Evening Gang: Just a quick one tonight, work tomorrow and 4am comes early.
Jeff: happy that you made it without a scratch. I assume that your housing situation has been resolved. It is one of those great things about us humans that when the going gets tough we dig in and help each other out. A big Well Done to the volunteer FDs, and all the other folks that pitched in.
ED: Thanks for the pictures. I like those critters. We have 2 Plymouths at Six Flags. They are both about 10 ton models. I used to use the 5 ton for working on the animations along the railroad. That was fun.
PC: No need to put up with repairs to a house that is new. If it's new it needs to be new.
I'm off to bed. I'll see you all tomorrow.
Good Night All

Mornin all, just some coffee for now Janie,
Another cloudy rainy day, high bout 75, atleast it not cold. The fall demomderby is tonight, don't think there'll be much of a crowd with kinda weather.
Grandson Mac's here for the weekend, so I've got more help than I need. He's a purrty good kid, somtimes.
ED,,, thanks for the pics, enjoyed them alot. Looks like a nice place to visit someday.
GMT,, the rail trip sounds like fun and great scenery along the way. The stations in Effingham and Mattoon are only open 1 hour before and after train arrival, and you have to have your tickets before hand, can't buy them on the train [what I was told anyway], that's Amtrak for ya.
Jeffery,, I didn't relize Rita got you, know you folks got hit purrty hard back there. When people come togaigther like that in troubled times, kinda give you hope for the future anyway. We got some heavy rain up here from Rita was all.
PC,, glad the move will be on time, and I agree with you you to replace not patch, could lead to trouble down the road
JP, good to hear from you. We'll say a prayer for Bo's family, know what it's like to lose a pet, you really care for.
Found some pics from awhile back I hadn't posted yet, from Findlay, IL. They're rebuilding the UP tracks through there. Found this switch being built along side the tracks. Off to the back round you can see where the tracks slpit, the one to the left goes to Altamont, IL., right all the way to E. St. Louis.
I think the switch is for the elevator siding, the main line goes to Tusola, IL.
That wasn't a very good rail pic trip, no trains at all that day.
Did honey-do chores most the of yesterday, still have a couple to finish up this morning, then it's fun time. Mother has to be over to the fair grounds most the day for the derby and to work on year end reports for the fair, so me an Mac can play in the train room or at in the shed, to wet for much else. hope ya'll has a gooden

Good morning and top 'o' the day to all of ye. I'll have the steak and eggs this morning, if it's not too much trouble.
Well, all thats happening in my world today is to get the laundry done and then this afternoon, I have to go work on a sick computer. The guy let his children use it for one hour and now it won't start up in Windows. Bet I know what's wrong with it. We probably all know what this line does: del \windows\*.dll. I've seen it all to often.

Ed- Re-my last posting- I was born in Conn. and still remember the train rides from N.Y. to
New London Ct. I looked at my inventory and saw I have 15 B&M cars. I do, they were out of place. Partial list of my cars follows- ATSF 27 cars 4 locos ACL-26 cars 1 eng. FEC 44 cars 6 engs. SBD 35 cars 4 engs. GN- 44 cars 5 engs.
Daylight and a B&O passenger consist with locos. Also many other lines. NO Pennsey , Erie NKP or a bunch of others.
Hope all have a great weekend. Blessings on all and prayers.

Welcome back James from OZ! Nice to see you again.
Morning all!
Just popping in for a moment. Got lots of packing to do you know!
Nice pic's inch. That turnout is pretty cool.
ok. I need O27 scale track for my Dad's MARX train.. he's had it scence he was a kid.. I need the track so that I can run it on Christmass and surprise him, but I don't have the money to buy the track.. anyone have unwanted O27 track they could care less about?? I'll happly use it. send me an email..
Here are some not too great pics of the engine..
the cover can come off easly. It's did have a sound unite but it's long scence gone..
Boy has this been a slow day in the coffee shop. When I walked in I had to wake up Zoe, Cloe, and Janie. They were all asleep in the back both. I could have walked off with the joint. Oh well, they work so hard I guess when it's as slow as it's been today it's OK. Girls I'l have a cheese burger, fries, and a diet coke, please and it's on me. Jeff has hit it the last 3 pages. It's time for him to have a time out.
Nothing going on here. I'm about to hit the sack. I know it's early but Mary Ann and I are really tired. I got alittle more done on the Cliffs Shaft head today not much just some more windows cut out. The PVC sheet is nice to work with but the 3mm stuff is a bear to cut out windows in. I have to get some 1mm and 2mm and try it out. The sign shop didn't have any, otherwise I could have picked up some scrapes.
Well I'm off to bed.

There are better places on the west side of the island. I believe the best spot is at Cornerbrook. There they have the one remaining Nfld Railway steam engine on display. It's a Baldwin built Pacific, #593. It was just too far for us to go, especially considering that the main purpose of the vacation was to visit family.
I did see several ships that appeared to be Canadian Coast Guard in St John's harbor. Is your dock there over on the east side of the harbor?

Good morning all, hummm, seems like nobody else is here. No bother. I'll have a big stack of jumbo pancakes, sausage and two eggs, sunny side up, and some orange juice.
Jim All I did on the wiring, besides rip out what was already there, was to eliminate the tight bundles of wires. These work well in DC but seem to have some kind of an effect on the signals in the DCC current. No matter how many feeders I ran, the problem ramained. So out came the bundles. I made my connections from the power packs and DCC controller to the control panel, then made the wire runs to the blocks as straight as possible using 14 gauge wire. I know this is thick enough to do the job because I've had 5 Athearn's running in consist and the wires didn't even start to get warm. There are 16 blocks in all, so the wiring to the blocks are the feeders, allowing the trains to go from one block to the next with no decrease in performance. The trains run the same speed no matter if they're close to the control panel or on the other side of the layout. I didn't worry about bus lines, I not going to be running big trains with 4 and 5 locos in consist (except to test the capacity of the power packs) unless they're running in DC. The DCC system I have won't pull that many. I usually run just short trains (6 to 10 units) for which one locomotive is suffecient.
Morning Gang: I had some slight problem getting in this morning. I had to go across the street and get a cup of coffee to tide me over.
Jeff: You need to grab a steak on Fergie this morning. You've been buying the last 3 pages. That wiring setup of yours is a great idea. I wounder why some of the DCC garus haven't thought of it. I guess it takes us mortals to come up with the neat stuff. The problem with the bundles and the dcc signal is probably the wires being in very close proximity. The wire needs to be sheilded from one another. Even with the 14ga the signal can mess up an adjacent or crossing wire. How large are your blocks? I have a 12x26 layout. It started out as a couple of modules and just growed.
Fergie: My best to you dad. I'm sure that he will get to look and feel better now that he's home. You know the lod saying , " There's no place like home. "
Well it's almost time to get to work. I'll stop back in later.

Mornin all, just some coffee and a couple doughnuts this morning Janie
The rains gone for the day I think, 53 out now high in the upper 60's with some sun. Got the demo derby done last night with only a misty shower for 2 heats, rest of the evening was just muddy and i mean mud. The full size cars had a lot ot trouble getting around, no big hits, compacts were the better show. Oh well the fair still made some money, that was the name of the game. Did think Mother was going to tie into one guy, when he come up on the stage and to start trouble. That would have been a show right there.
Jeff ,,,, we've had the same problems with kids on our putor, going where they shouldn't or down loading programs without asking first. Makes ya just want to beat their bottoms. I get luandry days to, but guess thats just marrage.
Sounds like your getting all the bugs out of the wiring. I'm like you, I don't run any long trains, 10 cars at the most. Do have some engines that get to much wheel slippage over 5-6 cars.
Flip, good to hear from you. Can't believe you don't have at least one Pennsey, you'll have to fix that.
PC,, when they put the siding in here at Little Johns, thats how they did it. They only had the passing track down for 6 hours while putting it in. Took longer to get the old section of track, than to put the switch in.
Grayfox,,, don't ya just luv the hoey-do's, hoping mines done for a couple days.
Fergie,,, I luv pickled beats, can ya get your MIL recipe for me. Nice looking engine there, thanks
Jim CG,,, the junk pics were on RR property, they were just by the the elevator. Don't know if I'll use any washer machines either.
Here's some Sunday pics, first two are MOW, we seen at Cole,IL. Sitting beside the tracks on boards
Next HLCX 7180 and CSX 6221 engines sitting on Little Johns siding
Next, W. bound UP #? and HLCX 5240
Not much planned for today, other than trains and foot ball. Wanted to go to Rock Ome Gardens swap meet today, but don't have a way up. Mother's having an old hen party here the afternoon, so hiding will be on top of the list during that. Hope ya'll has a good day.
Beautiful morning around here. Makes up for the rainy day yesterday I guess.
inch, how's RT doing? Been praying for him.
der, thanks for krump's address. I wrote to him, but I haven't got anything back. How's he doing?
JimRCGMO wrote:PC, I don’t know if it’s just because of the cooler weather or the antifreeze I put in the expansion tank. but the car’s been behaving itself pretty much (hasn’t overheated, anyway). However, I’ve been babying the thing since last Sunday, too. And as for ‘what idiot’ put plastics in an engine, you asked? Why, probably the same engineers who made the things so hard to work on over the past several years... Good to hear your walk-through on the new house went well. Time’s a ticking (what? did you say you need more boxes to fill up?)
Turns out it was a plastic (yes, another plastic part) hose coupler that Ford put in there. It had a hairline crack and that was causing the pressure not to build which lowered the boiling point, hence, the overheating. As far as I know it's an original part to the car so that means it made it 225,000 miles. That's not bad. The down side was that the plastic part was $200 to replace! That's right, $200 dollars for a hunk of plastic! Silly me, and I invested in gold!
And yes, there's boxes everywhere in my house right now!
Luc- thanks for the coffee.

Prayers for those hurting. And prayers for those who THINK they don't need them.
Cape Jim- No B&M not favorite , just like the diff. blue&black schemes. I like the G.N. Goat-have most of the diff billboard designs. The Daylight is my favorite. Have a full consist with a 4-8-4 for power. The FEC is next as I lived near the yard and was allowed onto the controll tower to take pictures and into the yard to get close-ups. Yeah- 1994 or 5. They now have guards on duty and cannot enter the property. Inch- What you show on page 1195 is more than I will have. Thanks for all the pics you post. Ryan- We drivers with CDL and passenger endorsement got a $2 hour raise and were told we would have less hours. I'm still pulling 9 to 11 hours a day. O.T. is over $15 per hour. Ed- Re your link on page 1197- no problem, got right on . Thanks for the pictoral of N.F. You take us there with words and pictures very nicely.
Wishing all a wonderful day.
Good day all –
I hope this finds everyone in good health, and if not, at least on the mend toward it. Not much going on this weekend. Got all of my ‘to-do’ list done and am just sitting here having a little ‘jam’ session w/ the ‘air’ instruments and the local Classic Rock station. And to tell ya’ll the truth, I’m having a ball doing it!
Dick / Ed –
In a way, I am glad we’re out of the race. With all the injuries we’ve had the last 2 months, I’m sure this will make it easier on Tito to set the lineups for the last few games left this season. ESPN’s Buster Onley is reporting that this may be the off season where they get rid of Manny. Seems his agent as asked the front office to try and trade him again, not unusual for him in this request. It has happened every year since he’s been there, so why should this one be any different? I can see a lot of new faces on the team next year when they head to Florida in February. Reports are already saying that Nixon and Gonzo won’t be re-signed this winter and the team is in need of pitching at all spots – Starters, mid relief, and closers. All we can do is sit back and watch the festivities unfold as the off season gets underway next week.
Well, since I have the baseball talk out of the way (btw, does anyone know if there are any collectible HO Boston Red Sox cars, etc on the market?) I’m going to try and figure out what makes some ladies ‘tick’ Yeah, I know…don’t even try it. Problem is, I have been in daily e-mail chats with one of my co-workers for the past month + and I’m not sure if there’s something she’s trying tell me or not. Even more odd about this is that this is the longest we’ve ever talked in the 6+ yrs I have been in the office. Guess this is one of life’s little things that makes one go “hmmm.”
Maybe Lisa can give us a lady’s point of view and shed some light on this mystery of mine?
Oh well, enough of my ramblings for the day. Thanks to all for the prayers for Bo and her family.
Take care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
