greetings all,

Well managed to drop by today for a short visit. A lot has been happening here. I guess I should start by saying it looks like Mom and me will be making our home in Hattiesburg, Ms. We signed a contract to purchase some land there. It is 3 1/2 acres with an old wood frame house and two out buildings on the property. I plan to move the big house back on the property and remodel it for mom and me to live in for the time being. Once there I will build our home on the site where I moved the big house from.

We have a couple that are mentally changelled that we have adopted. One of the buildings on the property was a apartment that I will remodel for them. These are good people that tend to be used by every one that they come in contact with. We figured we can stop that if we adopted them.

Once our house is built we will then move them into the big house. They will live there for as long as they want to.

Hattiesburg has three major railroads that come through. The NS, KCS, CN, and Amtrak.

There is a railroad museum at McComb Ms. and I managed some photos of some old ICRR stuf.

This is an aluminum reefer and is the only one built.

ICRR 4-8-2 Heavy Mountain # 2542 displayed at the museum.

More bad news: Mom's Father passed away this past week. He left home early that morning to go take care of some business. When he didn't come home that evening they started looking for him. He had gone back to the old family property and they found him setting under a large live oak. It was like he knew he was going home. He was 89.

Bout all I have at this time.

Hello all!

Just popping my head in to say Hi.  Just got back but I have to run out to Monongahela, PA to visit my flight surgeon for my annual check up. The only good thing about sitting in the right seat is not having to do this twice a year.

See you all tomorrow.

Well we got the second line done today but if it could go wrong today it did . The worst I guest is that the PTO shaft on the farm truck now is L shape as it bent as it busted off the truck today while trying to lift the bed to dump some dirt.

well time to get some rest wore out later all

inch, if you get the chance to make it to the Illinois Railway museum, I would highly suggest you do. They have, in my opinion at least, one of the best collections that actually operates regualarly. They have numerous diesel locomotives and cars that are running at different points in time, depending on the schedule that day. It's pretty neat really.

Well, I better get going, I've got lots of things to do today. We'll see you guys around,

Good morning! Cup of coffee this morning for me, still need a jolt to wake up. And some more of Ed’s fresh squeezed OJ please; I feel a sore throat and runny nose trying to break through.  Grumpy [|(]

Ben has started playing in the school band, and he will play the clarinet, he is now practicing on it every night at least 30 minutes a day. He also plays electric guitar and the trumpet at home, and seems to enjoy creating sounds and learning new songs. Whistling [:-^]

No train work last night, too many errands and chores after work yesterday. I had to make a run to the local music store to pick up the music books and some supplies for Ben’s music class. Then once home I tried to repair the rear view mirror that came unglued from the windshield on the pick’em up truck. Ended up just throwing it on the floor board… Banged Head [banghead] will try again later when it is not so hot outside.

Tropical storm Beryl is about 180 miles off the coast of North Carolina and is supposed to head back out toward the north east today and tomorrow. Hopefully it will stay away from land as the forecasters are predicting. Sigh [sigh] of relief…

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] back DerJohn! And who is who in that photo?? LOL, my guess is that you are on the left side….

Too bad about the peanuts and edamame Inch! Both are very nutritious and a great source of protein without the fat.

Dick, no basements here either, the train room is in a third floor room that was converted from an original attic space. It is fully built out with electric outlets, ceiling fan, carpet, central AC/heat, and I just put in a window AC unit too. That pool sounds like a refreshing way to get through this heat wave... and a nice way to stay cool… Cool [8D]

Noah, nice rail pictures you got there! Thanks for sharing them with us. Thumbs Up [tup]

LilRob, seems the forum code for highlights is still not up to speed. But I like the effect of scrolling over and seeing the highlight, neat effect.

Hey, PC, nice of you to drop in! Don't be a stranger OK!

DUKE: You must have version "6" of Internet Explorer because ver 7 is not out yet to the public. It will be included with the new operating system called VISTA , which will replace Xp in January. I have ver 7 because I am Beta testing it for Microsoft, looking for bugs, which I have found, however, ver 7 looks much stronger than ver 6 security-wise, and also has some very nice features that other browsers have now.

We have some real bad TS's moving east just south of us right now, severe wind damage in some towns with trees down and power outages and large hail.

To make matters worse, a 16" water main has broken in Boston flooding streets and businesses. Water pressure is so low that the Boston fire dept has alerted neighboring towns to stand ready to assist in case of a fire. A New Hampshire boring Co. was drilling borings and must have hit the pipe....someone is going to be very embarrased.

Evening Gang: It was 107+ a little today. At 8pm it was still 106f. It's supposed to cool off this weekend. They are even saying that we may get some thunderstorms late Saturday and Sunday.

Noah: It sounds like you had a great trip. I'll look at the pictures tomorrow when I'm at work and have the hi speed conection.

Duke: I tried to do the gifs on the old sight but never could get the hang of it. On the new site here it is very straight forward and easy. As I said I'll probably drive you all nuts with them. I'll get a photobucket account and give the pictures another try. It maybe a while but I'll give it a try.Smile [:)] I agree with you on that old dog thng. I feel foolish sometimes. Evening all and Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the newbies

Dick Yes,I do get all of the drop downs and I am trying with this post to see if some things can be done something like the old way. I’m not sure what version of ( IE) I have, I think it is 7 but I am also using XP.

Glad you liked the pics and I hope you get a chance to look at the web site and it would be nice if they would have another run.

Paul I see you have started to put some smilies in and next is pics. I have found that Photobucket was easier for me because all you have to do is copy the line with [IMG ] and then paste to where you want to put it.

Well that’s about it and now to see if everything works.  It didn't!!

Der John, glad to see you made it back to the new forums in one peice. Sounds like you had a good little vacation too, getting to see the EMD plant and all, even if it was just from the outside.

Fergie, glad to see you made it back too. I assume the MESS was as MESSy as every when you arrived home?

I got a chance to do a little traveling on Sunday myself. I went down to Illinois to the Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois for their diesel days celebration. They had a bunch of old diesel locomotives running around that they saved from the scap yard, and they were giving rides throughout the day too. I've got only two of my many photos up so far, but here they are:

http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=151734

http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=151591

I also got to catch a METRA commuter train away from the Museum at Harvard, Illinois:

http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=151589

I also got to do a little railfanning this morning. I caught a Union Pacific Ballast train loading at their quarry in Rock Springs Wisconsin. He had a GE unit on the point, which is quite rare on this line. Normally all we get is two or three SD40-2s. Here's a shot of the train:

http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=151735

Well I better get going, I've got a lot of stuff to do yet today in the way of modeling. I've been kind of slacking on working on my model related stuff lately, so it's time to get going before summer runs out on me!

Richard: OK. So how are you Willie? Actually your name Dick is coming through all right now.

Der: Maybe they're waiting for the parts from Athern.

Fergies going to the arctic. Man what a woss. Actually I'll be there thursday. I'd like an outside cabin and don't forget the little chocolate on the pillow.

I know that some of us are having trouble with the new system, but with alittle help from Bergie I've been doing all right. It is taking alittle time and effort, but I'm learning. I'll try posting a picture soon.

Got to go and help Mary Ann take care of the animals. She and son John took some calves to the sale barn. She did pretty well. She's happy so I'm happy. Smile [:)]

See you all later.
