Evening all.
Just got back from the Baptismal Mass tonight. Two surprises: Father Fong was NOT the Presider, he decided to listen to Confessions instead, tonight, which meant that Fr. Anthony, our regular Priest was presiding. Surprise two: Our choir director phoned in with the flu, which mean that the whole thing fell on ME. Lordy, I hate playing and conducting at the same time. Anyhow, as I was putting the music on the piano, Fr. Anthony walked by, rubbed my bald spot (a Habit of his, if you'll pardon the joke) and whispered, "Watch me carefully, this is going to be QUICK!" I looked at him and said, "How quick?" He grinned and said, "I want to get back to the Friary in time to watch 'NCIS' on cable."
We FLEW through that Mass tonight. I'm bloody EXHAUSTED! But it went without a hitch, the choir was right with me and I was right with Fr. Anthony, we got those six little dears all Baptized, Chrismed, Garmented and Candled in RECORD time. And it was very smooth. Heck, I even got home in time to watch 'NCIS' and I live fifteen miles from the church, LOL!
So: Tomorrow: Another balmy day predicted (OK, OKAY, SORRY I MENTIONED IT!) and more work on and UNDER the MR.
Jeff: I feel for you, I've got two access holes under the Buttes and I built them when I was handsome and skinny. I'm neither anymore, and popping myself up into them is a REAL chore, these days. However, if I tried your technique, I'd have the Buttes right in my lap, because my cross-bracing there is all discombobulated. But I know your pain, believe me! Unfortunately, I can't do much to widen the access holes, because that's where my hidden reverse loop runs. In fact, if I'm not careful when I rise up, I whack my chin on the track. Ah, planning----
Mark: Take it from a high school music teacher, you keep working on those drums like you are, and there isn't a high school in your area that isn't going to want to kidnap you. Like I said, "You da MAN!"
Going to hit the late nite TV tonight--I DVR'd an old movie called THE BIG CLOCK with Ray Milland and Charles Laughton (you HAVE heard of them, haven't you? ). Saw it on TV about a year ago and it's one of the cleverest thrillers I've seen in years. Finally got a chance to record it from TCM, so I'm going to curl up with a beer and some pizza and enjoy a classic movie with a nifty plot and GREAT dialogue.
Best to all, continued prayers to those in need.
Tom
HM--looks like late night pizza's on me.

(Yawn) Well look at the time, better get on to bed. Got to go visit the Big Guys house in the mornin' ya know.International pie day tomorrow so everybody brings a pie tomorrow evening and we sit around and eat everybodies pies.
Jim- well everything was going pretty good until the weathering. Al was going well and looking pretty good and as usual I bungled it up. Why don't I leave well enough alone. Oh well. Maybe it will look better when I busy the scene up, add some landscaping and stuff. You know add distractions.
Sawyer- caught your photos over at WPF. Looks good. Seems you and I were working on the same building kits. Not the same building but Pikestuff kits. I'm using the showroom warehouse, I think is the name, for my Baitshop/pizza/garage. I cut the warehouse short more like repair garage size.
(yawn) Well time to hit the hay. Prayers for those in need.

Twhite: That means a lot to me, reminds me of our school's music teacher. She was new this year and heard that I was a drummer, and had me play the congas for the Christmas program... I told her about the concert and she came, and after the whole thing she walked up to me and said: "Mark, that was amazing. I had no idea you were that good, that's really inspirational. I'm really sorry for just making you play the congas for the concert, but you were so graceful to not say a word about it." That made me chuckle.

***Jim, all the critters are doing fine. Thanks for asking. Temps will be up in the 40'sF with rain showers today, so ice should be melting away.
***Sue, nice bike!
Got all my N scale stuff moved into the new train room. Just set it all against the far wall. As has been suggested, it's time to stake out my territory before the wife takes over the room. Our piles take up about the same amount of space, but with mine being N and hers being HO, you do the math.

Good morning,
Still snowing.
Jim it's not as hard as it sounds.
Sue, what do you mean warmer weather? You 25 year olds should be able to handle this weather riding a bike, just wear warmer gloves.

Good morning. It's 55 and partly cloudy. The high should be in the upper 60's and it will be partly cloudy. At least I got some layout work done yesterday. I cut one of the access holes out so it's 4 inches larger. That kept me occupied for a couple of hours. When I went under the layout to start work I had shifted around until I was in a comfortable position and had just started to mark out the area I was going to cut when one of the neighbors came knocking on the door. Have you ever wished for a handy button you could push and zap them? I had to drop everything, crawl out from under the layout and go to the door only to find that the person was looking for my next door neighbor. I simply pointed to his trailer then closed the door. That was almost as irritating as finding an encyclopedia salesman on the doorstep. I crawl back under the layout and get back into my comfortable spot and wouldn't you know it, the phone rings. I crawled back out, picked up the phone and it was a recording from a pizza place telling about their specials. Oh, this was getting irritating. So, under I go for the third time. This time I was able to get the bulk of the work done. I got all the cutting done and just had to pull the access panel out to do a little work on it. Since there wasn't anymore sawdust flying around I took my safety goggles off, popped the three barrel locks that hold the panel in place and dropped the panel down and dropped what seemed like a half a ton of sawdust right into my eyes. That was the real capper. After getting to the sink and flushing my eyes I went back under the layout and completed the work. I didn't have anything to do with the layout for the rest of the day. Still here in Rockaway, snowing outside. Came here thinking that Mom was suffering from stress with Dad being moved around from rehabs to nursing homes. We had to call an ambulance last night. After a CAT scan and blood work.......90% sure Liver and Bone cancer. Great way to start off the year, first Dad, now Mom. Well, we three kids (we're old 44,48,52) will deal with it and persevere.
I guess I'll be taking thosepassenger trains home sooner than I thought. Hey, you know what? Maybe I'll build a diorama for the dining room. A passenger station museum setup. Maybe the Walthers Union Station with the train shed and the engines and first few cars on display.... That way it could be narrow and show off the equipment.
Well, it will be time soon to see Pastor Sherry, yes a woman, and tell her about Mom. Mom is a dedicated volunteer at church....
See everyone later. Keep the rails shiny. Eric
Good morning people---we are getting warmer--still snowing but we will be at -5C today and tomorrow.
ERIC; That doesn't sound good at all---and both cancers as well? YIKES! We will put both your parents on our prayer list---and all of you should take care of yourselves and each other.I had the same situation when my sisters and I had our parents in hospitals etc--
We are staying home today----still trying to catch up with clean up after a main broke down the street from us last evening----it is kind of messy out there------

Yeah, i love those kits. I'm working on a third, and I've got a 4th that I've still got to build. Guess you caught the pics before they got deleted, eh?

Morning Gang:
Eric: I'm sorry to hear the news about your mother. That's rough topped on what's giong on with your dad. My thought's and prayers are with them and you and your family. Remember that we are here if you need us.
Good morning everybody. Theres about 4 inchs of snow and its still coming down. Now thats a good day for some FOOTBALL!!!! It will be good to see the black and gold win today, go STEELERS!!!!!!
I painted the new part of the backdrop yesterday, and am I happy. No, but I can always redo it. I don't have anything layout wise today. Mostly just sit around and do nothing.
Well I gues I will go, and everybody have a good day.
"Rust, whats not to love?"
Mornin' everyone!
The French Toast with a side order of bacon sounds good this morning Flo. Don't forget the Pure Maple Syrup. Oh, and a mug of the dark roast coffee in a FGLK MUg Please!
Eric, that is terrible news on top of what is going on with your dad! Know that you and your family are in my prayers.
Sue nice wheels!
Tom you do get some interesting stuff going on at your church..........
It is 21°F here in the Finger Lakes with a predicted high of 27°F. Possibility of an inch or so of new snow, but nothing to be really worried about.
I'm getting frustrated with the progress on the layout. All the next steps that need to be done are waiting on materials that have been ordered and haven't arrived yet. May put all the parts that are out waiting to be assembled into a box and then get out a kit (probably another car) and do that. By the time I'm half way through that in the middle of the week, the backordered parts should be here......... Maybe not......
Have a great day and stay warm!

You all have a great Sunday....Jerry
Thanks Jerry.
Hey Robby, I tihnk this Steelers-Ravens game is basically what the NFL is. Two high-powered offenses going up against some hard-hitting, no-nonsense defenses, in the cold, in the snow, with a trip to the superbowl on the line. I'm pulling for the steelers, b/c I want Big ben to prove that first ring wasn't a fluke, but if the Arizona Cardnials get in, then I've got to pull for them, no matter who else is in. Going to be a very interesting NFL Sunday.
A good omen for the Cardinals-I played my friend on Madden NFL 2007, me w/ the Cardinals, him w/ the Eagles, at the cardinals stadium, and I won. It was a shoot-out, lol, I won it through the air for the most part.
Jerry, I will try to get some shots of the backdrop later today or tomorrow. Let you see what I have going. I really like your layout shot.
Hey all!
Had to teach this morning, and I decided to make home made bread for the pot luck lunch. I made three loaves and man, was it good! Warm, fresh, home made bread, straight from the oven, with warmed, whipped butter........mmmmmmmmm good! While I was waiting for the bread to rise I made home made buttermilk pancakes with whipped butter and real 100% maple syrup. Yeah, I know, my diet is shot.....but who cares? That stuff was delicious!
Well, I've gotta run! Got to go to a birthday party my son was invited to.
Later!
P.S. - Sue, sweet scoot! Almost makes me want one......and I don't usually go for the crotch rocket type!
in a SOUTHERN mug, please & thank you.
***Jerry, your latest pic is now our desktop background.
Wife and I cleaned house today, or at least made some progress towards that end. I don't mind pushing a vacuum. As I see it, it is just another power tool. Plus, it's important to my health to keep dust to a minimum, which is not one of my strong points.
Took a bunch of measurements for some shelves, an over the stove vent cover, a small counter top, and an inset shelf thing for the train room. Time to start cutting.
Have a good day all.
"GO CARDINALS"
Hi everyone here, mind if I join you guys?
No problem, we're a friendly bunch.
Finally got my road done, my geep weathered, and the silos and transfer building on MPB weathered. Pix to come tonight right after my game or first thing tomorrow, I promise.
Hello madsinger. Join on in. Well I had fun today. Replacing a toilet seat. What was fun was the bolts were rusted in and I had to cut them off with the Dremel. It was slow and noisy but I eventually got them out. Putting the new seat on was a snap.
Just coffee for me thanks, saving room for pie.I guess it’s National pie day and not International
Eric- Sorry to hear about your Mother. Her, your Father, you and your family are in our prayers.
Rob- Today was vacuum day for me too. I’m thinking about tweaking it a bit. AR AR AR AR More power!
Madsinger- I think I met you over on another thread. to the diner where the weather is always the way you want it . Glad you took up on the invite from Tom. We talk about anything (except politics) and eat well. Order anything you like. Your sign on name, it wouldn’t happen to mean that you sing would it. There are a few accomplished musicians that stop in.
Nothing much to report, just piddling around today doing a bit of landscaping around the Pizza/bait/gas and garage. Had to stop and fix a tire. Then back inside. Made the obligatory chest freezer to set outside for the bait. Set on a low setting of course. Got a space picked out in back for the junk.. Er…I mean extra parts. Scratched the dogs tummy. Bit of housework, you know Sunday stuff.
I’ll slide over here in the corner and rest a bit. I need a napkin to wipe the drool of my mouth from WPF.
