Welp, I pulled in last night just in time to watch the switcher pull the Diner away, followed the markers to the new location. Walked on in, said some truly brilliant things, made some amazing observations...then found myself laying in a snowbank outside looking up at a big sign saying "OOPS! Something went wrong."
Then, I couldn't get back in...did Vinnie lock the door?
Oh well.

Duke, I'll ride if there's no snow, ice, or frost (or fresh salt or sand on the road surface.....loose surfaces are not good at speed). I also don't do rain and cold mixed. Rain, no problem. Cold, no problem. Mixed, no way. When doing winter riding, it's much like rain riding. You have to ride very conservatively. No steep lean angles, things like that. As you know, I live in Indiana. Last year I rode at least once every month all winter. Some of those rides were short, but I did it. (It's good for the bike too.) Thats my goal this winter as well.
As far as the cold goes, if you're dressed properly, you honestly don't even feel the cold. I have a full face modular helmet with a wind dam for my chin, a warm scarf, thinsulate lined jeans shirt, heavy (1.6 oz) naked buffalo leather jacket, thermal lined leather gauntlet gloves with heat pack pockets for air activated thermal packs to keep them toasty, heavy fleece lined jeans with thermal long johns, leather boots with heat reflecting soles designed by NASA with heat pockets for air activated thermal packs. When I get off my bike, I'm just as warm as if I'd been in my car.
Good morning. It's 37 and partly cloudy. The high should be 50.The Home Health nurse should be coming out sometime today to install my wound vacuum, change the dressing on my central line and do a general checkup. I also have a 2:15 appointment in town to get a Doppler scan done on my right leg. Maybe I can squeeze a little layout work in between.

I'll be at the back booth watching PC thaw out and making plans for us to go to Cuba Ice Camp this Winter (hopefully the ice will be thick enough that we can set up camp out in the middle of the lake.... Huh? No, no, no! Cuba, New York - that's where Cuba Cheese is made.....).

Todd...........The steel/styrene was already a grayish (kinda a dark gray) color. So I didn't change anything. I did add a light dusting of a mix of rust powders to the top of the load. Just a very light dusting. Let me know if your LHS has anything like that. Maybe next weekend (weekend after christmas) I can get you a couple.

Well the ole' Steiger won't pull the Ripper. Grounds to froze and all it does is stall out. Oh it'll pull it but the gear would be so low it wouldn't work well. You should go at a certain speed fast enough to bust the ground instead of slowly tearing it. So that means I'm, hopefully, gonna take a YRF day. (that's Younger Retired F*rt day. Notice the younger and not just young.) Hopefully a bit of train time. That would be nice.
Robby- I remember that car and load. Do you recall the paint color or colors you used for the steel sheets?
That's a major problem I have. I cannot look at a color and usually tell you what colors are used to make it. Yes I can see all the colors just I don't know what color it is. Hard to explain unless you have what I have. (Says as she's refilling the coffee) "What's that? No brain?" Very funny Zoe. You been talking to Brenda?
Jim- I use Ailene's Tacky Glue for most everything you'd use white glue for. Attaching shrubs, leaves on trees, clear window glazing, people, you name it. It's great stuff, somewhat tacky, dries clearish, not very expensive at all, and is a lot cheaper than HobbyTac or like stuff. I would not use it however to dilute like you would Elmers for scenic glue. It's thick and tacky, and would be a touch more expensive. I recommend Ailene's Tacky glue highly for all sorts of things. It's in the arts and crafts section of Wally World. Probably in HL so the 40% coupon could be used and may even be cheaper yet. But still I think we're talking only a buck, buck and a half? Can't remember. There are 2 or three size bottles.
Keith- Word from the experienced! You want some track laid to run a train. DON"T RUSH IT!!!! Pleeease, don't rush it. You will, or probably will, regret it later if not sooner.

JEFF IIRC Strasburg Railroad in Strasburg PA has a real bobber caboose. It is as cute in person as it looks on the layout. It is short and cute and looks funny with two axles only.
Have PT for hands today. Yesterday was great with my back, but they also have me launching on a machine workout regimine that I think is to condition my body rather than target the affected areas. As I told my other half, it is effectively a free workout and I need ot loose 8 lbs to get backt o where I was last year so I won't complain too much.
Got one more thing to buy for xmas shopping , then I'm done. I'm looking for a not so expensive battery operated radio {maybe with a CD player} for my other half....the car radio crapped out and at 18 y/o hte car is not worth putting too much back into- it already needs a new radiator. Unless I run into a few other items in the store. I have ordered some items online that may not be here in time, but oh well.
The prayer candle will be lit for part of the day who need it.

Morning all, notice ,,, I'm not saying Good morning. Reality can be your worst nightmare. My day in laying track on cork was a disaster. I used the Dap.. but the the Kwik Seal. It came apart last night..then I reglued it.. and still this morning... coming apart. Cutting up 6 pieces of flexi.. and wasting them.. well, its going to get expensive. I've gone back and re-read laying track on cork thread. Seems I didn't buy the right glue. In truth I'd thought it would hold. It propably does hold well.. on a straight shot. From re-reading the other thread, I'm out to the store today to buy some .. ah gheez .. I forgot already.. but I think it was some PolySeam Sealer. Clear. As far as the tips on laying track. Ray, I thank for your advice and I am getting a collection of things.. not to do.. when laying track..lol. As far as everything else concerning the layout, well I have to go back and add re-railer's and aside from re-doing it.. well all I can say.. is, its taking time.. and I wanted to have something for the kids when the come home for the Holidays. So, I'll be bummed and busy.
Jeff, I woke up this morning worried about your Christmas present.. If its under the tree it will get crushed. and ruined. Open it up.. or put on the TV or some safe place. Keith

Today will be recovering from doing a-caroling in our local mall and a nursing home----when we got home I found the little 'Spring' was sleeping on the laptop--I left the dang thing on while we were doing that---

The only ones I can find are made by Bachmann. These two 2 axle HO Scale bobbers are on the Bachmann site. Both are in the 'Silver Series' and have blackened metal wheels, body mounted couplers and non-magnetic axles so there's no lurching over uncoupling magnets. They come in two designs. One is the Maryland and Pennsylvania (Product #18439) and is red and the other is yellow and unlettered (Product #18447). Both retail for $15 each. There are some differences between the old and new designs. The newer models have two windows on each side and two windows in each side of the cupola whereas my older models have three windows on each side and four windows in each side of the cupola. Walther's carries several other Bachmann Bobbers. Weyerhauser Timber, Cass Scenic Railroad and Boston and Maine.
