I'll have a video coming your way...
BTW, this photo and video aren't filmed on my layout.

Modeling the Southern Pacific in the 1960's-1980's
I thought I would post a few in progress shots from my trestle build.
Here is the bridge I'm trying to model. Emphasis on trying!
And my cat George. He doesn't go near the layout when I'm home. He does, however, seem to be fearless when my wife is home!
I like the bridge Secondhand. Here's the video: http://s257.photobucket.com/albums/hh201/SuperChieff/?action=view¤t=MVI_1183.flv
It includes a SDP or SD45 with a Geep on the end.
Nice work on the trestle secondhand modeler but how do you keep
the fur balls out of your locos
I finished building the express building at Quinnimont Wva for my friend Art's layout
It's based on this COHS photo
I had to slectively compress it so it would fit in the space alowed and
It still needs an ink wash to weather it but over all I'm happy with it

When I first got into model railroading a few years ago I really liked the big stuff..., the 2-6-6-4's etc. As time passed I found myself drawn more to engines like my 2 MP 15DC switchers, one of which is pictured here. The two I own are made by Atlas and not only are they pretty strong pullers, for their size, but can negotiate just about any track or turnout on my layout. Crawling at 1 mph is no problem either. In this picture Southern's 2349 run's a boxcar to an industry located just outside the yard.
Jarrell
Jarrell,
When I grow up, I want to be able to take photos as nice as yours....well done, my friend!

Research; it's not just for geeks.
Jarrell, I agree with Don Z, outstanding shot.
An East bound Reading GP7 no.633 with a short string of loaded coal hoppers.
Jarrell, Grampy,
You both have wonderful layouts and I enjoy your pictures.
Thanks Don and Grampy for the compliment! Grampy, there you go again making me drool all over my computer monitor. What's the best way to clean an lcd screen anyway?
I do have one question for you this week, approximately how long have you been working on your present layout and, if not finished, how far along is it? Oppps, sorry, that's two questions.
hopefully George isn't like my cat. she plays with cars when i just have them sitting out on display (collecting trains before i do the layout since i change my mind every other week on what to do). i can't imagine how she'll be when i have them actually moving. oh i'm sure i'll be getting video thinking it's cute seeing the cat chase after a few cars behind my GP9er, untill she catches them. then the neighbors will here whats going on. i need to get a little switched though, my latest idea is to turn the top of my computer desk into a small point-to-point with a few switches to do. right out in the living room, i figure it'll be something i'll run very prototypically as soon as i figure out what goes in and comes out and how often with the industries i want. ooh, speaking of which i should stop by the train shop this morning yet. been so long the guy probly won't even recognize me anymore.
Hi Jarrell: I use a Flitz microfiber cloth. I started this layout, my first, about 6 yrs ago. I really got involved the last 3. I, like you, I think, had years of pent up desire for a layout, but raising 2 daughters, work, 10 years of building and running a dune buggy prevented anything but preparing for the day I could actually build a layout. It's now pretty much done, scenery, track work, wiring, etc.
Great shots as usual. The bar keeps going up!!!!
Here's the cement plant I have been working on. I posted these shots earlier this week, but heres a couple of them for WPF. The only thing I have done to it is between the mainline and the siding I added some green, soil, burnt grass turf.
"Rust, whats not to love?"
Impressive stuff already and it is only Noon on Friday!
I haven't taken any photos of Cooley's Blue Ice in a while and since I am getting a shot ready for a contest over across the street, I thought I would share with you what I have so far.
It's August 1925 and they still have some ice left at Cooleys:

Holy smokes! All the good photos came early. Time to make room for the second string.

Great pic! What materials did you use for dirt and ballast here? Looks great!
Thanks! The dirt is....dirt. I used old pantyhose and screened some dry garden soil. I then mixed it with Plaster of Paris, not very much, and spread it on the layout. I then used a small glass jar as a roller to roll it flat. The tracks were already in place, by the way. Once it was groomed nicely, including spread between the rails, I sprayed it with a plastic spray bottle, garden type, with a mixture of alcohol and water. It is a bit hard to see, but dark patches to the right of the approach tracks are oily puddles. I had left small depressions there and painted them with black acrylic paint. Later I filled them with epoxy. At the right angle they reflect the blue from my backdrop sky. The close one is doing that now, but it doesn't show up well in the image.

Thank you Jarrell!
The field in the foreground is wheat that is almost ready for harvest..... Or at least that's what it is supposed to be. Made from WS Tall Field Grass cut to size and glued in place with plain old white glue.
All I can say is to everyones work so far today , this has the beginnings of a top 5 WPF of all time.
BTW Gramps, that is one of your best shots yet....Jarrell, you got the skills both as a modeler an a photogapher. Have you ever made any videos of these crawlers in action? We want to see.
N Scale Diesels......I like 'em
Here is my scratchbuilt CB&Q O2A I finished a few months ago. It's built on an old LMB 2-8-2 chassis that was stretched behind the rear driver. Except for a handful of castings, everything else is scratchbuilt.
Before paint.

Corey - love the use of the cat as a temporary weight for the foam board.
I've been mucking about with the camera again and practicing with black/white and sepia

WOW!
I may try to have something to post later, still working on the n-scale roadside market.
For those who like the cracked paint effect I can finally get in close enough to show it on this RailBox.
