Good evening...

Well, it looks like Fergie stirred up a hornets nest with his BNSF thread. I followed wit ha very brief (pun?) lawyer joke, and people went bonkers with that. It was a joke, people, a joke. If you you can't have fun each day, why get out of bed?

Jerry stopped by, and that was great! He likes country ham, and I'll be glad to bring some to the diner for him when he returns.  It has been good of Inch to keep us informed.

Jeff.... I like that Shell station more and more.

Robby ... nice weathering of the locomotive.

I am still working on my scenry project and it will take a few more days.

Rembember to S M I L E ............Model railroading is fun!

All joking aside and on a serious note you best check with the doc. Could be worn down or could be something you need checked out. Don’t mess around with headaches and blood pressure. You don’t want all of us to show up and drag you down there!

Jerry- Good to here from you. Glad you’re doing betterYeah!! and hope you get back sooner than you expect.

Robby- Good job on the engine but um, don’t you think it might need a bath?Smile,Wink, & Grin Looks like some we have passing through here, ‘cept they’re yellow.

Sarona Terry- Sounds like a typical event for me. You’re not the only one that kinda stuff happens too so don’t feel alone. Glad the good stuff outweighed the frustrations.

Prayers for those in need.

Well all CSX has once again been pretty busy here tonight, I've heard at least 5 trains come through.  Most are probably just pass throughs, but I know that at least one was picking up hoppers on the interchange siding.  Another was probably dropping off empties.  If I only had a scanner and knew the frequencies so I could listen in on them, but oh well, no money to procure one right now, so no reason to complain.  Anyway, I think I'm going to call it a night, I didn't get a single bit of drawing done, so I might go do that before I head off into the land of sleepy dreams.

I'm thinking it is the server causing these problems. Even though I had trouble getting on here last night I had no problem whatsoever getting on other sites.

Good Morning All,

A balmy 15F this morning with a high predicted of 38. Tomorrow it isn't supposed to get above 16F at all and lots of wind. I'll have a regular and a coconut covered donut please.

Good to hear from Jerry and we'll keep him in our prayers and wish him a prompt trip home.

Ray - there is a company called Clover House in Sebastapol, Ca. that lists lots of detail parts including a line of colored scale line insulators. Found them on line if i find the link again I'll post it here for you. They also have a large number of dry transfers listed which is why I started looking. The business owners are in their 80's and looking to sell and retire so I wouldn't wait too long.

Haven't had any issues signing in or navigating here using Comcast as my ISP for whatever that's worth. Might just be a server/ISP compatibility issue (like I know what I'm talking about LOL). Went in already for my blood work, need to meet with the second insulation contractor later ths morning, so back to the far reaches of the shop.  Catch y'all later,  J.R.

 Good morning.

It's 43 and partly cloudy. The high today is expected to be around 50 and it will be partly cloudy.

For all my intentions to get certain things done yesterday I actually accomplished very little. I got lighting in the Shell station sorted out so I don't have that big bulb hanging down in full view. Other than that I didn't get anything accomplished on the layout. For some reason I was just very tired yesterday. Later I went down to my parents place and gathered up the trash and put it out for collection this morning since my father wouldn't be there to do it then went over to my nieces place and watched her live-in boy friend do something that could best be described as demonstrating how NOT to attempt the installation of a dog door. He's going shopping for a new front door for the trailer today as the old one now has an oversized hole in it. Before I left there I got a tape measure and showed him what he SHOULD have done to start with as in measure the dog door from side to side where the screws come through then do the same from top to bottom. I made sure he wrote the measurements down before I left. He doesn't seem to be real swift on DIY projects.

Good morning all, the snow is flying and the temps will soon drop to single digits this week.

Terry, I hear you on everything run perfect until company shows up.  I have an open house on 30 JAN 09 from 10am till 7pm in my basement layout and I have a few demons I need to fix before then.

Rob, I feel your pain.  Friend of mine stopped by during the holidays to look at the layout.  She was very impressed but it went something like: “you don’t have a hospital? Where is your police station, you know you really need dry cleaners, and maybe a dairy farm over there…….

Sue, I’ll need some tips on water once I start my bridge section, maybe I can buy you some pie and a RBF one day while I pick your mind.

Jeff, I know what you mean, my neighbor installed a new kitchen counter and came over for help.  He put the sink on the counter upside down, traced it and cut the hole.  He couldn’t figure out why it fell through the hole, I told him to buy a new counter and call me before he touches anything.

Its a cold, and snowy day.  I will take the hungry mans breakfast a OJ.

Ahhh, get to watch some snow again, and wait for the 0 to -0 nights.  I believe those nights are Thur-Fri.

I guess I will get some layout stuff done.  I got 5 NS hoppers together last night, and got them at the coal plant.  I will work on my propane plant today as well.  Other than that, nothing really planned.

Well I guess I will eat up, and be back later.

Mornin' all!

Tough to get going this morning.

Yesterday was BRUTAL at the office, so lets hope and pray that silliness is over!  Guess I'll know soon enough, huh?  Phones are a ringin'!

Came across this the other day and thought it was funny.  Whaddya think?

So, it's like really cold out there, and it's supposed to get colder.  We're lookin' at single digits tonight, and later this week we'll have some negative digits, so with the wind howling along at 30mph, it's a bit brisk out there!

Well, gotta run!

Prayers for those in need!  Yeah, thats you!

Morning to all. The boss stepped out, time for a short break.

Zoe, a porkroll and cheese on a hardroll please?  Zoe: "A what and cheese?"

Never mind, how about biscuits and sausage gravy and a decaf. Thanks

Loved the BNSF thread!  Some people..... Getting all fired up about an innocent comment.

Are there any decent modern box car kits around or is everything pretty much RTR?  I have intermodal cars buried somewhere, just need containers.  Some of them seem to cost as much as the whole car.

Just getting ideas for dioramas with my CSX units.

OOPS! The boss is back.  See you later. Eric

Morning all.  Its about 45-50 degrees outside and right now its overcast, supposed to get a little more clear today, but cloud up again tonight.  Our cold nights are supposed to hit around Thursday when the forecasted low is 14.  I plan on getting my final track plan down for my layout, then I'm going to go and get some work done around the house, and finally, I'm going to go watch a couple trains before picking up the little girl from daycare.  Zoe, I'll have a biscuits and gravy and a tall glass of milk.  I'll probably be hanging around on here for a little while.  And I do have a question, would intermodal cars ever be mixed in on say, a local freight?

Sue, I’ll need some tips on water once I start my bridge section, maybe I can buy you some pie and a RBF one day while I pick your mind.

Sure.  I have been lazy about the photo stuff lately.  On my current computer, I don't have photoshop.  The software that I am using does not wipe the card clean when I download, so I have to erase all the dups.Banged Head

My first water project was the cowboys bathing in the pond.  I am now trying to complete the stream below that.  This project should take about 7 or 8 pours.  We need to complete the facia, too, to finish it, and we are still trying to decide on that.

Later,

Sue

Good question.  I'd like to know too.  As far as being part of a local, I would think the logistics of loading or unloading would cause issues.  However, at the warehouse across the street I have seen containers literally strapped to flatbed trailers lifted off by a small wheeled crane with spreader bars and chains, so who knows?

Well, only reason I'm really asking is because I currently have about seven intermodal cars (one five-unit consist) and two separate TTX cars, and I wanna use them, but I know "prototypcially" there isn't an intermodal train that comes through my area (since its the area that I'm modelling), but I was thinking that say, at the end of a local, maybe I could strap them on and have them be cut farther on down the line.

Isn't that the way it always goes Terry?

Yup, just sounds like most typical operating sessions, Terry! Smile,Wink, & Grin As you said though, Terry, it whetted their appetite to come back again. Maybe next time you won't have any flipped locos.

Well, I hope all you upper Ohio Valley Diners got out your longjohns for today - weather forecast for you today sounds a lot like what our Canadian brethren have been describing for a while. Wow!! Snow, blowing snow, biting cold and more of that! Bundle up today if you have to go out at all.

And PC, are you going for the new TOP record? Wink Just a couple/three more to go and you may have that record!

Laugh Exactly, Ray! I have a cartoon I'll post later today on that...Oh, on the sitting in front of the fire, you forgot about rotating the frozen and crisped sides every minute or so (for a semblance of evenness...Whistling)

Jeff and Lee, I think you both hit the nails on the head about their skill level for DIY projects. That's why I limit what stuff I do, and ask a lot of questions when I have a project I'm thinking of starting. Better to know it's beyond my level before I sink major money into it...Oops

Eric, you might check that Horizon Hobby link I posted (Athearn.com will work as well). I'm pretty sure Athearn has a bunch of containers/kits for them that you should be able to get. But check it from home, maybe...Wink

Jerry, prayers for your continued healing and swift return home. Yeah!!

On the intermodal question, that's later than my RR's time period, so I dunno...Confused

I'll be in the window booth, checking out the morning switcher run.

Blessings and prayers,

Garry- I thought the joke humorous. So would a few lawyers. They tell lawyer jokes too, the good ones that is.

Barry- Yeah, I see your point. But…..(hee hee hee). Nah, there is a lot of opinions flying around and I too gave my OPINION! (which of course is right, hee hee hee) Aaahh  hooboy, have a chamamile tea or whatever it’s called, on me. We’ll go in the back and sit down and watch. Kinda like a Pro wrestling match. Comical until you loose interest. Say what's them roll things you guys have up there again, the sweet things.

Phillip-Laugh true, so true. (t-shirt)

Bama- You would be surprised at what gets yanked through here. Cars AND locos. Passenger AND freight. The only thing I can say about some of the stuff on the prototype railroad tracks around here (UP and of course Amtrak) is that it’s not prototypical, If you know what I mean (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) Ah them big railroads, they don’t know what they’re doin.

And as for DIY projects. A wise man once said "A man has got to know his limitations."

Welp best get doin something. Gotta place a sink in a counter top. How’d you say that guy did it Lee, turn it over and trace? Sooouunds easy enough.

Have a good day, Todd

At Mass we found out who the new Provincial is for the West Coast Franciscans--and he's a HOOT!   Of course, Franciscan Priests tend to be pretty 'off-the-wall' to begin with (and I mean that in the nicest possible way) but the new Provincial is a particular favorite at our Parish when he comes up to do the occasional Mass.  So the Order is in VERY good hands.  We all came out of Mass feeling pretty 'up.'

What? Did I hear someone say Ribeye? That's my favorite! medium rare for supper I think.

I take jokes as just that, jokes. Some do get personal but as a group I don't take them personal. Any jokes about Mechanics? Let 'em fly. I tell them too.Smile,Wink, & Grin

More tea please, this stuff ain't bad. Back to the back for more conversing over trademrks. It's hard because I see both sides of the story and agree with a bit of each opinion.Confused I like the territory point. It is true in many cases.

in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please & thank you.

Picked up another carnival ride for the wife, the IHC Thunderbolt. The work sure is piling up though, as all the rides are kits except 3. And those three are music box types that will need to be torn apart and motorized from under the table. At least most of her town is ready-built, which will help. Of course I still have my own layout to build...Dunce

Will be in a corner booth watching trains.

Bama,

I have the same thing several 5 car sets, a few separate units.  But, like I mentioned in another thread, it's my railroad so, If I want to run intermodal local with freight, so be it.

Jim, I'll check the HH link.  I know Walthers sometimes has them on sale too.  It just seems sometimes the small stuff costs as much as the big stuff.  Course, I could always get undec and paint them myself.  The warehouse across from here sees alot of different container units.  Time for the camera.

Ryan, that Shrimp Gumbo sounds real good aw-huh!
