I just had a very, very, very long post typed up (took me over a half hour), and when I hit backspace to fix a mistake, the page went back, and EVERYTHING was gone. Grumpy

Next time type it up in Notepad or Wordpad then copy and paste it.

Happy birthday Robby.

Evenin' folks!

Flo just a decaf please....  Couldn't eat another bite.  Huge feast today at my son's house.  All kinds of tasty wonderful food and lots of good cheer and conversation.  It brought back images of Thanksgiving when I was a little boy at Grandma's house.  If any of you remember the old picture in the music book on the page with the song, "Over the River and Through the Woods, to Grandmother's house we go......"  My Grandma Cooley posed for THAT picture.....  Standing in the doorway with arms outstreched to give each of us a huge hug!  THAT's the kinda day today was!

Robby, a very Happy B-Day to you!  31?  Your just a kid.  My youngest son has 10 years on you.  Tomorrow I reach twice your age, and 2 more for good measure.  Yep, I was a Thanksgiving kid myself!

Jerry, congratulations on the grandkid arriving.  Good to hear all is well!

Time for a nap, I'll be in the back booth with Duke...  We'll snore a duet for everyone!

Larry:  Got you on the new glasses bit--I done had some issues with that myself when my distance seeing went on me when I was in high school. Now I wear bifocals---yuckDeadConfused The club sounds like fun--we have a sort of one that exists in a friends house--an informal modular thing in HO scale--love it!Thumbs Up

Good Afternoon...

It appears to be doing drizzling here---just a sort of misty foggy look to it out there--supposed to get all snowy by tonight though as tmperatures fall to 25F---

We already had our dinner and are no getting ready to do some recording in our studio----

Have a good Thanksgiving afternoon/evening peoples!Smile, Wink & Grin

Happy Thanksgiving guys

Well it's been an intresting day so far. Work was hectic, but at least I get time and a half. I put the turkey in the smoker befor I left for work. It should be done by supper time.

I'll be catching up a bit.

Robby, Happy B-Day. Next year my sister's b-day fall on thanksgiving. I haven't gotten her anything yet.

Ken, Did you ever get the package?

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Turkey's got about five minutes, so< barring any typing problems, I'll make this quick.

I agree with PA Tom wholeheartedly. In spite of the problems I have, which in comparison to others are very few, I have so much more to be thankful for. Numerically maybe no, I've never counted. But what really matters, my problems don't hold a candle to my blessings. I think most of us can say the same thing if we think about it.

Larry- I know what you mean on the family chatter. Luckily, that has ended in our dwindling numbers in attendance. Except on the odd occasion they return or show up.

Yet ANOTHER blessing!Smile, Wink & Grin

Good Morning All!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes other then I baked 4 pumpkin pies,2 cherry pies and 2 apple pies yesterday for today's pig out-er,ah,Thanksgiving dinner at my oldest sister's house..I really dislike going because all of the chest thumping over material gains and the usual mindless football chatter but,its family and one feels obliged to go.

I shall have a cup and look over the forum.

Have a good'un!

-------------------------------------

Larry: You just might be needing to get some reading glasses or magnifier somewhat--I use a set of magnifiers and still don't have too much trouble with N scale---BTW what size is your club?

------------------------------------

I have new glasses and I believe the real issue is I 'm not accustom to wearing glasses when I model.

The club is modular and once we get it set back up in our new quarters it will be 3' wide by 200' in a S shape point to point layout with two  4' x  10'  yard modulars..These will be fully operational and not just staging.

Good morning. It's 74 and cloudy. The high will be 78 and there's a 50% chance of rain this afternoon. The low tonight will drop to 37.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I don't see any layout work getting done today. In fact I fully anticipate having to be rolled home later today. I'll be having Thanksgiving dinner at my sisters place as usual. She has the table for a neighborhood feast and she cooks enough for a small army. Finally got the track soldering all done and filed down any bumps in the solder. Now the soldered areas need to be painted so they match the rails. The wiring of the structures that will be lit is going to be fun.

Just stopping by to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. There may have been some bumps in the road here and there, but overall, I've had a great life. I got through a combat tour in Viet Nam and 23 years as a professional firefighter in one piece, been married to the same woman for a very long time, and I've always been surrounded by a great family. We will have dinner today with my nephew and his family, and will over indulge as his wife is a great cook.

Which reminds me. We should all be thankful for the many folks out there who will be working and serving us in some capacity and not be able to be with their families. My nephew and his wife are both physicians and both are  on call today. They will each take calls all day, but with a little luck, they won't have to leave and make a run to a hospital. I always had to work on Thanksgiving, as my work days were Thursday through Sunday.  But unless I was working a 24 hour shift, I was able to join in for dinner. So I always am thankful for the police, fire, EMS and medical professions who miss so much on the holidays.

When you live in a great country like ours, how can you not be thankful.

Best wishes to all.

Good morning all!

Happy Thanks Giving!

Let us all pause to remember the things we are really thankfull for. Please see my TG post on the forum!

Happy Birthday Robby P! Happy B-Day Cake Gift  I'd give you a Left Hug {left hug} and a Right Hug {right hug} but this is a clean forum! LOL. 'Course we could all line up to give you *spankings*! But this isn't THAT type of forum either! LOL

Robby P.

 Good morning.

Today is turkey day, and its also my birthday.    I turn 31 and I feel it Whistling

How many *spankings* did you say you needed?? 31??  And one to grow on?  My, my, my so young yet....*sigh*

Happy B-Day

Well got us a 13.45 lb. turkey to do today. I figure I will put it in the oven about an hour or so after the other half leaves for work-has to work 11am-3pm today...all hands on deck at work today! has tomorrrow off. That way the turkey should be ready when the other half comes trudging through the door wak and weary from impatient customers buying last minute food items for the dinner.

Been going through the sale ads for tomorrow. This might actually be the first year I don't go shopping in a long while to get some "doorbuster deals" as I didn't really see anything that was a "must go get".

We already are done with Xmas shopping except the MIL and FIL. MIL is good for a book, but teh way her health has been, dunno if she can/could read it. THANKS for all the prayers for my MIL! COntinued prayers would be greatly appreciated too!

Well, I should get going.

I don't expect much of a busy day on the forum today, most peeps will be having the 4 "F"s:

Family

Food

Fun

Football

,,,and some will have beer Beer and wine Drinks to go with the 4 "f"s!

Happy Turkey Day!

Good Morning! Just coffee please. Gonna get started early this year. But Brenda's car's dead and I am charging the battery as we speak so's I can pul it out of the garage so I can make it fry central. But mainly just stopped in to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

Menu is (as far as I know) Turkey, Ham, both regular and Oyster corn bread stuffing (homemade G. My MIL brings it), fried cauliflower,  the ever present green bean casserole, corn casserole, sweet potatoes, DEVILED EGGS!, pumpkin and pecan pie. Of course there is the last minute, why don’t I make this thing or two.

Larry- My opinion, but it depends. Let’s face it. If it’s magnification that is needed to work on stuff, well I’m only 48 and I need magnification for HO. So, if you are far along with N scale, I would just spend the money on magnification stuff. The lighted kind of course. If in the planning stages, well, I might draw up a quick plan to see if what you really want in a railroad will fit in the space. If you have a ton of N scale stuff in waiting for the railroad, I’d mix the two. Unless the issue is you can’t see the railroad equipment at all. (a common problem among HO'ers regarding N scale stuff) Then, well, I’d switch.

Jerry -Congrats on the new grandbaby!

Lee- Got about an inch of rain here last night.

Speaking of Inch- Howdy! Glad to hear all is well.

Today Robby’s B-day? Well, Happy B-Day

Story about both types dressing: Years ago, my MIL found out I like cornbread dressing. She began making more than normal when she made plenty to begin with. Why? Because I like itTongue Tied. Then a couple years later, after Brenda and I were married she found out I like Oysters in my dressing. Then she made one of those about the size of the regular one she madeIndifferent. Though I appreciate the oyster one, it didn’t have to be that big as I’m the only one who likes it. Except my Mother. Anyway, along with all these things my MIL insists on bringing, is a half hours worth of “Whew. I’m worn out. I’m not making this much food anymore. What time did you start? 6? I’ve been cooking since 4.”Confused To which I respond, “We told you you don’t have to bring so much. You insist.” To which she looks at me, (when she smoked, drew a drag off the smoke stick) then say, “ people want me to make the stuff. But I’m not gonna do it anymore.”Grumpy ….til next year. This year will be a repeat of the last 5. “I didn’t make but just a small pan of oyster dressing. I tired of making so much and no one eating it except Todd. So I said I’m just going to make a small pan and if they don’t like it….tuff.”Bang Head As I said before, no one except ,me likes oysters and the only reason she made it in the first place was because I said, no, BerrrrrENDA said I liked oysters. Ah fun.

Best get a deep frying.

Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

4” of rain predicted for us today with freezing rain later in the day turning into snow for Friday and Saturday.  It looks like London, ON and Lackawanna, NY skipped the rain and went right to snow this morning.

Hey Guys-

Flo, I'll have a hot chocolate, and I'll order a plate of sticky buns with extra icing for the guys.

WOW! What a cold week here. I spent most of the week watching the snow fall, and idiots in rear-wheel drive trucks and SUVs trying to squeal their way up the frozen freeway! They're saying more snow/ice for tomorrow. Might make the commute up to Everette a tad hairy to say the least. Might find ourselves on Amtrak. In the mean time I scored an SD40-2 (undec) for FREE from a coworker. It got it's first coat of white, which I must say went on perfect. Straight Krylon rattle can work. Just thin, steady coats. Worked excellent. I also stripped an Atlas U23-B with 99% iso and that worked like a charm. It's got it's first few coats of white too. Now time for the Reading Green. Take care all....happy thanksgiving.

If Ben Franklin had gotten his way and the national bird was the turkey; would we eat bald eagle on Thanksgiving?

Howdy ..

Jerry ... Congrats for the great news. When will new grandson get his first train?

Ulrich .. non-walking turkeys in Germany? ... Does that mean you do not have turkey and sour ***?

Ken .. My bridge over my "Mrs. Hippy River" is 48", and so your guess was close. Thinking about you layout plans... You have done lots of planning along with others willing to help. Not sure you want to start over, but my approach to layout construction has been good as far as I am concerned. My layout is around the wall style. I build only one section at a time complete with scenery and structures. Gradually, I'm working my way around the walls. There are no duck unders. So, the plan is rather simple.

Duke .. glad you can post photos now. The diner does look better with a berkshire present as much as I hate to admit. .. The women in the photo look bored. What's the story with them? Are they bore of the engine or bored of men with them?

Der  ... Lemon pie looks really tasty!

Jeff ... The ex UP Geep looks like a real workhorse.

Some family are now here from MI and OH. The TN familiy clan will be here tomorrow. Then we chow down!

Where the MIA's .. For example, who has heard from Keith?

Happy Thanksgiving.

Edit .. Kyle was trying to sneek in the side door while I was posting. Close the door, Kyle. It's getting drafty here. Must be really cold there.

Good Wednesday evening Diners: Do we have to fend for ourselves tomorrow? - Are the staff going to be around to cook and serve?

Jeff:

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.
...Looks elegant. If it works for me, you get virtually a whole lemon meringue pie courtesy DER! It's good to see Duke has met with success with his photos too!Yeah

 Larry:

.As I near 63(Feb 2011) and seen my nearsightedness fade over the last 7 months should I bail out of N and go with a small HO layout? Am I panicking? Overly concerned about nothing?
...I'm having to use reading glasses for the close up work, and I have an old pair of my distance glasses for appreciating the rest of the layout Blindfold  I'm not planning on leaving off in N - I like the extra running room too much!

Ken:

Sue is disabled, but SSI will pay any benefits to her because I am on unemployment? So she called them told them I was out of benefits, they are sending Sue a check for Nov for $634.00. Well that better than a stick in your eye.
...that's a bit of good news indeed. I'm not sure about this, but I think that our system, coupled with "individual rights" and so on, has it that each person's "benefits" belong to that person. The only effect one has on the other concerns a rebate of the Federal Sales Tax (GST) which is stopped if the total income of the couple-in-question crosses an upper limit.  So, if I've got it right, you would continue to get your EI (Employment Insurance in Canada - used to be Unemployment insurance until "they" thought that THAT was politically incorrect) until it ran out, and Sue would get her "disability pension" regardless.....that's how I think it works here. Maybe Barry, CN Charlie or Johnboy can put me straight if I've got that wrong.  I do know that Social Services payments can change depending on other income in the household - but that's different from EI, and also Disability....I think....Confused

Joe:
