Jeff, check your email

I did. Thanks. That's much the same technique I used to get the effect in the following photo, except I used all flat latex colors.

Good evening ...

I'll have an RBF ....

Sam ... you are correct. There's not much wild life in the corner booth because Duke sleeps there all of the time.  .... If one of those critters gets in Duke's corner, look out!

Cal Tom  ... I thought of you a couple of times. Once for the thread in the forum or the NP Z6. Also, I saw a brass DRGW 2-8-8-2 for sale on ebay. The DRGW engine is being sold by one of those people saying they "know nothing about trains". It is a United model as I could see in the pictures due to the box label. It was under $100 as of yesterday. I think the title was something like "Brass Train Engine" or whatever the seller said.

Fans of the 50's and 60's cars .... This link is for you!

http://cruzintheavenue.com/CarsWeDrove.htm

I added details to a branch line caboose. This is a caboose I converted from a Roundhouse wood caboose to look like a Burlington. It needed more details. I installed the tiny wire grab irons on the top of the coupla. I had to make my own grabs out of 3/8" (HO scale) wire. It's really tedious. Also, I installed footboards on sides of coupla, and I installed marker lamps.

Good evening friends!

Flo, may I please have a large RBF along with a piece of coconut custard pie?  Thanks...

Ulrich- Thanks again for the layout plan... RTS is running smoothly now.  Just wish I would have gotten a reply from the 3rd Planit people,  I want to get a few more trial runs on the digital layout before I put out too much effort putting it on a full-size scale drawing.  I bought poster board graph paper with 3/4" = 1 ft.

Hope everyone had a good day?

Hey, you know what, Flo?  I think I'll have a Barry Burger please?  Got the hankerin' for one all of a sudden!?!

Yes please, all the fixin's!  Thank you.

Well, I got quite a bit of Photo-research done this evening.  Checking all the Rail-Photography sites for anything NH&I related!

Well, I'll be in the corner booth avoiding the wildlife while continueing the web search.

Sam

Evenin' folks!

Flo I'll have the Venison Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes/gravy, green beans, and a Dr. Pepper to wash it all down.

Jim thanks for the email.  I think those are a bit too new for 1925 though.  I found a couple last night THAT might fit the bill.... maybe.  Still open to suggestion.

Spent the later part of the afternoon just sitting around and waiting for the UPS guy to get here.  He arrived a little before 7PM.  I think they are swamped delivering items held up by the last storm on the East Coast.  Now there is another one making its way into the Northeast.  Supposed to be in the 1 to 3" on the map here in the Finger Lakes.  The UPS was delivering UPS to me.....  A Battery Backup Power supply to me.  The old one fried a week or so ago.  Batteries no longer were holding any charge and it was doing some weird things from time to time.  I ended up shuting down the computer any time I was away from it.  After reading the instructions with the new one, it seems I may have destroyed the old one by plugging in my laser printer into the Surge only outlet.  A laser printer is a major power hog even in sleep mode.

Flip hope everything goes well for your wife tomorrow!  Both of you will be in my prayers for a successful outcome!

I didn't get to do the shopping I should have today, so THAT will be put on the agenda for tomorrow during the sn*wstorm.........Whistling

I'm gonna disappear down cellar to the layout and finish some HO scale flooring for the new engine house tonight...

Later!

Aztex- If athearn kits are 7.95 and r t r  are 16.95 I'd rather get the 2 kits. My LHS still has a few.

However, with Deb going to the hospital tomorrow, trains are way back in importance.

Hope everyone warm and well.. Blessings and prayers for all.

DERN, what a race and what a finish! Go Jamie McMurray!

I'm glad I just listened to it all on the radio... I wonder what Jack Roush thought of yesterday's finish...since he had to cut J-Mac loose to get down to 4 teams, and the guy goes and finds success his first time out. Meanwhile: Reagan, Cousin Carl, and The Biff have a good day...Kenseth gets another P.O.S. car.Banged Head

It might be a very long season (again) for the #17...Disapprove

I'm actually not that big of a Kenseth fan; goes back to that spat he and Jeff Gordon had a couple seasons ago. The only car I really don't like is the 18 of Kyle Busch though.

My sister had travel volleyball practice today, and the warehouse they practice in is downtown right next to the tracks, so here's some shots of Norfolk Southern hoppers and also a GP50 (said it under the cab when I looked).
All pics were taken with my cell phone, so they aren't spectacular, but it'll give y'all an idea of what the local trains here consist of. The branch one way would actually make a good model railroad.

Showed my wife her new CSX loco and she immediately said, "This looks like the one I showed you at the hobby store!" She was pleased to have it, even if I have been unable to add the details to it yet.

I joined a local train group today (at least the online part of it) which covers much of northwest Georgia. Perhaps I can meet a decent model builder and do some kind of bartering with them to finish the stuff I cannot. Time will tell.

Hope everyone is doing well this evening.

I worked on a building today, and I give it a D- .   I guess I can keep working on making them better.

Hope everybody is having a good day.  Hopefully not a snow one like me Big Smile.

Welp, with no w**k to do today for THAT...I sat at the RR w**k table...and looked at the roundhouse. Yep. Sat there and looked at it. I know what I wanna do next on it...just gotta wait for the next paycheck to hit, and bills to get paid before I can get the needed supplies to make it happen. Sigh Likewise, I looked at the IC orange grain hoppers waiting on decals, the MoPac boxcar needing decals, and a handful of other projects needing a part, or dullcote, paint or...something. Fire Dept. training meeting tonight...and I actually (so far) am able to attend! Good thing too, it's CPR tonight. Kinda gotta make THAT one as a condition of membership.

Well lookey here...the raccoon is bringing me a refill on my Coke!

Uh, how exactly should I tip him/her...it?

Good afternoon, its a beautiful day out here at MP 25.0 Whistling

Chloe? A Barry Burger with extra cheese and bacon please 'n thank-you...with a large Coke, yep...back at the RC, after I shoo-off this Possum sitting there....ooh....he's smiling at me. Hmmmm. THAT doesn't look like a "happy smile." Think I'll take this corner booth instead.

Welp, Rerun had his birthday celebration yesterday. After a "detour" by the Solon office so THAT I could drop-off photos for THAT and Mr. Boss, it was off to Cedar Rapids. First, we tried to find him a new "Frank." Frank is our name for the battery operated mouse he likes to chase, toss, and generally murderlate... The last Frank was finally killed beyond all manner of repair. After crapping out in THAT search, we stopped at a McDonald's. Poor Rerun, everytime we passed a burger joint, he'd remind us THAT we were supposed to get him his Birthday Bag 'O Burgers.

At the Mc'D's...we got him four $1 doubles (1 patty/year plus an extra for the additional day of wait), and a $1 sundae (just the ice cream). To say he was a happy boy would be an understatement! We finally found him a new Frank...and as is typical of "kids," I'm already having to repair his new toy the day after! Apparently, cats are more gentle than Reruns on these things... He grabs it, spins around, then flings it full-force against the wall!

Oh, and Loving Wife and I acknowledged Valentine's Day. I got her a Matchbox Mini-Cooper to add to her collection. VW Bugs are her main collection, but she also loves the Mini's. If buying my wife die-cast seems odd, look at it this way: any flowers would be dead/in the trash in days...die-cast is forever!!! She wanted to find me a Matt Kenseth NASCAR Ford Fusion...but there won't be any 1/64th replicas of his car this season. His new sponsor is Crown Royal...and since they can't "market to children" no 1/64th cars. I guess I didn't buy enough DeWalt, Carhartt, and USG sheetrock products... Guess I'd better learn to like Crown Royal...and the color purple...

ROBBY P: Good luck on the tests, glad the e-mail found you OK.

SAM: Sounds like you've got a good plan going there... I still gotta get a replacement architect's scale and see what I can do with the wonky published plan.

Hmmmmm. Am I seeing things? Or is there a raccoon bringing out the tray with my burger??? Awwww, it looks so cute in THAT apron....

Good Morning (okay, Lunchtime), Zoe - I'll have a roast beef sandwich, open face with the gravy over the top, some mashed potatoes and a RBF, please. And a metal (solid) cover over it until you get it to me - I'm not keen on those little paw prints in the mashed potatoes, thanks. You'll have a venison steak special for dinner, eh? Hmm, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.Whistling

Heartland Division CB&Q
Jim CG .... I still get this mixed up. Evenings, it's Janie and Flo. Mornings, it's Zoe and Chloe. Right? Where did these names come from?

Garry, Garry, as best as I can tell (when the ladies aren't trading shifts or such) it's Zoe for weekdays, Chloe weekday evenings, Janie and Flo cover the weekends (and the new gal, I'm still learnin' her name). But with the move this weekend, I think they all got called in to batten down things (and straighten up after the move).

Chris, or Todd? Has Rerun or Missy got a new furry friend (wearing a mask) visiting in the Diner lately? I've had glimpses of something fuzzy dashing through the back, I think I saw something like that...

Todd, the benchw**k is coming along - I see you're trying out a location for a silo in the back left there, eh? Wink Yep, women will surprise you like Brenda did (and hopefully it won't be incriminating, or the 'negative' will stick around forever to haunt ya)Oops. I see you have about the same ShopVac model as I do (got mine at Lowe's).

Ray, check your email for an idea on the 'Arr, Arr, Arr - More Power!' (tools) thing...

Sam, it sounds like you're starting to get there on your layout planning. Keep it up! Thumbs Up And I'll bet that you and/or Ulrich will figure how to open his file where you can use it.

Vincent - hope you got a (very) good price on those cars (or the seller will make some kind of adjustments to compensate for you.

What, Zoe? The raccoon took off out the side door after seeing Barry wolf down his food? The poor critter's probably afraid of getting sucked in with whatever Barry's having for dinner...Shock

I'll have my lunch at the window booth and try to see which way the varmit went...

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

ACCCKKKKKK.... I just got the trackplan finished on 3rd Planit, and now the program WON'T open, it freezes during the "loading phase" and stops on the file name which is my updated trackplan!!!  NOOOOOOOOO  all that work, and that program not working, so it's not like I can get into it to re-do the trackplan!  DRAT, just my luck right!

Talk to you guys a little later, I got emails and phone calls to get to, gotta get this thing running again!

*panting* Finally found this place!! It's a long ways away from the other place

I'll just be in the back catching up.

I recently purchased a group of cars  and they weren't as advertised. Missing parts, busted stirrups, and poor construction on the kits were rampant in all of them. Some stuff I can fix, but other stuff may be harder to fix. Right now I'm needing 1 33" metal wheelset, an underframe from an athearn 50' boxcar, and the fuel tanks off of a 50' mechanical reffer.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Well, I have the day off, thankfully.

Ulrich- I have been unable to downlaod just version 8, and I don't think the demo version has reverse compatibility.  Thanks again for your effort!  Hopefully I can figure out a way to get it opened.

After several attempts to get WinRail going, I spent the remainder of the morning fiddling around with my track plan in 3rd Planit.  I have the tracks laid out, now I just have to remember how to add textures and buildings.

I test ran a locomotive across the digital layout.  It took almost three minutes (at HO scale 25 MPH) to go from Warminster Station to New Hope without a single stop.

If I add the stations at Ivyland and Wycombe, bringing the total number of stations to five, I should be able to extend the time from start to finish to about ten to fifteen minutes.  Take into account the freight crew(s) working on the line, and you will have even more time taken to get across the "road."  I am really starting to like this plan.

Have a great day friends!(EDIT: I GOT TOPS!)

Zoe I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes with a side of bacon to go along with the pot of dark roast coffee in a FGLK Mug.  Oh, and leave the NYS Maple syrup!  I'll be sitting at the Rivet Counter for a bit.  I hear we are having Venison for lunch and dinner.  Yum!

Anybody find my pet raccoon?

Ray...Here is your reminder...our club show and division meet is this Sunday!!..

Thanks, Tim.  Looks like I may be able to be there.  Depends on the weather and some family obligations.

Have to get an order in for some modeling supplies to build the Backwoods Engine house. I have to do some more measuring to see how much room there will be for the machine shop attached to the building.  As with most of my scratch builds, since I am freelancing, Ideas tend to grow and change as I am making the model.....

J.R. thanks for the info.  I will look into the sources you listed.

Barry, looks like we have exchanged one form of "Wildlife" for another.... Whistling  At least at the new location there is a nice pond for swimming and fishing and a good source of ice for the tea.....

Guess I'll go turn the heat on in the layout room in expectation of doing some w*rk down there today.

Later!

I suppose, out here 25 miles from town, the staff here could add to the menu. The could have a low budget road kill menu to help folks in this economy. Can you imagine a "Possom Burger - Barry Sized"? You could really sink your teeth in one of those. Of course, if you have a light appetite, there would be some options. Perhaps, an individual size (normal, not Barry) squirrel road kill pizza would hit the spot.

Out near Strathroy ON there is a restaurant that has a sign -- "Road Kill Cafe". Apparently there have been a few tire screeches as people slam their brakes on---thinking that there really is a road kill cafe---Whistling

Good morning. It's 31 and sunny. The high will be around 50 with an occasional cloud or two.

Today I'll be applying a coat of Clear Flat to the new hopper. One thing I've learned about this stuff is if the coat isn't thick enough it won't knock down the gloss like it should and if it's too thick it fogs up and is almost impossible to fix. It's not like Dull-Cote where you just spray over it. I also have a structure that needs a roof, so I'll likely be making one for it. I found a use for one of the Gramps tankers. Strip the trucks and couplers off it and it's an instant bulk fuel tank for the maintenance building/car barn.

Good morning ...

Tim .. Sorry to hear about your shoulder surgery. Hope it heels well.

Barry .... Wow! Only One bagel! ...I'll mark this date in history.

Chloe ... What did you say? ... Oh, I get it. Barry had a six pound bagel and a carton of cream cheese on it. ... That's Barry-sized alright!

Jim CG .... I still get this mixed up. Evenings, it's Janie and Flo. Mornings, it's Zoe and Chloe. Right? Where did these names come from?

Todd ... your bench work looks good.

Robby ... I like the names on the signs for yopur cement plant and your pallet company. Years back, I was feeling creative with my whimsical 1900 era layout. For instance, one local business had a sign: "Hank's Mortuary. You stab 'em. We slab 'em."

I was in town, and a bunch of ladies stopped me and asked about Jeff and where they could find the diner. Jeff will be glad to know I did not tell them. Later, I was starting to make up a blonde joke about the diner obviously was on the track. Oh, never mind.

Happy Model Railroading

Good Morning All,

Still snowing off and on, with below freezing temps outside.  No truck parts yet but keeping my fingers crossed.
