Evening all.  Just stopping in for a nightly RBF and listening to the sound of the rain falling outside.  Its already rained nearly a foot and we're expecting to go pretty close to over that in the next couple of days.  Still no word from Ulrich I see, continued thoughts and prayers to him and his from me and mine.  Well I got to uncondemn some parts on that truck that I'm working on, looks like its just the MAP sensor, blower motor, and blower motor resistor that are OTL.  Oh well not a huge loss on my part, didn't really want to fight replacing the injection pump.

Sadly PC, the answer is no.  Won't be getting a new bike at the time being.  I still have the option to buy one later, but as of right now, the one that I've got available has to go so that some debts that have kinda suddenly arisen can be taken care of.  Oh well, that's how things work.  Well, I think that I'm going to be going off to bed, don't have to be into w**k until 12 tomorrow, but its going to be a pretty long day for me.  I've got to w**k at the parts store, then I've got to pull my volunteer shift at the fireworks stand that our church has gotten involved with, then lastly I'll be putting the truck back together, so yeah, it'll be a late one.

Oh well, them's the breaks sometimes.

Good evening gents, 6F here right now at 11:52pm, and the dew point is -6F so it could get that low tonight. The weather forecasters are having real tough time trying to decide which way that big storm coming up out of the southland is going to track. One model has a blockbuster Noreaster, and the other model has a close call with only a few inches for Saturday night and Sunday.

Been too busy with other chores to get any modeling done other tan getting the train set up on the Christmas village and two trains around the tree. Every time I think I have some time, another crisis hits.

Molar Mass????? Sawyer, I never heard of that town here in Mass..LOL

DER JOHN: that was one day for the books !!!!!! I think the good Lord was giving you the POJ test. Did you pass?

Time to hit the sack, long day today, hope to see you guys again soon,

Prayers to all who are in need,

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Evenin' all!

Just a decafe, Flo.  I'll go sit in the back booth and keep warm.

About an hour ago, the temp outside was a whopping 5°F!  I was outside putting the trash and recycling out for pick up tomorrow.  "We're havin' a heat wave...... Tropical Heat Wave......"

I see Tom is heading out to actually see what snow looks like tomorrow.  Have a good time!

Rob asked..."***Ray, after that ear cleaning, did you feel dizzy? Only time I had that done, made me feel ill for a bit. Always good to hear again, huh!"

Actually I was having quite a bit of Benign Positional Vertigo that I get from time to time and it seems to be better after she cleaned out the wax in my left ear.  What usually happens is when she is doing the cleaning, it makes me want to cough.......????  Yes it IS good to get a little hearing back.  When I get some wax build up in there I begin to think I am going completely deaf.  Not a good feeling for a musician........

Packer
The stereo works

My late wife used to buy cars with that as the most important qualification......Whistling  Her Mother went and bought a 1958 Chevy monster with that as the big reason why my wife thought she should get it.  They were stuck with the monstrosity that had a major drinking problem (both gas and oil) for several years. It had a huge V-8 engine and a super slush transmission and when sat idleing, it sounded like "Glug, glug, glug, glug.................."

Got a package of goodies for my son in Chicago packed and ready to UPS it them tonight.  Then managed to spend about a half hour on the layout putting in some rail bars every 39 scale feet on the main line going over (around) Bare Mountain.  Bare Mountain is a play on words between Bare Hill on Canandaigua Lake (Old Seneca Legend) and Bald Mountain by Modeste Mussorgsky (Russian Composer).  It is the Summit of the Railroad and all trains from Hopewell Junction to any other place on the layout have to climb the summit.  I got about 4' done.  next the rail will get painted, then ballast.

I too have been wondering if Ulrich is OK....  Will keep him in my prayers.

Hope all of you have a great evening!

  "Coffee please thanks"

Jim,  Der John.. ah I am far from doing / getting anything done.   Absolutely ~ I love the Peco's.. ah but lets get to the end game here.  Concerning Electrofrog verses insulfrog.. isn't it just better to run electrofrogs in the yard?  Especially if I am planning on .. I guess they are called 'blunt' ends.. to hold maybe Diesels and Engines inside the mountain?  Just looking at those dead zones of the plastic.. it is a bit much.  I can see some Mallet 2-8-8-2 .. running slowly.. only seeing it getting stuck there.  Any of you care to add your 2 Cents?  Those Electrofrogs look more realistic too.~  Keith

Jeff, we're all with you tomorrow.

BridgeTom:

UP lowered the floors in the tunnels,
Had to do the same thing on the MT, check out  the portal footings!  It was those double stack containers that were the trouble - just like the real  thing I guess?
It then dawned on me that I hadn't lubed the little darling in over a year, so out came the tiny screwdrivers and the grease.
....come over to the Dark Side, Luke! It's even easier with diesels, even in N Scale if you have the right kit.

Goodnight all, it's a chilly one here in NS. Prayers continuing for all in need of healing, comfort, prosperity and peace.Angel

Evening Gang: Just a quick note to let you all know that we're fine. We finally got the last of the hay cut and baled last Monday. For awhile I thought we'ed be bailing Chriatmas day.

I haven't had time to do any MRRing except read GMR 2010 and MR and Trains. Tomorrow we have to haul the hay to our place from the neighbors. I guess that will shoot the morning and maybe part of the afternoon.

I'm having trouble with Verizon's VZaccess droping out again. I called the tech line and kind of lost it when I got told they couldn't help me untill I got my wife's social security no, the last four. Yea I have that right in my head. I gotta unlax.

Anyway I hope that you all are doing well. I've got an early get up, ( well early for an ORF anyway ) tomorrow.

Robby I wonder what the guy who walked off the job will say when he is asked why he left his last job?  "Ah they expected me to w**k???"

Evening Ya'll

The moment of truth with my car is almost near. The stereo works, I got the front seats from the 97 to fit into the 90, and have wired the drivers seat so the power seat actually works (the 90 seat only had power lumbar). Still have to oil the window rack, put in the power lock motors (fun, real fun), and hook up the 94 GT throttle body to the 2.3L and then put a larger air filter on. It's been awhile (a month and a half) but at least it's almost done. Then I can work on the cobra motor that it'll get after I graduate college.Cool

Sawyer, I sitll have to make a few more changes to the design then it should be good. Right now electrical pick-up is an issue, so I'm going to go and do some experimenting to hold the track in place and have it so it can be removed later. N-scale is good about being able to fit in smaller places; I just like sound too much to make the switch to N.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Sawyer:  Sounds as if you really Aced your finals, guy.  Have a GREAT Christmas break--you've certainly earned it.  Read your latest Model Railroad News article--good work!  Bow   And I really like the progress on your yard.  I look at it and kick myself in the posterior for not ever planning one out like that for my Yuba River Sub  (of course, there's always that other side of my garage, when I get myself around to it Tongue).

Thanks Tom. Hope I passed 'em, know I passed at least two, lol. Hopefully I'll get the furniture factory built over Christmas break (in fact,t his weekend). Then the yard will be pretty much complete except for trees, 2nd stage scenery and beyond etc. Sounds like you found the next yard for your layout, lol. Thanks for the compliment on the MRN article, but I read over it and I can write a HECK of a lot better article than that. Have a great Christmas break too, sounds like you've been workin your tail off w/ the choir.

J.R.- Thankyou for the suggestion. I'll do it tuesday.

Who wanted to know about curved rerailers? Bachman or LL in their cheap sets had them with the pull on electric connectors. I think I have one buried in the garage. On the stright rerailers. I have removed the brass rails and replaced them with n s rail cut to length.

Time for shower and bed

Prayers for all.

A Biker's Night Before Christmas.

'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the pad,

There was nada happenin', now that's pretty bad.

The woodstove was hung up in that stocking routine,

In hopes that the Fat Boy would soon make the scene.

With our stomachs packed with tacos and beer,

My gal and I crashed on the couch for some cheer.

When out in the yard there arose such a racket,

I ran for the door and pulled on my jacket.

I saw a large bro' on a red '52 Chief

Wearin' leathers, a cap, and boots (cool biker, man).

He hauled up the bars on that bike full of sacks,

And that Chief hit the roof like it was running on tracks.

I couldn't help gawking, the old guy had class.

But I had to go in -- I was freezing my .. Don’t ask.

Down through the stovepipe he fell with a crash,

And out of the stove he came dragging his stash.

With a smile and some glee he passed out the loot,

A new jacket for her, and some parts for my scoot.

He patted her fanny and shook my right hand,

Spun on his heel and up the stovepipe he ran.

From up on the roof came a great deal of thunder,

As that massive V-twin ripped the silence asunder.

With beard in the wind, he roared off in the night,

Shouting, "Have a cool Yule, and to all a good night!”

Evening all from Sunny/SoggyCal:

We've got a break from storms for a couple of days, and I finished Proctering my last final at Jesuit today, so I'm going to celebrate by driving up the "Hill" tomorrow and watch some winter train action in Truckee.   Interstate 80 is clear, no chains required, and there's about 4-6- feet of Sierra Cement up around Donner Pass, so I'm going to do a Winter 'thing'.   Just for the day, you understand.  But evidently, since UP lowered the floors in the tunnels, they're sending about 18-25 trains a day over the Summit now (shorter than the Feather River Canyon) and it should be some interesting train-watching.

Well, Christmas is going to be down here and not in Vancouver, this year.  My son and his wife have decided to come down here instead.  My sister and her children are all gathering, so we'll either have Christmas in Nevada City or down here at my place.  Plans are up in the air right now--typical for my family--but we'll all be together, so it should be fun.  My grand-nephew Mike has Christmas leave from the Air Force, so he'll be in from Guam and I have orders to have the railroad up and running for him.  He wanted to know if I've switched to diesel, yet.  Yah, RIGHT!!  Poor boy, I'm going to have to have another little 'talk' with him, LOL!

Right now, I'm adding some train-order signals to my stations.  They're kinda cute, by golly.  Got them from Tomar, but I had to change the LED's out to grain of rice lights so I can run them off of 1.5 volt batteries (okay, okay, so I'm STILL in the Electronic Dark Ages!  Tongue).  But I've installed one at Wagon Wheel Gap and it looks really neat!   Two more to go--Sierra City and Deer Creek.

One of my Northerns developed a 'hitch' in it's 'git-along' the other day when I was running it, and I found out that one of the rod screws had worked itself loose and was hitting the eccentric gear.  Thank God I found it before it worked itself out of the driver--THAT could have been a disaster.  A dab of Lok-Tite and a screwdriver, and she was a very happy little Northern.  It then dawned on me that I hadn't lubed the little darling in over a year, so out came the tiny screwdrivers and the grease.  One nice thing about brass--you don't need a degree in Engineering to get into them, LOL!   She's out on the layout now, getting ready for the Christmas Mail, purring like a Swiss Watch.

Jeff:  Glad that vacuum pump is working for you.  Prayers for improvement.

Well, that's it from WetCalifornia for now.  Yes, we're well AHEAD of our yearly precipitation--first time in about 3 years.  And more due in by Sunday.  Believe me, you have no idea how wonderful it is to go out on the front lawn and feel it 'squish' under your feet.

Cant wait to go play in the snow, tomorrow.  Whistling

Best to all, prayers to those in need.

Tom   Big Smile

Good evening Diners:

Santa Fe all the way posted this today in the "Multiple kit bridges" topic he started. I thought it might stir some thought / discussion here.

My layout is a shelf layout that circles the second floor of my home.
...if I'm reading that right it says second floor, not second best bedroom, or second corner of the living room! Wow!

Here's today's funny  forwarded from Kris

SAYING GOODBYE TO MOTHER...

You don't have to own a cat to appreciate this one! You don't even have to like ‘em!
We were dressed and ready to go out for the New Years Eve Party. We turned on a night light, turned the answering machine on, covered our pet parakeetand put the cat in the backyard.

We phoned the local cab company and requested a taxi. The taxi arrived and we opened the front door to leave the house. The cat we put out in the back yard, scoots back in the front door.
We didn't want the cat shut in the house because she always tries to eat the bird. My wife goes out to the taxi, while I went inside to get the cat.

The cat runs upstairs, with me in hot pursuit. Waiting in the cab, my wife doesn't want the driver to know that the house will be empty for the night. So, she explains to the taxi driver that I will be out soon, "He's just going upstairs to say Goodbye to my mother."

A few minutes later, I get into the cab. "Sorry I took so long," I said, as we drove away.

"That stupid crank was hiding under the bed. I had to poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out! She tried to take off, so I grabbed her by the neck. Then, I had to wrap her in a blanket to keep her from scratching me. But it worked! I hauled her fat *** downstairs and threw her out into the back yard!"

The cab driver hit a parked car.

The Chinese, I understand, have accurse..."May you live in interesting times!" We had an interesting day in New Glasgow. Got as far as Stellarton and turned into the local Sobeys (Supermarket) to pick up an item to add to the Christmas package we were taking to our NG friends. Came out to find the drivers side front tire flat. Changed that for the mini-tire spare with no trouble. Took the tire to the nearest tire place en route to our friends, and dropped it off for repair. Visited, and then went shopping. Last call on that list Atlantic Super store (another supermarket). Came and drove off to a horrible noise from the front end, quickly parked (had to turn a corner to do so) investigated and-you guessed it- the spare was dead flat! Went to the pay phone to get eh # for the tire place, a Goodyear store. The "Go.." page of the directory had been torn out! Went to customer Service and eventually they found their phone book. Phoned the Goodyear. No, the tire wasn't fixed, they couldn't do that because the puncture was too close to the edge of the tread to take a plug or any other repair. A new tire was the only choice - but of course we would need two. I asked why, and a dire prediction of transmission damage (it's front wheel drive) and steering loss with miss-matched treads was trotted out. I said we didn't have the budget for two tires, and would risk it. So I ordered the work, and asked if they could come up to the Superstore to deliver it. They didn't have a vehicle or driver available. How about I go to the Mazda dealer across the road from the Superstore, because they had an "Air Pig" and could re-inflate the spare. They were very obliging, and very quickly charged up their pig and carried it across to the car. Took one look and said it wouldn't re-inflate as the spare had broken the bead with the rim Banged Head. Kris phoned our friends to please come and get her, while I was taken by the Mazda people down to the Goodyear to pay for the tire and wait for Kris and our friends. Took the new tire back to the car, re-installed it and went for coffee! $111.47 we weren't expecting to have to find. On the way home there was a stray dog in the road a short way south of Stellarton, and a deer across our path as we approached Sheet Harbour...other than that, as the Klingon Commander said (will say?) on the Genesis Planet "Nothing happening here!"  The real winners in our view are the New Glasgow Mazda dealership Service department, who went out of their way to be helpful.  All this in quite sub-zero windy weather. Oh Joy!

Keith:

What do you think?  As I say that?  I'm thinking that maybe I should have roughed up the bottoms of the ties with some light sandpaper.
That can't hurt, but if you go the tape route it isn't necessary - just trying to save you workWhistling
I bought the Peco's because of the 'click' in them.
My reason too! Plus, their switch machine is good for HO and N, adapts for under track mounting or beside track. I've a caveat however. I've found that  despite the "click" the power transfer from the point to the frog isn't reliable. I now do corrective surgery before installing any Peco turnout. I hardwire from the running rail to some point behind the movable part of the closure rail with thin stranded wire. That way, I'm not relying solely on the closure rail's contact with the stock rail for power. Peco would say that isn't necessary, but my experience says otherwise. My 2 cents

Chris:

Still no ULRICH? I'm officially worried now.
I've emailed two or three times in the last couple of weeks...no reply. I hope he's not back in hospital Angel Petra isn't computer savvy apparently, so we probably wouldn't hear from her.

Todd:

Sawyer- Molar Mass? Weeeelll doggies, ain't that a fancy name. Around here we just call ‘em Mole Hills.
Dick (Greyfox) lives in Leicester , Mass - I wonder if that's near Molar, Mass? ClownJeff:
Oh yeah, I can't see very well because my eyes were dilated. It's gonna be an interesting trip to Deer Creek.
Reminds me of the bright sunshiny day with lots of laying snow when I last had my eyes dilated like that in Edmonton. Couldn't see to drive more than perhaps ¼ mile where I was able to take refuge in a church until the dilation went down enough for me to get on the road again. Hope your trip went well.(Oh, Isee it did Thumbs Up)

I'll take a large black tea and a sticky bun over to the RC. TTFN.

Jeff, good luck with your eye appointment and MRI.  My eye doctor has a machine that will examine your eyes without the dilation drops, however my medical insurance won’t cover it. L

I think you're referring to a refraction. Medicaid/Madicare/Blue Cross doesn't cover it either, so I gotta get my eye examined the old fashioned way. Bt the way, the eye check came out A-1. No problems. I have to go back in 4 months.

Well a quick stop and off to bed.  2:00am comes VERY fast!!

I'm guessing he just won't put down that he worked for FedEx.  A couple of us thought maybe it was his first job.  I did work with a guy a couple of years ago, and that was his first job EVER (warehouse).................and he was about 55 years old.  He said he lived with his mom and she passed away.  She raised him and he didn't have to work.   Nice guy thou.

I don't know guys.  With jobs still being hard to find, anything is a good job right now.

I will catch everybody in the morning.

Grilled chicken with veggies, please.

***Ray, after that ear cleaning, did you feel dizzy? Only time I had that done, made me feel ill for a bit. Always good to hear again, huh!

Respiratory Therapist came today and set up the Bipap. There is no way not to breath wearing that thing. What concerns me is how high the exhelation is set for. It was a challenge to exhale against it, and that is when I am awake. Yikes! If my eyes have popped out of there sockets during the night and I'm bloated with air come morning, I'll reset the thing myself, even if they end up taking it away.

Took the trailers down to the train room and experimented with placement. That last one is so much larger than the rest, it can only go right up front, nearest the couch. The foreshortening will work better that way.

SAWYER: WHAT in the wide, wide world of sports could be tougher than a test on mole equations???? You brought back terrible, terrible flashbacks. GEESH! Anyhow, best of luck to ya on the remaining tests. Somehow, I've got a hunch you'll do just fine. Thumbs Up

Seems i did the problems correctly, as I got a 98 on the exam. also got my World geo exam grade, made a 97. idk my grades on the other exams, hope they're just as good.

Thanks Jim. eh, I joke around about passing. Actually though, I just worry about passing. creates a stress-free environment. And I'll probably be seeing those molar mass equations next year in chemistry.......joy [:/]

Todd, gotta love chemistry junk, eh? not looking forward to taking chemistry next year; looking forward to physics. idk, forces, waves etc. have always been a point of interest for me.

Vincent, sweet that exam was easy. Looking forward to pics of the eventual rebuild of the layout! When I'm in college I'll probably be able to have a very small switching layout when I live int he dorms. Thank you N scale size!

Well, I'm off school for 2+ weeks. THANK YOU LORD!

Good Afternoon All,

Here is a link to a supply company with more casting resin and the silicone mold making compound . There is also a section for instructional videos as well. (like Keiths  but fancier).

http://www.freemansupply.com/index.htm

Got a late start again today so I've just been lurking outside the new siding but I'm done with shop stuff for now and doing some gov't w..k for the museum before I head out to the house and more w..k there. Whilst I wait for the epoxy to dry on the stone wall sections we've joined together, I'll gladly order an RBF and a foot long with chili, cheese and mustard on a toasted bun. Yum. Sure, some onion rings with that would just top it all off.

I hope Jeff got all his medical errands done - driving with dialated lenses is not fun - hope it's overcast at least today in SLA.

Flip - if you bring the DD214 to the VA, can they reenter it into the system (and anything else you have in writing)?

With any luck today the electrician got the garage lights hooked up and plugs put in the basement ceiling so I can install lights down there. W..king with a couple of Halogen spots has its' drawbacks.

Catch ya later. J.R.

Afternoon/early evenin' folks!

I should be on the NYS Thruway heading towards Rochester right now.......  Don't thoink I'm gonna make the monthly meeting tonight of the RR Hysterical Society.  Zoe how about a Turkey Fajita and a cup of decafe.  I'll go see what Barry is up to at the Rivet Counter for a bit.

I went to the ENT (allergy) doc this afternoon.  She looked in the ar that was giving me the most trouble (itching) and said, "Looks fine!"  I told her to check again as it was the ear that was itching like crazy from time to time.  She looked again and said, "Oh, I'll get that out of there for you".....  A hair was causing the problem.  Tough to be getting old, you start growing hair in places where you never knew it could grow!?!  The other ear was impacted with wax, so that was roto-rooted out with the vacuum machine.  (Ouch, ouch, ouch...)  I can hear again though.

Then I headed up to Canandaigua to feed my sisters cats.  Today the "outside" kittie was standing on the portch waiting for me to arrive.  He is still very shy of me, but hung around on the porch while I gave him a large helping of dry and canned food.  Fed the old girl in the house, who was nowhere to be found" and after I had finished, "Mr. Fluff" was appreciatively sitting on the porch washing his face and licking his chops.  I was a bit worried about him as it was a wind chill last night around zero.  He must have a warm spot to sleep in.

Did some grocery shopping and got some paper for wrapping presents and that about did in the day.  I will spend tonight getting caught up on some church stuff and wrapping some presents I guess.  may get down to the basement and the train rooms for a bit as well.

Jeffrey, glad you are feeling a bit better.  Sounds like that vacuum thingy is working.

Barry glad to hear the lake has been drained.....  We had the same situation last Winter up the street from me.  Water was pouring down the street into the storm sewer till they got it dug out and fixed.

Robby I wonder what the guy who walked off the job will say when he is asked why he left his last job?  "Ah they expected me to w**k???"

Catch you all layer!

Hey ya'll.

I dug a portable table out of the garage. It's the same brand and type as the one used for my workbench in my room. I butted them together and have started a re-construction of the prevoius layout. I'm waiting for the table to sink into the carpet so that both tables sit level. Then I'm going to use the test-track (the double tracked thing on a 1x6) I made earlier as a run-around track for the mini-layout. When it's all done I can work on something, then put it on the track right away

I did discover something about some of the metal wheelsets I use. Turns out branchline semi-scale wheelsets don't like atlas snap switches. When going over the diverging leg, the wheel on the outside stockrail wants to sink inbetween them and the point rails. Guess it's beause they are thinner than the other wheelsets I use, since they worked fine on larger turnouts.

Robby, there are times when I want to do that at work. Pretty much every day.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Barry, if it isn't a lake in your yard, it's a frozen one down the street, eh? And do you have a roundabout in your area? I musta missed that. Wink

The lake is now finito--they cleaned up the mess at that end so now I do not need to go wwwaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy over to the other side of the crescent---hence the round abouts---Whistling

Got the doctor appointment out of the way--found that my AIc is a bit high but overall not bad. So now we need to get an echogram done---Whistling

Chloe--I'll have a coffee and a bowl of chile please-----I'll be at the RC with Ray Smile,Wink, & Grin

Afternoon everybody,

Reading Robby's post about the guy who quit in the middle of the shift reminded me about a place I worked years ago. Just before I went on the fire dept., I took a temporary job as a printer's helper at a paper package manufacturer. Turned out to be a real sweat shop. Heavy on the turnover to say the least. People would start their new job, go on break in the morning and never come back. Even left their lunch a couple of times. Boy, was I glad to get out of there.

The wife and I went out for breakfast this morning and then picked up a couple of Christmas wreaths and rode out to the cemetery to put them on our families graves today. After coming home I finished up assembly of a Bowser H-21 hopper lettered for the Donora Southern. While doing that, UPS delivered an order from MB Klein with a New York Central and an Erie caboose. Nice day for me.

Have a good one...

Tom

Afternoon all...How about a nice grilled cheese with some tomaters stuffed in it please...and a big thick chocolate shake...thanks. Unbelievable...last year when I took down the outdoor xmas lights I was so lazy I just grabbed the wire cutters and cut everything and vowed to buy all new this year. Well...Everything outside is all new this year and guess what decides to start NOT working a week before xmas??...You got it...anything that needs a ladder to reach it. You think old Clark Griswold has issues??...I am determined to fix them today without fail...couple of ice cold brews before I head out should make the repairs go smoother. Tim

A true friend will not bail you out of jail...he will be sitting next to you saying "that was friggin awesome dude!" Tim...Modeling the NYC...is there any other?

Jim......He was at the job about a week or so.  He asked me last night how slow it will get after this week.  I told him, "I'm not sure".  Next thing I know, he was asking where the supervisor was.  I called on my radio, and next thing I know he was walking out.   This is a type of job where you don't have to worry about being shut down, layoffs, etc.   I agree about its a bad time to quit.  Not many jobs here in western PA.

Afternoon, Zoe - I'll have a turkey sandwich with the veggies (lettuce, tomato, red onions), mayo/miracle spread, a dill pickle 'spear' on the side, with a bowl of chili and a RBF, please. Thanks!

Garry - Amen on your comments about TV 'Then vs. Now'. And as for DCC not being perfect, I hope you weren't expecting that, right? (per Mr. Murphy...) Smile,Wink, & Grin

DerJohn, thanks for correcting my boo-boo; I'd recalled you used the AMI roadbed, but not that you weren't pleased with it. My Oops Keith - listen to the man! Yeah!!

Bama - sorry to hear your w**k time is cutting into your MRR'ing time, but hopefully after Christmas, that may even out to better proportions. That truck job should cover most of your Christmas shopping, from your description. Thumbs Up

Our area (finally...) has the H1N1 shots in, so I may go get that before I go to w**k this afternoon. Of course, it seems like the CDC/gov't. can't make up its/their minds whether my age group does or doesn't need the shot. Go figure - it has to do with the goverment and its agencies, right? SoapBox

Think I'll move along there...

NS Joe, sounds like it was 'lucky' for you, tossing the contacts when you did. Wink Maybe you have an incentive to just use your glasses?

Keith - curved rerailers? Shock Now that's something new to me. I've only seen the straight ones. You'll probably love those Pecos - our MRR club uses only them on their layout. You could get some detail parts the size of the prototypical turnout motors (wouldn't take up even as much space as a ground throw would, I'll bet).

Sawyer, I think I'd missed the whole thing about mole equations, and my mind reacted kinda like Chris' did (OHMIGOSH!! WHAT WERE THOSE??). Good that you did okey-dokey there; now you can forget about them for a long, long while like the rest of us who had that class.

Uh, Jeff, thanks - for not posting pics of that vaccuum at w**k... Smile,Wink, & Grin Best wishes on your medical appointments today. Angel

Barry, if it isn't a lake in your yard, it's a frozen one down the street, eh? And do you have a roundabout in your area? I musta missed that. Wink

Todd, yeah, people sometimes don't realize that we MRR'ers have other priorities than they do... Whistling

Robby, was your guy that quit at w**k new to the job, or whaddya think made him/her do that? Not a great time of year to be quitting any job, I would think. Hope that didn't make things too unbearable for the rest of you on that shift.

Jerry, hope your doctor's trip doesn't wear you out and you have energy enough for the MRR'ing.

Rob - maybe if your barn chores take long enough, your wife'll decide to go see about the in-laws' stuff without you? Whistling (Did I say that out loud?)

Flip, were your records some of those that were stored in the St. Louis area records center? I recall hearing about that fire when it happened (many years ago - it was before I even got married, I think). Hey, I got an offer from USAA about insurance and all with them (auto, property, credit card, I think it was). Anyone know how good their coverages are (or aren't)?

Ulrich - where are you, mein Freund? We may have to get out the bloodhounds if we don't hear from him soon.

Got an early Christmas present yesterday in the mail. Once I get to building it, I'll post pics. I'll describe it as "Ol' King Coal"...Wink

About time for me to do the 'w' thing (may go by first to see if the agency is covering part of the swine flu shot or not, that could cut the cost down). I didn't have any calls out last night (plus side of colder weather, sorta - fewer calls out when on-call), just woke up once in the night.

Prayers for better health and good doctors' visits for those doing that, and for any other issues you may be dealing with.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

I got the eye appointment overwith. It went a lot quicker than I thought i would. In the Alexandria office it always took at least a couple of hours. Now I have to wait until about 3 to go in for my MRI. Oh yeah, I camn't see very well because my eyes were dilated. It's gonna be an interesting trip to Deer Creek.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have a raspberry danish and a pot of dark roast coffee to start my day.  What?  Oh didn't I say R&GV Mug......?  I'll go see what is going on over at the Rivet Counter.  Barry is telling a story about a new lake on his street or somethin'.....Whistling

Currently 17°F outside my door this morning here in the Finger Lakes.  The high is supposed to be a pleasant 19°F under partly cloudy skies.  In fact every now and then some little flakes of partly cloudy go floating by my windows......

Going to be a busy day today.  I have to go to Canandaigua to feed my sisters cats and I have to pick a couple pair of dress pants I bought in a small shop there last week.  Every 6 or 7 years I seem to have to something like that as the old ones just wear out so quickly......Whistling  Have to see my allergist today as well to get my ears vacuumed out.  Doesn't THAT sound like fun?  Then maybe go to the Hysterical Society meeting in Rochester tonight.

I best get going.  Today appears to be almost half over and I've not even had my morning shower yet!

Coffee TO GO, please.

Plan on getting in the train room today, unless the wife forces me  to help her pack up the folks for the coming Last Big Move. Off to do barn chores now..

Hope everyone is doing well.
