FlashwavePackers#1 Well, doc said I could take 3-4 Advil, so took 4 before school, and my spine starts hurting 2nd period. Neck began hurting third period. What you need sir is a good massage therapist floowoed by a chiropractor. Possibly anyone on the footballl team bigger than you across with a sledge. You need to loosen up the back and neck muscles that tensed up to keep you from flailing around in the accident. Natural human reaction. . That's what's pulling your spine out. Once they can move, the bone guy should be able to thwak the spine back in place. Also try a warm shower.

I was awoken this morning to some books on my shelf falling over, and in turn sending three cars I'd hastily put there last night before turning in. A 60' boxcar, a centerbeam flat, and one of my hoppers ventured five feet to the floor below. Two ladders and two steps broke but remained attached on the boxcar. I believe they may be able to be repaired, or replaced with wire. But a piece of sectional track made the trip too and scratched the side nicely. One of the bulkheads on the centerbeam came off but has no damage. It can easily be glued in back in place. And one of the braces on the hopper popped out, but it went right back in. Glad nothing else on that broke. The superficial damage on the boxcar will likely allow me to actually weather it instead of worrying that I'll ruin a nice new car. So I guess it all worked out.
I went to DeRidder this afternoon to turn in one of my custom made shoes for repair. Apparently there wasn't enough adhesive between the upper and lower soles and they parted company. I should have it back in a week. Until then I have to wear one of those pain in the butt walking braces that I wore for years before the shoes were made. While I was in DeRidder I went to the Wal-Mart there to do a little grocery shopping. I looked in the toy section to check up on the 1/87 vehicles (usually around $3) intending on getting one. Was I surprised to see them priced at $1 each! I grabbed 3. A red Mustang GT, a neon green VW Bug and a blue Bone Shaker. The Wal-Mart in Leesville doesn't carry any 1/87 cars, just trucks with no trailers.

Hey JEFF: was that VW Bug an old beetle, or a "new beetle?" My wife collects VWs of all sizes... and I'm sure she doesn't have any "neon green" yet, so I might have something to keep an eye out for.
Some guys get their wives flowers...I get mine "bugs." Hey, they never die, and just might increase in value someday.

Thank you Sir, guess I've got something to keep an eye out for now. I was kinda figuring it would be one of the new beetles, with some of the really ugly colors they put on 'em sometimes. An old one 'eh? Interesting.
Evening, Chloe - , am I far behind on the posts (and unless I let them lock me in this restaurant tonight, I won't get caught up, either...)! Think it's 8 or 10 (or 12...) pages since I was in a couple of days ago, so my apologies for missing about everything that went on. I tried to skim through the past 2-3 pages, but no guarantees here.
Lee, good luck on your job change (and landing that one with the test and the writer's cramp...).
Ray, congrats on the new position/honor. Your friend Rosa sounds like one I would've liked to have had when I was still in teaching. I might still be a teacher, in that case.
Too busy at w**k - partly trying to catch up from the paperw**k I didn't get to on Friday (with the crisis counseling trip I went on for a couple of hours). Think I'm a little tired too - have been having dreams again (haven't for months or years I think, or else I'm just not remembering them), and some waking in the night. The past weekend, I was backup on-call (which means "Don't plan on anything that you can't quit in about 20-30 minutes or less"). Luckily, I didn't get called out by my primary at all. Whew!
One bright spot for me was that today, my federal and state tax refunds both showed up in my account at the credit union. Nice! Now to think through what things to apply the money toward (before it all disappears)...Hmmm...
Belated Happy Independence day to our Texans (current and transplants to other parts of the country).
We've been having cold weather (not Barry-level cold, though). It warmed up to the 30's (F, single digits in C) today, and I've heard rumors of warming temps by the weekend. Puhleeeeze, let it be so!!
H-L has their 40 percent off coupon this week, for those with one nearby. I'm gonna suggest through their website that they carry more variety of W-S figures (since I've bought about all the ones they carry in our store...). I'm supposed to get my Digitrax power supply and command station (DB150) and power supply (I think it's the 25 watt one, but not for sure) this weekend. Got an email from our LHS owner/MRR club member that the other DPM walls that I'd ordered came in (at the sale price, yes!), so I'll pick that up as well.
Well, I'm going to head for home and see about some 's tonight. Prayers for comfort, rest, healing and a good rest of the week for those needing them.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau (and catching up...)
(SLAM!) Oh my goodness,(pant, pant, pant) I hope I didn't miss the Oyster stew. No? great a big bowl please.
Jeff- I got wind of the 1/87 cars at wally mart from here in the diner and boy am I glad I did. Our store doesn't carry them too often or in many different styles (usually only one at a time)but I always check for them on the trips there. I've only got 1 semi tractor and two different cars but for a dollar or two a car and I think it was 3 or 4 for the semi tractor. Hey, definately worth walkin to the back of the store for.
Dr Pepper please. I'll enjoy my Oyster stew here in the booth.

Jim- I think Lee's tests you are refering to are his medical tests for his parathyroid. Don't feel alone. Trying to get through all these pages when you are out for a bit, I got a bunch of stuff mixed up too. (Though we still wish him luck on his tests). A lot of stuff happens around here.

The way your built, it may take a few showers. You/parent wouldn't have one of those handhld back massager/thumpy thingies would you? maybe a heating pad? Right, Carolina. Who needs a heatin g pad down there. What am I thinking?. And seriously, consider the chiro and Massuese/seuir. Especially if you can find them cute.

Evening Gang: Not a whole lot to report. I went out to Clark Gardens to check on the plans for the train show. Things are coming along fine except that they haven't been able to get an HO modular layout. I may have to move mine out there. I told them if they will provide a crew to move it I'd do it. I think that they may be expecting a bit too much in the way of attendence. Carol told me she expects 3,000 to come. That would be nice but I told her to not get her hopes up for that many. More like 1,000 to 1500 would be good. They have put alot of money into advertising though so one can hope.
Well today was a 4am wake up so it's past time for this old foggie to go to bed.

Duke,
Not sure if the PM thing worked:
There are two shows to go to in the area: The NMRA Div 4 Show in OCT at the Cuyahoga fair grounds and the NMRA Div 5 Show in Lakeland. Lakeland has parking for approx 2,000 vehicles, if I get there 1 hour before the show starts I typically have to park in the grass. I’ve been told that approx 6,000 people will visit Lakeland in the 2 day show. Lakeland show is 37 minutes from the IX center here are the address so you can do a map quest.

When you pull into the Lakeland collage you will want to go to the left (north side of the building) you can’t miss the train show entrance.there are approx 20 train shows in the Cleveland area each season and 4 in the Toledo Area.

Chloe, stick a hose on the spout of the milk dispenser and put a valve on the end you give me, I'll pick up the tab on the next tank car of drinks that arrives. You'll see why in a second.

Well there was a bit of excitement in the house tonight. Dorothy had bought lottery tickets last month and asked me to look up the winning number for 2/21/09. I told her it was 261. She started jumping around the living room. She flashed her ticket with the numbers 261 on it. Not too bad at over $300,000.00 pay out. Visions of HO-Scale Big Boys and Y units with DCC and sound danced in my mind…Then I looked at the ticket; the mid day number was 261, her ticket was for the evening drawing.

Sounds like you have my type of luck dollar short and a day late.
oh well anyway hows everyone doing I'm in search of someplace to hide for a couple of days lol I won one auction for a train set on saturday and just won another auction tonight for 4 passenger cars new in box factory sealed for $75.00 not bad concidering they originally sold for about $175.00 (were talking O gauge here for those that don't know I do O gauge) So when she saw some flowers she wanted to order on QVC tonight for the yard this spring I didn't complain one bit. Good Evening Diners!
This certainly has been a busy place since the last time I stopped by but I do peek in from work now and then.
Well the weather here is at least somewhat spring-like today with a high of about zero C, or at least what passes for spring up here. It will be short lived though as we are supposed to be down to -20 by the week-end. There doesn't seem to be much snow however there is a high danger of flooding when we finally thaw out due to heavy rains late in the fall. Thank goodness for Duff's ditch as we call the flood diversion system. Basically it is a second river channel that was dug to divert the flow of water around the city.
Did a little work on the RR front tonight while watching a video called Canadian Steam 1958. It was shot near here with sound and in fact there is one sequence very close to where I used to railfan that very year. I was twisting the trunks and branches of some WS conifer trees. I wonder what possessed WS to mould the branches on conifers pointing up unless it is a variety that doesn't grow north of the 49th. If any of you have seen such a tree, please send me a pic.
Quite a little "to do" on the main forum over the Bowser thing. Some people really get worked up on some topics.
March is the start of bill season for me with car insurance and boat insurance this month followed by boat moorage and then property taxes in June. To add to the fun,the dryer died on Friday and as it and the washer are 19 years old we decided to replace the washer too rather than tempt fate because you know that as soon as a new dryer arrived the washer was bound to quit too. I wouldn't have blamed it as it has reached retirement age. I guess I'll stay away from my LHS for a while.
Oh oh, it's past my bedtime so I better say good-night. Good-night.

Hi again guys and gals. I tried to reply last week to a few of your posts, but the site was all funky and I couldn't even get this page to pop up.
JimRCGMO- Amyjo and myself are doing great, I had eye surgery back in Nov, they filed down some 10 penny nails and jammed them in my left eye, sucked all of the fluid out and replaced it with used transmission fluid, or something like that, the vision was pretty much gone, but it's better now. Some days. Others, I walk into things and drive like I'm in Britain. We don't have any camping trips coming up soon, but we are working on a trip to Colorado in Sept, probably do some 4-wheeling and camping then.
Went to the Muncie and Western Train Show Saturday, it was a good show, but the Lionel and (oddly enough) S- scale tables out numbered HO and N by about 4-1.I picked up some code 83 track, but there were no turnouts to be had. We are going to try to go to Toys Forever (311 S Walnut St, Muncie, In) later today and pick some up. After the show, I stopped by Hobby Lobby, their train section is actually decent for a generalized hobby store. I picked up some paint there.
Heartland- Thank you for the warm welcome back, like I said, it's good to see some of the old hands still about.
A new member also commented on not being a member when i visited the diner more frequently, and to my shame, I forgot his handle, but if he is reading this, you have came to one of the best places you can be, these people (collectively) know absolutely everything about anything, and they are a great bunch to chat with.
Looking forward to enjoying a cup of Joe with you all every now and again, and keep those trains rolling!
Now all I have to do is figure out how to jam an EMD 510 diesel into my Jeep so I can get 423 miles to the gallon, like CSX does!
Good Morning from Tipton IN !

Mornin, an irish coffee please Zoe
A start chilly 24 out, but the guessers are saying 50 for the high n sun, sure hope their right this time, I'd like to get in some yard work outside.
LEE,,,, I used Wel Cote drywall mud, then painted it with a mix of charcoal/ hippo gray acrylic artist paint for the crossing.
JR,,,,, I tried for more room, no with no luck [CFO just doesn't understand I guess]. So, still got the same space, just laid out a little different.
JERRY,,,, didn't make Mattoon, it was one of those weekends where planning ahead, got farther behind.
TODD,,,,, I started mine over about 2 ½ years ago, so I've been real slow getting back into swing of rebuilding.
Thanks for the comments on the photos. It was actually just a small part of the park. I still have the village and a small camp area to do. No faster than I am, it's take a while.
No playtime last evening. Mother decided since my eagle poop went in the bank, we needed to fill the pantry back up and go out for supper. I was almost crying when we left the store broke again. Oh well at least supper wasn't to exspensive.
Best gets round, first 2 kids will be here bout 5. Hope ta get some play time today; it'll be cleaning up the track. The kids are hollerin [n gramps too] to run some trains. Thoughts for all those in need n hope ya'll gooden

Good Morning people. We're going up to -1C today with our mix of sun/cloud but tomorrow we'll have a high of 9C and Friday will be up to 15C!! YYYIIIIIIIPPPPPPEEEEEE!!!!! Mind with lots of rain----
Got meetings today so I'm up and ready to go really early. Chloe--I'll have 3 Eggs up with homefries and sausage with a bucket of raw caffeine please. I'm going to the back where Inch is.
Chloe ---uh---who left the pecan pie on the floor in front of the cash register? I think I just stepped in it---
Good morning all,
Phil, good to see you in the diner I must have missed your first entrance.
If anyone is interested the Hobby Town in Mentor, OH is for sale…..
Inch, Dry wall mud?? Well it looks very impressive. I’ve been thinking about setting forms and using plaster for mine.Lee
Its a cold morning here, right now its 11deg. The high will be 36deg. So I will take a hot cocoa, and pancakes.
Not to much planned today. Might give the layout a workout, and see what I can work on.
Jerry, now thats a nice bug. The stores here don't carry to much 1/87 scale. The LHS do thou.
Lee, my wifes grandma plays the lottery everyday. She hasn't hit the big one yet. I will say that would be my luck as well.
Well guys/gals, I guess I will head out. BTW I wish that pecan pie wasn't wasted. No need to keep food in the floor.
"Rust, whats not to love?"
Good morning. It's 44° and clear. The high should be around 70° and it will be partly cloudy. Made my trip to DeRidder yesterday to turn in my defective shoe for repair. It'll be ready in a week. I also dropped in on the Wal-Mart there and picked up several of the 1/87 Hot Wheels cars as they were on sale for $1 each. I got a Mustang GT, a Bone Shaker and a VW Beetle (old). One will be featured each day for the remainder of this week in my photo at the end of my morning post, starting today with the VW Beetle. Upon getting back home I joined my parents for dinner, chicken pie with creamed corn, cabbage and home fries with cornbread to top it off. I'll be working with my father this morning to get a bunch of pine straw picked up and put onto the burn pile. It needs a good burn. Maybe this afternoon I can get back to the observation car. I need to cut the holes in which to place the cargo doors. How bouts a funny for the day
There was once a young man who, in his youth, professed a desire to become a "great" writer.
When asked to define "great" he said "I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional level, stuff that will make them scream, cry, wail, howl in pain, desperation, and anger!"
He now works for Microsoft writing error messages.
