 The neck feels somewhat better after an hour in the traction sling. I also helped my nephew get what's left of his Scion unloaded from the trailer. It rolled on the other night but sometime between then and today the tranny went into terminal lockdown and wouldn't come out of park. So he took my advice and dragged the car off the trailer. Nothing to it really. He locked the brakes on his pickup (late 80's full size F250 4X4) so the trailer couldn't move then chained the rear of the car to the back bumper of a late 80's full size Dodge van and used the van to drag the car off the trailer. The car tried hanging on and pulled the truck and trailer back a little ways but in the end the V8 power of the van was not to be denied. The car was unceremoniously dragged off and hit the ground with a very loud thud. My initial sizing up of the cars condition was right on the money. There's no way that thing is seeing the road again unless it's being hauled on something. The engine is all right but the tranny is busted and the body is twisted. 1/2 of the front end is gone and the fenders are pushed back up over the wheels. How the tires didn't get cut is beyond me.

 Barry - it is good to hear from you, although the things you have to report worry me. I´ ve been through some of it myself, only the diabetes part is missing. Life sure will get a new and different quality for you, and not only in terms of a 2´ by 11´ shelf layout Big Smile

Good Day--

Well--We woke up to a "Spring" cleaning this morning--"Spring" was purring up a storm and is a very happy little one now that I'm home...

Yes, let's see. I have to test myself before breakfast lunch and supper then give myself the insulin(NovoRapid) for those times. At bedtime I test again and then give myself the Inulin for that period (NPH). I have now a pile of pils to take as well a some Potassium to take. Basically what occured was that my heart just stopped pumping and just plain' ol' gave up. I was revived by CPR and was taken to the hospital toot sweet. I'll say one thing for darn sure---it woke me up to a whole new set of realities for me--and YesJeff, the next little while will be spent learning the ropes as it were----do not be surprised that I may have questions and send you those questions--

My layout plans are now coming together nicely as well---Ulrich, after looking at the articles recently in MR and the things you've been coming up with I've decided that a small scale 2'X11' shelf style layout depicting the GEXRR Goderich and Hensell line might do the trick----Whistling

 Mornin' everyone!

Zoe just a bowl of raisin bran and a cup of dark roast in a FGLK mug.  What?  NO!  The raisin bran doesn't go in the mug, the coffee goes in the mug!  Everybody has to be a clown......

It is a beautiful day here in the Finger Lakes.  Sun is shining, birds are singing (I think.... might just be those strange sounds us deaf people get in our ears.....), cats are running around the house wrestling, and all is right with the world!  So I'm waiting for something to go wrong...Whistling  Currently 54°F with a predicted high around 66°F.

I was in the process of setting up my projector last night to practice the mini clinic and make sure everything will do what I want it to when the phone rang.  It was my sister....  She had "lost" her email icon in the dock on her MacBook Pro, "Oh, oh,oh,oh, w-w-w-w-what did I d-d-d-do (She goes back to stuttering every time she gets upset).  So, I spent the next hour and a half on the phone trying to figure out why she can't just drag the icon from her applications folder back into the dock.  Every time she tried (after I told her how and where to find the Applications folder) it asked for her password.  OMG what should I do.... Is this going to mess up everything????  No, just type in your password.  Won't accept her password.  Went through this from every angle I could think of.  She finally had to go get her contact lens back in her eye in the right place so she could see, so she hung up and was going to call me back.  In the meantime I tried putting an app in the dock on mine.  No problem!  Didn't ask for a password...  Hm!  It finally dawned on me that she wasn't signed in as the administrator on her laptop.  I seems one of the 3 "Experts" on the Mac that she has tell her conflicting info (me being one of them and 2.5 of them are clueless...) set her up with a different email a few weeks back.  So instead of going into her set up user info and just changing settings, he set up an entirely different user for her because gMail won't accept her old password.....  Duh!  When she called back I had her do the drag and drop thing again  ("But i-i-i-i-it d-d-doesn't work.....!!!)  "I know, just do what I'm telling you!"  This time I had her use her original password, and she says, "Uh!!!  It worked, what did you do!?!"  Of course I tried to tell her and she didn't want to hear the explanation because it would confuse her. Whistling Don't forget, she is much smarter than I am.  Just ask her!

Anyway, among all the other stuff I have to do today I will finish the set up of the projector.

I very likely could, but I need to have the resistor first. No money = no resistor.

Good morning all. Back to waiting tables on Wednesday nights. I like that as the tips are generally good and it's cash. Cash is good for the modeling budgetThumbs Up. WHICH reminds me, I can't find the hot glue gun. I need it for my cardboard strips and I wanted to put a few on today. To go to Wallyworld or wait to go, that is the question. Hate to make a trip just for that, but I want to start some plaster stuff too.

Ulrich- Consider yourself lucky. Sort of. Over here, it would cost you $140 just for the mechanic to open the hood on a MercedesShock. That doesn't make it any easier for you to afford, just something else to be grateful for.

Chris- yea the birthday anniversary is just another day to me too, but I kinda like 'em. Sure beats the alternative.

Lee- Like you I've become well acquainted with polishing agentsLaugh. No one has ever talked of using Never-Dull on track before that I can recall. Goo Gone & clipper oil wins out in my little poll. Lots of other methods. But that seems to largely win out. I wonder why they don't use the "Magic Wadding"? Seems it would be easier to me.

That was my reason for the long report on Never- Dull. Make sure Johnboy or anyone else reading, new I hadn't tried it for track and wasn't saying " it's great!" Then him spend hours using it only to find that is one use it ain't great for.

 Good morning. It's 51 and sunny. The high will be around 80 and it will be mostly sunny.

Nothing special going on today. My back doesn't hurt so much anymore but my neck still insists on being an irritant. Maybe an hour in traction will help it. There has been no progress on the modeling front with the exception of removing the resistors and capacitors from one of the GP30's. With the resistors removed any programming to be dome to them will have to be done on the main, but since they're going to be permanently MU'd that won't be a problem. They're already configured to run tail to tail with only the front lights lit. Eventually I'll get a pair of Digitrax DZ125 decoders for them but until then the POC Bachmann decoders will have to do.

Barry, welcome back.  Sounds like you had quite the adventure.  I’m glad your back with us.

Todd, having served in the US Coast Guard for over 22 years I know Never-Dull!  We use to get it in 5 and 10 pound cans.  I typically run a centerline track cleaning car with Goo-Gone (the citrus cleaner) to get all the dirt off the track then run a centerline track cleaning car with Wahl clipper oil.  The clipper oil keeps the tracks clean for 4 months.  All the local clubs do the same thing.

Ulrich, look on the bright side; that’s still cheaper than a new car payment.  Over the past 3 months I’ve dropped $1200.00 into my vehicle and yes it’s a drain on the MRR funds.

I am just back from the garage. The car now runs nicely again and I am poorer by about $ 140 - that hurts! I hope I can do some MRRing, i.e. start to build the benchwork during the weekend.  It is about time for me to get out of the armchairing mode into building the layout - will keep me out of nonsense.

Welp, been busy here lately...only had the chance to stop by the take-out window so not "up on things" enough to offer much commentary on the past several pages of conversation. Busy screwed-up day tomorrow (two shoots in the morning, long gap, then school board meeting tomorrow night). Shot a full-dress rehearsal for "The Curious Savage" this evening...which was the first play I did set crew w**k on back in high school (fall '86 to be exact).

With THAT, I'd best get moving...I need to at least rough-edit tonight's pics, would be best if I did the full edit/processing. One less thing to deal with tomorrow and my dreaded Thursday.

Ulrich ... Thanks for the photos of the electrics. I wonder if they have grade crossing collisions with big trucks in Germany. I would hate to be in the cab of one of those locomotives if that ever happened.

From the information given us at Transit, those locos are supposed to be rated for a "head on" collision of over 120 mph... or was it higher???  I think it was higher... There is a LARGE beam in between the two "windshield" windows, which accounts for all the stability in a collision!

I'm still catching up. stuck on page 38... we'll see if I can catch up quickly!?...

Ulrich- Good luck on the job!  It is a good job, and Transit is one of the most stringent training programs around.  I'll be praying for you!  I know you can do it!

BARRY!!!!!!!!!!   He's back!!!  Hide the PIES!!! Except the Keylime Pie, I'll treat him to his own personal pie!  Glad you are doing better!!!

Ray- You're not alone keeping her in the prayers my friend.

WARNING ON THE NEV-R-DULL!!!! I have not used it on track. I do not know how it will behave first hand. I use it on all sorts of stuff and have absolutely no problems. If you've never used it, it is mess free. Simply rub the wadding and there is a slight oily fluid that is just damp that the cloth contains. It looses the soil and the fibrous wadding that you tear a small chunk off of does the scrubbing. Follow up with a clean cloth and firmly rub the black film off and it is as clean as a whistle. No muss no fuss, no bottles no nothing just a small piece of fiberglass looking stuff that has all you need except the clean towel. Yes I have used paper towels too with no problems.  Now I say all that to say I don't know how quickly grunge will return to the rails. I do not recall any film left over to collect ook, but there may very well be a minute amount, as unlike Mothers, or other brands, the fluid does not dry to polish. The wadding does that, the fluid cleans and is wiped away. I have used it for all sorts of polishing from aluminum wheels, (now that can take a loooong time but it works better than Mothers ever thought of), to belt buckles and assorted other brass items Uncle Sam made me shine. The tarnish didn't seem to return any sooner than it did with anything else. It's pretty economical too considering how much you end up using.

BARRY OLD FELLA!!!! Glad you're back. Man once I recalled the tests you were having I got a bad feeling. We haven't had real good luck with the tickers here of late. I am familiar with the blood sugar jumps and dives Jeff spoke of. My son was diagnosed with diabetes several months ago. He's lost probably 50 pounds in the last year. He also has those spikes for no known reason. Anyway, take it easy there man.

Future field to be plowed by draft horse at lower left. Road from field goes up to plot for future chicken house. From there, road continues to either farm house or out to main drive. Added rocks around part of field for interest. Materials are still drying in these pics.

On April 6th I went into a coronary arrest, that and my diabetes kicked right in and ---well---I learned a few things about my body let me tell  you.

I hear you on that. Heart problems and diabetes are two things I have a fair amount of knowledge on. As a diabetic I have a higher than average chance of having a heart attack, about the same as someone who has already had one, and I've already had a mild one myself a few years ago. Not an experience I would care to repeat. I was able to get myself to the hospital before any more damage occurred. Since then I've had to monitor my health closely and that's that diabetes can make somewhat difficult. Many would think it would be easy to keep your levels under control, but it's not that easy. I've had times when my blood sugar level wi=ould be normal then suddenly drop or shoot through the roof for seemingly no reason. I've also had to severely curtail my activities to compensate.

Hello--I'm back---from the dead----literally.

On April 6th I went into a coronary arrest, that and my diabetes kicked right in and ---well---I learned a few things about my body let me tell  you. The Thames valley EMS guys really had their work cut out trying to perform CPR. I ended up at the London Health Sciences Center for the last 2 weeks. I'm now on a whole new regimen when it comes to my diabetes--as I now have to take fast acting and longterm insulin...

I'm going to have to read up on all the activiities of you lot ---- oh thanks for all the prayers.

 Evenin' folks!

Flo I'll have a hot chicken sandwich, with sides of Fresh steamed asparagus, and applesauce.  I'll be in the back relaxing.

Got 4 old dead refrigerators hauled out of camp and to an appliance dealer who recycles them.  Then I tackled the lawn again.  Man, did it grow over the past several days.  Got a bit over 1/3 of it mowed.  The Temps got up in the mid 60s today and are supposed to reach the high 60s tomorrow.  Nice sunny day as well!

Tonight I plan to continue w*rking on the first clinic presentation for a week from Saturday.  I tried out what I put together last night before bedtime and found that my 15 minute presentation takes a little over a half hour........  I will cut out a few non essential things and have a go at it again tonight.  If it goes well, I will start assembling the materials for the second 15 minute presentation.

These new cars just can't take a punch. I think I'll hang on to my Century. It's a 16 year old law agency veteran but it's a tough old brute and I like having some armor around me.

I hear you on that one. The other day when I went to college I saw a older chevy SUV T-bone one of those scions. The chevy just had some scratches, but the Scion drivers's door and fender were pretty tore up. I had to stick around as a witness because I was the 2nd car behind that Chevy.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

 Hey folks. sorry, it's been a while. been thinking a lot of stuff over and dealing with school stuff yadda yadda yadda. but anyways, still hoping to get scenery started soon enough. maybe this week, maybe next, not quite sure. do need to get some more scenery supplies, but should be able to do that. I think first to come will be the forest in back of North Branch, so there'll be a tutorial on making my homemade armatures. and also weaving them into a forest.then I'll progress on to the houses, then the team track etc.
