Hey y'all.[:D] Some video clips for your view pleasure.[8D]

Man that was fun. I haven't been railfanning in forever.[:D] I can't wait to get another chance to go.[tup]

Matt: I've gotten some good shots of the moon as well. Planets always looked like stars. The winter cloud cover in Sykesville wasn't bad. It was the temperature that kept us in during the season because we were not really dedicated to it.

Afternoon all and Chloe how about a nice big Rootbeer float, please

*** Hope the sunshine we are having here makes it to you for your son’s wedding.

Luc Looks like some people just can’t stand retirement and it has only been what, about 2 months. You won’t be able to say that you don’t have enough time for MRR[:D][;)][:-^]

Matt Good to hear you have your dissertation done and now a little more time to work on the trams, which BTW is looking good.
Do you have pontoons for the RV for the Channel crossing??? [:D][:)][;)][:-^]

PC Thanks for the cash and now maybe I can try the retirement thing and let Luc know what it feels like again. [swg][:-^]

JP Congrats on passing the test and not a bad score BTW[tup][tup] and have a nice big one on me for doing that.

Chloe, bring a Rootbeer float over here for JimCG please, if he will join me at the corner booth and also for marcimmeker who looks to be a new face in here and you are more than welcome to join us. It is a good place with good people and a lot of info.

That’s about it
Talk to you later

Well Chloe looks like everyone's drink is on my tab,so set em up.

Good Afternoon, Chloe, I’ll have a root beer float, on Duke's tab. Thanks!

Well, we managed to survive another couple of fronts coming through Southeast Missouri this past week - including the one you probably heard of last Sunday with the category 3 that did a job on Caruthersville (south of here about an hour). We got some hail here (which for me, is always a bad indicator). But the worst of it (fortunately for us, unfortunately for those in Braggadoccio and Caruthersville, MO) went south or north. Friday, it was almost hot during the day, and then after the front moved through last night, I was debating about wearing my winter jacket/coat today. I think it’s in the low 50’s (F) this afternoon, but felt like the 40’s when I headed for the car to make grocery run this a.m. I’m sure ready for this part of spring to get past us. Let’s get on to the nice breezes instead of this [censored] wind tunnel, hail and nature’s worst... [}:)][yeah]

Indiana Bill/wetidlerjr - with all those coffee pots, we are gonna be wired in the Shop! May need you bringing in those nasty ol’ donuts just to balance off all that caffeine... [;)] Actually, after seeing that 8-pot perker you showed us, I think I’ve seen one in another coffee shop (brick and mortar kind, *not* virtual) in my past... somewhere...

***, I’d love to be able to blame my MRR’ing inactivity on the garden, but living in an apartment, all the garden I have, is in a big clay pot out back on my 10 X 10 deck.[:-^][:-^][oops] So I guess I’ll have to take the fall myself on my lack of progress. Yesterday and this morning I did get my freight cars inventoried (sort of). Set up a database last night and got most of them entered and then finished the freight cars this a.m. with my breakfast bagel. OzJim, I have 59 total (freight) cars, so go ahead and get those ones you need - I’m sure others here have way more than either of us! [swg]

Matt,
C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S!
on getting your dissertation written. I’m sure you are ready for a rest from that. Sounds like you are quite the handy-man, with all that house experience. Should make you ready for working on your model railroad, for sure. [:O][;)]

DerJohn - couldn’t tell for sure, how big is the hard drive on that one coffeepot? Will it track individual users’ preferences and make you a cappacino, and your wife a latté? [;)] I think I might have to talk with our electrical expert, ***, if I had any questions on that one! [:-^][:-^][:-^]

Ryan, good to see you in again. I heard there are some special exemptions or allowances for Katrina survivors, so you might check before you file. Maybe talk with an accountant or ask someone in your company’s accounting dept. if they’ve heard anything about it. (If all else fails, go search the IRS site...)

[#welcome]Jessie! Hope your recovery from the plumbing job proceeds more quickly than the 4077th Docs expect. I see Fergie has already answered your question on the Denial Of Stars. [:)] Ya'll come back, hear? (See, I know a smidgen of Southernese...)

Ken, those of us who appreciate your ornery smilin’ face notice when you are in here, and miss ya when you’re not! [tup] Glad you come by (almost as often as I don’t! [;)] I see the kids have you running about the same, huh? [:-^][:-^] About that electric bill - ouch!! [:O] Why is it that when they find a mistake (and it takes them a while), it’s never in your favor? Good that Vicky’s supportive for you in the middle of that - maybe she is planning to sell one of the kids off? (NOT!) And an AMEN to your thoughts on politicians and lobbyists and ‘deregulation’ theories.... As for myself, I’m just glad I’m on the 2nd of 3 floors in our building (and the south side), and the landlord replaced the antique wall air conditioner last summer with a newer (read more efficient) one. But in the summer, I’ll use some fans to circulate what A/C I have and keep the bills down, too.

I’d say, between the electric companies and the oil companies (or oil speculators or oil company stockholders, whoever they’re blaming on that now), we should HANG ‘EM ALL FROM THE YARDARM!![oX)] Aargh!! ... Ahem... figuratively speaking, of course... (just in case Homeland Security is monitoring this frequency...) [soapbox]Rant is over, we return you to your normal forum business...

Yeah, Der John:

And some of us (moi??)[;)] use more than a little more words to say something... [}:)][:-^][:-^][:-^]

OzJim, good luck with the negotiations for expanding your RR line. If you are seen being more helpful around the abode, who knows? It might influence the other side of negotiations. Of course, they also may expect it to continue for a while, but for some more space for the MRR,... [:)]

Ryan and PCarrell, when I heard about that time curiosity, I thought “Someone apparently had way too much time on their hands...” [swg] And no, I didn’t stay up for it, either.

Greg - and now botanical treatment lessons in the Shop! Amazing what you can learn in this place! [;)] I always figured the collective knowledge among the Shop members is spectacular - this just proves it! [tup]

Inch, nice pics (even if it is a shame to see the locos just sitting there). How’s JBird coming along? Hope she gets feeling better soon!

I’m going to break this into two posts - not for any stars, LOL, but ‘cause I just have too many pages to go! Good to see we hit the 1K page! [yeah]

I’ll catch up the rest of the way in a little.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau (better now that the storms appear to have moved along)

Just another quick drop by.

PhillC: Oh that's much better. Speaking of bankers, I bet mine would fall all over himself if I brought something like that in to cash.

I didn't get down to the basement last night. Mary Ann showed up dressed for bed and I just followed. I guess I'll try and get there tonight. Wish me luck.

…What, don’t you have any in your IRA?[:O] That’s about the only hedge a person has against the high prices these days. Maybe it’s a place to park any tax rebate one has coming.[8D] Of course that means not spending it on mrr. But if I said that out loud I’d probably be banned from the CS. [:-^] (Hint, visible to the select few.)

The Three Harbours Volunteer Fire Department held their monthly dinner this evening. This time it was roast pork. [dinner] Tried not to eat too much, and didn’t have dessert, even though there was sugar free fresh fruit salad. Still had a high blood sugar two hours later. It’s not fair![V]

Off to Truro tomorrow. Our younger grandson is in a hand bell choir, and it being Palm Sunday, they are on deck for the 11:00 o’clock service. So that’s where we should be.

I think I’ll call it a night in here.
Prayers continuing for those in need of healing, and Thanksgiving for the recoveries. God Bless.[angel]

RT I believ that the techical term for the tattoo is a choo choo picture. LOL thankfully the scars not long enough to allow you enough room for a Big Boy tattoo.

Hi all

Not a lot happening here, mostly sorting out stuff for Tuesday. I mostly seem to have packed power adaptors so far – chargers for phone, MP3 player, etc.

Duke, it might not be a bad idea – given the recent industrial disputes there I’m wondering if I should be looking up how to handle a ferry, mainly as a dockers strike (usually followed by the ferry crews refusing to sail) seems to be a favourite of the French unions. We’re going out Portsmouth-Caen with Brittany Ferries and returning the same way, should take about 2-3hrs less to drive to Portsmouth than Dover from here. The interesting part with Caen is that you land in the middle of the harbour seen in the WW2 film "The Longest Day" - the ferry terminal is right next to the entrance to the canal.

Jim, it’s a relief to have it finished and handed in. I think the experience works the other way around too – MRR will teach you some very useful skills, the only difference is one of scale!

Rob, the Johnson’s Klear turned out to be a disaster and ruined one of the labels. Luckily it peeled off without further damage so I’ve replaced it with one of the waterslide decals that came in the kit. Good job I only applied it to one side!

Bye for now

Hi Gang: I'm almost affraid to post this. We're down toward the bottom of the page. With my luck the drinks will be on me. I'm at work again. The mornings go pretty fast when I'm getting the park ready, but the afternoons kindof drag unless I can come up with a little project. Thie\s afternoons project is to make a mold of a wine bottle so I can cast some out of resin. They have been using real bottles but as you may have guessed the little darlings break them. If they are used as the script says to use them it's no problem. It's when they adlib that the problem comes up.

Lunch is microwaved corny dogs. If you put enough mustard on them they are almost edible. Noticed I said almost.

I ran the 2-10-2 last night. after adjusting a dip in the grade it took 28 empties up the grade with some slippage. I looked at the exploded parts drawing and it didn't show a weight in the boiler. I will have to look into that. Read that take the locomotive apart. GROAN. Has anyone out there done that to a 2-10-2? I guess I'll post that question on the main forum.

Well I think that I'll go and do just that. So Long For Now.

Hi...Ummm, am I in the right place? This is still the coffee shop isn't it? How has everyone been?

I came back in time for the celebrations, woohoo!

Well, my mom gets her new leg this Tuesday (April 11). She has warned anyone that gets in her way will be "kicked out of her way" by her. lol!

Oh, please pray for my dad. He has been having chest pains the past few months. They are not very severe pains, but still it is near his heart. He went last week and had a stress test done. We'll know more on the 17th of this month.

Btw, can anyone pronounce this word?
Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis This is the longest word in the english language.

Well, I came, I replied, I left. See y'all later.

I’m back again, Chloe - a root beer float, please. [:)]

First off, a big T H A N K S ! to Elliott for starting us up here in the Shop! [bow][bow][bow] We all appreciate having the place to play in stop and visit in.

NC and JBCA - [#welcome] to the Shop! I think I missed when you guys first came in. [oops]
NC, check your local library - some of them (like ours here) carry MR magazines, and you can start reading even before your issue gets in. Also good for finding some older issues, depending on how long they’ve been carrying it (if they do). And pay no attention to the iNvisible modelers out there - you just stick with Horribly Oversized (as they call us)... [yeah]

KenM, good to see you in again, though I haven’t been the most regular here myself (unless you count every 8-9 days as regular, that is). Add my prayers for Miae to all the others who already have mentioned. [angel]

Greg, hope your prom was a lot of fun for you both. Sounds like you had good sense in picking who to go with. [:)] Nice truck, too! [tup]

Ryan - RDC’s are Rail Diesel Cars (made by Budd), sort of a cross between a stainless steel passenger car with a diesel engine stuck under it. They have a hump in the top where the exhausts are, and the engineer’s controls are at either end, so he/she can just go to the other end and switch over the controls to return back up the track where the car came from. If Ed hasn’t already posted a link, you can see more on them at one of these places:

http://www.budd-rdc.org/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budd_Rail_Diesel_Car

a virtual tour of an RDC here:
http://www.sisterbetty.org/rdc/index.htm

and photos of ‘em here:
http://www.trainweb.org/passengercars/Indices/RDC1.htm

RedGrey, [#welcome] and have a cup on me, too! Stay safe over there and stop in here when you can. [tup]

PC - yep, He is good! Sounds like a great spectacular day! I’m sure your friend probably enjoyed the day, also. [swg]

Matt, that tram looks great, and should look even better when you get all the parts installed on it! [yeah] Great to hear you now have the dissertation turned in and done - now you get to enjoy a little vacation! Have fun on your trip, and I hope you find some good stuff in a LHS or two while you’re on the ‘continent’.[yeah] Oh, if you get a ferry pilot job, make sure the folks you work with know how to shut the doors before you pull away from the dock - been too many lately where someone forgot to close the ‘sea doors’(?) and waves get water into the ferry ‘til it sinks. We do NOT want that again, and definitely not for you!

DerJohn! C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! - and congrats to your daughter for winning on her birthday, too! [yeah] Sure does seem... interesting?... that all you Halifaxians (?) are connected with the winning here lately... [hmmm][:-^][:-^] Thanks for the root beer float yesterday afternoon, too.

Groannnn! As for your secret message (had to dig out my secret decoder ring to read it), I’m still working on the IRA, due to having changed jobs (and college majors) and getting divorced and having to replace cars, and... a few other things along the years. So I’m still playing catch-up. Maybe I’lll have to consider that secret message after all... I am for now, I know. But if they keep raising gas and electric prices, even that might not help enough! [:O] Ah, life would be so much easier if I only had the source code... (to borrow a phrase).

Inch, better take care of yourself and do what the doctors recommend to get you going back up to usual again. I’m sure JBird will want to visit before long! And let the boys get that fence put up - no helping them just yet, okay?

RT - good to see you’re back, and don’t push yourself for a while. Nice and easy does it... (I think Woody Guthrie or someone like that said that in a song...) Good to hear that we came in ahead of eBay on your list. [;)][yeah] From your pic, almost looks like your chest got braces! [swg] Have they taught you how to interface that with DCC yet? [(-D][:-^]
Maybe you could work on your tan by lolling around the pool out back here at the Shop. [;)] I understand we have Chloe & Zoe to thank for getting the pool dug out and installed in time for summer here, and cousin Vinnie, ‘Da Muscle Man’, who did the digging. I overheard him saying something about how he has “lots of practice at that...” [:O]

RT, you were talking about Duco being MIA lately - reminded me that we haven’t heard from Lupo in even a longer time. Anyone heard what he’s been up to? Last I heard (I think) he was talking about coming here to the States to ...visit?... work?... I’d have to go back through the posts to find out, but I believe someone offered him temporary lodging, but I don’t recall just who that was. (Goodness, it’s bad when the memory starts to go...[;)])

[}:)][;)] Sounds like your #2 has a good head on him, to surprise his bride-to-be with that carriage ride! (okay, by now she’s his bride, but you get my drift...)[;)] Anyway, my belated congratulations to them, and at least as many years together as his father and mother!

Scott, I’m with you - can’t wait for the 2nd Coffee Shop anniversary, just to watch all the goings-on around here. Flip, have you placed your order for a steak with your butcher (just in case, of course!)? [(-D]

Well, son-of-a-gun,Lupo! Thought you had slipped off the edge of the earth! Good to see you’re still around, lurking or not. [yeah]

Phillip - now, if I can get my bank to accept those bills as electronic payments for some of my bills and deposit the rest into my account... [sigh]

Ah, the old ‘wear them down’ trick! [swg] Every extra couple or four of feet helps (where is my metric conversion table?). [tup]

Jerry - will be keeping Sally’s Mom and Dad both in our [angel][angel].

LilRob - [#welcome] back. Will keep your Dad (and anyone your Mom kicks with the new leg) in my prayers. Hopefully whatever the doctors find out on your Dad will be easily treatable. And I hope that long word isn’t what they tell him he has - that’d be a bear to say when people ask “What did they say you have?”

Got to get going - I hope to hear from one of my friends this afternoon. She and another of my friends got married a couple of weeks ago, and they’re in process of moving into his (already fairly full) house. Saw her Friday and she asked if I would like to have her 21 inch TV (uh... yeah!) - ‘cause the other friend (retired Army) she married, already has one of those huge ones in the living room of their ‘new’ house. Hey, if it has a remote, it’ll be a step up for me - my current TV (not sure of the size - 19inches?) I have to go across the room to turn the TV on/off, even though I can control the sound (via my stereo) and channel (via the VCR the TV feeds into) by remotes. Of course, I may need one of those ‘remote boats’ to hold all of them, but I think I can manage... [;)]

Everyone take care, and keep those Doctor’s appointments for yourselves/your family members! Let’s keep everyone healthy and out of the hospital, now that we’re starting to get some relief from the weather this spring. [yeah][:)]

Blessings,

Afternoon all, Coffee please Janie,
Well the fence is up, still got a few little odds n ends to finish up, close enough today for goverment work.
Grandsons are coming down Tuesday afternoon for a few day, and their mom has given them their marching orders allready, and most the time they are good help.

LIL ROB , watch that wooden leg, they hurt. Have no idea on the word, whats it mean.

Paul , We get frozen County Fair brand corny dogs up here. Their purty good , better deep fried though.

Jerry , Rob, and all in need, We'll keep your famailys in our thoughts n prayers.

Think I'll take Jerry's advice and play with some trains, after a napp. No more than I've done, I'm wore out

Hello

Now I got the new cam to take moving pictures, then I set it up on a flat car, it fits very nicely, and ran it around the tracks at a slow speed. Turned out pretty good. So now I have to clean up the table, some minor setup, then figure out how to download the it to the 'puter and come up with some sort of presentation that I can post here and before long you'll have a tour of Gloetown....[tup][tup]

LilRob - Good to see you again. Hope mom and dad do well on those appointments, we'll be thinking of them.

RT - Take it easy, don't push yourself too much.

The word is a veterinarian term. The short version is: inhaling very, very, very, small particles of silica dust.

Have any of you ever tried the chili cheese flavored corndogs? Delicious! I think it's State Fair brand.[8D][:D][:)]

Hello hello hello. How y'all doing?

Man, I went roller skating last night. It was pretty fun. Although, I have to practically scrape off my wheels now...They're covered in all kinds of stuff. The floor was so dirty...I almost fell a few times because my wheels just so happened to loose their traction more than once over a piece of candy wrapper. And I was told to quit "showing off" by a pair of girls who were basically attitude on wheels. It's not my fault they can't skate like me, is it?[:p] So I told them that I paid to get in, and I was going to skate how I wanted.[:D]

PC: Thanks a bunch for the billion.[tup] One can never use too many of those.[8D]

OzJim and Inch: Glad y'all like the videos.[:)]

LilRob: Hey! I can pronounce Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. As well as antidisestablishmentarianism, and hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia is the fear of big words, by the way.[;)]

My great grandfather passed away because he had pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. He was a miner. I never had the pleasure of meeting him.

Jim in CG: What can we accomplish in 2000 more pages??? Hmm...What exactly have we accomplished in the original 1000???[:p]

Hi Gang: Just a note before going to bed.

LillRob: Good to see you back in the fold. Sorry to hear that you dad is having pains. Even if they arn't real bad they can worry a body no end. Tell him to get it checked out and not to worry. I know that's hard to do. My best to your mom also.

Chuck & Kathy: You guys are sure having a rough time of it. We're all pulling for you. I'd like to see some pictures of that saw mill when you get it finished.

Would you guys cut it out with those long words? I have trouble getting along with the simple stuff. You know cat, dog, rinonoseressous.

Well I'm going to hit the sack. No MRRing for tonight.

Good Night All
