonas How do those things drive?

Not much new from me. Had to sit through an assembly about the ACT/PSAE. I understand why they do it but half of the people talked through it and it wasn't exactly fresh information. Same thing we've been told since freshman year. State required...very important....colleges look at these.....employers look at these... two days....very important. ugh.

Hey guys

Changed out the fuel pump on my car today. I drained the tank in preparation for cleaning it, but the inside was very clean. Hardest part was getting in back in.

Robby, I think I have a jar of paint that is really close to it, so when it gets Kadees (When I buy some) I'll paint them.

Jeff, Welcome back. Some answers is better than none, right?

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Jeff! Nice to have you back. When you have a chance can you tell me about your quest? As you know I have an intense curiosity about anything having to do with native American customs and tradition.

Maybe in a few days. It was pretty intense and I have to think about what happened.

Good Morning,

Jeff good to have you back and good to hear your mom might be coming home soon.

Spent a couple hours last night doing graphic layout work; the LS&W, WT, and Heartland panels are done.  I started on 6 others but don’t have the polish on them yet.  I spent an additional hour reviewing historic RR advertisements for inspiration.  I found the M.E.S.S. and PC’s Autumn Rail and Navigation panel but waiting for their permission to use them.  Ulrich, I have an idea and will be sending you an email soon…

I’m glad to hear people still rely on their ancestors traditions in times of trouble. I’m of German-Scottish-Irish heritage and I seem to be drawn to the dart board at the local pub in times of doubt, maybe I can learn something from Jeff’s example…

Good Morning All,

A regular to go please. It's in the thirties already this morning. Headed out to the trailers to try to get all that sorted today. Usually by the end of winter, all the spares boxes have been rifled through and it all looks like Fergies (MESS).

Did get some more cleaning done and the second half of the trainroom floor done last night. It is of course now two different shades so the first half will need a second coat to look even similar. Just another visit from Murphy.  Here's my coffee and times a'wastin so CUL, J.R.

Good Morning!! Bagel with that strawberry flavored cream cheesey spread stuff please. Oh yes and coffee. Thanks.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54.

Jeff- Glad your Mothers coming home. I hope that means she is doing well.

Yesterday morning, Ya’ll sittin down? Yesterday morning I went downstairs and started on my bridge. Yup, got one support put together. What I’m creating is my version of this

http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/255-75530

I am using two deck girders I had from previous layout but no through girder. The center section will not be centered because the track it goes over is at an angle and with the way the opening in the bench work etc well, you know the deal. I have to have that type of supports due to the span, track arrangement and because there isn’t room for a pier......Indifferent Well I suppose there may be now that I think of it.Hmm I could make a concrete one out of a witch. I mean wood. (they both float) Hmmmmm I have an ideaMischief. Anyway, I think I’ll maybe, (here we go again) show some pictures of my progress since I once again figured out how to take a picture without a flash.

I also want a bridge on the south end. My Pratt Truss I have. I can come up with a good reason to have one and I think it would make for a nice scene. But it’s on the downslope of my grade to return to the main level. Have to think about that.

Well, best get movin. I have the trucks to deal with, work at 5, and my friends funeral is at 1pm today with visitation at 11. The burial will be up on the hill. Then I need to visit my other friend who has been in the hospital for a month. The stints he got weren’t the problem but the Gall Bladder was....is. They had him shot so full of dye and everything trying to figure out what was wrong with him when he went in to emergency after the second time, his liver shut down, his pancreas quit, and his kidneys shut down. All from tests trying to find something wrong that wasn't because they just didn’t think it was the Gall Bladder. The sonagram (sp)said it was, (or something like that) but the docs thought it had something to do with the surgery and stints or some such nonsense. Intense abdominal pain on the right side about the bottom of the ribcage. THAT is what he went to the hospital for the very first time when they said “gee, we think you could use a stint or two”. Anyway he’s pretty messed up right now but at home. He goes to dialysis two or three times a week, but his liver and pancreas are working now. Just has drain tubes hanging out all over the place. The docs now say it’s probably his Gall Bladder after all, but because of the thinners he’s on for the stint, they can’t remove it. Maybe they’ll look at taking it out in March. Isn’t that insane?

Fortunately mine doesn't require anything like that. If it did I wouldn't have been able to send our young Mr Parks on a quest of his own at the age of twelve (2005). His was a short one and was part of his rite of passage to manhood. Ever since he's been an absolute nut about anything concerning Native American spiritual traditions. He's not of Native American descent but that didn't stop me from giving him his Indian name when he completed the rite of passage just as was done with me by my grandfather in 1972.

Good morning. It's 62° and cloudy. The high should be 74° and it will be mostly cloudy.

I'm hoping to get started on some more layout work soon. Just waiting on some ballast and ground foam. However nearly anything is welcome. Not much planned for today other than staying off my feet. The Charcot condition is still flared up. It softens the bones somewhat and that makes for some intense pain when I put my weight on them

Barry ... When will we see a 1/87 replica of that vehicle in the Walthers catalog?

Jeff ... I'm sad you must endure so much pain. Hope your Mom is OK.

Hector ... Good to see you. Please visit the diner often.

I put this photo in Weekend Photo Fun WPF. I have more creative ideas, but no time for the layout in past two weeks.

Garry- I really like the scene. It looks......, well, natural. Very nice. If it were me though, and this is purely a suggestion, I would put a few, not very many, maybe two or three total at the most, but a few trees close to say one near the office and maybe one by the, what look slike a repurposed train car on the back. But that's just a thought. There are many places just like what you've done and it carries well with the backdrop. But it's still great just the way it is.

Jeff- I keep thinking of the picture of the Charcot foot you linked to. That just looks.......the word painful isn't strong enough. I don't know how you do it hoss.

EDIT: Aaaaand what does Barry post as I was suggesting trees? No trees..Laugh Laugh

I have an understanding of the native American vision quest.

And much like our Christian questioning/prayers, we, too, may find answers to our questions and prayers, but not always the ones we wanted or sought.

And perhaps, therein lies the insight we need, though we may not readily see it.

With my best wishes, May you come to see.

Mornin'......

Coffee.....  need coffee, zoe!  Lots of dark roast coffee.....  Please!  Oh bring over a breakfast bagel w/ cheese as well, but first bring me coffee!

Turned off the computer around 1AM this morning.  Printing up the copies of our new Division Newsletter to be sent out to those who don't have email.....  I should say, for whom we don't have an email address......  I will be sending out a request along with the newsletter asking for them to give me their email so we can save the expense of printing and mailing.  I'm doing this on 28lb. paper in photo mode on the Canon printer.  Looks nice!

Once again I have several errands to run today.  I also need to get together with my sister sometime before she leaves for a trip to Mexico soon.  So most of today will be shot for anything similar to modeling.Grumpy

Jeffrey, glad you are back from your quest, and glad you found some answers.  You continue to be in my prayers during this troubling time.  Hope the charcot eases up soon and you can be feeling a bit better.

Barry, I do like THAT.....  Ah....  Vehicle.

Hope you all have a geat day!

Howdy all. I was too sick to go into work today, but not sick enough to just lie around the house idle in front of the tv all day. So, thought I'd make a rare drop-in at the diner.

I read back a few pages and you know, there's some pretty good Joes hanging out here. Might have to come back a little more often (espcially when I can have some of this fine food without having to rush off to the restroom afterward... Grumpy)

 Lunch time.

Last night wasn't a bad night, just fighting a headache right now.    I just checked my email and that Home Depot will call me to set up a interview.   The Wal-Mart job is 3.5 miles away but the Home Depot job is about 25 miles.   I think I would like the "HD" job more.

Not much planned today.  Get rid of this headache, and take it easy.

Good Evening Gang!

As I came home past 11 pm yesterday, it was a sort of sluggish day for me today - all sleepy! I only managed to get out the order for some more track and that power pack I need to get the first train running. I hope it does not take ages for the stuff to arrive - I am eager to see my little Mike performing on her maiden voyage.

Flo, mug of hot chocolate please, nuttin´ to eat.

Jeff - I am just glad you found some answers. This may be way more than most of us can say. I am still searching to find new roots or a place for my soul to rest.

Robby - still pulling for you!

Garry - GREAT picture!

Barry - I sometimes wonder where you find all these oddities...

I nearly forgot to tell you - my "End of the line at Cimarron" HOn3 plan made it into Carl Arendt´s Small Layout Scrapbook! I am a little proud of having one of my plans published Smile, Wink & Grin

If you like, take a look here

Have fun!

The mess in that picture is mild compared to mine. I just have to grin and bear it and try not to snap the head off of the person who says 'It can't hurt that much'. The heck it can't!

Strong coffee in a  Burlington Northern  mug, please. This overcast day here reminds me of WA weather where BN roamed the tracks.

***Garry, that is one beautifully detailed scene. Truly excellent work. Also like the contrast between the passenger train and old scrap cars. Well done!Yes

Laugh@Lee***OK, I'm Russian, Austrian, Polish and German with a smidge of English. With my ancestry, I could "down some vodka, strap on skis, sail down the steepest slope possible, at the bottom of which would await beer & crumpets???Whistling

Cheers! Cowboy Rob
