Good Evening such as that is----

I have to clear the camera from the who knows how many pix I took around the Beachville area. Then I'm going to have to find which ones are useful enough to post up here and see what you guys think. We discovered that the west mill site is temporarily shut down and the spur being used to store some autoracks. I saw one CN engine dragging approx 44 autoracks( all empty) towards Woodstock where there is supposedly someplace to store them---(east end spurs from old Kelsey Hayes plant?). Much of the quarry site is off limits to vistors as there are times when blasting occurs so moi( having official permish---) waits until days like today to do this perimeter stuff. Hopefully they will not argue with me tomorrow/monday--

I'm going to sit with Ulrich and check out those layouts he's got--Chloe, a bucket of coffee please. And a SRP as well please---

Windy outside but very nice. I had to do an emergency brake repair this afternoon. The difference between a brake job and a brake repair job is that a repair job is working on the brakes AFTER someone else worked on them and couldn't get them done. Sooo... after learning what needed to be done I said sure I'd finish it, along comes the car and the parts. Car gets taken apart and the parts get loaded into my truck and back to the parts store to exchange the parts that aren't needed for the parts that are. I hate working after someone else.Grumpy

Jeff- I've heard good things about Vizio's. Not from what I read, but from what people who own them say. That's the real test. Not some female dog fest on the internet where they only get responses from ½% of the actual buyers and only the ones who have a problem bother writing in. We are looking at the same brand and maybe that size or about 42" (?) somewhere in that area for our basement. The old, old Big screen, rear projection is just about to hang up it's spurs. Color needs refilled,(whatever that means) or the lights need replaced depending on what repair service you talk to, and the adjustment to make it clear as opposed to blurry, well the estimates range from the price of a new Vizio to "who boy I can buy two Vizios for that!"Shock

Chris- LaughYep I had to read the instructions on mine several times myself over that one. I don't see how the cap could stay on and let paint through. Not to mention the air would, should, blow the thing off as soon as you press the buttonConfused. I think it's just a protective cap for storage. Let me know what you find out as I STILL haven't tried mine yet. I was going to today and I thought I had more air fittings but I guess I'm out so next time I'm in town I'll have to stop by Big R and pick some up.Sigh

If I can get some stuff moved around/clear-out a space on the w**k table, I might fire it up tonight...with the cap off. Like you, I just don't see how it could function at all with it on. I knew somebody in here had gotten one of these Harbor Freight jobs...just couldn't remember who, and didn't feel like digging through 2 diners' worth of posts to figure it out.

Thanks for the input, and glad to be the guinea pig for ya...Smile,Wink, & Grin

And right back atcha... Rerun says we may have to do a preemptive strike. I told him, as soon as I finish up his new boxcar (Athearn bluebox PS 5344 ex-Rock blue CNW), then maybe I can test-fire the projectile...I mean, check out the airbrush.

Yeah, that's it...test the...airbrush...yeah (wind coming from the East...15 with gusts to 20... factor in a little windage...) Hmmmmmmmm. Maybe an early morning launch, I mean...test of the airbrush...

Evenin' folks!

Chris it sounds like you are already doing that test firing........  Hobart and William Smith Colleges are having their annual alumni reunion weekend here in Geneva.  'Tis Saturday night so the Fireworks are going on right now.  My son and his family came over to the little playground down the street from me to "tire out" the daughters hoping that they will be able to sleep through the BOOMS!  They have the pleasure of living about 2 blocks away from where they are being set off.... Inside the city!  I did get to play with my granddaughters for about an hour and a half this evening, so Yay for the fireworks!!!

My youngest granddaughter, Emily, will be baptized in church tomorrow so they are hoping for them both to be well rested.  Hopefully I will get to sit with them and the rest of the family rather than get stuck doing sound.........Grumpy

I did a few odd jobs that have been hanging over my head for several weeks waiting to be done.  Leveled up the shed out back so the doors would close properly.  (Oooooo we are getting the whole bunch of stuff set off our there.......  must be near the end of the show.) Then did some cleaning and putting away of stuff sitting on my dining room table.....  even got to do some work in the train room.  Put together a small Tichy Train Group kit this afternoon and got it somewhat painted tonight.  Hold your horses will ya!  I'll get photos when it is finished!  Sheesh!

Hope everyone has a fine evening out there!

I now have my airbrush!!! YES! haven't messed around with it yet though. I also got two of the three SCRail colors (the base color for the shell (reefer white) and the handrail/frame color (engine black), so I can get my fleet mostly painted, except for the third color (ATSF blue). I ordered the ATSF blue and some replacement horns for my units (factory horns+dried paint+hobby knife=new horns needed Wink )
He is gonna check and see if they're in stock at Walthers though. I also need to swing by Hobby Lobby and pick up a can of thinner for my Model master paint.

Yeah, you just might be on to something there Pal... and yes, the unit does work extremely well without the chromium plated, fully alluminumated, genuine accessory airbrush cover... hefty little piece of...something, 'aint it?

Ok that's it. I was going to offer up a treaty of peace but I see that I must shore up my defenses of Toddland (of which I'm King) and schedule the test firing tomorrow morning first thing. Well..., after church. After the successful launch I will prepare an offer of coalition. Think of it if you will and begin trembling in your ground foam. Myself, Jim, Garry, Inch, and of course Jerry, WHO you may think are all kind hearted small town sorts, but rile us up, threaten the sanctity of our choo choo trains, talk invasion of the itty bitty plywood worlds we love, and it's HARBOR FREIGHT for the $16 airbrush!!! Oh they may not be interested now, but just think, if you miss judge one little thing and your "chromium plated, fully alluminated, genuine accessory airbrush covers" comes a plopping right in the middle of switching operations, you'll see a mad rush to Harbor Freight and I will have my Coalition! Never mis calculate the sleepy little central Illinoyz-e-uns and of course the surrounding area. Tomorrow will be the beginning of a new day!

But now..., I's seepy. And the wife says I have to sign off or I can't play with the computer tomorrow.

Prayers for those in need. Zzz

 Mornin´ ev´rybody.

Flo, it´s just coffee for me, in a MILW mug, please.  Need to get my eyes open - no, nothing to eat...

Have to save up me bucks for my next railroad project, so it is breakfast only on the even days for me in the next months...

Caught a lot of comments on my track plan issue here. I guess I will have to stop and take it from the drawing board. Might end up planning for the planning´s sake instead of building.

Anybody here from the tracklaying gang? Need to know about handlayin´ track...

Its going to be a warm day.  A good day to hit the cool basement.

Well did some window shopping yesterday, but the wife did by some things for herself.

Watched a great show last night on TV (National Geographic).  It was about a scrap yard in Kansas City that was ripping apart two old KCS engines.  It was real neat.  How they were selling the copper wires, to the cabs of the engines.  Two brothers owned the scrap yard, and I bet they were rolling in the $$$$$$.   If I can remember the numbers were 605 and 647.   605 wasn't scrapped.  Another company bought it, but 647 was........well, no longer a engine.

I will try to finish up the C&O hopper today.  Just a few details to add.

Also I see a few are still talking about Harbor Freight airbrush.  Well here's a shot of the airbrush set.  It was $75.  Thats everything you need.

I guess I will take a blueberry muffin to go.

Be back in later.

Mornin' everyone!

I'm just poping in for a quick cup of coffee before getting ready to get to church this morning.  Little Emily Howard gets baptized during the worship service this morning.

Zoe just coffee and a bowl of "old phart" cereal if you please.  We're gonna have a pizza party at my son's house after church and I want to leave plenty of room for that!

What is this?  Armed camps threatening each other with interballistic airbrush covers?  I have my camera and will document any hostilities that occur........  See, I have a card from the "UN" (United N-scalers) that permits me access to inspect all airbrushes being developed by hobbyists!

Philip says, "Treaties.......TREATIES??  We don't need no stinkin' TREATIES!!!!!"

He prefers pie anyway.  Philip, I've got the telephoto lens pointing your way, you stay out of those treaties!  Doesn't matter if they are chocolate covered and marshmallow filled.... I wouldn't "brush" this off lightly.  There needs to be a "cap" on all of this "air" the pressure becomes to much............  Sorry just like the "Badger" you.

OK, see you all later!  Now behave!

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO

Good morning. Coffee, grape juice, eggs scrambled and toast please. No not dry, with butter thanks.

The dog has been out for morning potties and is now back asleep. High of 85 today with a 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms. The skies have darkened and I think I heard thunder. We really don't need the rain now. You watch we'll be drier than a popcorn fart in August and Sept crying for rain. Then when the combines start to roll .....rain.

Weeeeeell it's beginning to look like the Louisiana purchase was a waste of a good five bucks! See I warned you, the folks south of the line formed roughly parallel East and West through Broadwell,Il ( to include Barh,Il. A noisy little hamlet who just didn't want to be left out), which I like to refer to as the 43,321 Parallel, will take only so much before they say ENOUGH! Remember the Civil War? (figuratively speaking of course. I would be silly to think anyone actually remembers the Civil War).Well as I've been told many times, it ain't over yet! As Jeff should have made clear by now, you fire a shiny thing at me and it won't be pretty!

BUT! Now, I've changed my mind. So no need for inspections, Ray. I've decided to use my airbrush shiny caplike thing launch for purely research reasons. I only wish to use it peacefully. That's the kind of guy I am. After church I am going to swipe a fitting from another tool and try it. I also have some items to apply some paint to that shouldn't hurt the things if something goes in a bad way. I'm hoping for a decent event. Will keep you posted. I'm starting at 30 psi and a 50/50 mix of paint/water. Sound good?

Did I hear someone correctly, they have used that Folk Art paint from Wally World in their airbrushes and it worked fine? Or was I dreaming of a cheaper way to paint. I was mainly thinking of blacks and earth tones for weathering, They would be a LOT cheaper than the Polly Scale.

Yes Barry, I think that is exactly what happened. They had to have got the location on the "remove cap" in the wrong spot. And since the proof readers can't speak English, they thought the print looked pretty and sent it on.

Robby- That's the brush! Or at least looks like it. Mine of course doesn't have the air comp. But had I seen that....no tank, not as much moisture. Inside. Hmm. Anyway I couldn't help but notice you too have a silver cap brush tip cover thing. How long have you had it and I'm assuming it's still doing well?

Have a Great Day!

Good morning.

It's 63 and cloudy. The high will be in the low 90's and it will be partly cloudy.

My mother was doing well yesterday. The breathing tube has been removed so she's now able to tell the docs what she thinks of them. She's due to be moved out of the ICU to a room with more reasonable visiting hours. That waiting 4 hours for a half hour visiting time was for the birds. Not much happening here today so I'll probably catch up on my sleep a bit.

Todd.............Its not the best airbrush out on the market, but it does what I need.   I only use it for fading, and dullcote.  When I need the small rust lines, I just use a thin paint brush.   If someone is looking to use this airbrush for painting cars/engines, or something similar.............well this might not be it.   BUT, the airbrush alone is a good deal at $19.99.   Its a good one to get your "feet wet".

I use those craft paints in an alcohol wash but I'm wondering if it would work in an airbrush.

I ended up with something similar to what Robby posted just recently-----and I'm not surprised that it would have been a misprint-----I know that all it did was launch pretty good there!!Laugh

75 bucks for an airbrush including a compressor? The minimum I have to pay here is Euro 199 - that´s 250 bucks...Smile,Wink, & Grin

Well, I am just dropping by for a last cup of coffee and a chat with the guys. Finalized my track plan and took it off the drawing board. I am pondering to hand-lay my track, if my trembling right hand does allow for it. Guys, it is no good to have a stroke, even a minor one. No Fred, you don´t have to hold my mug, I can still do that on mine own...Big Smile

Seriously, I ´d like to go into handlaying track - will contact Wolfgang here in Germany on that issue - he has a tremendous experience

So long for the day!!
