Garry, I will keep all of you in my prayers!

Zoe? No, nothing for me this evening.  Blood test in the morning.  Doc wants to see if the statin he put me on is working and not destroying my liver............Shock

Long meeting tonight.  Planning for the local MLK service on the 19th.  The local Methodist Church is hosting the event this year.  They are a great group of people to work with!  After I got home I put together more of the decking for the freight house.  I got a package from Kappler today so I am good to finish the project, hopefully by the weekend......

Have a great evening all!

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO

We'll get there sooner or later!

Good evening.......

We have completed our trip. Time to get back to work on the layout.

Welcome new diners (I hope I have all) ... Unca Roggie, Eric, John1947, and Boggy. It's a pleasure meeting you.

It's not looking good for Nick, brother-in-law who had a stroke in the evening of January 1st.

Good evening, All.  I am sorry that I missed Ryan's soup at lunch.  I will take some for dinner if there is any left.  The RBF sounds good, too.

Finally, it is warming up around here.

Dick,  We  got the last of the fire wood put in the woodshed.  Some of it was pretty dry for being out in the weather.  I am still hoping that we won't have to touch it though.  Sorry to hear about the furnace problems.  Is your wood heat supplemental heat?

Jason, pardon me but I never caught it before, I see we are both fond of the T&P. Mine however is a modern freelance. I notice you’re Navy, at least you folks have a dry place to sleep and an ICE CREAM MACHINE!. Don’t deny it,Smile,Wink, & Grin I knew some submariners and A LOT of Marines. Now, now, no jokes, believe it or not I have a soft spot for them.Big Smile

Todd, I love the T&P their old main line ran about a mile from my grandparents house in Millsap, Texas. Of course by the time I came around it was the UP. My brothers and I used to spend our summers walking down the tracks to Bennett where there is a brick factory. There was also a  Cotton Belt branch that ran north of my parents house, but it's owned by the Ft. Worth and Western.

My road is freelanced too. I'd rather take aspects from multiple railroads and turn them into my own. I'm going to use nothing but T&P Muley cabooses in my fleet. I'm not going to deny anything about the food on the boat. It's pretty good. The quality goes down a little bit once we switch from fresh to powdered eggs, but I don't complain. Espcially on day 70, our cooks do pretty good considering what they have to work with.

Oops, Looks like I got top of the page. OK guys, take it easy on this nubie and leave me a little money for the taxi ride homeWink

We have Speeders for that. (RR I mean. I am good driver) Is that YOUR really cool classic fire engine?

Evening all. Last  Sat was my Birthday, but I don't tell you all that, least not until I'm a major. (one more year)  Here's the Late Christmas/Trainshow/Birthday haul. Christmas with Dad included a 1999 Athearn Cristmas set, a rivarossi mail car to be repainted into the 587' tool car, Autn Jan sent dad and I four roundhouse hoppers ( santa-fe, up, bn, one forgotten) and a roundhouse bn boxcar.  Friday Dad and I picked up a MilkBone hopper from Mantua, which needs a dog in it and a partial load, and a Sargento Cheese car from Athearn.

Train show revealed a Lima TGV Powered-coach-coach-unpowered for 20, motor has a short in it, a walthers kitchen car, a four car set of IHC worktrain cars, a roundhouse Lima Locomotive Works demo baggage car, several holiday commemorative cars, a pre-DCC  P2K C&O BL2 for $10, and a Athearn commemorative swticher dummy, $20 can't win them all I guess.
The best part of it was working the Naptown booth and seeing the enthused kids come over. One perant I rember asked us if we could test an engine for him. "Sure." Old Spectrum GP30 in Pennsy. While I put it on the track, he's riding about "did I do good? Is this a good locomotive? etc. I set it on, dial in 00 on the controller, and it takes off like a dream. Not a peep., not a grind, not a noise. Barely even the ltronic hum of DC on DCC. I catch the price tag on the box that says $20 on it. He keeps asking if he did good, and his kid asks if that's his engine I'm running. "Yes, it is." It's good, right? he lowered it to 15. "If you keep telling me how good it is, you aren't gonna get it back." I joke and return the loc to it;s box and back to him. He was pleased, I think. I warned him of DC, and of the warranty card in Bachmann.

And for the birthday, rahher ironically, Dad had gotten a set of four of the Roundhouse Lima Loco Works demo cars way beforehand. None of them the baggage we got at the show. No clue that we'd find it. Do still need to assemble them though.

Not much happened today, weather was nice. Yah, yah, yah Buggy, I know, but for us….. You’re just lucky for Lynyrd Skynyrd or boy would I have some not so nice things to say about that area. ROFLOL (not really, I’m just joking. Jealousy on my part for the weather)

Got my present from the bay today. Trackside Shanties for 2 bucks. One can always use a shed.

Not much to report we had a good Sunday at church. 85 attendance. About 15 more and we’d have to open the overflow room. Yeah!!Had to play hooky though, the wife’s cousin was in Spfld for a couple of hours and went to have B-fast at the truck stop and say Happy Birthday. So does it mean you’re a redneck if you celebrate your birthday in a truck stop? (her husband is a truck driver and she was riding with him delivering cheese around the country.)Confused

I'll have a buffalo steak, medium rare, with fried okra, buttermilk biscuit, and green beans, and a pot of coffee. Well I had a good first day back at work. We got to go in two hours late because of the snow, and then pretty much just sat around until 1400 until we had a CO's call for all the E-6 and below. It's nice getting to listen to what the Skipper has to say and, and openly telling him what you think without fear of the Chiefs coming down on ya. I got home, and my order from Dan's Train Depot came in. I'm finally the proud owner of a Texas and Pacific Muley caboose. My wife was a little upset that one caboose cost so much when the one she saw in the Walthers flier was less than twenty dollars. But after I explained to her that it is brass and brass cost much much more due to the fact that is prototype specific, and I've been saving for it for most of the year, she calmed down. I'll have to get some pictures posted soon. But until then I'm gonna sit by the window to eat my supper and watch the trains.

Jeff; A buddy of mine is doing me a favour---he is building me a crawler or whatever it is called---platform with wheels to go under the benchwork----all I am thinking now is 'great, now all I'm going to do is whack my forehead off the *^%%&$ benchwork instead of the back of the noggin'----I think it was jackson's postulate that went " Any solution to a problem will result in injuries to the opposite side of the part that the solution was made for in the first place" --- or something like that----You see, I'm still a bit of a Murphologist-----WhistlingSmile,Wink, & Grin

Jeff; Where was the short? I hate that kind of thing---always gets in the way--- I have a great habit of smacking my cranium on corners of benchwork et cetera---Banged Head--causes headaches---

The short was right where a trunk of wires pass through a couple of joists. Wouldn't you know that the three wires I needed were in the thickest part of it, and the whole thing is twisted too. I had to disconnect the wires just beneath the location of the turnout and pull them back through the roll of wires to see what I was dealing with. Two of the wires had been pulled taut when they had gotten caught on the wood cabinet of the heater as it was pushed under the front edge of the layout causing the thin insulation on the wires to pull apart - where else? - in the middle of the trunk of wires naturally. Both the wires did this at the very same spot and came in contact with each other causing the switch machine to ground out. I taped the damaged areas of the wires with electrical tape and ran them back through the joists (on the outside of the trunk this time) and reconnected them to the turnout. All this while sitting slightly hunched over under the layout which did no favors for my neck. After I was finished I sat back and got nailed on the back of my head by another joist. OUCH! The layout is built solid enough that I could walk around on it if need be and at 260 I'm no lightweight.

Well, guess what? I now remember why English class is annoying. This poetry crud. We have to do a take-off poem on this one we read today in class that has an abba rhyme scheme, and an iambic quadraticmeter or something (not sure how to spell that, point is, 4 sets of a low-then-stressed sylable per row). So yeah, it sucks.

Evening everyone. I"ll take an order of the Beef Barley soup and a coffee. Before I go sit in the corner I just want to remind Grayfox to save some money for the show coming up at the Big "E" shortly.

Nuff said. I"ll be quiet now and enjoy my soup and coffee.

Good evening, clody raw day here today, freezing rain this morning made the driveway fun to navigate down the 3% grade to get the morning paper. A bigger storm due here tomorrow night and all day Wednesday, 6+ inches of snow, then freezing rain "maybe" on top. We are right on the dividing line between all snow and frezing rain changeover.

I lucked out with furnace repair, only $90. We were able to use a spare relay on the zone controller, and the relay on the aqua-stat worked OK also. Good thing it didn't cost more because I need to make a HD run to get more supplies for the train room bench-work.

Got more work done on bench-work today, and with the storm coming later tomorrow, I will be out early to get the wood.

JEFF: I was  going to suggest that you use the 50% rule to trace down your short circuit, but I see you have already found it.

PAUL: Amassing that the little kitten was able survive out in the wild without a rattler or Coyote doing it in. I guess it used up a few of it's nine lives. LOL

As for the waether.. Hummm High of 79 low about 59, Humidity in the 60 percent range. The only bad thing about this weather is that Weeds continue to Grow in this weather Banged Head

I stay logged in 24/7 so all I have to do is click on the forum entry in my bookmarks and I'm on instantly without having to log in.

That's all I needed to hear, That tells me I'm not setting my browser right so I need to checking to that. The reason I asked is that some board have minutes timer log time. I know it can be set manually.

 Next.. the Moderators.

There is "NOBODY" who appreciate Moderators more than I do. As I have mentioned, I run my own Board (non railroad), The Volunteers Moderators are Great because they have an "Interest" in where they serve. I had 10 Moderators  3 Administrators and 2 Assistance Administrators All volunteers.. I love everyone of them.

Anyway.. I just wanted to know who I needed to be nice to Wink

 Thanks!

I've been working under the layout today tracking down a short in the wiring of one the turnouts. Wasn't hard to find, just took time to correct.
