Morning all,

JAMES,  Sorry to hear about one of your fellow players. Sometimes fast is best. The team and his family will be in our prayers.

RT,  Nice load on that flat.

Hope every one faired well on all the nasty weather. No rain or snow here. We missed that part of it, but it is cold with a heavy frost this morning.

Made another trip to Hattiesburg yesterday. Got a lot done there. But got a long way to go. Had some modifications to do on the travel trailor before hauling it to the other house. Should complete that today. Will probibly pull it to MS. next week. Will spend a few days on the road when we do.

Later all........Neal

NESU: Sounds like you're getting everything in order there. It's nice that you have time to do it all. I've had to make some moves that I had to be there immediatly and there was no time to move anything. I would have to go back and pick up what I could later.

James, a heartfelt sorry on your buddy. Did he have a wife and kids? That always makes it even harder, for those close to them. Show your support and keep a stiff upper lip.

Going to Sparta Wi, today there's a club there with a really nice layout and today is their open house. They are right next to the CP main line, they even have a old spur along the club house, the building  use  to  belong to the railroad and then the Gas com.

We missed all the snow, my hometown of West Allis Wi, got 12inchs! we are 200 miles west and had nothing ?

James, That had to be hard to see, and I'm sorry to hear it. Your buddies age really strikes me, as my Dad is 49. That's far to young..... I'll keep both you and your friend's family in my prayers.

Fargo, Sparta, huh? Been there many a time on a railfanning adventure or two, but I didn't know there was a model railroad club there. Where in Wisconsin are you? I'm down in Reedsburg (on the old CNW Elroy Sub). Unfortunately no snow for us though, and I had been really kind of wanting some. I want to go railfanning with some deep snow on the ground and get a few christmas card photos here sometime. But winter is still young, and we are do for some good deep snow sometime.....

James - i'm sorry to hear about that. I hope that you, and all of his friends and family can remember the good times that were had, and not dwell too long on their sadness.

James: I'm sorry to hear about your friend. That must have been a real shock. I'll be saying a prayer for him and his family.

Thanks RT, I needed that. The construction equipment looks good. Too many times folks will put one or two machines on a car when there is space and losd limit for more. Companys would rarely ship less than a full car load of equipment.

I went over to the track and had a ride around. They had 3 steam loclmotives running. My son had my locomotive fired up but I didn't feel like running it. I guess I'm getting old.

Well I'm going to see what we can do about supper. John and his wife are coming over after he gets the locomotive put up. We'll all go out and get something, on daddy of course.

JEFFERY, been there before, don't want to again. We are not going to sell the house here until the house in MS. is complete and we are moved in. This will be my last move I pray. Getting to old for this kind of thing. Want to settle down and play trains and watch trains. Might even consider setting on the front porch an rocking the day away.I worked seven days a week all my life and now I want to enjoy it.

Neal: I hear you on the working part! I've held down jobs in three different countries, the US, Germany and France. Some of those were night jobs. I worked the graveyard shift for 15 years.

JEFFERY, last job I had where I punched a clock was in 64. Always worked commission jobs or independent consult jobs since then. As an IC I worked from four or five in the morning, till ten to eleven at night seven days a week. Of coarse the money was great during those times. I quit working for other people in 95 and came home to stay. Since then we have relied on the rental business for income. All I have left to sell is the trailor park and the house. Every thing else has been sold. I will probibly sell the park after the first of the year. Have to wait because of Uncle Sam.

Neal: I know what it's like working on commission, I did that that in the insurance business for 8 years. I also worked as an asst office administrator during that time and as a computer tech/programmer for ten years. There was another ten years that I worked a paper route for $1200 a month, plus assorted jobs overseas and some odd jobs.

Yes, that was according to "Deep Thought"!  And don't forget your towel!

As to where 0.74 comes from,.....maybe that was what the new computer (Earth) was going to answer before it was destroyed to make way for the galactic super hiway.  Other then that, you got me!

Earth was supposed to figure out the Ultimate question to the ultimate answer of Life, the Universe and Everything.  We've gotta keep those blasted mice away from Mr. Dent though... they've already tried lobotimizing him once....

on to a trains topic.... how good are Rivarossi locos (pulling and looks wise)?  I continually see them going for $50+ on ebay, and they look really nice... but I'd rather have a little more knowledge about them before putting my money against them (especially since the sellers either don't seem to know much about MRRing or they want to just sell the item).

I'm not the one to ask as I went down that road three years ago and realized I'd better get someone to do it for me. At great cost I got several hundred decals that met more than my needs and expectations.

Good morning to you too!

Yeah, I did yellow on black on a laser printer and it came out good.  It was the clear coat that got me.  You have to mist it on in several layers or the colors bleed.

Yeah, I've done yellow on black. It worked well as long as it was going onto flat black.

Well, I just got quite a surprise! I went down to my parent's house to do my laundry and found there was no water. Being that they are out of town right now I thought that they had turned the water meter off. Upon checking it, I see that it's running like a bat out of he**. That tells me one thing, there's a broken pipe somewhere. I went through the house looking and listening but found nothing. I then went around the outside of the house. Do you know how long it takes to check the ground area around a 4,800 sq.ft house? After ten minutes I found it. It's a section of pipe that runs under the pump for the swimming pool. There was water just surgeing up out of the ground. There's a cutoff for that part of the house somewhere, but I couldn't find it. I just had to turn the meter off and cut all the water off. I ended up taking the laundry to my sister's house to be done.

Another surprise is that I just found this place on page two. One exciting day so far.

Jeff,

So do you have to dig up around the pool to shut off the water?  Do they have a basement?

Well the decals are printing just fine, but when I put them on the hoppers they are too transparent and the yellow doesn't show up very well.  I'm using an ALPS MD-1000, and I've tried a few different settings.  Any suggestions?

I print mine on onion skin paper and apply them with a thin layer of white glue.

No basement there. Those are almost unheard of in this part of the country. But we will have to dig up the area around the pool pump, as it cannot be moved. The break is between the pump and the house, a space of about 10 inches.
