Good Morning---looks around AFTER he says this---oh good---the catapault had some restraints placed on it ---whew.Whistling

We're at 2C right now going to a high of 18C in the SunshineSmile,Wink, & Grin Lots more o' this sun for the weekend forecast for us as well----Smile,Wink, & Grin

Neighbour came over this evening---tells us that there was an 'incident'. Said 'incident' involved 2 police officers getting swarmed by roughly 100 people over 2 fellows getting arrested for trespassing. This escalated into several arrests and several more police officers getting into the fracas apparently. He's not too sure what exactly happened but the problem seems to be centered around complaints of trespassing getting a little more frequent in this one area---there are two High Schools within a block of each other and a Methodone clinic within this block, plus a coffeehouse for individuals who have mental health issues as well as other issues ----and now the trespassing issues on top-----oh joyShockDead All we could say was---what happens if you mix good weather, High School kids who smoke(and can't smoke on school property and yet are between classes), a few frustrated business owners, noon hour, several frustrated methodone clinic patrons, and a very concentrated set of other issues?ConfusedSigh----neighbour is glad he only had a drunk to deal withSighWhistling---

Good thing that this doesn't occur a lot up hereWhistling

Anyways y'all have a good weekend. This little puppy is getting ready for a busy weekend---seeyabyeSmile,Wink, & Grin

* Opens door slowly....looks around carefully. Pie catapault looks to be parked harmlessly in the corner...*

Good evening, Chloe? A tall glass of 7-Up please, and thankyou.

Well, we had a little excitement in Clarence this evening. About 930, an eastbound freight (possibly Marshalltown - Clinton, not sure) stopped to pick up a repaired Bad Order off the siding alongside the old Land 'O Lakes Feed mill. One wheel on a locomotive went on the ground. An hour later, we get paged for a "train derailment on the east edge of Clarence." The disp. said something about checking to see if traffic control was needed.

Get to the station, and our preacher and another guy jump in the brush truck and take off. Stan, the Lowden section foreman is trying to tell them "hey, it's no big deal up there." He's quite...irked. Seems the UP got him out of bed to go and look at things. "Once the bosses started showing up...I left," he said. Seeing no need for the Fire Dept. to respond, he left for home. The rest of us stood around at the station enjoying the starry sky. Our Chief, who works at that complex, responded to the scene and moved a leaky anhydrous amonia tank that was bugging the RR guys.

A few of our responding firemen said they were fearing the worst enroute to the station. We'd just been paged for a derailment, and a westbound was blasting into town. They had visions of one train hitting another. But, the actual problem was off on the siding, no traffic issues, no HAZMAT issues...no issues for us...so back home we go. The loco was rerailed, and it sounds like they're just about ready to continue east to Clinton, and a crew change.

Just another day (night) in paradise.

Good night, all...and a SAFE tomorrow to ya!

Evenin' folks!

Just got back from the Hysterical Society......  Rochester Chapter National Railroad Historical Society.  Got to chat with some folks I haven't seen since last fall.  Now that the weather is getting a bit better i plan to spend more Saturdays working at the museum.  Great program tonight on the Dansville and Mount Morris Railroad Lots of grerat steam photos and action.

Barry, are you going to be at the convention?  I may see you there.  I should be arriving around 3:00 PM tomorrow.  If your not, I'll catch you on Sunday as planned.

Sawyer, so I hear your now singing soprano?  Sounds like a good game though!  Remind me to tell you about the umpire back when I was coaching girls JV Softball.  The guy didn't believe in wearing the "proper" equipment.  He got nailed.  My girls were very embarrassed!

When I got home ManĂ©t had taken up residence on the dining room floor.  As soon as I walked in he headed back to the bedroom and the suitcase.  I talked him out of it and he is now sitting here by the computer with my.  Funny cat!

Well its time I finished packing and headed to bed.

I may or may not be in tomorrow morning, depends on whether I get up when the alarm goes off or not.

Well, judging from today's shennanagins (Yep, I did have to look up how to spell that one...), I'd say that a lot of Diners were Arlo Guthrie fans - that, and I suspect that PC might've spent some time on the Group 'W' bench...Smile,Wink, & Grin I used to team up with one guy (who knew all the lyrics, and I could play all the music) for doing Alice's Restaurant at coffeehouses back then. I might still be able to play it, I think. Now where'd I put my Epiphone...?Whistling

Jim, I used to know Alices Resturant and Uneasy Rider like the back of my hand..........now I can't find my hand!  And how'd you know about my stint on the Group W bench?  Was that you with the long hippie type hair and the love beads over on the other end of that bench?

I got hit in the nuts by a kick in the third, but hey, ball didn't go into the goal Smile

And that, gentlemen, is one of the many, many reasons why I never was an athelete...

There are those who get kicked in the nuts, and then there are those of us who get paid to take pictures of those who get kicked in the nuts.Dead

Sawyer: hope the "boys" are allright... and believe me when I tell you this, as a former paramedic...there are certain conditions we 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the time let the patient "self-treat." THIS is one of them times. In other words, yer on yer own with this one, kid...Whistling

I'm gonna just grab a fast to-go bucket of coffee and head back to the *expletive *expletive bridge article before I get sent to the Group W bench. It's like a truck driving into a mud field: It started out great, looking good, then the wheels started to slip a little bit...then it bogged down; and now it's up to the running boards and goin' nowhere...but a ways from the end too. It's well over 1,000 words, and I'm hacking and chopping trying to trim it down without losing anything of the content/context.

Coffee's here...gotta run, plus, I think I see a pie about to launch!

***Sawyer, soccer will sure keep you in shape. Train smart and Good Luck with the season.

Wife set out her various buildings. After all the effort I put into creating an area for her lumber mill, she decided to squish it into a small space which made little sense to me. No way for a lumber truck to get to it. She wants to use the area I had created for her lumber operation for some mountain type scenes instead (ie: hikers, humters, etc...)

Then she squishes 3 mobile homes between two curved tracks with hardly any room for the little folk to hang their laundry. When I asked her about it, she said, "They live on the wrong side of the tracks". Hey, what can I say (let alone do), it is HER layout, right!?!?  Guess I should just be thankful she is interested.

She also sees a need for some houses on the outskirts of her little town. Thought we had enough buildings, but once set out it does look rather sparse. Guess I'll sell off more of mine to help pay for hers. BTW, everytime she looks at what I'm working on, she says the same thing, "You have a lot of track". Might seem so, but considering I'm not going to have very many structures, it's a wash. Probably more $$$ invested in her layout than mine. Just don't bring up locos or rolling stock.Whistling

After cooking food for the tummy in the oven tonight, I cooked a pan full of dirt for the soul. Yup, going to use it on our layouts. From now on, whenever we use the oven, I'll have a pan of dirt ready to go when the food is removed.

Hope everyone is doing well.

lol, I'm the exact opposite; Center DEFENSE for me. I love playing there. We won 6-1. One kid had a hat trick before we were halfway through the second quarter. I got hit in the nuts by a kick in the third, but hey, ball didn't go into the goal Smile I played center D first three quarters, had some good stops (their one goal was jsut a long kick that broke our defense down), and played center midfield the final quarter. Had some good stops, and some good competition to go up agaisnt. And then the U11 team I'm an assitant coach on won 3-0. Good day.

Sawyer, good luck with the soccer.   I played from 6 years old to 20 years old.  Mostly center foward.  I liked that position.  You got to score.   Its a good sport, and so many people make fun of it.  You need to be in shape for this sport.

Evening, Chloe - nope, I must've been tired, I think I slept through that last pie war. It's okay, these clothes will wash out. Oh, I'll have the chicken Parmesan with a salad, some breadsticks and a small bowl of marinara sauce, please. Yes, a glass of milk and a cup of coffee, too. Thanks!

Tried the new casino here, and lost.  Only took $20.

Good choice, Robby (the only taking $20 with you, that is Smile,Wink, & Grin)! That is suprisingly good that you could get the wife's surgery set up so quickly. Will add you both to my Angel list.

Anybody have any suggestions on improving my layout plan that I posted (back on page 44)?

Nik.n, on the specifics of Bachmann engines, I'll have to defer to some of our Diners who've worked on them (a lot like you might go to an auto mechanic specialist)

I'll be in the back booth, tuning up (this thing's in need of it!)...

Nik.n, Northwest Short Line might have a kit, depending on which loco you want it for. Do you want to regear it, too?

Sawyer, enjoy yourself (but don't get hurt) tonight.Thumbs Up

Ah, the flashing lights are heading off down the street, so I guess it's (relatively) safe to sit in the window booth now (other than for any airmailed pies, that is...)

Almost time for dinner - I might stick around for the dinner specials.

My father and I got the drive problem with the old tractor (60" Peerless) fixed this morning with just a couple of hours of work, busting knuckles, swearing and generally having a good time about it. The problem was a drive belt between the tranny and the differential. Crazy setup on that thing but I can see why due to the design. There's simply no way to run a shaft all the way back there and it's also a great way to keep some knucklehead (like me) from overloading it, as the belt would slip and probably burn off. You would not believe the number of things that had to be taken off to get that old belt out and the new one in. Simply incredible. You can rest assured that Murphy was in attendance and lending his unwanted assistance every step of the way. I've changed the clutch on this thing before and given the two I would opt to replace the clutch rather than that belt. On the flip side I now know exactly how to do it now. Once that job was finished I drove it across the road and mowed my sisters yard, front, back and sides. It was amazing how fast the front yards cleared of dogs when that thing lumbered through the gate. They don't like the noise the mower deck makes. Kinda sounds like an EMD turbo charger with bearing problems. Haven't gotten any assistance yet in my search for junk pieces for a G Scale train to have on permanent static display in the front yard. I'm thinking about just tossing the entire project into file 13 and moving on to something else.

By the way PC, my one cat was mesmerized by your animation.  He sat there staring at it for 15 minutes and then tried to swipe it off the screen.

My avitar is actually animated too, though the forum software won't allow it to do it's thing.  It's probably less interesting to kitty's though.........

They might like my Porsche gif though......

Oh no!  Here we go again!  Two in a row!

Zoe, Chloe.....you two just back off!  My ear still hurts from where you grabbed it last time!  Hey wait!  You can't do that!  OOWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!  Stop it................
