Good Morning

We's be getting some more showers today, tomorrow, tuesday---etc etc etcSigh with highs stuck in the low 20's

RAY: Or anyone else for this matter---can anyone explain this to this little one?

Like--how'd this get so weathered that the wood is showing? Oh, BTW, this is at Palmerston ON-on a 2-6-0 switcher

 Good morning.

It's 68 (coolest it's been in a while) and partly cloudy. The high will be in the upper 80's and it will be partly cloudy.

There was a really heavy rain in Leesville yesterday but not a drop out here. We did however benefit from it as the temperature dropped significantly with the outdoor temp being under 80. This is almost unheard of for July. My sister and her family returned home last night from their trip to north-west Texas. For me this means I don't have to go over to feed their pets anymore. What a relief. My mother's health continues to improve. A couple of weeks ago it took her 5 to 6 seconds to cover the measured yard (36"). Now she can cover that distance in less than half the time. Also she's gone shopping for clothes twice in 3 days. This is a good sign. Now if she could get to the point of being able to prepare her own meals I could get back to my normal life, such as it is.

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA  71446-6114      7/19/2009

Wind Chill:  68°F
Humidity:  96%
Dew Point:  67°F

So Far Today
High:  70°F
Low:  68°F
Rain:  0.01"
Rain Rate:  0.00"/h
Gust:  0mph NNE

Today  High: 92    Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 90s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight  Low: 68    Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the upper 60s. East winds around 5 mph.

 Good Morning Everybody,

Flo, just a coffee,  please, too early for an RBF... Smile

Day 2 of a wet weekend and again no steaming in the garden. My son has come for the weekend, but I hardly see him. It is either doing some studying for the upcoming end-of-term exams, or hanging out with the old pals. Why do I feel so old all of a sudden?

Barry - nice shots! Have saved them on my ´puter as a reference should I model a grain elevator. Btw, how does grain come to Alaska? Is their a grain elevator at, let´s say, Seward? Should I add one on my layout?

Rob - take care of your health - it´s not yet time for the final "all aboard" call, so don´t play with it!

Robby P.  - will we see a pic of a caboose weathered and detailed by you, just like the ones on your pictures? Talking of weathering, how about a clinic for us in a central location (i.e. Hamburg, and I´ll throw in a visit to "Miniatur Wunderland!)?

Chris - I live in Smalltown/Germany, population 25,000. We have a police station staffed by 4 coppers - but only during the day. 2 of them drive around in their brand new Mercedes (takes them 20 minutes to cover the town) and then hang around at our cafe or burger place. 2 of them remain at the station, reading a newspaper, playing cards. Not much going on here - maybe a chicken run over by a car, maybe a lost wallet... Big Smile. 18.00 hrs sharp, they lock up the station and that´s it until 8 o´clock in the morning. No patrolling, no cop in sight... Should something happen and you ring 1-1-0 (that´s our 9-11), the cops may come all the way from Luneburg (not Lunenburg in Nova Scotia), which is just 50 miles away... Big Smile Don´t get me wrong, there is a lot of crime, but usually, these things happen at night, not during the day. We don´t need daytime coppers and nighttime sleepers... Smile,Wink, & Grin

Jim - keep us posted with that background warehouse...

Johnboy - so I have passed the test?

Have a good day, all of you!

Evening, Janie - I'll just have a Santa Fe mug of decaf and a hot fudge sundae (want to just drop off nice an' easy tonight...) Zzz

Chris - it might be worth a look at Champ(ion) Decals. Although they say they're trying to wind down, they still have a lot of their decals left and the website is (probably 99 percent) up to date for online ordering. My decals I got in today I had ordered over last weekend (I think it was), so they made pretty good time getting here. That's weird about filling up the tanker lowering it enough to clear the door...Confused

Inch, I got my W-S Tie and Plank Mill kit out this evening and looked at it. That's gonna be a lot of detail w**k (trimming flash from the metal castings, painting all the stuff, etc. It's almost as much w**k as a craftsman kit (and probably less than some of the newer craftsman kits)! Should be very nice-looking once you or I get done with it, though. A lot of detail castings in that kit, plus trees, logs, planks, sawdust for a pile, etc. Wow!!

Ray, at least after your day today, handling the caboose tomorrow will seem like nothing to you, I bet! Better have a second RBF for your energy. Yeah!!

Aw, Barry - there ya go, getting all artsy-smartsy on us, with that shot up the middle of the elevator (or wherever that one was taken from). Smile,Wink, & Grin Looks like you had some fun out there today! Thumbs Up

Ulrich, not to worry about what Johnboy said - we'll treat you like one of our own, regardless of how many RBF's you have each day. Wink But yeah, you fit in real well with this crew (Hey, wait! - Did I just compliment, or insult Ulrich?...)Whistling

Besides taking a look at the W-S Tie and Plank Mill, I also started putting together my background warehouse (the DPM one) and the first/second phase of my 'grouting' (if you can call it that). Here's the right half of the wall (before the 'grouting'):

and here's 'Stage 2', after applying the 'grout' (but before I rub most of the extra 'grout' off. Either that, or I might decide to add more and make it a stucco-ed walls on it):

(Don't look too closely at those pics...) I'm just starting on the wall at this stage - I plan to have some variation in the basic 'brick' color (some darker, for example) by the time I call it 'done'.

Rob, don't fool around - get yourself to the doctor on Monday, okay? It doesn't sound like your symptoms are improving on their own, and may be sliding a bit instead. Do get it checked out, so you can get back to fiddlin' with your wife's (or your own) structures. Yeah!!

About time for me to finish up my sundae and coffee, and mosey on home. I'll see you all tomorrow!

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

I'll have a tall glass of cool lemon water, please.

Wife wants to drag me to the Docs next week to get checked out. I think I already feel better so won't have to go.Whistling OK, if I'm still dizzy come monday, I'll probably go. One of my ears has developed some soreness and swelling, "and it ain't from wrastling".

Brought in some of the wife's HO "fixer-uppers" to start work on. No progress to report on though.

Have a good night all.

Hey all. Just dropping in before I hit the hay.

I was out last night until midnight drag racing. I cracked out some really low RTs while I was at it, a 0.1769, a 0.0488, and a 0.0048. IMO, 48/10,000ths of a second is pretty darned good, even for deep staging (rolling turning off the pre-stage light).

The worst part of staying out til 12 was that I only got a few hours sleep since I had to be to work at 7. I figure I can make up for it by going to bed early tonight.

Barry, nice shots of all the grain facilities.

Robby, nice catch on the cabeese. I have a few pictures laying around of a few CSX cabeese, except one was still in the seaboard paint. IIRC, there was one in Cheesie paint near it. In that same area I found a BN caboose several months later.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

JEFF: Looks like Company No. 6 had best keep the tank FULL on that black over red engine...I don't think she'll clear the door with anything less! Prairieburg discovered that when they got a new 2800 gal. tanker back in the mid 90s. It was empty the first time they went to back it into the station...and was too tall. I think they knocked the lightbar off. So, they filled it, put the lightbar in a lower, less-visible location Confused and it cleared with an inch or two to spare.

I hear you on that! Sundown VFD's pumper truck stands 10' 1" tall and the bay doors are 10' 3" tall. With a 1,000 gallons of water on board the truck squats an additional inch.

Afternoon everyone!

Just got home from 4 hours of w**k at the museum.  We were picking up scrap iron to fill up a 30 yard dumpster to sell to a local scrapper.  Hopefully put a little $ back in to our treasury.  So we had everything from the forklift to the backhoe and bucket loader, to an old Army Semi Tractor up and running to pull an aged old flatbed trailer that must have had at least 50 tons of iron scarp loaded on it out for recycling.  I told them to scrap the old flat bed as well.  It has definitely seen better days.......  I was amazed that it held together to get it down the dirt road to where we are handling the scrap.  All this is to make room for the rest of our new siding which will hold the restored Empire State Express cars.

Zoe since Chris has the top of the page, I'll have a RBF to gain back some strength after a busy day.....

I have to be back out there early tomorrow to work train crew for the day.  I will be a car host on one of the cabooses.  I always enjoy that!

I guess I'll check out the new "water" I poured last night and see if it set well.  I am using Envirotex Lite over some woodland Scenics "water" that never did really set up like it should have and has collected lots of dust over the past 3 years.  The envirotex will set to a very hard glossy finish that can be cleaned when necessary.  Also want to get going on a few more details that need to be done before I have the "judged" here to do a merit judging for me.  Getting close though.....

Good afternoon, ladies? a double cheeseburger with fries and a Coke please 'n thankyou while I sit at the RC and get caught up (again).

RAY: Good point about Adolf's termination...hadn't thought of that. I think having 80+% of the townfolk standing around with the pitchforks and torches may have helped him to make up his mind. Our Mayor canned the previous cop too. That one was easy to get along with, and did a good job. His muck-up? He was busting people living in Hizzonnor's rental properties! There were suggestions of drug dealing. I suspect at some point, the properties could've been confiscated. Goodbye rental income...so goodbye Officer!

JIM: West Branch axed Adolf...so did Mechanicsville. Both towns are here in Cedar County (it ain't a big county). Mechanicsville guys have told us "we tried to warn your council, don't hire this guy!"

Good thing: Adolf is history. The part-time cops are taking up the slack...supposedly. Bad thing: Our County Sheriff does NOT want to contract with the city to patrol here. County will respond if called, they just won't be driving around town before-hand. So...when seconds count, the fuzz is minutes away. Time to buy an arsenal... a street sweeper would be a good start... Whistling

ULRICH: Hey Pal, yet another track plan for me to file in the "layout ideas file!" Thumbs Up THANKS! Have a struedel, or RBF, or...whatever and tell the lady to put it on my tab...the expense account with THAT editor.

In the modeling arena, I'm on-hold with a CCP caboose, trying to find the decals for it. There USED to be a small maker which had 'em. They're apparently defunct now. This will make two projects dead on the rail for lack of decals. The other is a converted Athearn grain hopper, now resembling a Portec used by XTRA leasing. Islington Station Decals had the set... can't find it anywhere. I've even been trying "theBay" for about 2 years now.

So...with the caboose dead on the rail, I'm back to the 41' CNW gon I started earlier this year. I've finally bit the bullet and decided to go ahead and try to make the 40 teeny tiny little styrene triangles I need for gussets on the sides. Thankfully, this thing will be black, so the minor differences from gusset to gusset hopefully won't be as noticible. A NWSL "Chopper" would probably do me a more uniform job than what I'm achieving with an Xacto and scale rule in trying to make 6"x6" triangles out of 1' squares. But, such an apparatus is NOT in the current budget.

I'll hang out at the RC for awhile, see who else makes it in today...

Afternoon, Flo - I'll have a bacon cheeseburger with the w**ks and a RBF, please. Thanks!

I'd written a post and had it almost done, just had to upload 2 photos to my Photobucket account, and when I came back to the counter, someone had cleared the thing off (including the napkins with my notes on them) - aaauuuuggghhh!!! Banged HeadSigh

Just feeling a bit disgusted at the moment, so I guess I'll try later to respond to various posts. Had saved Ulrich's design (for future reference), thanked Ray for the explanation on the GE 80 tonner, told Inch I couldn't decide whether to laugh or sigh about his 'New Alphabet' poem, and I probably won't recall all of what I had written to say, anyway.

I did get some (sorta) 'railfanning' this morning - went by our closest RR crossing and tracks here:

It's by our riverwall, and I think UP has the track, but BNSF gets to use it to get to their line south of town. Here's the back (wet) side of the riverwall:

When I came back from the river side of the wall, I almost got a photo of some motive power... but by the time I'd turned on the camera and tried to focus on it, the BNSF 'utility truck' was heading around a bend in the tracks and was a mere dot on the screen. I won't post that shot...

Got some more photos of some really neat murals that are around Cape, and I'll post a link to them in here later today for those who might be interested.

I received my decals order from Champ(ion) Decals today - ones for my ATSF gondola (which I need to paint, hopefully today), my ore cars (dimensional data), some for my D&RGW cabeese, and some for my (steam and diesel) locos. Guess I ordered more than I'd realized, but hey, I'm doing my part to stimulate the economy of Minot, North Dakota, right? Wink

I'm just gonna chill out at the RC for now, before somebody cleans the counter off again and I lose this post...

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Mornin, any of that Strudel left? Great, I'll have a piece and some coffee please. I don't know what I'll do today. Yardwork and what else ? Who knows. Eat I suppose.

I stopped by WPF on the way here this morn, Outstanding guys, just outstanding!

Rob- It doesn't sound as if your E-seller was that good. Is he sorta new at this? At least he's making it good, I hope he follows through

Luckily I've only had one issue with an E-seller on the bay and it really wasn't anything I couldn't fix easily. It was just a misunderstanding of what the term "Vintage" meant. Apparently they use it to represent an exception from the term "Excellent condition". After conversing with this business, they left me with the impression it was my misunderstanding and that by them using the term "Vintage" I should have expected some damage or repairs, even if they were shoddy repairs and sorry they didn‘t show up in the pictures, but they try to get the best photos of their items. Sometimes it may not show all the defects but you can always ask if the picture represents the item well before bidding. Soooo, I've learned that , at least from some people, a "Vintage whatever in Excellent condition" really means " Older item that we really don't know if it is old, but it looks like it could be, is in excellent condition, we think, for having fallen off the top shelf, kinda stuck back together with some Elmer's glue with no attention to orientation or correct reassembly, and you should expect to have to reassemble or repair item." I feel relieved that I now know this.

(streeeeeetch) Well I guess I better get a move on.

Have a Great Day!

Mornin, just quick stop right now, so an irish coffee ta-go Janie. Temps got down to 56 here, so no new record this morning. Tomorrows forecast low is 50, that be a new one if it makes it.

OLD ALPHABET

A is for apple, and B is for boat. That use to be right, but now it won't float!!!

Age before beauty is what we once said, but let's be more realistic instead.

NOW NEW THE ALPHABET:

A's for arthritis,

B's forbad back,

C's for the chest pains, Perhaps car-d-iac??

D's is for dental decay and decline,

E's is for eyesight, can't read the top line,

F, is for fissures and fluid retention,

G, is for gas I'd rather not mention,

H, is high blood pressure-I'd rather it low,

I, for incision with scares to show,

J, is for joints, out of sockets, won't mend,

K is for knees that crack when they bend,

L, for libido, what happened to sex?

M, is for memory, I forgot what comes next,

N, is neuralgia, in nerves way gown low,

O, is for osteo, bones that won't grow!

P, for prescriptions, I have quite a few. Just give me a pill and I'm good as new!

Q, is for queasy, is it fatal or flue?

R, is for reflux, one meal turns to two,

T, is for Tinnitus; bells in my ears

U,, is for urinary; troubles with flow.

V,, is for vertigo, that dizzy, you know,

W's for worry, now what going round?

X, is for xray, and what might be found.

Y, is for another year I'm left here behind, is zest I still have at least in my mind.

I've survived all the symptoms, my body's deployed, and I'm keeping 26 doctors fully employed.

HAVE A GREAT DAY

PC, I noticed on the news tonight that there's a biker rally/conference/whatever near here - I think it's in either Southern Illinois or western Kentucky. Of course, it might be a bit of a ride, depending on your weather between there and the location here.

Gonna have to pass.  I teach twice this weekend, so I'm kinda spoken for already.

No layout work yesterday to speak of. At least we've gotten a little relief on the weather front. A line of thunderstorms came through the other night and dumped 2" of rain on us. No rain to speak of yesterday but there's a chance for rain today. Maybe we'll get a break from the heat.

Weather is back to normal, i.e. cloudy, with the odd spell of rain, temperature around 20 C. I had planned to steam up my little "steamy" in the garden, but it is too wet for that. Time to spend at the drawing board, still in search of my "dream" layout.

First thoughts:

It is a mix of ideas and inspirations I have been collecting over the last days - starting with Bob Smaus´ Port of Los Angeles and some "gawd, where did I see that" - ideas.

Have a good day!

Good late evening y'all.  Still no word on the job market.  I had an interview with Lowe's and did a drug test with them, so I hope that it'll come through.  Yes, the CSX trackworker job is a physical job, but I don't mind working, never have.  My daughter, Heather, and I went railfanning yesterday.  Montgomery, AL, (my hometown, also where Amy's OB is) has a pretty nice little park that overlooks three different subs as they come into Montgomery's S&N (south and north) yard, along with Chester yard, so we went there and caught a train within about 15 minutes of being there.

Unfortunately, our time got cut short there because Amy finished up her doc's appointment and we had to head back there to get her.  Right now I've got the house to myself as Amy is up in Birmingham with her cousin (cousin's boyfriend had a 4-wheeler accident and shattered his knee and dislocated his leg, pretty badly banged up, worried about him loosing his foot due to poor circulation).  Since I'll be working on the house tomorrow and won't be able to really watch Heather, she's spending the night at a friend's house.  So I'm enjoying the peace and quiet, and staying up late too!

I'll just have a RBF and a bowl of vanilla ice cream with a little hot fudge over the top of it.  Went to our local Chinese buffet tonight for dinner and got my "fix", so I'm good except for my incessant sweet tooth.  I'll probably be in here for a little while, catching up mostly, but I know that I'll be heading off to bed soon so I can get up early and make my way up to the house and our land to work (gotta get the bathroom sink drain finished up and get the new pad for the new central a/c unit poured....geee, I love remodelling!).

Jeffrey - I think a lot of us know and appreciate what your going through. There were a couple of years when my wife and I were responsible for both of my my parents as well as her mother and her brother, who were both blind. That meant taking care of my house, my parents place and my brother-in-laws house. Nobody lived all that close either. Nobody drove so we had to provide transportation too. With the passage of time, we then had to deal with hospitals, nursing homes, care givers, etc. We had little time for ourselves. But the worst part of it was feeling so unprepared. We did get through it however, and I'm sure you will too. Just keep smiling and putting one foot in front of the other.

I'm hoping to get in some railfanning on Sunday. We will probably head for the Strip District in Pittsburgh. Sunday is a good day to catch Amtrak and the Allegheny Valley using Norfolk Southern's Pittsburgh Line. Then maybe up to Rook Yard to see if the Wheeling & Lake Erie is doing anything. On the way home, I'll go through McKees Rocks to see what's sitting in Pittsburgh & Ohio Central's yard. Traffic seems to be really slow on the CSX line, so I don't think I'll waste time hoping to catch something there.

Have a nice weekend everybody.

Slice of Key Lime Pie, "not thrown", please and thanks.Dinner

Good news is that e-seller is sending the correct autos, the replacement parts for those broken/melted on the IRS model, and finally said to just keep the first cars sent in error. That is good after-the-sale customer service. Whew!

Wife & I spent some time making decisions on her layout. To save $$$, she now wants me to paint that IRS building and turn it into her Hospital, instead of the WS Municipal building. Whatever she wants is what I shall do. She also didn't want to disturb her Circus Parade Route with a building on fire. Sooo, IF the smoker works, I'll "borrow it" for my future vulcano.Whistling

Have a good night all.

Ray - who makes that 80 tonner? I know the 44 tonner is GE (as is the 70 tonner, right?), but don't know if I've ever seen an 80 ton diesel. I'll look forward to seeing the photos.

The 80 Tonner is also a GE.  She is an ex-US Army switcher.  Right now she only works with one of her prime movers and half her traction motors.  She can still pull a caboose up the grade so she is used a lot in service.  The plan is to someday get her back working on all 4 traction motors and both prime movers.  You can read about her here: http://rgvrrm.org/about/railroad/rgv1654/index.htm

Hope all of you have a great evening!

Good (Friday!) Evening, Zoe - how about a BLT and a RBF please, 'n' thank you!

Our weather today was great - only reached the lower-to-mid 80's F, and the humidity's down. I turned off the A/C when I got home and opened the windows; just let the fans move some of the air through. Ahhh...Big Smile We're at 74 F (23 C) at 8 p.m. (and the sun's just going down about now), so I think the temp'll drop into the 50's (F) overnight. Sweet!

Rob, sometimes I use the Testor's (in the bottle), sometimes Ambroid ProWeld (also in a bottle, but slightly thicker, it seems), and I have a tube of another cement for styrene/plastic (Testor's, maybe). In a way, for me they're a bit like the varieties of thicknesses in CA or the different times on epoxies. I find myself, that I tend to use the Ambroid (though the brush in the cap on mine has a 'Y' at the end that annoys the heck out of me at times when I'm trying to control it more). Guess I should designate a small brush for my more precise gluing jobs, eh?  On your 'bay seller, I would put him on my 'Never Again' list, if it were me (after I had him make things right and/or refund the purchase and shipping charges...).Angry

Ulrich, if the cicadas are eating up either your flowers or your veggies, I say it's open season on them. Yeah!! Only other option is to wait until the things burrow down and 'hibernate' until however many years (7?) later and the return... Hey, thanks for the tip on gluing resin - I have a few resin kits I will need to assemble sometime, and had been thinking of using epoxy ('cause it's what I have, although I really need something quicker than the 30 minute kind I have...).

Oh, Chloe - after hearing Ulrich describe his wife's strudel, could I have a slice of that for dessert? Yes, I'll walk some extra tomorrow to burn the calories off...(Gee, these w'men... ) Oh, nothing, not a thing, Chloe, just commenting about how amazing women can be! (Whew - that was a close one!)Whistling

PC, I noticed on the news tonight that there's a biker rally/conference/whatever near here - I think it's in either Southern Illinois or western Kentucky. Of course, it might be a bit of a ride, depending on your weather between there and the location here. Cool Sorry to hear about your son's back problems - will add my prayers to the rest for him. AngelAngel

Ray - who makes that 80 tonner? I know the 44 tonner is GE (as is the 70 tonner, right?), but don't know if I've ever seen an 80 ton diesel. I'll look forward to seeing the photos. May be later in the day tomorrow, as I've found out that my laundry doesn't have their WiFi w**king anymore. Guess they cut back the costs that way...(pooh...Thumbs Down) So I'll check in later from a restaurant WiFi instead.

Hey, Ryan - careful with that 'Mark XV' stuff - if they did that, there's a lot of us (including me) who couldn't afford this place!Shock The prices would likely be much higher if it were the Mark XV, also. Smile,Wink, & Grin

Chris, I think Ray may have hit on the real story, all right - plus, firing Nazicop for the 'not w**king on the job' reason reduces the odds of his getting hired on at some neighboring town (for a while, anyway).

Eric - sounds like a few prayers lately for strength for you might be in order, eh? Hope you're through the worst of it on the estate stuff - that can be a regular PITA sometimes. Good point on the road w**ker stealing a peek at your computer screen at the office - isn't he supposed to be (as the job title goes) w**king on or at the ROAD??? (sorry, just got a little peeved on your behalf...)Oops

On the MRR'ing front, I've been looking at some Athearn RTR trucks they have. They're way too expensive (about $13 each list price Shock), but they have some neat ones for my layout's period (1955 Ford F100's). Some with the 'flames' on the side like some of the 'muscle cars' of that time and later had, and some just with a different paint scheme than much of the others.

Speaking of cars and trucks, anyone know of how to mask off the windows on vehicles so I could either weather or repaint some of them? I'm thinking I would need something more precise than photo masking tape, something like a frisket, etc. Anyone have some ideas for me? Thanks in advance.

Hey, Barry - got enough rain there lately? Let me join you there. It sure seems like the Ohio River/eastern Great Lakes/upper east coast area has been getting its fair share (or more) of rain lately. I'm just glad our latest batch of rain fronts has stopped for now. Barry, you have to try a slice of this strudel that Ulrich brought in - his wife's an amazing cook! Chloe, another slice for Barry, please!

Barry and I will be discussing how we can either stow away on a ship headed for Germany - or else, get Ulrich and wife moved here to this side of the 'pond' (no, Barry, I'm not talking about your backyard...)...

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

JEFF: This is cutting into your MRR time LOL ^_^, I think you need a trip to your LHS to recoup!!!

I hear ya. Problem with that is I need some free time (at least 2 hours) in which to do it. My father helps a little but he has to work to keep the insurance going and my sister has to work to support herself. I'm the only one not committed to an employer.

The other reason for my absence....  My sneaking a peek here at work was passed to the management by one of the road workers.  Wrong? Well, yes.  I admittted my guilt and removed the site from my computer.   But the accusations of 'computer abuse' continued.  I left one of my vendors sites up on the monitor on purpose and another complaint was filed.  I asked why a road worker was in my office at my computer in the first place, silence...

Good evening from steamy New England, the pool water is almost 80F!!!! This is bathwater !!

More storms headed our way from south and west, can't excape these tonight. At least all the grass is cut and garden is in decent shape after a record setting June for rains and low temps ( Global Warming??..BS !! )

Got to LHS on Wednesday, picked up a few cars and several kits also. The Truss Bridge from MicroEngineering is at a standstill until the missing Sprue #12 arrives in the mail. Also on Wednesday night after leaving the LHS, we went to the Salem Cross Inn ( circa 1710) at the invitation of the LHS owner, for a meal and presentation by Brian Solomon. He has authored over 34 train books all of which are excellent. I took my books with me and he autographed them all. Brian had 300 slides that he presented from his most recent travels gathering into for his next book.

PC: Sorry to hear that your son is battling yet another illness, but he is a strong lad and he will be just fine, prayers for him always.

FERGIE: China has recalled all those plastic chairs that have a "problem", however the Canadians will not return them !!!!

Still looking for a 4-6-6T locomotive, anyone know of any available? Brass or otherwise.

Flo, A REALLY big RBF please, Thanks!

Wow! have I missed that much?  21 pages in the new diner already?  It's been a bit rough here.  BIG problems with the estate all of a sudden.  Plus.... the tourists are here in force.  Head on collisions on roads that go nowhere... Illegal turns down one way streets.  Roll overs with entrapments... all in 3 days!

From a quick scan I see that there is some good news for some people, that's good to hear.

Any-hoo, stay well of you.  I'll try to have some interesting MRR news soon....

MMMmmmm, that RBF sure was good!!!!!!

Boy, I've been busy today. Fed my sister's menagerie this morning then rousted my mother out of bed and made her breakfast. There were several other things she had to have done then I went to pick up their dogs from the groomer then went to the rehab center to pick up a couple of bottles of medicine that had been left there then went and got her lunch from Burger King. Took the lunch, medicine and dogs home then had to set things up with AT&T so they can come and fix a flaky phone line in the old side of the house. After that my father came home and I was free! I have nothing else to do until tonight when I have to go feed my sister's menagerie again. Hopefully she'll be home sometime tomorrow, Sunday at the latest.

Philip's wife doing better, a Nazi Cop fired, there is good news in the world today.

I'll have a large coffee in a AT&SF mug, please & thanks.

The e-seller is going to send me the right cars and I'll send him back the wrong ones. He will also pay for my return shipping, so all should be well with this in the end. Now that I laid out the IRS building parts, the base is in 5 broken parts, a railing is broken with a part missing, and many of the windows inserts are warped (and no, they are not made that way). We'll see what he wants to do about this next issue. I could glue the base back together, but it's an entirely useless model without all those windows. And there was no smoke fluid included as the auction stated. Seems a full refund should be offered in this case. Same seller, so we'll see.

Not much to report on. Still in "altered states" today.
