Hello ..
Still busy here.
Todd, that's good news about your grandson. Please keep us updated.
Sam .. congrats on passing the exam.
Ray ... I know you work with Boy Scouts. You may like the link I posted last nite. UP RR hs a locomotive commemorating the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts. It is a neat story. ...Also Ray, I like the pix of your steam loco exiting the tunnel. How can the crew breath all of the smoke?

Afternoon folks!
Zoe I'll have a RBF to tide me over to suppertime.
Was outside earlier and I have asparagus peeking through the ground. Looks like I will get the first picking withing a day or two.
Garry, I checked the link out. Very cool! Too bad it won't likely make its wayt up here to New York.... Looks like the Scouts were enjoying it! Thanks for the comment on the tunnel photos. I think the crews learned to hold their breath........

Good afternoon all!
I have to thank you guys for the well wishes and thoughts and prayers and such! (I know, run on sentence!)
I have a week to get the Atlantic City Line down... also have to get a physical done before the 15th of the month (part of the job, they wanna know we're still overweight and able to run trains! Lol)
Jeff- Is there any "recovery" from your foot conditions? Hope the boots help!
Galaxy- Glad the doc was able to find the problem. Prayers that your back heals quickly!
Joe- I've been set up on a blind date once in my life, by an ex-gf of mine. Worked out well, we went to see Titanic (yeah that dates me!!!). However, I didn't see much of the movie!
Anyhow, I'll be in a booth spreading out my "Special Instructions" and company provided maps... Gotta do better than last time...
Zoe, may I have a large RBF and a SRP? What... oh, yes, the WHOLE pie!
Hey, how come EVERYONE ducks for cover when I order pie??? SHEESH!

Good afternoon.
Spent about 5-6 hours train hunting, and only found three. I thought I would share a old "Conrail". I wanted to get a video, but the train was to fast.
I also got a CSX with empty coal drag on the other side of the river.

I'm not feeling all that great tonight. Guess I overdid it rushing back and forth between docs offices in two cities. Y'all have a good one.
Trainman Sam Galaxy- Glad the doc was able to find the problem. Prayers that your back heals quickly!
Well, Sam he hasn't really solved the problem yet. He's just throwing more heavy duty controlled substancepain killer at it along with muscle relaxers. Seems to soften teh pain but not eliminate it yet.
I have a feeling theres a longer road ahead of pain and agony.
jeffrey-wimberly I'm not feeling all that great tonight. Guess I overdid it rushing back and forth between docs offices in two cities. Y'all have a good one.
Take it easy on yourself Jeffrey...If you were a drinking man I'd buy you a stiff one...and me both. I've told you before when the prayer candle is lit, extra prayers are there for you too. I have no choice but to take it easy and I feel lazy as laundry and dishes pile up that I can't even do. My other half doesn't want to come home after a long day at work and have my chores to do to. It's not fair. But neither is the pain inflicted on us.
INCH heres to prayers for your family too, sounds like they need them!
Have a good night's sleep everyone!

Evening all, just a RBF for me. Thanks to everyone on the comments on the SD40-2. Vincent, I got ahold of that 40-2 for little-to-nothing from MB Klien, its a Bachmann and is DCC equipped, but no sound, so that might be a detractor for you.
Inch, nice to see you finally! We've been a little worried about you sir. Sorry to hear that your grankids aren't all doing that well, but prayers and well-wishes for their speedy recoveries.
Galaxy, sorry to hear that the back issue won't be getting any better easily, but prayers to you.
Nothing much happening, supposed to come a rain tomorrow (great, it'll wash the yellow off everything!), and I've got w**k from noon till six, so I'll see y'all in the morning.
Well, guess I'm going to go and throw my oldest daughter into the bathtub and then go and hit the hay.
Good evening everyone:
I think I may be in love! I got the decoder installed in my new Atlas GP38-2. I then went to the photo file and found the GEXR (Yes Barry that's the Goderich and Exeter) loco that I had seen in Stellarton some a year or three ago. Turned out to be the 4022 - which is a GP40, and with dynamic brakes, so I can't even fake it since my 38-2 doesn't have them. Thanks to Google, I found a pretty close match for mine in the GEXR roster - and figured that it will do just fine for leasing to the Maritime Trunk, since RailAmerica owns the GEXR and the Cape Breton Railway, which is why GEXR 4022 was in Stellarton years ago. So, I looked on a site that shows the GEXR roster, and found this which is "close enough for government work". That's why my 38-2 now has long address 3856, and looking at the paint scheme, why I think I'm in love! (Did I mention that blue and gold featured heavily in my High School colours? )
Now I've some questions Barry, do you recall seeing this loco around Stratford? Or, have you seen GEXR locos with that same paint? Is that a dulled metallic gold, or just a yellow that I'm seeing as gold?
Chris: That;s, if both articles come to light, that would be dandy.
Sam:
Todd: That's really good news, thanks for letting us know!
Ray: I hope the school isn't mired in school board budgetary hassles on that payment.
I'm only ½ way down Page 14, and Kris has reminded me we have an earlier than usual start tomorrow, so I'd better leave things as they are and say Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers continuing for all in need of Healing, Comfort, Prosperity and Peace.
Here's an offering Lee sent today:
"There are always alternatives, Captain" - Spock.
Good Evening, tall RBF please 'n thank-you.
INCH: Good to see you again Sir! Sorry to hear of all the toils and troubles though. Please pass on a hearty "thank you for your service!" to your grandson.
TODD: Very glad to hear of your grandson's improvement!!
VINCENT: I really don't know how to describe it, but the green putty seemed harder to w**k with, like it would dry-out almost right out of the tube. The white seems to have a slightly thinner consistency, giving me more time to get it where/how I want it. I swear by the stuff now. I swear AT the green stuff. Years ago, I used the Testor's contour putty. I won't go near it...not even on a dare now!
DER JOHN: I'll dig-up those articles within the next few days, w**k stuff has amazingly multiplied upon me. Pulling them out and scanning them may be a good "sanity break" for me! THAT pic of the trestle fire (from Kansas, I think) always impresses me. My first inclination is to blitz it with the deck gun (large master stream nozzle on top of the pumper)...but then I get to thinking "you're not gonna save anything," so... pull up a chair, enjoy the show, and prepare to knock-down any grass fires THAT extend from it. At least it was a coal train involved. My luck? It'd be a whole lot of HAZ-MAT sitting there!!!
KEITH: Santa Anna winds... yup, heard 'em called "Devil Winds." THAT's what the LACoFD calls them. How's your brush clearance looking these days? Got a good "defensible space" around your house? "Shake and Bake in the land of Fruits and Nuts!"
Welp, congratulations everybody...uh, everybody in here who pays federal taxes to Uncle Sam, THAT-is... you've all contributed to the rebuilding/repair of the historic Sutliff Bridge in Sutliff, Iowa. 1/3 of the bridge, the longest Parker Truss in the country, was washed away in the 2008 flooding. FEMA has agreed to give Johnson County $1.7 million, and will likely now provide another $400,000 to pay the entire project in-full. The Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 tonight to repair "in-kind." The 2 surviving spans are in "critical condition" with much repair w**k needed, plus several upgrades to bring them in-line with ADA requirements, safety requirements (can't have a fisherman fall off now can we?), etc. The missing span will be built as much like the original as possible...meaning somebody will get to fabricate bridge parts not made for many, many decades.
YOUR tax dollars at work!
I'll stop here...I feel a rant coming on.
Best wishes to all, with extra good thoughts to sore backs, ankles, and anything in-between, above, or otherwise in need of repair/recuperation!

Chris.. you see this stuff.. on the ground..?
In CA.. if you threw a firecracker down.. the whole area would be ablaze and done with in less than two minutes. They call the stuff up in the hills of California Chaparral.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_chaparral_and_woodlands and that stuff.. is like.. well more like gasoline with the winds whipping it up.. into towering inferno's. Big medicine.~ When the hillls catch fire.. some fire fighters have seconds. to dig in.. drap themselves with a fire/heat blanket it and let it blow over. If ya dont'.. you're gone. Its that fast.
Long ago.. Keith and Jeanne moved off to the central coast.. over looking the ocean.. in a pine forest.. well that town had burned down to the ground.. 80 years ago. Nothing left.. all gone.. it goes that fast.
Anyways.. at that house.. you had to have all the brush around your house, cleared and cut. If you didn't the city would do it for you.. and the bill would be placed on your taxes.. and of course you'll pay your taxes on your house~ I also got poison Oak clearing the land .. and that stuff will drive a person crazy.. I still have the scars.. and the oil blots left in the skin ..... and the scars etched in my mind~
Good morning all,Sam, Congradulations on the results of your exam.Todd, I’m glad your grandson is doing better.Went to the MRR club last night and worked on some scenery. I need to build those 50 apple trees for the orchard I started.

Good Afternoon,
it is a little past 1.30 pm, so still time for a little lunch.
Zoe, I´ll have a double, Barry-sized Greaseburger with cheese and onions, fries, ice cream and a coffee to follow - thank you.
The train room is slowly getting into shape. With moving out my son´s gear and getting a new wardrobe, I was able to re-arrange the room a little and it is now ready to receive my layout. I will post the order for the lumber today, but it will take up to 14 days for delivery...
It is a small step for mankind, but a big step for me!
Lee - let´s see some of your apple trees!
Will be back later!
Lee - that looks just like an apple orchard in eastern Washington State! Nice!!!
the two covered hoppers are on their way here from Extreme Hobbies in Kalamazoo Michiganthe three tank cars are coming from Coolest Toys on Earth in Milford Ohio. 50 pack of couplers is on it's way from Tri-County Inc. in Richardson Texas.GP30 on it's way from Trains and Lanes Hobbies in Easton Pennsylvania Now, we'll see which one gets here first.
Hio guys
Bad night last night, not much sleep. I feel exhausted.
Took oxycontin and percocet at 5 am. still at 934 not much relief. There has to be something more to this. Next is a muscle relaxer and la la land. I can build whatever kind of layout for free in la la land!!!
Other half going out shopping and such, but I think I stay home.
I did some ordering online for other half's B-day comming up. That is one good thing about the net...you can order from home, and get what you want. In this case it's Hawaiian shirts form hawaii that my other half sent explicit emails to me about which shirts, etc wanted. Easy Peasy. Course I ordered a few for myself too! WE both wear Hawaiian style shirts made in Hawaii since we visited it in 2005. We wear them all summer long. We hope in 5-6 years to go back to Hawaii. Hopefully after we have aquired a house. Next year we are scrimping and saving to go to Disney World again with another couple.
The pussys on the willow have all fuzzed out and are blowing away.
At least Jeffrey has some exciting things to look forward to.
HAve a great one everybody.

Good morning all. Coffee and a sweet roll please. Won't be home long, today is Mom day then work. Looks like it's shaping up to be a nice day out there. Cool but nice.
Inch- Glad to see you! Well, doesn't sound like you haven't been busy! Glad everyone is doing well. Jbirds in my prayers. Sorry about Beth. And of course Major, but boys will be boys and that stuff's gonna happen. At least he didn't get hurt too aweful bad. Congrats on another service member in the family. Yeah, I'd rather see the Navy or the Air Force if it were a kid a mine, but, if they stick with it, it makes a pretty good little benefit package.
Galaxy- No it's not fair, but then what is, not much my friend. Been there with the not doing anything for awhile, though luckily for me there was no tearing, but I know what you mean by not able to do anything. That will pass in time. May seem like a long time but after, it will not seem long at all. Prayers for you.
Ulrich- Glad to hear things are progressing on the MRR front.
Since I won't be able to tell you this weekend, I'll tell you now. My plan is to go to the fairgrounds twice this weekend. Once on Saturday for the big electronics disposal thing where you bring your old junk electronics for disposal. Got an old console TV that needs to go. Make room in the train room , course then what do I do with the stuff sitting on top? It never ends does it.Anyway, then again Sunday for the Springfield Model Railroader clubs meet. Hopefully THAT will happen. I'll keep an eye on the boxes for ya Inch.
Taxes are done. Ugh I thought taxes went down this year..... Last year...... However you say it.We still owe more but not as bad as last year.....year before.....whatever, of course I didn't farm much last year either. Yes that time I'm sure I mean last year. Or do I?
Have a Great Day!!!
Hi there,
it is r*ining outside and I am pretty much done with my room - looks mucho better than before. I could nearly get all my clothing stuffed into that new wardrobe. AND I found a spot for my favorite lounge chair - the place where I will be reading my MR. There are only about a zillion pictures which wait to be hung up - did I tell you, that Petra made them? She is really talented, her Great-Grandfather was a gifted artist in the early 1900´s.There is also my train clock, NYC-style, which still needs to find a place.
I am really exhausted now and my back is still hurting a lot. I should get out my tape measure to take the proper dimensions now, but I am too tired to do it. The time of truth or consequences is postponed until tomorrow!
Galaxy - I join you in your pain. I took a pain killer a couple of hours ago, but might as well have not taken it - no effect! My Doc is out on vacation, so I will have to wait and suffer until he is back (Monday).
Jeff - I bet your looking forward to receive that package! I have to wait until next month to place the order for tracks and switches. It is going to be nan awful drain on the budget and Petra will do a little more than just bat an eyebrow, when she sees the cost of it. But she knows it keeps me happy, and after a little howling and growling, she´ll be my sweetheart again. And hopefully makes some Apfelstrudel for us m- haven´t had any for a long time!
Talking of Apfelstrudel, Zoe, I´ll take a coffee and a slice of that SRP!
Does anyone have an idea, why Tom (California) is not joining us anymore? Is he just taking a break? I really miss his witty description of his days on Jesuit High.
Have a good one, y´all!
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe I'll have what Ulrich is having... But with my usual dark roast of course in a FGLK Mug.
Ulrich sounds like you are having fun already (except for the back).
Sir MadogDoes anyone have an idea, why Tom (California) is not joining us anymore? Is he just taking a break? I really miss his witty description of his days on Jesiut High
Hopefully he has just been too busy to pop in a chat. I too miss hearing about what he has been doing. I see his name in a post out on the main board every so often so I guess he is OK. But... Tom! Get in here for a cup of coffee and an update on what you have been up to!!! Hope it wasn't some of the "out of tune" singing in here a while back! You know how them pananists are with the perfect pitch and such............
I managed to get the rest of the 2x6 studs in place on the side walls of the engine house last night so the outside of the walls will get a coat of gray paint today and then get glued together. I am waiting for a call from a High School Guidance Councilor. Left a message on my machine which doesn't work, so i called back and he is now in a series of meetings...... Most likely something to do with Scholarship applications, I bet.
Best get doing a few things in the meantime, so I will catch you all later.
Prayers for all of you experiencing pain right now!

I know how you feel. I had a somewhat restless pain killer induced sleep myself. I hope you get some sleep.
The extra odd thing, Jeff, is that I already take Trazodone, an anti-depressant that has the side effect of impending sleepiness on the body. {I am bipolar or manic-depressive if you didn't know, hence my disability case plus other maladies} SO I take IT to sleep {and sometimes add Ambien [sleep aid] together if I can't sleep}, but pain overrides sleepiness. All I did was toss and turn.
I also understand your meaning about overdoing it, and I can only imagine what pain you are in.
I now have 21 medications to take. Wish some would work well.
Get ready ot go through some Forum Withdrawal as in about 24 hours they shut us out of the site!!!
WEll, take care guys
Morning all, just stopping in for a tall glass of milk and a sausage biscuit. I'm about to head out the door to run some errands before heading into w**k at noon. I didnt' think I'd be saying this but, its raining! yay!!! Now all the pollen will get washed off everythign and the slight yellow tinge the world has had for the past two weeks will be gone for a while, and on top of all that, I can actually TELL what color my truck is!! Okay, rant over. Welll, I'll be off, talk to y'all later.
Good afternoon. No rain yet, but its around!!
Not much planned for me. I haven't touched the layout in a week or so. I might have to go down in the basement and see what won't work. You know if you don't do anything to the layout, it seems like something won't work .
Here's the new arrival.
Afternoon all...its cloudy and only 46 after 80's for awhile...I'll have a double cheese burger, onion rings and a diet Coke...The put new carpet in our apartment so railroad was shut down and internet out for awhile just getting everthing going..havn't been able to keep up with youall...I am setting here on puter running a coal drag and checking out a new CD I got on ebay Jazz the World forgot...Jazz classics of the 1920's...
When i got the railroad running this morning my Alco RS dragged [and I do mean dragged] this strange hopper up from interchange at Greenup...It seems to be some very strange gauge {don't think it will catch on]..Yard master checked he can't find the CM?...
A old friend stopped by last nite and gave me this hopper from his road the Colorado Midland...Had a great visit...
You all have a good one...Jerry
Jeff........Good looking engine. Is it going to be a L&N?
Jeff.......That was nice that your friend gave you a hopper. I'm sure the engine is like .
I thought I would post a couple of pictures of the hoppers I got yesterday. I posted a rusty one, for the guys that like them rusty!! Then a picture of a nice clean one. For the people that like them clean.
