No, the classification yard is planned for the future--tops on my 'to do' list as soon as I can move a bunch of stuff from the other wall of the garage.  The yard at Deer Creek is mainly for locomotive change-over from valley to mountain power.  What little switching is done there is done by my 2-8-0's.  However, once the big yard is installed, I'll be in the market for some of those clever little Rio Grande or SP 0-6-0's.  I kind of miss not having a couple, but right now I wouldn't have a lot of work for them, LOL!

Tom,

I've three steam switchers: two Hallmark's SP (T&NO) C-24 Consolidations (used as switchers by the prototype with footboards and ladders on front) and a Challenger SP 0-6-0 with "sausage" tender (imported with several tender variations).  The C-24 sells at a reasonable price ($300?) on the used market.  The Challenger model is much pricier ($1000?), and those versions with blue or green boilers (used in passenger yards) demand a premium ($1200?).

Mark

At those prices, I'd have my roster fully fledged out with every loco I want. GOOD LORD! Of course, it's brass.....

Most of my engines are Athearn chassis and shells with can motors, NWSL wheels, Ernst slow speed gearing, and LokSound decoders.  Even the Spectrum 44 & 70 tonners have been tinkered with to improve performance.

As you can see, some of these are still in the shop and waiting for decals and stripes.  Bachmann did me a favor in releasing those little tykes with the black & yellow paint job!

Thats a nice looking fleet with the paint.

The logo should include something like--" Route of the Yellowjackets" for some reason---Whistling

I'm going into the mode of trying to figure out what colours the lokes on my roster are going to be----I like what i see in your set up!!!Bow

I have seen this type of thread pop up many times in the last several years.  Each time, I wished that I had pictures to post of my fleet of customized engines.  Well, this time I went to the basement and took some photos to share!  Big Smile

Most of my engines are Athearn chassis and shells with can motors, NWSL wheels, Ernst slow speed gearing, and LokSound decoders.  Even the Spectrum 44 & 70 tonners have been tinkered with to improve performance.

2 Proto 1000 RS-2's Canadian National

I've never seen a Proto 1000 RS-2 in CN.  Did you paint them in CN colours?

CP had RS-2s, but CN never did.

That was an error. The RS-2's are Canadian Pacific, not Canadian National.

Green = Sound equipped

I might be the only BN modeler who doesn't have any SD40-2s, C30-7s, or Gp38-2s.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

I'm betting I'll take the prize for smallest roster right now, since I'm just getting back into the hobby after a long absence, and all my old stuff was donated to a local club years ago. Right now, my roster stands at two:

(1) Proto 2000 E-6A, undecorated (destined to become Seaboard Coast Line No. 509)

(2) Athearn U33B No. 1733 (destined to become SCL U36B original No. 1776 -- this is the "bumblebee" scheme 1776, which operated for about 8 months in late 1970-early 1971 before being renumbered to make room on the roster for the red, white and blue 1776, which was built in 1971).

I'm in the process of acquiring detail parts for superdetailing these locomotives. I'll post before, during and after pictures when the projects are completed.

Also on order, and due in June, is a third loco:

(3) Broadway Limited Imports Blueline E-7A, undecorated. This will likely be the only locomotive I buy new. The rest will come from eBay, Yahoo's HO Yardsale and train shows and swap meets.

Finally, I have six Athearn U33B shells which I recently purchased on eBay for the princely sum of $12 (including shipping). Some of these may be cut up for kitbashing projects, but I plan to buy underframes, power trucks, cabs and A-line Athearn repowering kits for at least three of them to add to my SCL U36B roster.

Ultimately, I'm shooting for two to four passenger locomotives and 10-16 freight locomotives, all from SCL's roster circa late 1970.

Bill

SCL black, ACL purple, SAL green or cream, FEC yellow and red, Southern green... and that's what I like about the south!

A RoundHouse 4-4-0 and 2-6-0. And you say you don't have a bit roster. Have fun building up your roster.

2 Proto 1000 RS-2's Canadian National

I've never seen a Proto 1000 RS-2 in CN.  Did you paint them in CN colours?

CP had RS-2s, but CN never did.

Right now I don't have a whole lot of locomotives, but then again I'm living in an apartment and don't actually have any permenant track to run them on.

I've got:

2 Genesis SD70MACs, BNSF

1 Atlas C424, MNNR (needs to be lettered)

1 Athearn SD40-2, DME (needs to be lettered)

1 RPP SD9043, undecorated

1 trackmobile, demo paint scheme

1 MDC shay, no reporting marks

The SD70MACs and the trackmobile are the only ones that came prepainted, and they're also the only finished locomotives I have.  I should probably fix that.

I've also got a switcher scratchbuilding project that I'm working on, but that's got a while to go before it can actually run.
