Afta-noon boys and girls!

I see we got new digs once again, at this rate we might have TS Diner LXX by the end of next year....  Laugh

I've been way too busy the past few weeks to make any entry into the diner. Black Eye

Glad to hear some of you have been getting fed with good recipes and culinary preparations and libations too! Big Smile

We finally got a Nintendo Wii after 2+ years of looking for one, and we've been playing the Wii Fit and just got the Tiger Woods 2009 golf, fun stuff. I have to say it is one family fun game.

Next week I'll be in San Antonio as part of the planning team for the EPA Office of Technology Operations and Planning (OTOP) conference, hope to get in some good Tex-Mex cuisine and a few Margaritas too! Ed put me in touch with a feller who lives in San Anton and has an N basement layout, also a member of the San Antonio Model RR Club, might get to set up a personal tour.

Just finished up reviewing the final draft for my 3rd Plan IT Part II article due out next month in the second issue of the online MRH magazine.  Joe says part III is due by May 15....need to get started on filling in my outline....Whistling

Nice KCS loco #4020 capture there! Thumbs Up

Jerry your coal hoppers are fantastic Thumbs Up

Howdy again!

Just thought I'd stop by and see what is good for lunch.  Zoe I'll I'll have a Bacon Bleu Cheese Burger with fries and a decafe!

Eric, my great grandfather was an inventor.  Don't think I told you this (puts on best Victor Borge imitation....), but he was the man that invented the cure for which there was no disease back in those days.  Unfortunately his wife later caught the cure and died.........  Anyway his greatest invention was a soft drink he called 4-Up.  However, it never really caught on, so he added some food coloring and a little more sugar and tried again calling it 5-Up.  Again no marketing success.  So he then came up with a drink with more carbonation and even more sugar which he called 6-Up.  But............. still no success!  He died shortly after that, heartbroken.

Never knew how close he came!

OK, OK I'll be quiet.

I'll sit I the back by myself and pig out on my lunch!

The doc gave me the MRI results this morning. Good news. It came up clean. No sign of infection in the bones, just some cellulitis in the soft tissue and I'm taking antibiotics for that already.

Afternoon Gang:

Jeff that's good news. Now just take care of yourself.

I need to go out to Clark Gardens and check on somethings for the train show. I'll also haul out the track panels for my trains. I don't htink that I'm going to take the HO out. There is just too much stuff that has to be moved to get it out of the basement.

Good Thoughts for everyone.

Victor who???  Just kidding, I know who he was.  And I bought lunch it seems.

Jeff;  Sounds like good news from the Dr.

I'm ready for some dessert myself.  Cheesecake?  or maybe some pecan pie!

Oh, umm, train related....yea.... saw the 6:37 pulling into Bradley Beach this morning.  Good enough?

Good afternoon,

If the pie case was ever transferred, I'll take a BIG slice of apple pie, thankyamuch.

A wet, dark, gloomy day here in Clarence. It's warmer than it looks out (about 60), but 'sposed to drop the rest of the week per the National Weather Speculators. Sounds like the weather was kinda rough out in western and southwestern Iowa yesterday...nothing like that here. Differing accounts state a UP train was blown off the track around Missouri Valley. I say "differing accounts" as others say it was in Nebraska.

Got two interviews done today, might (SHOULD) write 'em up yet today/tonight. Tomorrow evening is the dreaded monthly school board meeting. From the agenda, looks like it should be good for another 3-4 articles. THAT makes THAT editor happy, she can run one or two next week, and spread the others out throughout the month. Instant content. THAT means Thursday night is gonna be IV coffee time.

For RR stuff, anybody know of a stash of Islington Station decals? I've been looking for the XTRA covered hopper set for about...2 years now.

Have a good-un, stay SAFE.

Cederstrand

My oldest brother went to that train show I mentioned previously and had a great time. He discovered DCC and what can be done in a small space. All he has left these days is a Z scale set. He use to have a bunch of beautiful lionel, headed by this loco: http://www.tandem-associates.com/lionel/lionel_trains_2065_loco.htm He REALLY wants to replace it one day, but they are way too costly for him. He also had lots of HO years ago, but it is his Lionel he misses. Anyway, it was very nice hearing him get energized to do something with Z scale.

My Dad has the same one.

Jeff;  Sounds like good news from the Dr.
What I liked was what came afterward. Being poked and prodded by his nurses, all very nice looking too.

I set to work today on adapting some railings salvaged from a Bachmann GP50 to my GD30 (general duty for branch line service). It required a lot of drilling but I got them to fit. They're not entirely straight though. You try handling a hand held drill with hands that shake like an autumn leaf in a breeze.

One last coffee refill, please.

Here are a couple "on-topicWhistling" pics I took today of some HO scale clowns for the wife's layout. As it turns out, in the background you can also make out the big deck I've been building. Also one of the RR tie projects where we planted dwarf peach trees (which do not produce peachesBanged Head) and some grape vines for picking right from the edge of the deckDinner.

***Jeffrey, the rails look fine to me. I really like the loco, too. Had one some time back in N scale, but sold it off to buy more steamers.

Hope everyone is doing well. Wind is picking up, clouds are building, storms heading our way for the next few days. YeeHaw! Cowboy Rob

Apparently the reports are saying that the Blair Sub in NEB. was closed because a coal drag got clobbered/derailed as well as the story in IA so who knows---it's miserable all the way around.

Jeff; That is GOOD news!! And those rails don't look THAT out of line---Thumbs Up

Ryan; Don't be such a stranger!Smile,Wink, & Grin

I got all client visits done and now I can sit back with a nice hot chile and an RBF please, Chloe----

Jeff, an engine with perfectly straight railings is either new, or in a museum.

Ahh, Mr. Change is on.  The worlds problems will be solved tonight.

Chloe, a large mug of coffee and another slice of that apple pie if ya please, thankyamuch. I'll just hang out here with Barry while I take a coffee break.

Got one of the interviews from today turned into a "package" for THAT editor. She gets: the article as a Word document, a folder of raw .jpg pics, and edited/cropped/adjusted .eps pics ready for publication. Who woulda thought a simple little piece, about a real estate agent buying a house, and remodeling it into offices for him and the staff would be so tough to write? Had major writer's block, but got something (hopefully) coherent and interesting hammered out.

I really should write the second one tonight...or at least get it started. It "should" be easier, and is about a non-denominational Christian school moving at least a little closer to constructing a new school building. I got a brief history of the school and project, update on fundraising efforts, and bid info. I also got pics showing their lack of space and the vacant lot. Easy, peezy, Japanezey. Hammer it out, send it to the school's development dude for fact checking on the financial jazz, get some images out of him (archetectural renderings)...and viola! Another package for THAT editor.

But...enough about w**k.

JEFF: The GD-30 is really growing on me. I think the rails look just fine, like a unit that's seen a lot of work over the years. And, the lack of a vertical rail on the rear matches a CNW geep I saw in Marshalltown once upon a time.

Still not real sure where/if UP went off the rails yesterday. The Storm Prediction Center did NOT have it in their storm reports from yesterday, but did have some semi trucks blown off the road near Mo Valley. The UP's East Iowa...uh, I mean "Clinton Sub." has been running normally...usually if there's trouble out west, Dispatcher 12 ends up bugging the westbounds if they're OK (qualified on the territory) to run to Des Moines or not. I haven't heard any traffic like that today/tonight.

Well, I oughta get back at it. Guess I'm pulling the night shift tonight; an unintended consequence of working from home.

G'night all...

Chris

Long time, no see...

Wow, I don't even remember when my last post here was. I think it was on Elliott's Diner 8, lol.

The play is over. It was a great fun ordeal, and I miss it... I played my lead part for two of the four nights (cast A), and got showered with compliments... I'm definitely going to try acting later in high school. Good thing my future HS has the best theatrical department in all of Washington State!

I've heard news that 4449 will be stretching her drivers out to Michigan this summer... Maybe I could get driven south aways and say hi to the old girl before she gets there. Sounds like fun to me...

Deadliest Catch starts in three weeks... Can't wait for that, although I swear it started in January last year...

Catch you all later,

Mark

Good morning.

It's 54 and very wet here with more thunderstorms rolling in. High will be around the mid 70's with thunderstorms.

Between doctor appointments, visits to the parents and sifting through stacks of computer specs for my sister I actually got some MR work done yesterday, notably adding railings to my GD30, a 6 axle short range version of a GP30. It took a couple of hours, a lot of drilling and a chopped set of railings from a Bachmann GP50. I finally added the last couple of pieces to the rear steps last night. A set of railings made specifically for the model would have been nice but Athearn hasn't made a GP30 since what, around 1965? Now about the above mentioned stacks of computer specs, my sister has decided to get a computer for use at home and she doesn't want some Wal-Mart special from Dell or HP. The hours of going through dry specs came down to a decision between a HP notebook that had a lot going for it and a desktop from ZT Systems. Both are comparably priced. She doesn't need the portability and convenience of the notebook and she really likes what the ZT has to offer and I must say that I'm impressed with it as well. It looks as if she'll be ordering that system. Looks like it's gonna be pouring down rain today and tomorrow. Good thing I got the grass cut when I did. Right now I'm looking over the layout and determining what other mayhem I can get into. There are some city scene details (phone booths, bike racks, etc) coming but those are still days away.

Good morning.  Its going to be a rainy day.  Looks like the rain is in WV, right now.

Yesterday, well I mainly ran some trains.  Didn't work on the layout to much.  I did go to the Dollar Tree, and bought some cars for my junk yard.  They are kinda out of scale, but a hammer helped put them into some what scale.  I also bought a 1/64 scale "hot rod', and weathered it.   Turned out pretty good.

I guess I might go now, and take a movie back before it starts to rain.

Well have a good day, everybody.

Mornin' all!

Indianapolis, Indiana
Currently: 50°F Rain

Today: mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain showers until midday, then partly cloudy in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 60s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to around 25 mph.

Well, today should be pretty brutal around this office.  We had a murderous day yesterday, and none of those problems got resolved.  Those people are going to be screaming even louder today, plus, you just kno there's going to be new issues to deal with.

I can't wait for 5:00pm already!

Guess I'll just have to hang in there...........

Mornin' folks!

I'm up early waiting for an electrician to show up to put in a dedicated circuit into the main train room.  When finished it will provide a breaker to shut off when I leave the room so that everything train related will be off.  No more rolling over in bed a 2AM wondering if I remembered to unplug the soldering iron......

Zoe just a bowl of hot Cream of Wheat and a cup of Dark Roast in a FGLK Mug this morning.  Don't forget the brown sugar, thank you!

Still a bit nippy in the mornings around here, currently 35°F here in the Finger Lakes but we expect a nice 51°F later this afternoon.  Rain Showers late this evening and heavy rain all day tomorrow. At least it isn't going to come down as "white" stuff.

Jeffrey good to hear that your test came back with some good news for you.  Plain old cellulitis is bad enough.....

Philip hope all the "emergencies get fixed today with no new ones to deal with.

Sound for the Spring Musical is starting to fall in place.  The kid helping me had the flu last Thursday and through the weekend.  He still isn't feeling great but was there last night and did a good job of following the vocals.  They are still having major problems with scenery so the director hasn't had time to "critique" the sound so far.......

Hope all of you have a great day!

Sunny here today and supposed to be 50*. Tomorrow comes the rain those in Ohio, IN, and Pittsburg are complaining about today. Hey, I won't complain about rain....It COULD be FEETs of snow!

I know where you're coming from on the pain. Having to walk for more than a couple hundred yards leaves me in agony and having to walk around in Wal-Mart or any other store for that matter is a very memorable experience. I make frequent use of their Mart-Carts.

Large coffee, please.

***Chris, cool pic of the old diesel.

***Jeffrey, nice "night shot", as we've come to expect from you.

***Philip, you just have way too much fun at the office.Wink

***Garry, thanks! All it needs now is some railing so the Inlaws don't fall over the edge. Hmmm, maybe I could leave the rails off for one particular Inlaw...might be doing everyone a favor.EvilLaugh

Up to 1" rain today, 2" tonight, another 1" tomorrow...we're in a rain cycle which is great for the pastures. We're under a flood watch. Some thunderstorms start up tomorrow. YeeHaw!

My last track order will not ship until next month, as their policy is to wait 2 weeks on personal checks. I hate the wait, especially when today would have been ideal for working out the final track plan. Oh well.

Speaking of plans, I'm really leaning towards a Natural Bridge as the primary feature in the little canyon. Tough call, but would be fun to sculpt it and easier (for me) than trying to build a "to scale" trestle. Or, I could still use that HO scale trestle. What should I do? Some decisions seem hard to make.

Healing thoughts to those in need.
