The engine looks ok, but that railroad crossbuck has to go. It looks too toy fake like. I would use NJ-International crossbucks. http://www.njinternational.com/crossing.htm

Thanks for tyhe suggestion, but since I don't have any I make use of what I've got. It looked much worse when it was all white.

I finished the slug.  Got my railings in the mail this week, and installed them before the mailman was to the end of the block.

Just need some air tanks to disguise the fuel tank thing in the frame. Otherwise, ready for service.

Boy ,Stebby, talk about hittin' the nail on the head! Yeah, I still need to put up wood siding and weather it.This was more a test to see if I could get a close copy of the barns up here. There's one on my property, I it used as an example. The red paint was only for the pic to get an idea  how it'd look. I'll get the weathering on later!

Thanks!

I need ALOT of farm scenes since I model NW Wisconsin, so I've started to mess around with scratch-building barns. Still need to add siding ,windows, etc.

Terry

Living in Iowa, and traveling a lot through the rural contryside, I have to tell you that barn is waaay too purty.  You plan to do some serious weathering I hope?  The only barns I have seen with that fresh a coat of paint usually belong to "hobby-farmers" who probably use them to stable horses, or house their antique car collection.  Big Smile

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

I've been toiling away repairing track for the upcoming operating session (I still have a LOT to do!) but I also managed to work on a few other projects during a break from filing rough joints, testing, soldering feeders, more testing, more filing joints, more testing, etc... I don't think any of you would really be interested in seeing photos of track though...

This is the White River Southern Railroad's humble maintenance yard for the White River Subdivision (there's also the Concord Subdivision). It consists of an old 53' container for storing smaller parts (tie plates, spikes, tools, etc) as well as some larger items such as track bumpers and relay boxes. The railroad equipment available includes a 40' flatcar, two ballast hoppers, a small gasoline speeder with trailer, and whatever empty home-road cars can be spared. Those are stored on the caboose track. The scenery is far from done in this area...

I also sceniced the gravel truck docks for Eyore's Kitty Chow. The ballasting isn't done, and the backdrop needs some work, but it's an improvement over pink foam!

HEINZGUDERIAN
Wow. Thats good weeathering Jeff. How you do it?
If you mean the RailBox  car on page 2 of this thread that was a simple process of a soak in 70% rubbing alcohol to soften the paint a little followed by a scrub with a small brass bristle brush. It was then sprayed with a mix of alcohol and pure black acrylic paint with the liquid being wicked away with the corner of a paper towel.

Stein, thanks for bringing us up to date...I had been wondering what you were doing these days.

I don't see the crane very well above, but it looks like a nice model.  You and Wolfgang seem to share a delight in the 44 tonners.  I think your barge is smashing.   Looks very good.

I hope to see more.
