Mother had to run up to Charleston after work , so i rode up to, and the Dog n Suds is open again for the summer. Got my first coney dog and root beer of the season.

Paul , I have some trouble with that to with the VA. Most the time a phone call takes care of it. I don't have any real complantes with them either.

Good Morning Gents

It's a fine but cool morning here but the temps are expected to get up in to the 50's today if not higher.

Well work has almosted grinded to a complete halt on the MESS as the "crew" is starting to contemplate a long summer recess. The Dogs you say, Yes, it's true I'm starting to go out and tend to two gardens, mine and Dad's. Dad has always been a keen gardener and wants one more summer in his before he sells. Unfortunately with my upcoming schedule of two Arctic trips it will be difficult. Talked to the builder yesterday and the preliminary plans will be completed by the end of the week and then if all goes according to plan building starts in September and finishes mid October. Dad's got a hearing test today, Physio tomorrow and an eye exam Thursday so I'll be chaffuering. Oh where does the time go?

Good morning everyone....another beautiful day here, 58 degrees already and headed for near 70. I have to finish all the areas we are cleaning up outside, and get everything to the "burn pile" for tomorrows 3rd and final burn. Here in our town, we need a burn permit for outside burning, it costs $10 for 3 burns, and the time limit is from January 1st to April 30th each year. You can have more burns, but you have to pay another $10 for another 3. We find that 3 normally does the job, I don't want the pile so high that our good buddies in Nova Scotia see the smoke and flames.
On the bowling front....we mamaged to hold on and win 1st place last night. We were ahead going in leading by 4 points over the 2nd place team, and had to take 4 to win, we they took 6 we were tied for 1st , or, if we lost all 8, we would have slipped to 2nd place. Luckily we won the 1st string, and by 42 pins. But we lost the 2nd and 3rd string. We did win total pins by having such a great 1st string, so we had our 4 points and now I have to plan a nice trip to LHS to spend that 1st place $$.....YES !!! Any ideas guys ????

FERGIE You are going to have one busy summer my friend!!! Two trips to the Arctic, an addition to your house and two gardens to attend to...plus all the regular yard and home stuff and the MESS as well !!! WOW!!!
The building trades must be going "wild" up in NS if they cannot start your project until September !!!!???? You will get it completed just before the snows come!!

***: We now have to have a burn permit ($5.00 each time). The season was moved up two weeks this year because of the dry winter, so started on April 1st. It goes to about mid or late October, then it's open season, no permit required until the next April.[8D]

Unscheduled chore this morning. Remove Grackle nest from Kris' mom's bathroom fan vent! The flap had blown off in the winter, and I hadn't bothered to put it back yet. Bad mistake.[B)] So now it's fixed, but I may get a new fixture as the plastic of the original is badly weathered, and there must be a reason the flap blew off.

Possibility of mmr today. Here's hoping.

Well all, just wanted to stop in and catch up on the posts. Ordered my 4 books Sat afternoon - MRP '03, MRP '06, GMR '07, and the 'How to build Realistic Layouts'
I called Kalmbach's Customer Service Dept yesterday and they said the 2 MRP's would ship out yesterday and would take about 5-10 business days. No biggie. I can wait for them.

I know some of you may be wondering 'Why MRP '03?' and the answer is simple... it has atleast 1 bookshelf layout in it and I may use that as the basis for the one I'm going to put up in one corner of my apartment. Plus, I can always use new reading material and additions to my library are always Welcomed!

Ok, so I am going to go and eat lunch now. Not sure if I'll be back in later. I discovered a heater return hose line on my Jeep has developed a 'split' and is slowly leaking out fluid. So, my project for later this afternoon is to leave early, get the part, and over to mom and dad's to have dad help me replace it (he's got all the tools!).

As for garden, 2nd floor is no problem, mount some window boxes and grow your favorite veggies. Corn is a little tough though, also pumpkins, although the pumpkins might trellis to the ground.

DER JOHN If the soil is not too good where you are, save all your bio degradeable stuff, like leaves, egg shells, nut shells, coffee grinds, anything that is bioD, and make yourself a nice compost pile. Add some soil from a farmer, or what you can purchase at a garden store etc., and add this with some lime to the pile. Keep turning it over, keep watered if it gets too hot, and when ready, plant your Zucchini. And they need a lot of water like any vine type plant.

Inch: The worst part is, most of that stuff doesn't go so well on teenagers either! There are some really foolish looking people wandering around in the city, that's why I prefer to stay out here most of the time.

JP: good luck on the heater hose, I had to do one on the side of the road one day coming back to school from college. Luckily the split was near the end, so I just cut it off and shortened the hose a little and nearly made it back in time for the bell anyway.

No time for chitchat, I'm doing what I consider one of the most loathesome activities: Ballasting my main line! It seems like in spite of my best efforts to keep the inner rails clear, ballast specks always find their way there somehow.[banghead] I guess I'm also nervous because this is a point-of-no-return as far as leveling the track - hope I don't discover any new sags [after the ballast glue dries] to cause my 89-footers to uncouple...!

Paul and the rest of you [no time to search back thru the pages] who offered ideas for coloring the Polyfil - thanx, appreciate it, I think I may have found a solution by using latex (more about that later).

Can't hang around now, I have another 70ft of track to ballast [xx(]. I'll continue offering prayers for those who need 'em. C-U later!

Matt Look to see if you have the Milton Bradley puzzle glue in your stores. It goes on white but dries clear,and its designed to be brushed over completed jigsaw puzzles and not damge the picture finish,might work for you. It's about $4 a bottle overhere.

Oh, we'v had a 3 bin compost system (about 1 cubic metre each bin) for about 6 years now. In fact our squash for the winter came from the "ready to use" bin last summer, and were magnificent. It's just that the same compost transfered to the ground and planted with Zucchini plants from the nursery didn't produce more than about 3 half sized Zs from 4 plants.[:O] [%-)] [banghead]

Usually dinner, unless it's late, say after 9 or 10 at night, in which case it's supper.
Lunch(eon) would be mid-day, although to be understood around here, we have to say dinner.[:D] [dinner]
Mike: The" Last Supper" would have been a Passover Seder, and would most likey have begun at 6:00p.m. or there abouts. Note the comment that it was night when Judas left (meaning it hadn't been when the meal began.) So, stricktly speaking "Last Dinner" would be correct.[:O] Not much chance of the title changing any time soon, however.
