Not much new stuff. I just have a 5 day weekend after Halloween, since My school is doing conferences next week. tommorow is train day. I'm destined to finish painting merchants row one, and get started on my frieght depot.

overall, i think that today has been rather abysmal....

It's kind of disappointing that I don't have any free time this weekend... I'd sure love to get started on the benchwork for my planned layout...

Hello again from Nova Scotia, Thanks for the concern, but I'm not Missing In Action so much as missing in in-action.

Actually the inaction has been towards mrr, not total inactivity.  As Dick says, I’ve been very wrapped up in museum records work.  It’s quite time consuming and requires a fair bit of research as well.

Now there is a furniture building project for which I’ve finally bought the lumber, after putting it off all summer.  So that’s going to keep me out of the train room for a while as well, except to get tools.

  However I did get two decoders replaced by Digitrax re-installed in their locos, and am glad to say those are now working again just fine.

 

Well, as it’s after midnight here, it’s time to say , and God Bless.

Don’t forget to put the clocks back an hour tomorrow night.

Jeff: Nice tanker! You pick it up at the LHS the other day? The E Diesel, ahhh, I thought it was an F unit. Not into Diesels too much yet, excuse the ignorance Jeff.

Well, it's 12:20 here, and my eyes are tired, so I'm calling it a day.

My son just got called out on a fire in town , 2nd floor of house all ablase......my wife gets all nervous when hes out on a call, so we'll have the scanner on for while for sure.

Jeff, have the coffee ready ready in the morning, we have your big rain storm hitting us now, rains just starting, 50-60 mph winds all day today and heavy rains by mid morning, 3-4" expected. Good day to read Trains and MRR mags that arrived in mail yesterday.

Grayfox: The tanker is made by Atlas. It has super detailing. It's the first Atlas item I've bought since the 80's.

You think you're getting rain now? Haa! If it does to you what it did to us, you'll see more rain than you'll ever want bto see again. We got 4 1/2 inches in 5 hours, with 1/2 of it coming in 45 minutes! One more day of rain and we would have been in real trouble for sure!

Mornin all, coffee and a couple doughtnuts Janie. Og Jeff brought these in, well ok, I'll chance it.
Got 38 outside now , suppose to be a dry, sunny day, highs in the 50's. But with gusty NW winds, 20 to 30 mph sustained, gust to 50. Arthristis and pollen indexs high, no wonder I'm dragging this morning.
Didn't do anything on the layout last night. I set down on the couch and fell asleep after supper.

Well, it occured to me the other day that you all hadn't seen my new house all finished up.  Well, I was just outside and I took this pic for you all.  Whaddya think?

It's 3000 sq. ft. with a gas fireplace, state of the art kitchen, four bedrooms, dining room, library, two living rooms (one up and one down), and all of the latest in energy savings goodies like lo E glass and such.  Theres also a good sized pond out back.  All for $150,000 bucks.  Not bad if you ask me.

BillT, you have to watch out about setting those donut boxes down on the top of your car when you’re getting out before coming into the CS - certain people grab ‘em and haul the donut boxes inside. Just can’t wait to get into the donuts, I suppose...

Hey, TexasRailNut (aka LilRob2005, aka RDL...) - good to see you back in the Shop! Sorry (or should I be?) to hear you’re needing/having to move again. Hopefully, one more move and you might have room for a layout.

OzJim, hope the train show is a great one! We’ll be awaiting your pics.

Ryan - I wish I was making as much progress as it may sound like I’m doing on my layout. But I’ve been nailing down track, then realizing I didn’t drill the push rod holes (so I have to take the nails and track up), then trying to tighten up the track joints, (re-)nailing the track down, then on to the next section. So it’s not as far along as you may think I’m making. But the net result is, I’m getting closer... I’ll see about posting my progress report later today, hopefully. Before long, I might actually be ready to do some scenery and ballasting (but not the 1:1 stuff like Colby was getting the sore back from doing).

Jeff, that new tank car looks *totally* too clean - you need to weather that, add some oil leaks on the side, etc. Nice pics of that E6, too!

to the Shop, TrainMaster (David)! Got any ideas yet for your future layout (scale, time period, specific RR(s) you want to model)? Enjoy the CS here, and have a beverage on me! And good to hear the bully got busted . Looks like you’re getting lots of help on the computer stuff from Jeff.

also to Dan/NeO6874 ! Hey, no problem if you’re not great on coffee - Chloe, Zoe  and/or Flo can fix you up with other things (like Mtn. Dew, Dr. Pepper, etc.). Just ask ‘em for one on me. Sounds like you’ve been infected with the MRR bug, all right. Good to hear that you have the desire (and hopefully, the patience) to take the slower (but more detailed and realistic-looking) approach. Der John, It's good to see you again, been a while! I know what you mean though about work getting to you, I've been really busy with school as of late and haven't been in here as much as I would like either.

PC, very nice looking house! Now I hope you left enough room in the basement for a decent sized layout.....

Well guys, good news on my MRR front at least. With the past few days of from school I've been putting in some time on the layout, and I actually got the thing up and running again to the point where I was able to run a few operation sessions! Nothing big, just did some switching, but considering that my DCC system had been acting up and not running right when I started working on it on Wednesday, I'm happy! I've still got one locomotive sidelined with motor problems, but otherwise things are working well.

I suppose I better get going. I'm going railfanning tomorrow again over towards the Milwaukee way, so I've got stuff that I need to finish up today. We'll see you guys around.

Thanks, but nope, no basement.   Can't have one on the water.  But I do get the fourth bedroom!   It's 10.5x15, so it's a big step up from the 9x9 I used to have!  And since I model N scale, it's room for a small empire!

Hey, OKMike, while the name sounds sort of familiar, I don't think that's me. But it could be one of our local MRR club members. I live in an apartment and only know one of my current neighbors (they seem to come and go in the 3-4 years I've been here). If I know the Rodriquez's, it's only by name, I think. One friend from another big church here in town sometimes sends forwards, and I've seen that name (I think) in the list of addresses.

Besides, my place is a bit of a mess currently, so haven't (that I know of) had anyone looking at my (tiny) 2.5 foot X 8 foot current setup. Here's sort of the plan:



although the transition from the 2 foot width to the 2.5 foot is a curve on the layout.
Also, the buildings are subject to change, since some are still to be kitbashed/built.

But that's a fair representation of the current design.
