You an dI are in complete agreement. I was 17 back when that happened, he was in his mid 30's. The incident involved a member of my family.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm STILL Pee-Oed about this guy... TODD, you must just be beside yourself over all of this. The way I see it, he not only messed with your family...by doing so, he messed with OUR family, and we want a piece of him!!!

LEE: I agree, 100%...I'd love to see the P.O.S. begging. Heck, I think he oughta be punched in the stomach and thrown two stories several times/day...until he "understands" a few things... Trouble is, scum like that seem to never learn the errors of their ways... which goes back to he should never see the light of day ever again.

SAM: No sweat Guy, hope it helps... if nothing else, it might give you something else to do/think about/plan/dream/etc. on your sn**-filled relief days.

JEFF: Needless to say, but I'm gonna say it anyways...you're a good, honorable man. I had to laugh an evil giggle when I read the part where "he's making progress." The bracken-frack shoulda never woke up, in my book.

RAY: Glad yer off the hook for jury duty... I figure I've got a trump card for avoiding it: "oh, sure, I'd be delighted to serve...by the way, I used to be a paramedic who responded to (drunk driving, domestic assault, assault and battery, sexual assault, etc., etc., etc.) so I'm sure I'll bring a unique perspective to the jury pool...Big Smile" Thank you Mr. Umscheid, but we won't be needing you.... Long before I ever got into EMS, I was cut-loose from jury duty by flat-out telling both lawyers (during the jury selection process for a DUI case) THAT I felt drunk drivers oughta be shot right there on the side of the road. Not sure why they didn't take me...

Welp, this week has been a kick in the scrum hours-wise. Between the basketball fiasco, an interview being postponed until at least next week, two other stories hanging-in-space, and a wave-off on a school board meeting tonight... what was gonna be a big-hours week has turned into minimum rage. But, I picked up a business feature (new pizza joint in Ely) tomorrow afternoon, and a District Final basketball game for Clear Creek Amana tomorrow night. I've also got two gigs back-to-back Friday night to turn around for THAT to have Monday morning...so will make up some financial ground.

STILL gotta write THAT blurb (toughest thing I've written yet...and it only has to be a couple of paragraphs!!Banged Head) on the Daddy/Daughter dances. Somehow...I think TODD could write a helluva strong lede (opening paragraph) about Daddies and Daughters right now...

Time to take Rerun for a quick stroll...he probably needs to do something...and I need a smokey-treat.

Jeff- I am really liking the weathering you have done!  Looks great!

Question for all- If any of you know of someone who does custom model painting, please drop me an IM?  Thanks!  I have a few contacts in my area, but neither has a reference to "back up" their experience in the trade.  So, I am attempting to find and "compare"!  Thanks again!

Good evening friends!

Todd- What the (bleep)!?!?!?  This is reason ONE of a thousand that we need to bring back “Eye For An Eye” in this country! I believe that he has a severely damaged future ahead of him! The people in the “cells” he will soon be calling home will be ever so thorough in “retribution” for atrocities committed! I sure wouldn’t leave him in this realm of the “living”… The only “deal” the prosecutor should be offering is fried or extra crispy!

Well, I begin my two days “rest”, just in time for a nor’easter to come a rollin’ in! Yippy Skippy! NOT!

Chris- Thanks for the article!

Lee- where did you see the “billboards” for 99cents? I can’t find them anywhere.

I got the April issue of MRR today! Haven’t started reading yet… planned for tonight, so I’ll go sit at the RC!

Flo, may I please have a large RBF and a good sized helping of pastrami? Thank you!

Afternoon folks!

Zoe I'll have a RBF and a couple of those chocolate chip cookies over on the counter.  I'll go sit at the Rivet Counter for a bit.

The weather service has now upgraded the Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning.  It doesn't look good for travel around these parts for the next couple of days.  I am assuming most everything would be closed by tomorrow afternoon.  This will screw up getting the RR Merit Badge finished with several of the Troop 1 Scouts tomorrow night.  Then I think OMG!  What about the Jury duty thing.....  I quick go to their site to see if they have the listing up for tomorrow yet, and this is what they have for today:

"THIS MESSAGE IS DIRECTED TO JURORS WITH TELEPHONE ID NUMBERS 51 THROUGH AND INCLUDING 300

THERE ARE NO TRIALS SCHEDULED FOR YOUR TERM OF COURT.

YOU ARE HEREBY DISMISSED.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CHECK THIS WEB SITE AGAIN.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR WILLINGNESS TO SERVE. "

YES!

Now I can concentrate on some modeling while the storm blows by!

Todd, my head is still reeling about what has happened to your family!  These are those things THAT happen to other people, not to people you know.  We have had a couple similar type things around this neck of the woods over the last few years.  One recently where a woman ran over her boyfriend after he slit her throat during an argument while she was sitting in her car.  She was picking up her kids who were at his house while the mother ws at work.  She was hospitalized for a few days, but has completely recovered.  The boyfriend was hospitalized for about 4 months and was just released to answer attempted murder charges.  Very sad state of affairs for all involved with these senseless happenings!  I was really hoping I wouldn't end up on the jury for the case!!!

Prayers for all in need!  Later!

Todd, sorry I haven't posted anything relating to your trouble. If I did this whole thread would probably get pulled while Mr Webster added new words to the dictionary. I will add this though. I ran across a monster like that once. After I finished with him he spent nearly a month in the hospital before being sent to another hospital that could better care for him. Last I heard he was 'making progress'. Suffice it to say I don't like sub-human creatures like that.

Jeff, that box car looks like the real thing.

Todd, I took 3 weeks off to remodel my neighbor’s kitchen then I went to work.  Wholly Toledo, give me a few minutes with that guy alone and he will beg for the two story patio drop!

Thoughts and prayers to you and your family, sorry anyone had to go through that!  I hear people like him don’t last long in prison.

TODD: Words fail me in expressing how bad I feel for your grandson and daughter. I have a number of ideas about what to do to the "boyfriend," but this is a "family-friendly" forum...and they don't allow that kind of language. Suffice it to say, I've got a baseball bat and an axe... I just hope (and yes, pray) that he is now the EX-boyfriend, that she gets the no-contact order, that she finds someplace else to live...the farther from this scum, the better. And yes, I hope word spreads throughout the jail (hopefully soon to be prison) about what he did. I'm thinking some of his "new playmates" might not take too kindly to killing a puppy and beating a child.

I'm gonna go have a seat...words are wanting to come out that just aren't allowed here...

Hey ya'll

On the break between my 2nd and 3rd classes again. I really hate the amount of writing that has to be done. It's really quite strange that buerocrats passed a law that students (both college and grade school) have to write a 600+ word essay weekly (and I have 2 of these classes). Then they wonder why the grades are starting to slip statewide? I say it's a matter of quantity versus quality. At least after this semester I shouldn't have any more essays again.

Todd,  Beating a baby, killing a little puppy, and beating his girlfriend? That's just disturbing, and I hope that guy gets locked up for a long time. Prayers to you and your family.

Todd ... I'm really upset to read about your daughter and grandson. My hackles are up. The "boyfriend" should be in prison as a reult. Our prayers are with your family.

While on the topic of evil people, I'll tell you of a situation here in our county. A man will be sentanced soon for his crime. He already did plead guilty. A little over a year ago, he invaded a home with three kids and their mother in it. He stabbed all three kids to death. The youngest, a five year old boy, had the most stab wounds. He left the mother for dead with a knife in her neck in a swimming pool. He then set the house on fire. Somehow, the mother survived.

 Mornin' everyone!

Zoe just a bagel w/ cream cheese and a cup of dark roast coffee.  I'll go sit in the front booth and watch the developing storm outside.

The weather forecast?

... A SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM TO IMPACT WESTERN NEW YORK...

.LOW PRESSURE WILL INTENSIFY NEAR LONG ISLAND ON THURSDAY... REMAINING IN THE SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND REGION THROUGH SATURDAY AS IT SLOWLY SPINS ITSELF OUT. THIS WILL BE A SIGNIFICANT STORM... WHICH WILL BRING WIDESPREAD SNOWFALL TO THE REGION. WHILE IT IS A BIT TOO EARLY TO PIN DOWN EXACT SNOWFALL AMOUNTS... STORM TOTALS IN EXCESS OF A FOOT ARE POSSIBLE IN SOME LOCATIONS. SNOW WILL PICK UP ACROSS THE REGION THURSDAY MORNING... WITH THE MOST SIGNIFICANT IMPACT OF THE STORM LIKELY OCCURRING THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING. WINDS WILL ALSO BE A FACTOR DURING THIS TIME... WITH GUSTS OF AROUND 25 MPH PRODUCING AREA OF BLOWING SNOW.

THE HIGHEST SNOWFALL TOTALS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS NORTHWESTERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE... ROUGHLY NEAR THE INTERSTATE 90 CORRIDOR FROM BUFFALO TO ROCHESTER... AND POTENTIALLY EXTENDING INTO THE CHAUTAUQUA RIDGE AS WELL. SLIGHTLY LESSER AMOUNTS ARE LIKELY IN THE SOUTHERN TIER... AND EAST OF LAKE ONTARIO... THOUGH SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS MAY EXCEED 6 INCHES IN THESE LOCATIONS AS WELL.

WHILE SNOWFALL RATES ARE EXPECTED TO DIMINISH ON FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY... PERIODIC BANDS OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED TO BRING SOME ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATION... THOUGH IT WILL BE MORE PATCHY IN NATURE.

And I could have Jury Duty tomorrow and have to drive 15 miles to Canandaigua early in the morning to sit and wait........Sigh

Todd............  OMG!  Horrible!  What an awful thing to be dealing with.  My prayers go out to you and all who are involved.  May your grandson recover quickly and all of you be comforted and kept strong in the coming weeks and months while this plays out!

Todd........That is some VERY bad news.  Hopefully the judge will throw him under the jail.   No point at all to hit a child like that, even more.....just kill a small puppy.  I'm sure he will be charged for that as well.  I hope your grandson gets better.

J.R.- Yeah, I see the same thing. Most are of the folks are OK out there, but a few are a bit over the top. Good thing it isn't a face to face meeting. There'd probably be the need for a bouncer.

Jeff- You might want to have the maintenance crew check out the roof on that boxcar. Looks like it's sat outside so long it might need some repair! Looks

Just got off the phone with Brenda from the hospital. Bad news. My daughters boyfriend was watching my two year old grandson who had an ear infection and apparently got upset with all the fussing the child was making and went off. Beat the child and when my daughter stepped in he beat on her too. She is ok with bruises and they thought my grandson suffered only some bruising also, so the hospital sent him home. They hauled him off to jail that day. This happened Friday morning. Yesterday since he hadn't eaten for a couple days or drank anything my daughter took him back to the hospital. After some more test they discovered his stomach was holding air and contained blood. The doctor said it appears he had been punched in the stomach area and damage has been done to the spleen and pancreas. The normal surgery is to remove them but they are going to keep him in ISU for at least 4-6 weeks to see if they heal so they can avoid doing the surgery. Turns out also the same day, earlier I guess, he beat their puppy about the head with a magazine and because the puppy began crying he beat it some more. The dog naturally was still crying and he then threw the puppy out the patio door onto the concrete courtyard below. They lived on the second floor. The little puppy didn't survive. He threw it in the dumpster. The puppy didn't even get to see it's 14th week of life. He's still in jail and the States Attorney is prosecuting vigorously. They are adding charges continuously. They used to hang people for this.

Sorry to bring this up but I just now got the news and I was in the middle of the post.

Have a great day (I'll try)

Good morning. It's 34 and mostly cloudy. The high is supposed to be in the low 50's and it will be mostly sunny.

I spent a couple of hours this morning doing some work on one of the boxcars with several shades of rust. I like the result and I will see if I can do a similar job on the other two cars. Nothing special going on today so I'll just be getting some rest.

Good morning.  Its sunny, but that all will change soon.  We are currently under a winter storm watch.  The are calling this snow storm a "hurricane snow storm".  We will get about 3-6 inches (thats what they are saying right now), but I believe the NY/MA states might really get it.

Well I'm off to the basement, and try to knock out the hopper.  That should take about 6 hours.  Its not a hard one to do.  My normal rust bucket takes about 12 hours or so.  I will get some pictures up later.

Rob.......Can you go on a payment plan.  I know the power company here lets families.

Good morning all,

Todd, actually what happened was I applied for a few jobs while I was still working (Min retirement in the service is 20 years I had 22), I was excepted for this job when I walked into the Commander’s office and asked if he had a minute, he said he was very busy and asked for me to come back in the morning.  I said sure thing, but if you get a chance to look at these papers that would be great; oh by the way, I quit.  He wasn’t that busy after all to review my retirement papers.  I wound up taking 60 days of leave, but started working this job while on leave.  So I never really stopped working.

Train sale: www.trainworld.com is selling the HO-Scale Walther’s Billboards for 99 cents each!

Sam there is a whole journal on the subject, just ask any carman.  Speaking of that a friend of mine is looking to retire; he applied for a carman job with NS.  I read the job description; wow he is going to get a work out!

Chris & Rob, I’ve only had one person give me a hard time for mixed era trucks on my rolling stock (1950’s they should all be friction bearing) I set a coffee can on the table and said that’s the donation can if it bothers you that much.  Really I’m doing ok, I have a few 36 foot reefers with the iron beam looking trucks that someday will be swapped out.

The
track maintenance crew on my layout is lazy as well; I’m constantly cleaning up after them.  I left CA, 2 rail sections, and track cutters out near the roundhouse for a week and nobody did anything till I went down there last night!

John, I put Vaseline on my Mantua gear boxes in grade school and they are still greased, dirty as heck, but still there.

JR, they are all jealous of us!

Rob, what are you running up there?  Get a wind turbine for the farm, you could have the turbine paid for in 50 months at $400/month.

Keith looks good so far!
