CGW is one of the most sophisticated schemes. Very tough to mask for. LOL

Just kidding - it's only one color (red or maroon) plus the emblems. Nonetheless, its quite elegant in its simplicity.

Seriously now, while I don't model the road, the CNJ's blue and orange scheme is very handsome. Really there are many striking scheme's - too many to mention. That's probably because the F units can make just about any scheme look good.

The passenger version of CN's classic Green & Gold (With the black lower panels). It looks even better on E units.

After that, I'd have to say ATSF Cat Whiskers.

The best paint scheme on the F units would, to me, be any and all-- except Ontario Northland"s blue/yellow and maybe CN's and offspring green/yellow.

The body style of the F's are what really made them attractive. Asking what was favorite paint scheme on them is like asking preference of jeans/dress/swimsuit (not all three at one time hopefully) on your wife or girlfriend or favorite model or actress.

My favorite paint scheme is the Northern Pacific Passenger "pinetree" from 1946. Great choice of colors and accents. Also, the Milwaukee Grey & Orange, and I have to admit Soo Line Red & White looked good on the cowls. Of course, BN Green is a favorite as well.

Not Warbonnet. Too cliche.

I like the great Northern F units. I was so stoked when I saw that the BNSF had a paint job similiar. They rock!!

That would be my second favorite... But I have a lot so I'll post my top 5:

1. CB&Q "Greyback" scheme
2. RI Rocket scheme
3. CNW Yellow/Green
4. GM&O 2-tone red/maroon
5. Western Pacific California Zephyr F's

I gonna say the Southern Pacific Black Widow paint scheme like on the 3s and 7s. Santa Fe's red warbonnet is second.

What do YOU think was the coolest scheme on any F unit?
