Mornin' everyone!  How ya doin', eh?

Zoe I'll have the "Lumberjack Special"  this morning.... Tall stack of blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon.  Eh?  Oh yes the Ontario Maple Syrup would be just fine, and don't forget the dark roast coffee in an ONR mug.

Heartland Division CB&Q

Jim .... It's

            HOT  !

Any other questions?

Yep Gary, just think in Moosonee this morning it is all of 20° outside.  Well, yes, THAT comes out to 68°F, but still very pleasant, eh? [edit] Actually they have already had the high for today and right now it is a seasonable 64°F or 18°C......WhistlingBig Smile

Zoe, I thought Orange Juice came with the "Special"?  Oh, I see, Ed's Tank Car is still going through custom's, eh.  Ought to here by the end of August....  Oh well.Grumpy

Have yet to plan out the day....  I'm sure it will happen whether I plan or not...  Hopefully I spend some time in the trainrooms.

Later!

Coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.

***Jeffrey, pretty sure the basic set came with the DC turnouts, especially after pricing DCC turnouts.Shock Seems they came with green wire plug-ins. I'll have to look around to see if they also had switches for them or not. Probably did, just don't remember at the moment. If not, we can always hit the not-so-LHS.

***Todd, you're welcome!Laugh

***Lee, good advice.

Only a few hours sleep last night. Going to be a rough day.

Ryan, on those RR figures, if you want variety, Preiser makes a wide range, but there also are several sets of figures from Woodland Scenics that would be useful. The Preisers will run more $$, so check around to catch places that have them on sale or discounted, The W-S and the Preiser ones are at times on sale in the Walthers flyers, but some places have overall good prices for either. Check the usual suspects online. Good to see you back by the place, and especially with the longer trip to our new digs!

Wanting to find some other waiter & waitress figures. This week I got in the Faller set, but the waitress appears to have about six beer mugs she's holding (great for Germany, but not what I wanted for my U.S.-located setting). I looked on the Walthers site, and the Preiser set isn't any more transportable 'across the pond', so to speak. I may wind up doing some 'surgery' to the Frau/Fraulein to remove the mugs and perhaps make the shape into a tray or something like THAT.

What, no German Beer Garden's in your city? Whistling

Thumbs Up Hey Jim, thanks for the info on the figures! Going to start looking around soon for some usual suspects! Cool

TMarsh

Ryan- No licking? How do I clean my fingers? You don't mean waste that flavor by using the sink do you?

Hey Todd, wash hands first, then cook, then lick! And in that order too! Chef

Todd, you don't want you getting sick from your sticky fingers!!!

Hot by you too huh Garry!  We had one of the coldest February's on record this year, and one of the hottest June's and July's too! Weather extremes....UGH!!!!!

Hey Der John, I could not find the PM online, but did get the email on the grapes. They sound great, wish I had me some grape vines. I hear that muscadine grapes variety grow well in our environs here in NC. Speaking of growing, our small homestead has produced at least 50 pounds of cucumbers this year, and with just one plant too! We are expanding our garden with each season, and just planted two plum trees in the back yard, along with four blueberry plants, and two raspberry plants.

Getting ready to post another recipe soon, in the meantime, I'll have some No-Peep Stew Dinner for lunch today!

All the best to all!  Wink

Setting up the regular remote turnout is easy as falling off a log. The red wire (two wires together) goes from the AC terminals of the power pack to the turnout control switch. You can daisy chain as many control switches together as you please. They just plug into each other and can all be powered through just one of the red wire sets. The green wire (three wires together) goes from the turnout control switch to the turnout that switch controls. If the red and green wires aren't long enough you can get 10 foot extensions for the red and green wires from Bachmann.

Went to Scranton to pick something up for the FIL. A 3 gal compressor he wanted at Harbor Freight Tools store.

Which one did you get?  I plan on heading there next week to pick one up for my airbrush. look at the flier for Aug 5th to the 8th http://www.harborfreight.com/retail-flyer they are going to have one on sale for $50

Also a follow up, My first batch of rocks came out pretty good, only 2 broke, but that's OK they can be fixed - No air bubbles, and the detail turned out.

The one on pg 1 of the July30-Aug26 flyer. He has a special coupon flyer which made it $39.99! {Instead of the $59.99 they have it on sale for in that flyer}

Good afternoon.  Its hot and it looks like some storms might be coming!!

Finally finished up the boxcar I've been working on.   It rusty/dusty!!!  The only that happened doing this car is...........Well you know how I like to knock things off the work bench, well......I knocked over a HUGE container of paint thinner Dunce .   Now the basement stinks.  Gotta let that air out.

Galaxy........I have the same compressor/kit.  I've had it over a year now, and it works good.  I only use it for fading, and dullcote thou.

Well here's some shots of the boxcar.

Hey guys

Took the open-book/note final for my history class last night. I beezed thorugh all but 2 of the questions in an hour, and the remianing 2 questions took me and hour to complete. I got a 98, and a 95 total grade for the class.

Also registered for the fall today. While I was waiting I started talking to a girl who was wearing a Packer's sweater (why would anyone wear a sweater today?) and we spent close to an hour or so talking (turns out we have a lot in common). I gave her my number, but with my luck in this area I kind of doubt she'll call me.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good afternoon. Right now it's what the weather guesser is calling 'cool'. If 93 is cool then I guess it is. The high is supposed to be 102 and the heat index 110. There's a rumor about a small chance of thunderstorms tomorrow.

I got overheated yesterday so I'm not feeling all that great today but still a lot better than I felt last night. Had to go to town today to pick up some electrical supplies and for some reason grabbed my camera on the way out. I went by the KCS yard in Leesville and got this shot of KCS 1918 (GP38-2). I had wanted to catch KCS 3137 (SD40-3) which was there this morning but was conspicuously absent at noon.

Last night I was feeling a little dizzy and somewhat disoriented. At least I don't have that to contend with today. I just feel tired.

Afternoon all!

Time for a RBF I think, Janie.

Duke I like the photos.....  Be careful though, especially taking photos of trains and stuff!  I just received a long email warning from a guy at our museum about taking perfectly legal photos of trains and train stations, etc.  You could end up in jail for using your camera.  May get charged with being a camera user and connected with terrorist organizations like, like Camera Clubs and such.  One such dangerous individual was arrested by AMTRAK for taking photos for the annual AMTRAK Photography Contest.  Yep they nailed him!

Can't be too careful these days you know.......Whistling

Good Evening all,

Getting ready to head out for the day - need to get some stuff done at the house as well today.

Robby, probably best to open doors/windows and let that basement air out naturally. Not sure how the vapours from the thinner would like the sparking brushes on your fanOops.

Duke - nice photos! I think I have the same Shenandoah Valley panorama stashed somewhere. Bet the trip was a hoot on the bike (I used the Focus which was not so much fum at the speed limit)!  Next is the dragon down in N.C. right?

Gotta run - try and catch ya later.  J.R.

Wife's log cars (from the-bay) arrived and look neat. She loves them. Now, how to work into the Mills property and off-load sight. Found and interesting pic of a platform, but we would need to add some heavy duty posts to keep the logs from rolling into the middle of the Mill yard. Could also add a crane for unloading? (((just checked and she has a crane, but it needs "claws", not the wrecking ball it came with)))

http://www.buffalocreekandgauley.com/STRUCTURES/SWANDALE/Sawmill/Unloading_Logs.jpg

From there we are thinking a pair of log loaders (she already has 2 of these) could transport the logs from the off-load into the Mill proper. Make sense? Any other ideas? There will be no stream with this logging operation.

It's been a cooler-than-usual summer here so far.  Today, highs are in the seventies.  Love it.  Gee, wet winter (after years of drought) and cool summer.  Hopefully, we'll have a 30-foot snowfall next winter (in mountains only).  Things are lookin' up!

They better get those snowplows and spreaders ready for it.

Found all the little switches for the turnouts on wife's layout. Good to go!

Decided to go ahead with a course of antibiotics. Will either improve the weird feeling I've had the past few days in (left side only)= chest, neck, face & arm (in which case probably tooth/jaw related), or it won't.

Evening all Flow a bowl of mild chili and a tall glass of sweet T. Well another day of HOT muggy beautiful New Jersey weather here today. It felt more like you were swimming then walking.........lol After I got my morning work done I decided to do a little modeling. You ever have one of those great ideas in your head that never turns out that way when your done? Well I think I started one of those projects today. A long while back I picked up an entire HO collection from some guy off of Craigs list which all in all was a great deal. $200 for 12 big totes of stuff including 2 Genesis loco's and 4 Atlas/Kato RS3's well anyway there was this little mining structure made out of real corrugated metal all soldered together with this hideous brown paint job on it. I said when I first saw it that this one would be put in the save pile and get a repaint some day. Well I dumped a few bottles of 91% Isopropyl alcohol into my stripping bath aka a plastic shoe box from Lowes Well after stripping the paint off things just don't look as good as I had hoped sort of like that blind date your friend set you up on.........lol So now I have not only a repainting to do but now have to clean up some nasty looking solder joints and add some windows etc. So just what I need one more project started.........lol you all have a good night

Just my 2 cents worth, I spent the rest on trains. If you choked a Smurf what color would he turn?

Galaxy, I have been following your problem of a possible dead mouse.  In short, I've read some articles.. but really didn't find too much.  Seems if the smell is coming from the electrical outlets.. its in the wall.  But here's a snipit I'll copy for you.. seemed to make sense.

Chances are that the mouse died trying to climb out of an area with smooth edges (eg: a heating vent) or got stuck in a tight area in the walls, foundation, or attic. In this case, you need to use your nose to sniff out the strongest smell in the house which will lead you to where the dead mouse is. If there is any way you can access the location, like taking off a heating grate or opening a trapdoor to the attic, then you might have a chance at removing the mouse. However, if the strongest smell is coming from a wall or other inaccessible location, there is nothing you can do except cut a hole in that particular place. At this point you need to ask yourself if dealing with the smell of a dead mouse outweighs the damage done to your house in the process.
Good luck,  I wish I was there to sniff it out.  That would just drive me crazy.

Garry,  In no means are you picking on me.  Nor have I ever thought so.  I do appreciate your pic of stapling the cork.  Lets me know I'm here with others at the same par as far as progress.  I did post a question concerning Electro's verses Insul's.  But to no avail,~  If you get a chance .. run through my post there and see if you.. or any other peeps here want to contribute.

I really thought it was a straight approach (my post concerning Insul,/Electro's)  You leave one station, travel 100 feet to the next station... a bit long.. and a big project for me, but really all you have are about 3 choices.. aside from going full bore and having motorized switches.. and the sorts.

I debated about placing the post here, where I might get more responses from friends.. as opposed to posting it in the general section.  But I felt there are others out there that are afraid to ask the question concerning easy wiring and the sorts.

Maybe I see this as .. All too simple but I really just want to run trains .. lots of them without going DCC or any other fancy hookups.

Jeff and Robby.. let me take time to thank you guys for posting those nice pics.  When I get up in the morning its quite a thrill.  And motiviational. Thanks!

Ray, there isn't a day go by that I don't think of your words... "Measure twice cut once' ... lol.  And then there's Jeanne who says.. 'Remember what Ray said~"

Good morning. It's 80 and partly cloudy. Gonna be a little cooler today with a high of 100 (heat index of 111) and a 30% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.

I really don't want to do it but I'll have to see if I can cut the parent's grass today. It's getting out of hand again. I paid my phone bill this morning. A whopping $19.95 for another year. That works out to about $1.66 a month. For that I can make and receive as many calls as I want in the US and Canada. Call waiting, conference calling, call forwarding, 411 information, 911 service and much more, all free. I wish all my bills were that low. Only catch to the phone service is that my computer has to on for it to work since it plugs into a USB port and works over my existing internet connection. The redneck repair job on the radiator fan relay circuit on the car seems to be holding up quite well. Went to town yesterday and the needle on the temp gauge tried as hard as it could but it just couldn't get up off the 'C' on the gauge even in traffic and with it being over 100 degrees.

Today's photo was taken with my ancient Olympus 3 megapixel D550Zoom camera from a moving vehicle with no stabilization.
