Thanks for going to all that trouble. Your email came through, and I've replied. Let me know if you don't get that reply, and I'll get onto Sympatico and see if there is a problem.

It's looking good John, maybe I'll get a chance to see it someday. Anyway I'm sailing at 6 or should I say 18:00 for beyond Sable. So I should be back sometime.

Until then "Keep Your train on the track".

Jim, have a good trip, and I will be hoping the crew wins for you. We went to a Game Satuday night, but they lost then. We still had fun as we got one of the bobble head promotions, and I got one of the rarer ones. Oh, and let me know if you find any good spots to watch trains from, as I can't find much of anything around there.

Well, I have made a desicsion. I'm going to redo a part of my current track plan on my Layout. There's onme spot right know where there's a track crossing, and it's given me more trouple lately, so I'm taking it out and avoiding the crossing. This will also give me a chance to add two or three new industries to they layout, which will mean more switching. I'm also going to rip up all of the current track, and realy about 85-90% of it back exactly where it was, but hopefully without and gaps in the track. I have also decided the name of this branch, and it's history. It will be called the A.R.K subdivson of the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad. I'm not sure of the three towns but I know the A will be Appleton. It's history goes like this, but remember this is all made up. The WSOR recently purchased this line from the CP and it runs from Appleton, WI to ______, WI (I'll fill this in when I figure out the other two towns) In real life, the WSOR runs from Horicon WI to Oshkosh WI, which isn't very far from Appleton. They are using Trackage rights to go between oshkosh and Appleton on the CP (off layout). I'm going to model appleton and about a fictional 5 miles of track, which run just outside of town, where there will be a small industrial park with several industries. I think it will work very well, but it may take a while before I get to run trains again. I've got to rip up some track, and re-level a few boards at their joints, and then relay track and begin scenery. I'll try to get somepictures of the way it is now, the process along the way, and teh finnished result. This is goinng to take a good while, but I hope to running trains within a week or two from when I beign ripping up the track. I hope I haven't bored you with this, but I'm really excited about it, it should be neat. I plan on appointing myself subdivison manager.

Morning guys, what up with thee? I was gonna go out railfanning today, but it's raining. So I'll just sit in the basement and work on converting some old TYCO cars with horn hooks to knuckle couplers (good thing I have all those left over EZ mates, I'm fresh out of Kadees).

Good Morning All:

Not much going on this morning just enjoying my first cup of tea. I went out and got some driveway fill yesterday and my back is telling me that it's to old to be on the working end of a shovel. Sometimes the brain doesn't always listen to the body.

lupo:
Are you srill looking at those trucks on the mantle? Santa Fe used any light color that was in the shop. I realize that, as model railroaders, we want conformity but even the Pennsy (the standard of the world) didn't conform all the time.

I must admit I don't run a Genesis unit with an Intermountian because of the differance in the trucks.

Well I've got to get ready and go to work.

Hi John, I think part of the problem is where the photo is being hosted. Rail
images and rail pictures photos don't work with the img command, at least I
haven't gotten them to. It may have to do with the other things on the page with
the photo. The best way to use photos hosted there, is just to use the URL
simply by copying it into the post. That way it shows up as a link, then
everyone can just click on it to see it. My ISP gives me 25M with my account for
a personal web page, that's where I store mine. By the way, that part on the end
that says "full", is about sizing the image on the screen.

Thanks for the kind invite[(-D] One of the really blessed things about this part of the world is that we rarely get 90 degree weather. So, tempting as it may be to slide over and finsih your layout, I'm afaid that I'll have to pass.[sigh] As to getting the Maritime Trunk finished in six weeks, not a chance, can't find it most days in all this fog........[banghead][oops]

PHIL:
You can understand the relief that I feel probably more then anyone else:

EARL DIED AND HAS BECOME A TROPICAL WAVE.

That is the best news I've heard in the last two days, aside from everyone in FL comming out OK.

How are you guys doing in Nova Scotia?

FERGIE:
I've lost your phone number, It's on the same sheet of paper that has your schedule. I don't know what your shift is. Down here we go 7 on and 7 off, 14 on and 14 off, or 28 on and 28 off. I don't want to get to NS and find out that you just left yesterday or will be back in two days. Do you know how to get in touch with Fundynorthern? I'd like to see his layout also.

As of today (subject to change) I'll see you on day 7 and John on day 8. Brakie will be on day 2. Tom will be later as I don't know yet when I'll be comming through GA. YNCS will be several days after John but I haven't work up that part of the trip yet. I still have to get it approved by the boss (Stephanie). When I get it all together (hopefuly I won't forget where I put it) I'll get in touch with everybody and see if it will fit their schedule.

To YNCS and John:
My layout is just benchwork and track (not all of that is wired). Scenery may be started before I leave but it's not a big priority. From the post a couple of days ago between you guys I'm not expecting a layout like the musuem in Chicago, just almost. JUST PICKING. I've been around long enough - I still use coke cans as tanks; kit boxes as buildings and envelopes propped up with jars as facades for my industries. I was hoping to have my layout on the San Jact club tour this Oct and Nov but alas I didn't get enough done. The second lap of my main line is still under construction. We are trying to get several layouts over here so the Houston guys don't feel that the 100+ mile drive is a waste of time.

Well Bob, it's like this. I always manage to find time for Big Girl. My layout is suffering, but part of that is due to it being summer. I don't have a job, but I'm not really looking for one either. (Long story). Sleep, I get my fair share, but my schedule is kind of strange. I usually eat in front of my computer, and railfanning is more or less once a week.

I'm not that young, or at least I don't feel that young most of the time. By the way, it's not 2 forums it's really 3+. I'm very active on Classic Toy Trains, and subscribe to that magazine in addition to MR and Trains. I used to subscribe to Garden Railways, but gave up the idea of having one when I moved to my larger basement, I mean house.

Alright, alright, once in a while we do talk about food, but we aren't obsessed with it like they are over on Trains. The barbeque conversation is preserved here in the early pages of this topic.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to visit the refrigerator.[swg] I may need to get another one for the train room, the ex wife took my old one.[:(][:(!][:P][;)]

I'm both (but not sure about the 'healthy' part!)
I hope to soon post pics of my Santa Fe layout (under construction, but lower level completed)

Thank you!!!! And welcome to this side of the tracks. The people here seem to have a much better understanding of the intent behind this topic. It should have nothing to do with food, and everything to do with good conversation.

I'm both a modeler and a railfan too, but not everyone is. There are not very many of us who post to both forums. Maybe 100 that do so on a regular basis. Many of the members over there don't bother to come here.

Frankly I'm a little disgusted with some of the foamy nonsense that goes on over there, and one person in particular. I think you'll enjoy hanging out with this crowd and you should fit right in. As always the goal is to have fun.[8D]

Big_Boy_4005: How do you find time to do two forums? That gives you in addition to the forums 1) Big_Girl_; 2) layout; 3) work; 4) sleep; 5) eating and 6) railfanning. You're a better man then I am. I sometimes meet myself in the hall doing another project. But then you young squirts don't need much sleep.

At the risk of raising Big_Boy's ire, may I mention food? Of course model railroaders are healthier than railfans, unless they are Garden RRs. The reason is that most model railroaders aren't a food source for mosquitos while they are at work on their layouts! I've a video of the Alaska RR, and in parts you can hardly see the trains for the mosquitos in front of the camera![:0][:(]

Not completely true, as there have been some good recipes handed around here and someone is always flaming the BBQ

Mmmmmm, Maybe we could BBQ the Flamers, though a little tough for my liking!

Thanks, discretion is the better part of valor. I don't want to start a flame war either. There is already a test of wills going on, between myself and the other person, unbeknownst to almost everyone here. My goal is to go about my business and steer clear of any direct interaction.

I have learned things from both forums too, but I really like meeting the other people and sharing what I know, especially on the modeling side.[swg]
