"Hot Chocolate please.. Hey.. I'm sitting at the counter.. I've got pics."

Galaxy, Jeff,  hey you guys~.. lol.. Actually I was thinking of Armour Baking Soda/power.. corn starch?  One of those absorbs oder.  For what is it worth.. not too expensice also.

JR.. I have some of those old magazines.  I think I did see that once .. or twice.. and even in the forums here.  I've got a game plan.. in a few minutes.. maybe a sneak preview.

Garry.. you were an Art Teacher?  I think we've got a few artists here.. maybe Jim too.. and of course.. Ray~ ...I've seen his work,  lol.. I call him my ol' art teacher.  Perhaps I shall throw in a few pic/drawings of art I've collected.  A few years back.. oh..10 yrs ago or so.. a friend of mine.. and myself, would try to find the nicest Picasso.. for the cheapest price.. that could possibly be real.  Now those of you that think Picasso is expensive.. well most are not.  And more that likely a fake.  But on the flip side.. Picasso did over 20 thousand pieces of work... so who knows.  But a couple .. could be real and more than likely.  I actually did some research.. and I have my reasons to believe what is and what isn't a Picasso.  Just one man's opinion... but I've always loved art.  I would love to share a pic or two.. its fun.  Not all at once.. good gosh.. this is a train forum. lol

Ok.. my first attempts at making a bridge... this is where I am.

100_1667.jpg

What you see.. is added molding to give it more depth.  Vertical supports and toppers comes next. 100_1668.jpg

And the bottom of the bridge... yeah yeah... I know.. My Work space.. whata mess.  I know~ but if I didn't take a pic in the middle of construction..you would see the mess or the blow by blow shots.

I'm an artist creating~

Ok.. we're locking up the house.  Last nights low was 57 with a high of a whopping 62 degrees .. cloudy .. windy and cold.  Anyone wanting to trade places with me.. has to also take on my lousy knee.. very painful in cold damp weather... and let not forget my back too!

 Good morning.

I'm glad y'all found my pictures good.  I was on the wrong side of the tracks (sun).   We had about six trains come by in a couple of hours.   Pretty good hunting!!

Not much planned for me today.  Maybe work on the boxcar some more, and take it easy today.

Hey guys, not much from me. Did pick up my school books Thurs. I got Algebra 2, (ohh boy. I hate it already never been really good at math, satisfactory with the real world stuff, but not Algebra.) English 3, (Mandatory), American History (my sort of class.), Spanish (thank you mom, don't get me started guys.) and autos.

I here you on algebra. Geometry was easy enough; proofs were a breeze, they're kinda like how my brain thinks in a way. all the formulas at the end were killer though. I saw your later post abt sin, cos, tan. just remember SOHCAHTOA and know what information to punch in a calculator and you'll be fine. SOHCAHTOA means Sin=opposite/hypotenuse; Cos=adjacent/hypotenuse; Tan=opposite/adjacent.

English3 and spanish3 are gonna be my toughest classes, as I've stated. I think our chemistry honors teacher can teach, so that'll be good.

Garry (saw your post at the top of page 16), they sort of do split the funds once you get to high school because there's the different tracks. Right now I'm in the honors/AP track, so the kids who don't care have mostly been weeded out, and a lot of the troublemakers aren't in my classes. that isn't to say they won't be present in my CP classes.

Well, today is gonna be church and then Watkins Glen. I think I'm gonna take a break from readin; I only have 102 pages left. I may read abt 50 pages today though, not quite sure.

Good Morning. Gonna be another hot one today. Making up for the last few cool days.

Gonna try and make this a short conversation seeing as how the last few were quite long.Whistling

Garry- Grandson is great thank you, and the South Of the Border, is still waiting in the pokey for the trial date which they keep putting off.

Ken- I hope it's not too late as I don't get a chance to pop in very often anymore. Well, I suppose it isn't too late. I don't use primer because I use glue, so I am not familiar with the surface texture situation. As far as the smell of the glue, most would say there is very little smell. Yes there is but probably only Galaxy would say, "what's that smell in here" Many would say it doesn't smell at all. Really, it's not bad at all because you won't do the whole floor at once. You just do smaller sections or you'll glue yourself to the floor. Brand? I don't know. I just grab the brand they sell at whatever store I'm at. "Floor Tile Adhesive" is what I look for or ask for. Use a very small toothed spreader for the self stick tiles. You don't need much just enough to help stick, and stick it will. I can't remember the actual tooth size, but the back of the container will tell you what to buy for use on self stick tiles, or any other for that matter. OR, as I have found, just ask which spreader they are out of stock on and THAT, more than likely, will be the one you need.

Teachers. I had great teachers. The only reason I didn't score well on a test was my own fault.

fec153
Just peeking in and I saw- Measure twice-cut once. Yep, thats right BUT add the width of the blade you are cutting with, else you'll be short.

Oh don'tcha know THAT's got me more than once! Banged Head

G- I have heard the same thing from several people over the years about the bowl of vinegar Jeff spoke of. Can't vouch for it myself, but many swear by it.

Well, I said I would keep it short and I failed. However I cannot leave without saying the pictures of the projects either completed or in the works, are fantastic. I long for the day I get a chance to do some MRR stuff myself.

Today, more stuff to do at Mom's house and a visit with her.

Have a Great Day!!!

Good morning!

To all those who suggested baking soda...that is what teh exterminator suggested and we spread it around the carpet. Problem is when accessing the computer, which sitson a shelf1.5 inches off the floor we were stiring baking soda dust right into it. WE also have a giant open box of baking soda open.

I had my other half vaccuum up the baking soad last night so we don't further damage teh computer and said it smelled better after the vacccuuming and I should go smell. I waited til this am...it does smell some better but not good enough for me to sit wtihout mask for long. With my severe asthma problem, it is hard for me to breathe through a mask.

I am going to my fathers today to get out of the house for awhile as I have been home most of  everyday this past week and by dinner tiem my stomach has turned and is off of food by dinner tiem,,by the smell,,just when the other half is looking for something tasty to eat.

We will have to try the vinegar and see what happens.

g'day y'all

A large coffee to and a corn muffin no butter (it's for the dog out in the truck he's watching his weight) Well dragged the rototiller home yesterday from my uncle's farm last night. I don't know if all farmers are bad on equipment but these guys don't take care of anything. Was covered in bird poop form all the barn swallows living in the barn with a door that hasn't been able to close completely in about 10 years, rolled it out of the back of the truck and it must have taken a half hour to get it running and when I did half of the stuff was falling off of it so this morning will be spent power washing and putting this thing back together.

Was up at around 6:00am watching the Gold Finch's at the bird feeders in the front yard I counted 16 at one feeder a new record for us. Oh and how can I forget about Mr.Rat last night. Wife let the dogs out around 7:00pm and i hear her yelling at the dogs, well seems  the little Golden Retriever mix killed a rat. Don't know where in the heck it came from but best I can figure it may have been living under my deck so now got to get the have-a-heart traps out as I don't want them suckers dieing any where I can't get to them and have them stinking up everything. It bugs the heck out of me as this is the second one I've found and I make an effort to keep a clean yard, no garbage no open dog food or animal food etc. and I know them little suckers will only go 100' from food and water so I have a feeling they may be coming from my neighbor who lets just say makes it more inviting for them.

On the model railroad front, attempting to make some bottle brush conifers lol well lets just say I need lots of practice I'm also trying to find some useful material for tunnel liners and also looking into latex molding materials to possibly make my own stone retaining walls, gonna have quite a few of them so if I can get it down pat I'll save myself a few dollars.

Ok you all have a good Sunday

Just my 2 cents worth, I spent the rest on trains. If you choked a Smurf what color would he turn?

About the measure twice, cut once discussion. I have been told don't worry about the width of the saw blade as different saws have different widths, just leave the line. It's worked for me.

Mornin' everyone!

Mornin' Bill....!

Zoe I'll have a short stack of Buttermilk/blueberry pancakes with lots of Maple Syrup.  Don't care where it came from, but the local is best. Oh and a big cup of dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR Mug.

In Moosonee this morning it is currently 15°C outside on it's way up to 21°C by this afternoon with a possibility of rain.   Here in the Finger lakes it is 77°F with a high this afternoon of 85°F under sunny skies.

So Barry, is THAT 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 or 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 or 1 2 3 4 5 6 7  Does it always stay the same or alternate???  Either way I would most likely conduct it in a 3 pattern....... LOL WhistlingBig Smile  Love Eastern European Music in 7 BTW.  I also love music in 5!  Darn!  Now I've got "Take Five" running through my mind.  THAT ought to drive me nuts all day.......

Probably won't get much done on the MR today as I will spend most of the day out at my son's house.

Later!

I don't have any recovery plans as of yet.

Hi Jeff,  Is this the VAN that you are talking about or your old car?????

All the rest of you fine folks, I hope you are having a fantabulous week-end.

Young-uns getting ready for school and the older ones chasing mice. You just have to love that, Right??

Had a heck of a time locating the Diner this round. Who would have thought that Ray would have moved it to Mossenee.  He just has to much access to those locos at that Museum.  By the way Ray, nice start on that QUARRY.  I like all the work that has been shown here lately. And of course as always Grampy's and Crandell's photography just blows me away.  "SUPER" Thumbs UpThumbs Up

Back at work today. Four week-ends out of five.  This is the bad part about holiday season, filling in for everyone to get their vacation.  Oh well they are pretty good to me for covering when we go to Spokane several times a year.

Not much news MR wise, other than I picked up three new Bachmann locos and one Athern (Irv would be happy) 2-GP30s, SD45, and a GP40-2. These are all new in box and in total with postage $120.00. That really works for my retirement income. Also got a set of those pre-wired T-poles. Probably won't get them in place for awhile, but the price was right on them as well.  At some point I hope to paint the GP30s into LM&E colors

Really sad to hear of all the problems so many of you are facing. makes my on-going stomach problems seem pretty small. Overall, I'm very healthy with just the older age things starting to hit. Eyes, hearing. joints etc.

Sounds like a lot of you have had some really great reunions and Bar-B-Ques happening. You'll all have to step-up that exercise program a bit and shake a few of those pounds off.

Well I had better get back to work here before the crowds hit.  It is Victorian Tea Week-end here at the museum today. We have these each month and they are very popular.

Have a great week all and keep smiling, it looks good on ya.  Smile,Wink, & Grin

Johnboy out.............................for now.

Hi Jeff,  Is this the VAN that you are talking about or your old car?????

Talking about the car. It's broken down three times in the last two weeks. One of those breakdowns was due to part of the wire harness going up in smoke. It didn't effect anything critical though and was easily dealt with. The van isn't mobile yet. Indeed, it's not even registered yet. No plate, no inspection sticker, no insurance, etc. I see no point in spending money on that until I can actually drive it safely.

Went to check on the car this morning. Looks like nobody has bothered it. I have some people around there keeping an eye on it and the cops are watching it. They seem to like having it there. Almost nobody has broken the speed limit on that section of road for nearly 20 hours now. I also picked up a can of Valspar clear frosting for glass and plastic. I'll try it out on a scrap model and see how what it does.

Here's a current shot of the boxcar I've been working on.  It will look better once its put back together, and get some better shots!!

Well, the car is now parked in my parent's south driveway where it's out of the way. They use the east driveway. I was thinking about getting a crew together to go load it onto a trailer but I didn't want to be out in 95+ degree heat any more than they would. So I called a local towing company and had them pick it up and bring it out here. $35. That's certainly a lot cheaper than what a new fuel pump will cost. If I can get the parts I need for the van the car won't get a new pump, just a ride to the scrap yard. I'm tired of constantly spending money on it.

Robby.. I make a copy of everything you do.. its so neat.  I like to wake up in the morning and see pics.

Now on a different note.  Today is show and tell (for me, I hate a quiet dinner).. and to tie it in with Model Railroading.

Art,  I have always loved art from a very young age.  Through the years, when ever possible I would take a class on art and one of them was Bonsai.  Not not Bonzai,  but Bonsai.  Bonsai classes were not cheap, but informative and a new circle of friends.  One friend had his own Bonsai Nursery.  As the years went by,  he invited me to his home where I saw his most precious creations.  One of the was so unique,  a stand of trees.  A minature forest.  You just couldn't believe it.

What he did,  was to sit me down in front of it.  I sat there for a good 5 minutes studying it.  He asked me if I knew what made it so unique.  I said no.  He told me of a time when he sat in a forest and noticed a stand of trees and tried to figure out why everything looked so perfect.  He studied it for quite some time.. longer than the 5 minutes

His answer was quite unique, in which I will get to later.  Look at these pics.. and try to find something they all have in common.  (For anyone concerned I looked in a search engine for  only free photos/pics)

forest8.jpg

forest7.jpg

forest3.jpg

forest15.jpg

forest13.jpg

forest10.jpg

forest11.jpg

forest12.jpg

Ok.. what do these all have in common.  What makes these shots so nice?

This friend told me after sitting there for quite some time... he noticed all the tree were separated.  Thus, No conflicting lines of trees over-lapping.  When you look at a particular setting/ pic/ photo/ train layout.. keep in mind the tree placement.

Create that perfect shot.. create that setting.  Of course I could go into detail about placing trees in a triangle, but that might be too much.  But interesting enough,  most settings will always look nice when trees are planted in ODD numbers.  I dunno why.. it just makes that perfect setting.

Concerning train layouts and a forest,  I can't help but think I'll go back and look at these pics.. and create my own setting.

Spanish classes! Man, you have my condolences. I was being subjected to Spanish class at the age of 8. Spanish classes started at an early age in El Paso back in '69. I couldn't tell one end of the language from the other. I was having a hard enough time with english.Laugh

 Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood afternoon 'eh,

Welp, here's what the BIL was a-driving last night in the Clarence Car Cruise:

It's a Kali-something GT, a fiberglass body on a VW Beetle chassis with an 80 hp Corvair motor. He painted it to be a pseudo-replica of a car Steve McQueen drove in the movie "LeMans." Got lots of looks in the embarassingly puny "car cruise:" about a dozen or so vehicles. Half of 'em were just people bored and looking for something to do, I think. 'Twas good to see the BIL...good guy!

ROBBY P: NICE job on the CNW box. Yup, THAT be what the Rock boxes devolve into... Disapprove In other words, you nailed it. Funny, I remember when they were bright, clean, and 100% ROCK...Whistling

Hopefully this afternoon, I will either finally muster up the...something...to put end numbers on a patched CNW grain hopper. Might w**k a little more on a boxcar (need some paint for it), could clear out some space and shoot some paint on a GP-40 THAT has been impatiently sitting in primer for about a year or so...Disapprove "Should" go trim some low-hanging tree branches. "Could" go change oil/clean the air filter in the mowers. "Oughta" just take a nap with Rerun.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Have a good 'un,

Thought y'all might enjoy me reposting this shot from my WPF entry. I recast the spur as a mainline and caught this picture of the FM C-Liner seperating a GE U23B and an EMD GP35.

Hey guys.

Been messing with some more kits I have. Got them all assembled except for 1. That one bieng an MDC FMC covered hopper in WP paint. The guy I bought it from threw a Plano walkway in there and I haven't decided if I'm gonna install yet. Been raining like nuts here so no work on the car.

Haven't been in a few so I'll be catching up to you guys.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Cleared another item from the RIP track today. Got a Athearn RTR SD 50 back on the rails. It never stopped running, I just did not like the way it ran. I had ran both DH 123's and 126's and to get it to move at 1% power I had to bump CV 2 up to 35. I forget what I had Kick start at, think it was around the same.

Today I installed a NCE D15SR with Torque Compensation.I played with CV 116 and 117 and did they ever make a differences! With CV 2 sat at 6 and CV 116 and 117 sat at 10 it moves at 1% power and is very smooth. Have it MU to a Dash 9 and they seem to work well with each other. Have two other Athearn RTR I pulled for the same reason. I still two more D15SR, will see how they run with these decoders Monday.

And here lately I have been wanting to buy more engines? I have 1 F9 Stewart that needs a motor, 3 F3 PK 1000 that need motors (they have well over 400 hours before they died) 4 20 Year Old BL2's that need decoders and maybe motors, 1 F3 PK 1000 that needs a decoder, 2 F7 Athearn BB's that I need to install decoders 1 FP45 Athearn BB that needs a decoder, 1 E6 PK 2000 that needs a decoder and a 1 PK 2000 SW8 that needs a decoder.

That 14 engines plus 16 that are pulling freight for 30 and about 5 others that are in parts that I more than likely will never mess with. Yep, last thing I need is more engines!

Hum, kind of got thinking of the top of my head and on to the keyboard about the engines thing. Whistling

Anyway, at this point I really like the D15SR NCE decoder.

Have a good night folks, Cuda Ken

A Sunny Good Afternoon Evening to you, Janie! (Well, it was afternoon when I started this post...) I'll have a RBF and a bowl of chili, with some of those 'oyster crackers', please 'n' thank-you!

Dodging around THAT soapbox, I'll try to stay off of it today... We got up to 94 F this afternoon (heat index of 100 F). Not too bad, so I'm guessing the humidity's down a little, perhaps.

Got the Wabash gondola done (except that the chain from the level to the brakewheel gizmo disappeared while I was trying to get the brake lever glued to the end panel...Sigh), and an Athearn 40' flatcar as well. Well, I tried to do some weathering on the Athearn's 'wood' deck, and THAT still needs some more w**k on it. I was surprised at the underbody detail on the Accurail gondola, compared to the detail on their boxcar underbodies. Puzzling...Confused Also got started stripping the paint off the water tower. THAT's a w**k in progress, as they say. I found I needed a slimmer container for the 91 percent, as the two and a fraction bottles (16 oz. each) of alcohol only come about halfway up the sides. So I rotated the water tower, and after church, took an old toothbrush to the paint. The paint and scenery on the base came off, and one side's paint on the crossbracing pieces came off with some scrubbing. Rotated it again, and went out, looking for a smaller/less deep container at K-Mart and Wally's place; no luck either place. K's had one that I wasn't sure if it was that much different size than what I have now, and WallyWorld had some smaller, but too shallow to submerge the tower under the 91 percent.... Sigh Back to the "let-sit overnight, scrub, rotate, repeat" cycle. It'll just take a little more time than anticipated - something I've NEVER had happen to me on a MRR'ing project, nosireee! And you Diners? Every have THAT happen?

Also picked up three more tubs for MRR storage. Will maybe use one for locos (they're stacked on the shelves in their boxes for now), maybe another one for scenery/ballast stuff, and we'll see what gets put into the third one.

CudaKen, you're ballasting the kitchen floor? Drying the sand - I guess that's prototypical, isn't it? And are you using mainline or siding sized ballast? Whistling Will definitely need to add THAT project to the Angel list, methinks!

Jeff, I don't know if I should ask about the car... But hey! I have an idea for you - get it to Hayti Heights, MO (where they've been without police officers for a few months - small town, smaller budget), and you maybe could turn it in on your insurance if the local penny ante criminals do like they did to the two (unmanned/unused) police cars recently there. They torched them(!). (<-- Link back there) Or (after seeing your post today on the car), maybe you could just rent it out to the police for a little extra cash (until they run short on their ticket quotas for the month?). Oh, heck, you got it moved before you could try either of my ideas! Disapprove

Ray, you have entirely TOO much fun at the grocery store (and likely at a few other places)! Laugh If I tried THAT, it'd be my luck that they'd call the police to take me into custody. Oops I love what you've been doing on the quarry - saved those pics to my drive. Bow How'd you do the wash - it looks like you avoided getting it on the 'floor' of the quarry, 'cause that also looks good. C'mon, what's your secret there? I see Barry covered counting for "Take FIVE" before I got to THAT. Whistling (Thanks, Barry! Evil

Robby, that's a nice shade of... lavender? on that hopper car. Hmmm... might be trickier to weather that one, though. How far apart were the CSX and the 'Santa Fe' trains? (Hey, I'll call 'em like I see 'em) Ah, you answered my question, I see. And definitely, you don't want those feathered friends telling all of their buddies "HEY! Full feeder at Robby's place!"

Keith, the bridge is coming along nicely. Will it be brick or stone, when you get it done? And thanks for the art lesson about the trees from the forest (so to speak). Wink

Galaxy, hope the combination of baking soda, and then the vinegar bowls helps get the rest of that mouse smell knocked down enough for you. That trip away from the house sounds like a good idea.Yeah!!

Allegheny, sounds like your neighbor might need a little reporting to the county health officer (anonymously, that is)...Whistling

Johnboy, good to see you again (briefly, before the Tea Party (Victorian, not THAT other one...) starts. Smile,Wink, & Grin

Chris - thanks for taking over the baton from DerJohn in providing our daily train photo fix. Smile,Wink, & Grin Cool ride for your BIL there.

Vincent, Nah, you don't have too many locos - you just need more freight cars, eh? Of course, to be able to store those, that means you'll need to double the size of your layout, but what the heck! Smile,Wink, & Grin

Speaking of locos, I won a (second) P2K undecorated GP7 that will become another CAW loco eventually. Got it at a decent price - suprisingly, I was the only one bidding on it. I'd thought for sure that somebody else had one bid on it before I sniped. Confused

Well, back home to start some more scrubbing on that water tower, and see about putting some MRR stuff into tubs. Might have pics up by tomorrow of THAT Wabash gon and the Athearn flatcar (if I can fix up the deck some so it looks tolerable).

Prayers for those in need of healing, de-scenting, comfort, parts for repairs, and a good night's rest.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

"Coffee please, quick I need it!"

Jim.. I switched to brick.  The stone really seemed a bit more than I could chew.  Just building a bridge seemed a bit much.  After all, I wanted to see if I could construct one.. for a curve.  This also, was more of a small project.. just see if such a thing was possible.  If I known it was going to be this good.. I might have taken my time.  I just had to see it with my own eyes~

Take a look!  My very first bridge made out of plastic sheets.

100_1684.jpg

If anyone is interested.. I'll give a blow by blow description with pics of how I did it.  I think I've posted a bit much today.   Also considering how much I've gotten done today, well, it went fairly fast.  I just dropped in for some coffee.. and soon I'll be up a ladder cutting a tree.  You now ..the typical sunday accident.. lol.. as a X-ray I saw em all the time.  In fact, I'd used that on my kids.. "Do you really want to spend the afternoon in the emergency ward?"  "Now knock it off"

But Jim.. you see the forest pics?  No one talked about that, not even you~!  lol

"Ok... coffee break is over.. back on your heads"  (lol.. old joke) Levels of Hell, he finds one level..ppl sitting around drinking coffee and smoking cigs.  All kinds of .. you know what is on the floor and on ppls heads,  after seeing all the other levels.. he figures .. hey thats not so back. So he picks that level. Next thing he knows.. a voice says.. "Coffee break is over.. back on your heads."  lol.. I forgot about that joke.

Jeff, thanks for the condolences. In my mom's words, 'It will help you in life and college.' Yeah right. I'll be lucky to remember any of it past senior year. And in college, I pray that they don't make you take a test on it, cause, guess what? Fail. I've actually offered to pay my sister who is also in Spanish one. I'm probably going to sleep through the whole bloody class. Don't get me started on foreign languages because I heard the soapbox start up. Usually, at school, if I am in a foul mood, (Nothing to do with ducks) I mutter German and Slovak under my breath. I am the only one who knows what I am saying. I'm going to sit down before the soapbox revs up again. Sounds like a Deltic.

If you can read this... thank a teacher. If you are reading this in english... thank a veteran

When in doubt. grab a hammer.

If it moves and isn't supposed to, get a hammer

If it doesn't move and is supposed to, get a hammer

If it's broken, get a hammer

If it can't be fixed with a hammer... DUCK TAPE!

Jim, nice snag on the GP7.

Keith, good looking bridge.

TSF, the main thing I have is; you migrate to America, you learn english. If I move to Germany I'll learn German; Africa I'll probably try Swahili first, or the country's national language. China Chinese, Mexico Spanish and so on. Here in the USA it is English and I dnt care how many latinos move in they immigrated HERE! If I immigrate to their country I'll learn spanish. Whoops looks like the soapbox is under my feet. anyone else want a turn?

SURPRISE!!!! eh. I'm home early!! I have decided something today and THAT is.... I would NOT want to be a cabinet installer! Aaaand I found out why they do not put soffits in kitchens anymore. If they aren't perfect, neither can the wall cabinets be. But, they are done and look pretty good if I do say so myself. Come to think of it...., I just did. We showed some pictures to Mom and she said she wants to move back in. Too bad it is her nest egg otherwise I'd be all for it.

Farmers take care of something? HA!  Well some do, but most put stuff away and don't even mess with it until they need to use it again. I've seen more than one shed door hang from one hinge until the wind finally ripped it off. Also, the wind blew the sliding doors up and flipped them onto the roof one year because my buddy only closed one side of the doors. They stayed there for two months until, yes once again, the wind blew them off.

Looks like at least some of you got some MRR time in today.

Glad to see you back at it again Jim. I also had one heck of a time finding a container that was large enough to hold a loco body, but small enough I didn't have to use a gallon of alcohol to cover the thing. I ended up doing what you did and rotate.

Galaxy- I can't remember the details on just what you‘ve done, but I would use some spot cleaner on the area that Mr or Ms Mouse expired on after dousing with Lysol spray to kill the...Confused... whatever Lysol kills. Not sure now. I just know my Mom's answer to all things yucky was to spray with Lysol. Anyway, after a generous shampoo and dry then I would spray with Febreeze using a fragrance of your choice. Setting a bowl of vinegar by one side and a box of baking soda by the other. I agree with you on the dead smell. I have a real strong stomach but not for that.

Keith- Forest? What forest. I guess I couldn't see the forest for the trees. ( I just HAD to beat Garry to THAT one!!!Laugh ) The bridge turned out great by the way.

Teen steam fan- Though I don't feel a second language should be mandatory, I do feel it is a real good thing to learn. Spanish seems to be the one to pick if you ask me. But that is just my opinion.  First, the Canadians speak English well enough as a whole we don't need to learn French. Sounds a little self centered, but, we like 'em and need to be able to talk to them. They just made it easier on us Second, and probably most important, if you don't speak Spanish, you won't know why the little cones are placed on the floor at the Casey's. PLUS, if you speak Spanish you can understand Italian well enough to get along. Kinda like two languages in one.

Other than that, I'd go for Comanche. Could come in more handy than you think.Cool

Good night eh! Angel

Hello folks: WAY too far behind to reply to the odd question or two that came along - but I do remember CapeJim asking about how the roof repair insurance figured things. AS far as I can see it Jim, they are not able to match the shingle colour on just replacing the actual few shingles involved, and so are springing for paying for the re-shingling of the whole roof sections involved. We're getting the entire roof done, but the insurance is a big help.

Keith: That is a very interesting bridge Bow came out nicely. I've got an arch project coming up, and may well borrow some pointers; thanks!

Since I was last in both Kris' computer and mine had their hard drives wiped by a Trojan - despite our usual precautions. Dollars and angst later we're up and running again - and I'm on Windows 7, with Firefox and Thunderbird. Had to get a driver up-date for the wireless adapter - but all seems OK now.

So, progress on the layout?  IIRC I was beginning to build-on-site the flour mill and bakery complex that replaces this card mock-up. Here's a bit of a blow

-

by - blow

of how it has gone.

Late one evening I broke down and cut some templates for the roofs, they made an instant difference!

I've changed the concrete colour too, (too much green in the one I was using) and added (today) a bunch of details

to the Shipping and Receiving areas.

I re-paved the road with a cereal box side sprayed both sides and the edges with gray Rustoleum (it was on-hand, and is water proof, or resistant anyway) and glued down with "Liqui-Silk" so that the card won't buckle when I re-ballast the spur track and surroundings.

On the "measure twice, cut once" thing, I thought I had the awning for the spur measured right, but ended up having to add another 2.5 scale feet so the cars would clear the supports!Banged Head

THAT added some of the statutory "it takes longer than you think" time.Tongue

We get at least one grandson and friend tomorrow, so I'm not sure how much mrr time will be available. They will be tenting - and we're hoping they are old enough now to handle the inevitable rain!

Time for bed. Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of Healing, Comfort, Prosperity and Peace.Angel
