Just returned from my sister's place. Man was it busy there.  They didn't have quite 60 but it was still a crowd, and they were waiting for my mother to say grace. Never having been accused of standing on ceremony, my mother borrowed a line from 'Ma an Pa Kettle'. Grace was very simply 'There's the bread, there's the meat, thank you Lord, now let's eat'.

   I'm thinking some big ol' shrimp lets say a dozen, pecan pie with real whipped cream ( none of this coolwhip crap) and how a nice batch of those deep fried catfish cheeks. I'll wash it down with a very large Southern Comfort & Squirt, with lots of ice. Double time i'm ready to eat.

Hello all, I'm home! Ok David, give up the computer so I can log on.

Been cutting up more plywood today. I cut over 1,500 pieces, mostly box bottoms, tops and ends. I had one moment there when I thought I might get hurt badly. I was cutting a piece of 3/4" CDX measuring 4' x 3 1/5' when it slipped and got gaught on top of the saw blade. the saw threw it back at me. It hit me right above the belt buckle with enough force that it knocked the wind out of me and pushed me back about a foot. I'm glad it hit me on a broad edge and not with a corner. As it is, I have a somewhat nasty bruise there now, and I don't bruise easily.

 

Jeff just be glad that it didn't hit BELOW your belt....

I had another minor disaster today when I was leaving my sister's place.  I was heading home and started down their wheelchair ramp (my brother-in-law has bad knees and sometimes has to use a chair) when the heel of my right walker device hit a slick spot and I slipped, falling between the ramp and a concrete bench, hitting my head on a step. I don't know how long I was out. The next thing I saw was my brother-in-law bending over me. He was checking me out to see if I had any cuts or fractures. I understand it was several of the guests that found me wedged down there. Thank God almost all the guests were trained first responders. They knew exactly how to free me without aggravating any injuries. Fortunately I'm alright, aside from a headache.

Well, I don't have any disaster stories for you guys...

I went to my girlfriend's house (well, her parents) for dinner today.  Then we went to her grandparent's for dessert.  THEN we went to my grandma's for more dessert (and to celebrate her birthday).  Overall it was a really fun, although somewhat busy) day.

A very nice day here. The weather couldn't have been better. Try 75f, light breeze out of the south, clear blue skys and a great turkey supper. I spent the day moving a manure pile that had been sitting for several years so we could have a little more manuvering room at the barn. Tractors with loaders are great. I also took some time to do some reading. I picked up a book titled "At All Costs". It was about the attempte to resupply Malta during WW2. It manly told of the SS Ohio, the tanker that made a heroic effort to make it to Malta. It arrived with decks awash and under tow but with it's badly needed cargo of fuel oils. If you haven't heard about this event look it up.

Well I think that I'll head for bed.

Good morning all, I hope the turkey was good for all yesterday. We had a nice visit, My Mom and Dad drove in from Toledo for the day. I had to work in the morning, but all was not lost I took some nice close up pictures of a ballast groomer and some large dock cranes. Also I found an old semaphore still standing (NYC) (not in use) and a 3 light Tee signal that is still in use (B&O). It’s interesting that down near the steel mill they have these and the original B&O lighted signals and the yard uses the robot locomotives to hustle the freight cars.

I decided having ours at Kris's wasn't such a good idea. Mother thought she needed to take half the kitchen up there. I think it's easier to do it here, even with the cleaning.
