Found out I have a hang uo somewhere in the new tunnel...but only in one direction...I think I will wait till monday to try to figure it out...Just had a Humming Bird hit the window by the  pewter must be alright can't see him...

Der John...Glad to have you back with us sounds like you have a lot on your plate...Look forward to more pictures when you get back to work on the layout..Do you have any goals set for the winter?

Jeff....Looks to me like you are getting so pretty good pictures with your camera what kind is it in that price range I might be able to afford one?

My news with the humming bird, its said if a bird hits your window,someone in your close family will die. One morning I was talking to my mom before going to school  and a sparrow flew into our living room window, and she sais that about someone dieing in our family, and exactly two weeks later she died. Wonder if RT had any birds stiking his windows with all his bad luck lately.

Suppose to be a better day here, sunny, high bout 60 and less wind than yesterday.
Arthritis index good , but pollened, mold count, high.
Made it through the wedding ok, but ended up bringing J Bird home with us, while mom and dad went over to check on Becky. J Bird ended up spending the night, I finaly gave up on sleeping in bed and went to the train room couch n slept bout 12.

DER,,, what kinda project are you and the Kris makeing??  I've try'ed some weeds that look like that around here for trees,  haven't had much luck so far, but still trying. Got some more from this year to play with.

Hi Guys,

Just a quick post with some pics. I have painted and added part of the forth wall of the backdrop. Yes I know, still no clouds. I'm concentrating on getting the backdrops up and then I'll add the clouds. I put in a photo of the backdrop with the two colors painted on by roller and then blended with an airbrush. Please excuse the garden tools, etc behind the backdrop!

Also put in some pic of some of the newer additions to the fleet, now that I have the new camera. Probably not too dial up friendly!

Good late evening to all, all the clocks have been set back, so we get an extra hours sleep tonight.

The big storm is now up in Quebec. We received 2.48" of rain here in the 22 hours that it rained here. What I was surprised at was the Barometric pressure, it hit a low of 29.02" here before it started to rise again. That is hurricane pressures!!!! The winds were really high along the coast and trees were toppled onto some houses. We actually had thunder and lightening this afternoon for about 20 minutes. That is not common in these northern latitudes in late October. This was one intense storm.

It just came on the Tv news...Red Auerbach, the long time coach of the Boston Celtics has died at age 89. He was the winningest coach in Basketball history.

Good Evening folks.  It’s blowing up a storm, and we are expected to get a fair soak.  However, Kris tells me the forecast (while I was out walking Rosie-the-dog ), said that in fact we may escape the worst of it here.  That’s not all bad, as I’d like to continue tomorrow the progress we made cutting out parts for the furniture project I mentioned yesterday.  Started it today, with Kris’ help as we are cutting out 4x8 sheets of plywood on a table saw with no table extensions (just an old chair with a T bar clamped onto the back on beyond the saw, and a saw horse and a flat basket on top to act as a support on the other side. Oh the joys of occasional carpentry! Get this project finished, and who knows, there may be time for trains!

 

Speaking of time, here’s a hint for those into WWII aircraft, check out the prop. Any clues?

I’ve been watching a small clump of Spirea on my walk route all summer. It has an unusually thin flower spike that I reckon will do well for layout trees. I harvested all I could get my hands on a few days ago. Here’s the result, three of the 26 or so I got, just as they came in from “the field”, less a bit of stalk and leaves.  The trunks are a bit thin (but in N it’s easier to get away with. What do you think? I just put these in experimentally a few minutes ago.

buried in museum work huh?  I know that can be tedious, but where would all of us historical train nuts be without you?

  Regrettably, the only RR link I’ve been able to find with this museum is that it’s on the site of a pulp mill that used track, (but no locos) to haul bales of pulp onto a wharf. The stacker machine ran on rail as well, but not exactly track.  Oh, there was one shipment of pulp that went to the railhead at Musquoboboit Harbour.  I found the CN car # in the Dalhousie University Archives in 1999.  That’s right, one carload in the entire history of the mill.  Comes of having your own wharf and shipping by, er ship, I guess!

Jerry: My camera is an Aiptek Pencam, VGA model. It's a three function device. It's a digital camera, a webcam and a streaming video recorder. I bought it Wal-Mart 5 or 6 years ago. I seriously doubt you're going to find one new.

My mom had a quadruple bypass in May, we moved in June to the house i'm in now, my dad's been in and out of the hospital, and had other family and friends in the hospital. I've had my hands full. today my soccer game went well. We won again, and my team is the North divison champions.

 

The highlight of the game was we had an indirect kick in the 20 yard box. hey guys I have finally completed my town area for my layout and have the roads marked for a 2nd part to it. and it looks great. I still have to add the screnry, but the buildings are inplace and I have road bed for the track done.

Got in some train time after morning chores and Bryan came over and started on some of the backround for the mill pond. I've been working on the box culvert, maybe I can it it finished tomorrow, then it'll be time for roadbed and track. Might get to run a train before long. I still need to make a new control panel yet, to run more than one train, but I'll have one going anyway.

Inch, you packed your own chute, huh? I don’t know that I’d feel comfortable enough jumping (at least, not the first few times I packed my chute) - I’d likely be nervous that I forgot/missed/messed up something - eeeeyaaaaaahhhhh!!!  (Just kidding... )  Oh, loved the “Top 10 Trick or Treat” list.

They spent more time teaching us how to pack our on chutes, than they did about jumping. The only time I did t again was when I was jumping with the Airo club. Then only had trouble once, when it deploy right, made a hard landing, but walked away.

The CFO say to get my shower, so best get moving, at least I don't have to waer a suit n tie. Catch ya'll later

Welcome to all the others. I've gotten alittle behind by not checking in yesterday.

When am I going to retire? For sure I don't know yet but I'm looking at the end of January. I've got to check the calander and add up my pills for stress and mussel relaxing. When they run out I'd better be retired.

Of course since this is Saturday I'm starting another week at work. Next weekend is the live steam meet and I will be off. The following Saturday is a train show and I will be off for that.

Well I've got to go and do something so it looks like I'm working. I'll check back in around lunch.

Good morning everyone, the big storm arrived at midnight with light showers, by 8 this morning we have 0.74" of rain, now we have 1.07" and it is raining at the rate of 0.32"/hr .
The weather reporters out of Boston said last night this storm can be likened to a 'Perfect Storm" because we have the remnants of the Pacific Hurricane that nearly drowned JEFF and others down South, then we have the Gulf of Mexico moisture streaming northward. Thirdly we have a cold HIGH over Quebec channeling cold air into this strengthening LOW, and fourthly, we have the warm Atlantic bringing huge amounts of moisture into the east coast.
So we have 4 ingredients making this a Perfect Storm from a Meteorological point of view....all I know is...is raining like h.... and the winds have really picked up and should hit over 60 mph today.

Here are the readings from my station in Central Massachusetts:
