Good Morning! Coffee and WHOOOOOOOOAAA! THAT was a shocking experience! What? Oh, Ray has his seat “wired”. I was wondering just how you “reserve” a seat for someone. I’ll have the chicken fried steak with gravy and eggs scrambled loose please. Thank you.

Sister is suppose to come by this morn. (great joy) Of course she was suppose to come by Monday. No show. Typical.  Well see. She’s suppose to be here about 8:30 this am local.

Mac’s, I don’t use a computer enough to know which one works best. Mostly use it to cruise the internet in a very limited way, keep track of bills using a simple bank program (Quiken Basic of which I use in just the simplest way.) And the typewriter part. I would say not even Word processor, because of the way I use it, a typewriter would still suffice for me. I also use a spreadsheet from time to time. Very basic and simple. I use Windows because that was what was popular way back when when I got my first one of these corntraptions. I have had no problems with the computers, nor have I with any programs. I can’t say that one is any better or worse than the other. Basically, a car can’t do everything a truck can do, and a truck can’t do everything a car can. So I’m with Ray, you have to pick which works best for you.

Facebook. Yup I’m on it. Why? Well a buddy talked me into it because he thought it would be a grand idea to keep in touch with old high school classmates. Classmates.com is not suitable for that unless you want to pay. I have no personal information to speak of on there, and I do not post the idle chit chat either. I save that for hereWhistling. I pretty much just have it as a contact book for those “friends” to reach. I’ll admit it is nice to see in pictures what they look like and what they’ve been doing. Like a friend of mine has a son who lives in Norway. He posts pictures and things and we are able to see and vist with him as if he’s here. Things like that. I did get to playing Farmville, though now I just pretty much exist to use as a neighbor count and a sender of occasional presents. (If you have played the thing you know what I mean. If you haven’t, you wouldn’t care.) So most of the page is covered with Farmville stuff. Again, you’d have to experience it to know what I mean. Personally I think it’s a great thing. It allows people to keep in touch easier than E-mail. But, as with anything there are going to be the people who are rude, crude and socially unacceptable. Ever sat in a restaurant and listened, (hard not to sometimes) to some of the conversations people have? And their language?  (shakes head) Luckily I haven’t had any reports on anyones mating triumphs. But I do know when some of my female friends are taking a long hot relaxing bath with candles. Enticing I must admit, but alas, no offers to join. Probably just as well. I prefer a shower. I just don’t feel like I get the shampoo rinsed out of my hair or the soap off me well enough in a bath. So, if anyone wants or needs another friend, ( I don't request. Don't mean to sound rude or arrogant, I'm not. I just don't)feel free to ask, but don’t expect to hear much out of me. This Diner is pretty much the extent of my social activities. Yes

For you guys speaking of track reliability, I’ll tell you I haven’t had one derailment or stall in a several monthsConfused. I must be doing something right. Laugh

Welp, gonna grab a magazine and poop now. Sorry!Embarrassed Talking about Facebook and all...., my fault.

Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

Morning California

Flo, I take some scrambled eggs, hash brown's, side of bacon, toast and milk please.

Gary Thanks for the tip, but at this point if I where to get anymore cars, it would be bland ones like normal people drive. If I get to build the new layout, there is going to be a little less room for the town of Kingsdown so I need less cars anyway.

Well I am off today and Friday, and sure feel like I need it.

Guess I have ran out of things to say, see you later today.

Morning California

Nothing much planned for today.

Facebook, I'm there, but I don't go their much. It's kind of depressing really to see how clueless some of the people you know are. (like the one girl on mine who marveled that the pine trees were still green on new years....)

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have a couple of slices of French Toast (use Raisin if you would), side order of bacon, and leave the bottle of Maple Syrup right on the table....  Oh and a cup of dark roast coffee in a FGLK mug, Please.

I slept in late this morning.  The cold has kept me from getting much sleep for the past several nights so a bit if extra felt good.  Think I am turning the corner on the cold now, coughing a lot less.

Today is pick up for all the kiddies Art and Poetry for the MLK Contest.  I will be getting the primary school and the intermediate school.  Then we have to go over to the Geneva Community Center (aka: Boys and Girls Club) to sort it into piles for the "judges".  By the time I dig out here it will be almost time to do the pick up.  So today will be pretty much shot for anything else.

The storm appears to have left around 7" of white stuff on the ground.  Drifts are over 2' but other areas are almost bare.  Wind likes to do some "Art Work" I guess.  Was bored last night, so I got the tripod and camera out and went outside and took some time photography of the neighborhood:

My favorite, looking accross my back yard into the backyards up the street:

Later!

Good Afternoon All!

Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes on this cold Thursday other then while looking for those 2 blasted boxcars I open a shoe box and found a project from 2006-a Spectrum 0-6-0 that I dropped and stepped on and had forgotten..After checking everything it wasn't as bad as I thought and a few detail parts, some ABS "L" shape plastic and some paint and it will be good to go..I cleaned and oil 'round then I put 'er on my test track and it ran after sitting 4 years and surviving a flood.I am going to order the parts from Walthers and fix 'er up..I still don't know why I removed this engine from my inventory list..

I shall have a Diet Pepsi and look over the forum.

Have a good'un!

Good Evening All!

Just a brief stop before I hit the sofa. It´s been a long day at w*rk and I am rightfully tired.

Zoe, just a mug of plain ol´ hot chocolate for me, and some cookies to munch on - I am too tired to have a full meal.

Guess what happened? The fan in my car stopped working again - not  a good time, as it is just pouring down, with temps around 40F. Will get it (hopefully) fixed tomorrow.

I received the order confirmation from Japan and wanted to make the payment through my PayPal account, but I need to deposit money there first. Did this in the morning, but it takes three days to show up on my account. My payment will be delayed.

Ray - beautiful house in a winter wonderland!

Afternoon all,

Zoe just a cup of hot cocoa for me to take the chill off.

Currently 16°F outside with a few random flakes of white stuff floating down.  I just came back in from running the snow blower to dig out the driveway.

Barry and Ulrich, thanks for your comments.  The photos were taken with just the street lighting and house lighting.  It was a very dark night out, and I don't think the moon was up yet.  All 3 photos were taken with a 14 sec exposure at ISO 100.  I did a bit of adjusting w/ Photoshop.  I did a major color balance with the first photo (house across the street from me to get the snow to be very white.  The second, I left the color alone to show the yellow of the streetlights on the snow.  The third photo did not have any street light illumination.  i tried a lot of different settings and fianlly decided i liked the one you see.  Twas fun!

Gotta get ready to go pick up Art and Poetry.....

Later!

Flo, Cheeseburger, tender of Onion Rings and a Beer please.

Got my running around done and did find a cheap used offices chair for $20.00. While it was not what I was hopping for but, darn site better than the ones at the store. Next I will be looking for a cheap card table, I will sit it up in the backroom and start taking some of the engines to work and start getting them back up and going.

Goooooooooooooooooooooooooood Afternoon, bucket of boot coffee to-go please and thank-you...gotta head out for a high school wrestling meet here shortly.

CUDA KEN: Man, just be careful with the internet and trains at work. I've had jobs where most of my "duty" was to just "be here." But they still didn't want me surfing the internet. With a little bit of looking, there was almost always some "company business" I could tend to. It just looked better, and kept the people authorizing the paychecks happier. I just picture hard times when (not if) "the boss" comes in and finds you doing locomotive repair, on the clock.

Gotta get ready to go earn my money for the day... have a safe-one everybody!

Good Evening All,

Didn't make it in this morning as we were still digging the nether regions of the shop out. Seems like the one day I don't make it in everybody calls and leaves messages so THAT was the morning shot.

Ken, not to pile on but i agree with Chris on the go easy on the gov't w..k. Especially at first. sweep the sidewalk, dust the furniture, rearrange the brochures (do stores in the computer age still have brochures?) polish the doorknob (you can chime in with the chorus from the HMS Pinafore any time now Ray). I actually lost a job once for not doing busy w..k.

Time to head out with perhaps a stop at HD to get some more electrical boxes and "stuff". Catch y'all later.  J.R.

I found out a long time ago that doing work on trains while at work doesn't mix well. I did have one job though where the boss didn't mind. He was also a model railroader and we would work on them together when business was slow.

Got some more homework, and just two classes tomorrow.    My graphics class has a very weird thing for homework..........Take a 3x5 note card and place your whole body through it.   Ok  Dunce.  Talk about confusing.  He like to do brain teasers.   I think this is one.

Other than that, I'm ready for the weekend!!!

Well dang it, I was going to put a coat of shellac on the newly sanded parts of the layout and found that my shellac had hardened in the can. I was thinking that I would have to pick up a new one tomorrow on my way back from DeRidder. Then I was saved by my questionable memory. I remembered I had another can of shellac in the back of the van. I brought it in, shook it up to insure it was mixed and not just layers of chemicals and prepared to open it. It was then I noticed the bottom of the can was bulged outward. There was pressure in that there can! Question was how much. I carefully pried up the top while keeping my other hand on top of the can.

BOOM!!

The only thing that kept the top from blowing off of the can was that I was holding it down. There wasn't any spray but I felt like a .357 magnum had been fired right above my head. Man! My ears are still ringing! No blood in the ears though so that's a good sign. The shellac turned out to be good so I painted part of the newly sanded areas with it. I'll have to move some clutter around before I can do the other newly sanded areas. One of these days I'll have to decide whether to keep this clutter or give it away. Throw it away if nothing else. It's just getting in the way.

Todd, todd, todd, todd todd- It is, AGAIN, like your daughter's "problem" way way way TMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AS long as you are clean when you get into the diner I don't care how you got that way...even if you have little gnomes who wash you from head to toe and in between the toes....we DON'T need to know TOO much.

Take a cue from from me. I said "I went to the urologist, enough said, especially for those who have been there,,,suffice it to say everything fine" a few days back. CONCISE, to the point, no "dirty details", left alone. Please please take heed. you are getting rather prolific with teh TMI stuff....Whistling

Ken, I echo what others have said. DON'T take your hobby to work {unless you OWN the mattress store}. It could be a quick ticket back to unemployment! ANd be careful using "personal sites" such as this one on company computers or company time on your own laptop. That could also be a quick ticket back to unemployment. You are too new an employee and have yet to "prove yourself" to get away with such shenanigans, should they even are able to be gotten away with. ALL employers now like to monitor what their employees are doing when not producing revenue, customers in the store or not. The hours may be long, tedious and boring, but please DON'T take your trains to work! You want teh job don't you?

Well went and helped a friend do some things today. got to sit part of it, which is good for my back.

Speaking of my back, my surgery is next Monday the 17th so those with prayer chains or lists, please put me on it. should be simple surgery go in take the other tumor out. Famous last words. I have a very capable general surgeon. This will be his 4th surgery on me,s o I have confidence in his ability. I should come through with flying colors! Whether it will help ease pain in my back or not, I don't know. I don't expect much as when teh first tuor was taken out, it didn;t make any difference.

Well, I think early to bed tonigh to rest my back and get some rest, didn't sleep well at all last night.

Well tomorrow morning I have to go to DeRidder to see my urologist then I have to go by the New Llano post office to send off a package then I have to go to the bank to make a deposit. The last of the payments from my HO stuff sale came in today. It's not much but every little bit helps.

Good Morning,

Only got 2 switch machines installed last night, need to install 2 more and then the crossing flashers and block detectors.  Tonight I stop at the LHS and pick up my rusty rails kit I ordered and the handrails for my buddies SD9.

Galaxy, good luck Monday,  I’m sure you’ll do fine, but good luck anyway…

No moss is growing under Jeff’s feet I see.

In the morning I head out to Detroit.  On the way to my kids I plan on stopping by Great Lakes Hobby to pick up some ground cover and see what they have laying around that I absolutely need.

Brakie, that’s some good news about that little 0-6-0 maybe you should name it lucky…

Good Morning/Afternoon,

a dull and rainy day in northern Germany - the weather is back to what we are used at this time of the year.

Zoe, just a coffee for me today, please. We have an invitation out for dinner tonight.

Galaxy - my thoughts and Angel will be with you on Monday! I am sure everything will turn out just fine!

I started out to make plans how to build the cabinet supporting my layout. I did the first drawing by hand and now I am looking for a simple freebie CAD tool to do the job. Has anyone tried Google Sketch?

I still cannot make the payment via PayPal, as the amount I have deposited has not yet been credited to my account Sad

Have a good day!

Good "snowy" morning.  More snow, and more snow.  Not much but enough to get things covered.

I'm off to school early this morning.  Gotta do some homework.  I feel I get more done at the library than at home.  To many distractions at home.   Also its a short day for me.  Just two classes!!!!!

Not much planned either tonight.  Do some grocery shopping, and call it a day.

 Galaxy..............Good luck next Monday.  Angel

I will pop back in later.

Good Morning! Coffee please. Thank you.

Don’t know what all today brings. Then again do any of us. First thing is an appointment with the Attorney at 9:30. Gotta sign some papers I guess. Then I …..don’t know what will surface for the rest of the day until w**k at 5.

My sister did finally come over yesterday. Big sob show. She appeared to really be upset. Actually she seemed more upset about not being here and not knowing than her actual death. I can see that. I was nice and understanding. I do however wish they had said when they called the day of the visitation they were in Las Vegas then, instead of waiting until now. It may have saved a lot of raised eyebrows and rolled eyes at the funeral home. And not to mention some hard feelings at the ole homefront. I’m not real sure they couldn’t get a flight back by the next day, but admittedly if they couldn’t get into Springfield by 8pm, they couldn’t land there. Don’t know about Decatur, but they could have rented a one way car at St Louis. I’m not gonna suppose anything. Maybe they couldn’t get a flight out in time. I do feel at least a little bit better knowing they were on vacation out of State. Buuut (again with the buts) there are a few things about their “actions” I have issues with. But that’s me. I have too many things to worry about without worrying about that.

It’s cold and I want to play with my trainset. It’s a perfect day for it, but alas it doesn’t appear to be in the cards just yet. Maybe Sunday. That would be nice.

For now, I have to understand why an insurance company needs a death certificate to cancel a policy (a cancer policy so no use). The yearly dues are due by Feb1. I called to cancel they said they need a death certificate to cancel I said what happens if I just don't send in the premium. She said they'd cancel the policy. I said then why do you need a Death certificate. I'll just let the policy lapse. She said they need one for their records.I said why? What's the difference? She said this way they won't keep sending reminders. I said, " You want me to pay $5 a copy so you won't have to send out a couple reminders to renew a policy that can't be renewed? I tell you what, you do what you want. I've informed you she has passed as a courtesy. I'm not going to renew. Send all the reminders you want. Have a nice day."

Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

 Mourning Folks.

Flo, Blue Berry Pancakes, Bacon and Milk Please.

What I can do in my spare time at work. Far as using the internet at work, one of the things Chad (he is training me) told me we could surf the web and watch U Tube. I think it was Tuesday I called Jeff, another store manager and asked if we could bring in small DVD players so I could watch movies? He told me he was watching TV when I called and just about anything goes as long it is not Adult Videos. So as far as the internet goes, I am fine I believe. I will double check Saturday to make sure I am right.

Working on train stuff. If I do it, it will not be where customers can see it. We have a backroom where we store mattress for customers take's. I can see the show room so if a customer comes in all I have to do is get up and shut the door.

What I will do, is after I have a good day (not going to ask after bombing 2 days in a row) if I can work on models in the back room on a card table when we are slow. That simple, if yes great, if No not a big deal.

Far as keeping the store clean, that is a given. I run a neat store, and Mattress Stores are pretty easy to keep clean anyway.

See you all later for lunch.

Good Morning All!

Not much to report from the land of snow Buckeyes other then I ordered the needed parts for the 0-6-0 T and I need to pick up some ABS plastic at the hobby shop next week. All of the bench work is cut and stack and the only thing left is to buy 1/2 pound of drywall screws( mostly likely today) and wait on my helper to get over the flu..No modeling yesterday and I still have 2 boxcars that's gone missing.I know thet have to be some where in the house because neither car has seen club service since '95.

I shall have a cup and look over da forum.

Have a good'un!

The missing 40' boxcars are my favorite boxcars..

Zoe ... I'll have a rueben sandwich with a coke, please.

Galaxy ... Of course, prayers continue for surgery and this will lead to and end to the severe back pains.

Brakie ... I like the 40's box cars.

Todd ... Well if it isn't one thing its another. Some family memebrs are just not predictable to say the least.

I posted a photo of my large bakery in WPF with the recent scenery project. Not shown, is my current scrap yard project whch is behind the camera in the photo. I'm still working on the scrap yard which is mostly making an ugly scene.

Good Afternoon Gents

Just back from the LHS with some decoders, so you know what I'm planning to do this weekend! Time for some noiseBow

Lee: So you went and retired! good for you and I hope you're enjoying your retirement. So does this mean more time for the MR? I'm driving a desk these days so by the time I get home in the evening I'm zonked. Nothing worse then holding up a desk, Yes there is ... Sleeping under it Zzz

Der John: Thank you for posting a pic of the "Matthew" as the picture makes her look good! Unfortunately last year saw her doing a lot of Offshore Work, which means she never got her makeup applied before she was put into layup. A very busy year.

I see by the mass posts everyone is as busy as ever.

Later All
