Mornin' everyone!

Chloe I'll have the #2 Special this morning.  Over easy on the eggs, bacon, homefries, and a double order of Sourdough toast if you please.  I'll go sit in the front booth and see what's going on out there today.

Todd, is that the Woodland Scenics Still?  That is a fun little project.  I have one stuck up on the hillside on my layout.

Jeffrey your clouds are looking very nice!

Lee you will enjoy your electric bills after getting the energy star.  The difference for me upgrading from a 20 year old fridge a year and a half ago is about 80 KWs per month.  Saves me about $11 a month.

Barry, please keep your 60% over where you are, we have the other 40% here today.  Don't need any more. Wink

It is a pleasant 65°F here in the Finger Lakes this morning.  That is also the high for the day.  Air conditioners remain off!Whistling  The sun is shining though.....  No, now it is clouldy.....  Oh there is the sun.  Opps!  There was the sun....  Looks like we may get some of the 40% I mentioned earlier.

I have a couple layout projects going on, so I'll finish breakfast and be on my way.  Hope you all have a blessed day!

Mornin, just popped in before Church. Sunny and a high of 69 F today right now it's 57.

I was playing with the camera last night to try and get it to take some decent pictures of small stuff. I just couldn't get it to do it. After who knows how many pictures these were the best two believe it or not. This is why I prefer an SLR camera.

I have so much trouble focusing on something small such as my still with an auto focus non SLR or whatever they are called. It always focuses on something else in the photo and in that little view screen they all look out of fucus or dark or something. If I  look through the view finder then of course the picture isn't centered with the lense and all. I guess I just won't take pictures until I can get a decent camera or figure this one out. That and the fact the instructions are no longer findable.

I need to get rid of that red wall. It would probably help with the picture color also

Have a Great Day!

 Good morning.

It's 72 and foggy. The high will be around 90 and there's a chance of rain.

I busied myself yesterday moving some structures around, doing some work on the structure lighting and making clouds above the new background. The stencils certainly make it easier to make convincing clouds. On the structure movements, the lumber mill that was next to the north engine house is now at the back of the layout. A freight station is now next to the north engine house. The foundry has been moved back to it's position near the north engine house. The spot previously occupied by the foundry is now occupied by the Seymour Block, the Ace Hardware building and the machine shop.

Today's Weather for:

pc- if I knew how to copy and paste I wouldn't have asked. Thanks for the info where I can get it.

No problem!

How To Copy and Paste:
Take your mouse, and place your cursor at the beginning of the text in the box below, then click and hold the left mouse button, while pulling your mouse over the text. This should highlight the text. Now release the left mouse button. Now, with the cursor over the highlighted text, right click the mouse for options, and select 'copy'. Now over the empty box below, right click your mouse again, and select 'paste' and you will have copied and pasted the text. :-)

 Milk, Chloe.

just stopping in for a quick drink. Found out that my family might be running the church's games for the harvest festival. Needless to say, the game section was slowly going downhill. They used a ticket system in which, in the hands of a two year old,  one game ticket can yield five tickets, and a med. prize was five tickets. With new-found knowledge from the benefit, (Which by the way we raised $14,800 for my cousin) We might be able to overhaul this carnival.

See yall!

Day, night, wet, dry, light, dark, space the final frontier. New digs again, do we need to upgrade from the 44 tonner? Been beavering away in the house doing the staining and sealing plus the punch list from the first walkthrough by the building inspector. Silly stuff is all we needed like a railing for the porch railing (really) and elimanation of gaps more than 4" between steps outside (of course code mandates 7" between steps) but you get the drift.)  Not too far away from getting a CO (certificate of occupancy for those of you not familiar with legalese) so we can move back into our house. Did a hill climb last weekend but other than that it's been either the shop or the house for me. No video this year as we tried a new camera that didn't work out but I ended up second overall with my Lotus 7. The advantage of a hill climb is that the CFO and I were able to take care of 4 other cars and I still got to run mine.

Oh yeah trains? I did end up communing with the remnants of my layout while rifling through the storage shed (future site of the next layout). And I need to do some research on Hoosic Falls, NY as there is a great sectio of track through there including a fairly busy section of bridge over a river. Very scenic and the overall effect is one of a branch line that would be doable on a layout without too much agita.

Think I'll take my RBF to a back booth and hang for a while.   J.R.

Ohmigosh! Shock Todd, you mean, your son brought the charger back? Flo, better bring me the smelling salts, I think I'm about to keel over....Laugh

Um, no not exactly brought it back. He left it at his grandma's house in Springfield when he was there. So I'm relieved it wasn't too much trouble for him to return it as he lives in Springfield also. Nice, borrow something then tell them they can drive 25 miles (round trip but still....) to get it back. Hey, at least she got it back and it still worked. I checked on replacing it because I figured he'd destroy it and then proceed to tell how it wasn't his fault, it was junk etc therefore he doesn't have to replace it. A charger cost $50!!!!!!!!  Part 2 of story I just learned over an absolutely delicious chicken pot pie. Turns out she got it back Thursday night and charged the battery yesterday to see if it worked I guess before telling me. She knew what I'd say, I'm sure, if it didn't work. She nonchalantly mentioned, "I've had it for a while. I got it from Mom's the last time I was over there. I charged the battery. It's ready to go." I said "you mean day before yesterday." "yeah I guess" " I hope he wasn't to put out." Then, a little smart dude on my shoulder told me to change the subject before I crossed THAT line. " This pot pie is delicious" she smiled and I live.

Since Jim polished off the Ribs I brought in some pot pie. Sorry you'll have to add your own hot sauce. Spicy is not her bag man.

I thought Chillin' was like kickin' back and relaxing. Hm. I guess my kids got away with more than I thought.Grumpy

Sign - Off Topic!!

Though this says it's from the Dallas Morning News, I don't know that for sure.

From my long-time friend Marj, for those who are in their 40's, may get to be in their 40's, or fondly remember their 40's...

[Edit] ...and it looks like you get dinner on me, to go with the story...

Dallas Morning News

David McClure of McKinney : A senior moment ... at 48?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

David McClure teaches science and coaches at Faubion
Middle School in McKinney . He is also a Teacher
Voices volunteer columnist.

"$5.37."

That's what the kid behind the counter at Taco Bueno said to me.
I dug into my pocket and pulled out some lint and two dimes and
something that used to be a Jolly Rancher.

Having already handed the kid a five-spot, I started to head back
out to the truck to grab some change when the kid with the Emo
hairdo said the harshest thing anyone has ever said to me.

He said, "It's OK. I'll just give you the senior citizen discount."

I turned to see who he was talking to and then heard the sound
of change hitting the counter in front of me.

"Only $4.68" he said cheerfully.

I stood there stupefied. I am 48, not even 50 yet a mere child!
Senior citizen? I took my burrito and walked out to the truck,
wondering what was wrong with Emo. Was he blind?

As I sat in the truck, my blood began to boil. Old? Me?
I'll show him, I thought. I opened the door and
headed back inside. I strode to the counter, and there
he was waiting with a smile. Before I could say a word,
he held up something and jingled it in front of me, like
I could be that easily distracted! What am I now? A toddler?

"Dude! Can't get too far without your car keys, eh?"

I stared with utter disdain at the keys. I began to
rationalize in my mind. "Leaving keys behind
hardly makes a man elderly! It could happen
to anyone!" I turned and headed back to the truck.

I slipped the key into the ignition, but it wouldn't turn.
What now? I checked my keys and tried another. Still
nothing. That's when I noticed the purple beads
hanging from my rearview mirror. I had no purple
beads hanging from my rearview mirror. Then, a few
other objects came into focus: The car-seat in the
back seat; Happy Meal toys spread all over the
floorboard, a partially eaten doughnut on the
dashboard. Faster than you can say ginkgo biloba,
I flew out of the alien vehicle.

Moments later I was speeding out of the parking lot,
relieved to finally be leaving this nightmarish stop
in my life. That is when I felt it, deep in the bowels of my stomach:
Hunger! My stomach growled and churned, and I reached
to grab my burrito, only it was nowhere to be found. I swung
the truck around, gathered my courage, and strode back
into the restaurant one final time. There Emo stood,
draped in youth and black nail polish.

All I could think was, "What is the world coming to?"
All I could say was, "Did I leave my food and drink in here?"
At this point I was ready to ask a Boy Scout to help me back
to my vehicle, and then go straight home and apply for Social
Security benefits. Emo had no clue.

I walked back out to the truck, and suddenly a young lad
came up and tugged on my jeans to get my attention. He
was holding up a drink and a bag. His mother explained,
"I think you left this in my truck by mistake." I took the food
and drink from the little boy and sheepishly apologized.
She offered these kind words:

"It's OK. My grandfather does stuff like this all the time."

All of this is to explain how I got a ticket doing 85 in a 40 mph zone.
Yes, I was racing some punk kid in a Toyota Prius. And no, I told the
officer, I'm not too old to be driving this fast. As I walked in the front
door, my wife met me halfway down the hall. I handed her a bag
of cold food and a $300 speeding ticket. I promptly sat in my
rocking chair and covered up my legs with a blanky.
The good news was I had successfully found my way home.

Evening, Flo - how about some of those ribs that Bama brought in last night - yeah, you can even nuke them or warm 'em in the oven, cause from the smell of them last night, they'll be yummy however they get warmed up! Oh yes, and a RBF and some fries with them, please. Thanks! Dinner

WCU Guy, sorry to hear about the circumstances of your needing to move, but at least you've been planning for a future layout after you get moved. Sometimes you work around the bumps in the road of life. Keep at it, and stop by the Diner again when you get the time. Yeah!!

PC, that was a good post. I had similar 'invisibility' when I was riding my bicycle a few years back in town, and I'm 6'3" without sitting up on the bike seat. Shock

Jerry, I think I'm gonna add prayers for your chair, your chair's tire, and the guys fixing either one! You have had a doozy of a week, all right...Wow!! Gotta get better from here, I would hope!

Flip, you know you can come in here more often, right? Smile,Wink, & Grin Hope you and Deb have been taking care of yourselves this summer. I know your area can get just as bad of weather as Jeff does at times.

I appreciate all these nifty bikes (and neat photos) that you guys are posting, but cold and rainy weather (or both) are the two reasons I just never got interested in motorcycles. I also like my roller skates with two *pairs* of wheels in a row, rather than inline. Cool

So far, today has been very good - not a peep or a shake out of the gizmo on my belt. No news is good news, as they say. Now, to get through the night the same way...

Hoping to get back to the layout tomorrow afternoon. Still trying to figure where I had all those cars before they went on the layout...Confused Well, guess I'll find someplace to put them then.

Got a good chuckle from one email my long-time friend Marj (in Northern Illinois - Joliet area) sent me, but I'll post it separately.

Ohmigosh! Shock Todd, you mean, your son brought the charger back? Flo, better bring me the smelling salts, I think I'm about to keel over....Laugh

Blessings and prayers,

The charger is.............. back!

Jim- It's not necessarily what the SLR can do as much as I just like looking through the lens as apposed to the side thing. Just a preference.

PC- Many of my buddies ride bikes including my best friend. I am keenly aware of and agree with what was written. By the way, he has the leather the bandana the Harley and the hair halfway down his back (length, not hair on his backLaughLaugh (hoo wee laughing too hard)) and the nicest guy you'd ever meet.

Ooo, the supper bell has been rung. Dinner TTFN and awaaaaaay we go!

Coffee refill, please.

The first bike I ever road was an Indian. No, not the cool kind. It was one of those tiny putt-putt machines that burns the cra* out of your leg after crashing it into a rabbit hole a coyote had previously dug out.Laugh I don't remember how old I was, but in spite of the painful leg burn I tried unsuccessfully hiding from my parents when I got home, I was forever hooked.

PC Mine is an 1800cc and they don’t make the Valkyire anymore as it was the 1500cc engine with some factory mods and then what ever the rider did to it as well. I did ride one and didn’t care for it much, but the looks was nice. I really do like the looks of the Drifter though with the fender flares that bring back the OLD look of the Harley’s and Indians. It amazes me the stupid things people do while driving today.
Yup,you got that right but if you were to talk to them, they would tell you how safe and careful they drive. Hey,a Moped is a start. I started to take flying lessons right out of high school but went into the Air Force and never finished. I have always wanted to start again but the cost now is more than I can afford and being on two wheels is the next best thing to flying. The CFO has said that I could start again but I would have to give up other things and one of them couldn’t be her.LaughWhistling

Afternoon folks!

We had a line of nasty, "Severe Thunderstorms" pass through the area an hour ago.  Wasn't too bad here but we got a good downpour.  So far the "Ditch in the road..." across the street seems to be w**king well.

And Ray,the two bikers taking up two lanes were wrong. They both should have been in one lane and there probably wouldn’t have been such a close call. Experience and common sense helps an awful lot when on two wheels.

Absolutely!  It amazes me the stupid things people do while driving today.  Nice wheels BTW!  The only motorcycle experience I personally have was riding my youngest son's class B moped around the year he studied in England.......Whistling  I did enjoy putting around town with it and riding it to school when the weather was nice.  The man who "brought me to the Lord" was my pastor in Waverly, NY when I first started teaching.  He rode a Honda 950 and borrowed a friend's Harley Hog once in a while.  He also lost an eye in an accident in college so he rode with a patch, his "tough" looking leather jacket, and was usually smoking a big cigar at the same time........  He could scare the crap out of most anyone!  He also was a licensed pilot and flew a Cessna.  Just a bit of a character you might say.

Thats very true!  In Indiana two riders can legally ride abreast if both agree.  In other states one has to trail the other.

That is the bike my wife wanted me to get!  They are definately sweet!  I go for a bit more "classic" styling though.  Because of that, I very nearly bought a Valkyrie Interstate.  Same bike as the Goldwing, with more classic styling.  I'll tell ya what though......that bike sure is a looker!

PC If people would slow down it would really help things out,not only for those of us that ride on two wheels but those in 4-wheelers as well. And Ray,the two bikers taking up two lanes were wrong.
