Actually, we plant that stuff so we can get a few summer days without them noisy cityfolk crowding up the place the whole time.  Well, not really but it's not a bad idea.

Good Evening Diners!

All this talk of pie and no one has mentioned the main course variety as in steak & kidney, tortiere, or my favourite, shepherds pie. I'll have a large helping of shepherds pie please Chloe and don't forget the A1 sauce. For desert I'd like, let me see---- well yes , pie, apple I think with a nice piece of sharp cheddar.

Well our balmy weather, -3C today, is about to end and we are headed back to the deep freeze tomorrow with a forecast windchill of -38C. It was sure nice while it lasted. It was even mild at night. I had to take Pippa out at about 3 a.m. and it was only -10C or so with no wind, very pleasant. All I can say is I apologize in advance to all those south and east of Winterpeg for what you are about to recieve.

Normally my wife is at the restaurant Thursday nights but she has been home the last few days with a nasty cold and cough. I've been running trains and have my Mountain class ready to go with a sort of a passenger consist. To cut down the long car issue on my small layout I often use a through baggage(glorified box car), a couple of express reefers and a baggage car. Sort of an express package service circa 1958.

Say Luke, did you ever get that sound decoder and if so do you like it?

I see there are many cat fanciers in the Diner and while we have dogs, I grew up with a cat that lived 21 years. She was a white Persian. I used that cat experience 2 years ago when we were in Africa. We went to a wildlife park in Nairobi and our guide was able to arrange what he called the "Cheetah hug". We went into the Cheetah enclosure where they had 2 cheetahs in space that was probably 2 acres. One was very tame and her handler called her and she came over to us. He gave her a shove and she laid down. You then laid beside her for the photo op. I did so and was giving her neck scratches to which she purred loudly. We're talking about a 125 lb. cat here so I do mean loud. Then I don't know what possessed me, but I nuzzled the back of her head with mine, to which she turned her head around and gave me 3 big licks on my cheek. It was either "I really like you" or "perhaps you might be good to eat". It must have been the former as the pictures show that her eyes were closed when she did it. Her tongue was very rough!

Anyway the Mountain( engine, not lion) is panting on the main line so I'd best let it loose.

Decaf coffee, please & thanks.

***Barry, I believe you are right, Bengals are a bit rare (and expensive). Ours came from a breeder and friend who gave my wife 2 of them some years ago. I have no idea how old Yin is, but she is getting that "old cat look" to her.

As for big cats, I've been fortunate to have hands on with a few of them, including puma, cheetah, snow leopard, bobcat and African lions. All very powerful critters in their own way, some were like petting on chiseled granite. Studying critters up is a fun part of my work as an artist.

Rember the Atlas SD24 with the gear problem I returned to the-bay seller? Well, it was returned today in perfect running order. Whew!

Evening all.  Zoe, I'll have a RBF.  Work was kinda up and down today.  Did the brake check on the church van, found no problems, cleaned and adjusted the rears, cleaned and lubricated the slide points on the front brakes, let 'er fly!  After that, did an oil change, did a serpentine belt on a Durango, and then at the end of the day, had a Jeep Cherokee come in...and right as it did....it slung a piston through the side of the block.  Oh well, I'll get my prices tomorrow and let 'em know.  I guess tonight's goal for things is going to be look up CSX's current engine roster and paint schemes and see what I can find out there.  I'll be over by the window, going over the goodies.

I had me a little persomal size strawberry PIE today.

Worked on the car some more today. I'm still trying to chase down that rough running problem. I've blown out the manifolds, changed the EGR valve, changed the O2 sensor, checked the crankshaft and camshaft sensors and reset the computer. The only small thing I haven't checked out yet is the MAS sensor. If that's not the problem that just leaves the injectors. Those 6 of those babies and they cost almost $90, each! I'm gonna try some Seafoam in it at the end of the month. That stuff isn't cheap, $8 a bottle.

Jeff did you check the fuel filters?

That was the first thing I checked and replaced. Filters are good and fuel pressure is 47 psi.

Good morning.

It's 54 and partly cloudy. The high is expected to be around the mid 70's and it will be partly cloudy.

I caught the wolf spider that was residing in my Walther's engine house and relocated it to the underside of my neighbor's trailer. That should make a dent in the bug population there. Now that the engine house has been vacated I can start work on modifying the doors. I intend to make the two single doors into one large door as I did with the old engine house at the other end of the layout.  Car problems continue. It's starting to look like an injector issue. It runs OK but is somewhat jerky on acceleration. I'm going to run some Seafoam cleaner through it at the end of the month, sooner if I can get the money for it before then. It's $8 a bottle. That's a lot cheaper than a new injector. There;s 6 of those babies. At $89 each that comes to $534 just for the injectors. That doesn't include the cost of new gaskets and seals for the intake system, all of which must be disassembled to get to the fuel rails. Had dinner with the parents yesterday. Beef tips with rice and gravy, green beans, sweet potato and dinner rolls then attended fire dept safety meeting during which we had a fire call come in. Turned out it was a contained control burn. I'm watching CSB safety videos today. (CSB=Chemical Safety and Hazards Investigation Board). Real eye opening stuff! It's really surprising what a lack of knowledge of safety procedures can do. Well I've bored you enough for one day.

Jeff, did you check the IAC and the TPS?  I don't know what you have but on our Impala pd cars the IAC specs sometimesrun outside of parameters without setting a code.  Also, this is probably a stupid question to ask.... spark plugs?  How many miles and are they platinums?  We have seen platinums with some miles on them not giving good spark on demand.

Just trying to through more confusion at your problem.  The Shell station looks good... and busy!  Must have a good owner!

Oh, by the way, Chloe?  I'll have a cheese omlet and a coffee before I head up to the folks again.  Hospital runs to make.

Never heard of an IAC. Throttle position sensor is good. Plugs and wires were all changed. All 6 coils (no distributer) have been checked. Spark plugs are NOT platinums. It doesn't like platinum plugs. They're Autolite pure copper plugs, same as I've benn running in it for 9 years now. Crankshaft and camshaft sensors have been checked, EGR valve and O2 sensor have been replaced. (The O2 sensor was burned out and the computer didn't pick it up). Vacuum lines have been checked. Still have to check the MASS sensor. It's a MAF cold wire type They can be picky.

Hey Everbody, I guess a bacon double cheeseburger with Onion rings and a Dr Pepper Puhleeze. And Thank You! It’s a bit early for that but hey, it sounds good.

Well, Place has been buzzing here. There’s so many pages of……….Uh what’s wrong ? There is a feeling here that I’m not used to. Kinda downbeat. Kinda like you found out someone doesn’t like PIE. ConfusedNah, that’s a silly notion. Anyway there’s so many pages of info here I can’t remember it all. Soooo….. I won’t even pretend to have a memory.

Spent yesterday helping my Mother move to her new apartment. She’ll be 80 this year and doesn’t get around to well so she’s leaving the family home and moving into Springfield. She’s worried that I won’t get in to see her if she moves “all the way to Springfield”. I assure her that it’s not horse and buggy days and it won’t take too long to get in there. And besides she is moving near my LHS, so I tease her and say it’s a good thing she moved near there because I can stop in as I pass by.Smile,Wink, & Grin

Beautiful day yesterday we had gorgeous weather. 50 degreesF.Big Smile

Jeffrey- IAC is Idle Air Control. Located on the throttle body, it controls the idle of your engine compensating for loads at idle. Most of the time you will only notice it not functioning when the car is at idle. Idle low, idle floats etc. You could also notice a stumble upon accelerating from an idle especially when the car is cold. Can easily be confused with the throttle position sensor in diagnosis. I forget what your problem was or what type of car you’re dealing with (Can’t find the post)but because Eric suggested the IAC I’m assuming it fits as a possibility. You will more than likely need a special tool that allows you to make the IAC work on demand to definitively determine whether the IAC is functioning. I recall you said the computer set a code. It could set off a different code based on what other functions it is causing to get improper readings. Maybe, maybe not. There are a few things you can check yourself to see if it works, maybe. With the engine running, turn on your air conditioner and listen to see if the idle picks up to compensate for the load. If it does not, turn the engine off. And remove the IAC. Turn the ignition switch to on, don’t start. The plunger should move. If it does not, check for power to the IAC. If you have power chances are the IAC is bad. If you don’t have power you’ll have to trace it back. I know this is rather vague with a lot of maybes and could be‘s, but I usually hesitate to diagnose something “over the phone” as quite frankly there are so many reasons a car can do something. Without standing there, you either over simplify the cause or try to go for the opposite. Usually sending someone off on a wild goose chase, spending a lot of time and sometimes money for nothing. Then if it isn’t what’s wrong I feel bad because of it. This is just a suggestion you can try without spending any money and not a whole lot of time if the symptoms fit. Or if you just run out of things to try. Good luck.Thumbs Up

Well gonna start my day. Have a good one

Finished up the lake scenery last night, photos to come.

Today I might work on stuff by the smallest hill. Have to clean up under the table. I know there's... Well actually, I have no clue whats down thereWhistling Probably some of that N scale stuff that I thought I got rid of. My uncle gave it to me about two years ago. The dogs are taking on about some thing so I'd better check.
