I have a T shirt that says this, without the graffics. Speaking of which, I'll have a coffee in a "UNION PACIFIC" mug, please & thanks.

***Sawyer, you weren't kidding about that Colts/Chargers game...man, that was good. Have nothing against the colts, but I was pulling for the Chargers. Basically, I tend to back any team that is further west, as that is where my heart is. I may live in the South, but I have no connection to or reason to root for eastern teams.

No news on the train front. Going to work on some window & baseboard trim today.

New to all of this.  This where everyone sits down for a coffee and a bite to eat, shoot the breeze etc?

Eric

Yeah, but they got other drinks and such, like sweet tea, speaking of which, I'll take a large sweet tea and a burger please. Lunch on me today.

Well, I was right about the chargers Colts game. MAN, WHAT A GAME!!!! I knew Darin Sproles was going to be a big factor, and he was, scored the winning TD, and did a good job all night. And the kicker is I'm 5 and a half inches taller than him.

Good games on today, I'm probably going to pull for the Dolphins, just b/c, well, they're a goods tory. I want either San diego or Pittsburgh to win it all though (Steelers are cool, and Big ben is a class act).

Whistling

GOOOD MORRning all you Modelers,

Chloe, when you get a moment I'll have a double hot chocolate and a cinnamon danish.

I'm struggling to be upbeat here today, working at staying cheerful.  But it is hard sledding.

For those of you complaining about the weather let me make you feel better. On my way to work this morning the thermometer in my truck said it was -35c, the radio said it was -37c and with the wind chill it was -51c.  Of course my truck was plugged in and started but was it ever stiff. Left it running for awhile but it really didn't want to move very well.  I doubt that we will have any visitors or tours here today but we are here in case they do show up.

CN Charlie and Kevin (BlueHills) I hope you guys are in good shape (warmth wise) and staying out of the weather. Boy this has been a long spell. Over two weeks of this sharp cold is definatly long enough.  I have lots of snow to move as well but I am waiting for it to get a lirttle milder.  We were really relieved to hear that two of my sons got home alright last night through the cold. One was going to Spokane, Wa.  and the other was going to Grande Prairie, Ab., affter a holiday visit. Not good driving weather although I did lots of it through out my career. Another son is on the road today , Bus driving for the Prov. bus company.

The laughable saying over the years about our cold weather was "Yeah, but it is a dry cold". But lately the humidity has been above 80% some days, so it really does bite.

Looking forward to some days off this week to get down and dirty in the train room. So much work to do I hardly no where to start, so sometimes I don't get much done and just run trains.

Sounds like everyone has had a very good Christmas and New Years. Prayers and Blessing to all in need, especially thinking about Jerry and Sally right now.

Will check back in later.

Hey dere, Ryan. Tell you what I will do. I'll send you as many warm air in tank cars as you want if you'll return them loaded with water. We are still in a drought and fires are a big concern.

Ahhh lunch time.  I will take a double cheese burger, and a Dr.Pepper.

Tick dip, now that sounds good.  I have tried to melt the block or even half of the velveeta, and can't.  I guess I am doing something wrong.  Thats why I normally buy the stores dip.

I am taking it easy today.  Watch some football, and just be a stump on the log.

I guess I will finish up, and be back for dinner!!

Morning folks, yes, rain again...so much so that my back deck planks are starting to grow nice little rows of algae and I slipped and fell yesterday morning with a thin layer of ice on it....yikes!

Ryan look at it this way: Drought's over!

I know....I know....but I thought we got a lot of rain when we lived in New Orleans....my water logged self is not used to all this moisture in the Piedmont! The drought officially ended in the middle of summer, the lakes are overflowing now! Feast or famine I suppose...

Tick Dip!! Sounds like something we make alot of. We use Velveeta ( I know you're cringing chef) salsa and ground sausage. Yes sirree it is goood! But now I shall call it Tick Dip!Big Smile

Hey, Velveeta is all good, nothing wrong with that stuff at all! In fact I've made many a queso with the soft block cheese. I kinda admire it like I do duct tape, it has 1,000's of uses in the culinary world. Chef

And since I value my well being I'm not going to share what the weather is over here in Northeast Florida. Whistling

Got two of my Grandsons here breaking in that table I made for the GEO track train set. Worked out great and showed me right off the bat that landscape would be a waste of time.

Ryan look at it this way: Drought's over!

We're having lots of weather here in the Finger Lakes as well.  Right now we are having something we like to call sunshine.....  We don't see it around here often, but when we do we enjoy it.  Later today it will become mostly cloudy, then we get rain and freezing rain tonight with a sprinkling of snow showers tomorrow.  Hey Philip, keep your weather where you live!  We got enough of our own here!

My sister in Indiana just got home from visiting her daughter and family in Florida.  The stewardess had this to say upon arrival in South Bend: "Welcome to the North Pole where the temperature is 50 degrees:  25 in the morning and 25 in the evening!" Then she added, "This plane is doing a half-hour turn-around to go back to Sanford-Orlando Airport in case any of you have changed your mind......"

Zoe, I'll have my usual and have a seat by the window and watch the trains.

Have a great day!

Morning Flo......errr.....Chloe.... I'll have the waffles and maple syrup please!

For the record...Tick Dip, at least the edible variety is not something you want to scrub over your flea infested dog. Rather, it is a concoction of cheese, hot sausage, ground beef and salsa that is melted into some of the best chip dipping stuff you will ever taste!

Hey Flip, please bottle up some of that sunshine and ship it on up here on the old rails of the SCL railroad. Pluuuezzzee....

Morning folks, yes, rain again...so much so that my back deck planks are starting to grow nice little rows of algae and I slipped and fell yesterday morning with a thin layer of ice on it....yikes!

Anywho.....I cobbled together another video short, this time from the Smoky Mountain Trains Museum that we toured just prior to our train ride on the GSMRR excursion the day after Thanksgiving.

Enjoy!

Morning all!

I'm up doing the morning coffee thing before I head out to teach.

We've got the wacky weather going on here, just like many of the rest of you.

Today: A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly before 1pm. Areas of dense fog before 1pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a temperature up to 54, then falling to around 41 by 5pm. West wind between 14 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. Northwest wind between 5 and 10 mph.

After that, it's rain, snow, sleet, and general nastiness as far as the eye can see!

I figure that this week I can redo the garage to make room to start another project.  I've got the makings of a hot tub, so I think I'll hang the bikes from the ceiling and move some stuff around so I've got room to get that project underway.  Should be an interesting project s I've never built one of those before!

Oh, and I've noticed some new faces around here lately.  Sorry I missed ya the first time around, but how 'bout this for a welcome?

Good morning Barry. Thanks for the info.  Hope the snow hasn't gotten too deep up N O B.

We expect another boring day of sunshine and temps 79 to 81. I'd rather perspire than freeze.

fect153; a timeout message is when a page has taken too long to get processed in the server--It is a type of server error. On my computer it generally comes up as 'Timeout Error' and denotes a server error has occured---you then have to input the page again------loads of funGrumpy

Good Morning from us up here in mixfused London----wherein we are now sunny with current temps of -8C. We are under a FREEZING RAIN warning with freezing rain/drizzle this morning changing to occassional showers this afternoon and a high of 5C. There is also a chance for a THUNDERSTORM this afternoon. Tonight will stop having showers and just be cloudy with a low of -8C and winds of up to 60kmh from the west----are we mixfused? Around here we have a bit of everything in one day-----Whistling

 Good morning from Sundown Louisiana.

It's currently 68 and cloudy. The high will be in the mid 70's and there is a chance of rain.

Didn't get much done yesterday. I started work on rerouting some layout wiring that was displaced by the installation of the new heater last week and I had to repair a leaking water line outside the trailer yesterday. That's almost as much fun as teaching brain surgery via long distance telephone call with constant service disruptions.

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA  71446-6114      1/4/2009

Wind Chill:  66°F
Humidity:  100%
Dew Point:  66°F

So Far Today
High:  68°F
Low:  66°F
Rain:  0.00"
Rain Rate:  0.00"/h
Gust:  7mph SSW

Isolated light showers moving northeast at 15 mph can be expected over the inland region and over the near coastal waters west of Marsh Island. Trace amounts of rain will accompany these showers.

Today  High: 75    Mostly cloudy. Patchy fog early in the morning. A slight chance of showers in the morning...then a chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 70s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.

Tonight  Low: 45    Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of showers in the evening...then a chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms after midnight. Cooler. Lows in the mid 40s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Don't pay the ransom fellas, I've escape. I'll have an irish coffee please Janie

Went n seen JERRY yesterday morning. Seems his bedsores got the best of him at home, so he went in the hospital for a night, then the nursing home. He's healing up now and hopes to be back home this week.. SALLY's doing ok too, she'd been staying some with their son while Jerry's been gone.

We had heavy fog last night and it was still foggy when I got up, but it's lifted now. Weather guessers had rain changing to snow today, but the radar shows nothing anywhere close to us. We've still got cold, rain, freezing rain and down right nasty weather forecast for the rest of the week.

Thought about trying to catch up some in here, but the post seem to be multiplying rabbits lately.

WELCOME to all the new folk coming in here lately, good to have some new faces along with all my friends.

And a Happy Burthen day for anyone I've missed.

Looks like most everybody's been busy with trains and such. As for here, well there's nothing new going on to speak of. Have been running trains some and getting a few odds n end done on the layout.

Was watching the US farm report this morning and they had a segment on the G scale Christmas layout at the UT Gardens. Found a link for it here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyhnabCA2Lo&NR=1

I was sure hoping Falcons would beat Cards. But, the Chargers did beat the Colts, so I'm a happy camper. Now to find My BIL and collect my $10, plus give him the same hard time I got over the Bears.

Plan on watching the games today, I'm not picky on the Dolphins/Ravens game. But hoping for the Vikings over the Eagles.

Best gets round ta chores. No big plans for the day [other than football], but am hoping to get over to the LHS this morning, if Mothers in the mood.

Thoughts for all those in need n hope ya'll has a gooden.

Evening everyone.  Just got back from playing Epiphany Vespers--hoo boy, talk about THEATER!  In the best way possible, I mean.  We had Sacred Dancers this time--Epiphany is almost a big a celebration as Christmas if you're Roman Catholic--and in my Parish, they celebrate it in a BIG way!  The music was spectacular--I'm exhausted from playing it--and the Homily almost made me stand up and cheer!  GREAT evening--a perfect end to the Christmas Season.

Okay, now that I've got that out of the way, Tongue

Blownout:  You told us of "Spring's" new toy, but you forgot to mention what it was--it's not the RS-3, is it?  If so, then I KNOW that he and Remi and Spooky are e-mailing each other when we're all asleep, LOL!

Robby:  You know if I were modeling diesels, I'd be using those W&LE colors, only with a "Rio" and a very large "GRANDE" underneath.  Those are really handsome colors, aren't they?

Buggy:  Sign - Welcome.  I think you'll like the place.  And the Forum in general.  I know that I sure do!

Ray:  I think we convinced Father Andrew that Mozart is NOT 'secular'.   Especially after I kept my cool anhd calmly explained that "Ave Verum Corpus" is probably 36 measures of one of the most exqusitie religious choral works ever written, and that Mozart was Austrian, so of COURSE he was Catholic.  Whew! Shock   As Kay said to me later, "He's lucky, Jim's favorite choral work could have been CARMINA BURANA--what would he have done about THAT?"  I cracked up.  12-th Century Latin drinking songs?  I admire his wife, always have--she's keeping a level head about this.  Much better than I am.

Got the news today--the Z-6 is supposed to be on the boat from Korea.  Now if the boat just doesn't SINK!!   I still can't believe that a big, hunking brass model of one of the most powerful 4-6-6-4's ever built and with a Maxxon motor and directional lighting is going to be mine for what I think is an absolutely BARGAIN price!  Okay, you all know I'm a Brass Freak--just me, understand, but this one is coming in at a price that for me seems a steal!   Normally I buy used brass at prices somewhat like new BLI's, and the last new brass steamer I bought set me back quite a bit--but it was worth every penny, the way it runs--but this one is going to slide onto my Yuba River Sub for far less.  Wow!   Of course, I'll have to hide it from Remington, the way he keeps eying my YellowstonesWhistling.  Spooky STILL hasn't convinced that big Viking that cabeese are easier.

Speaking of--he's EYEING me again.  Food time.  I think Spooky sends him in here:  "Tell the big bald guy that it's time for dinner, okay?"

SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED!

Best to all, prayers to those in need.

Paul W. Beverung

Jason welcome to the diner. I’m in Parker county half way between Weatherford and Aledo 3 miles south of the parker county airport. Where in Ft. Worth did you live?

Paul, sorry about not responding quicker, I completely missed your post this morning. I grew up in North Richland Hills.

My grandparents were from Millsap (I've spent a lot of time there and in Mineral Wells). My grandparents lived about a mile north of Millsap on 113. After Grandpa passed, Grandmother sold the property and moved to assisted living in Weatherford.  They lived where Millsap ISD is building the new school.

My dad owns property in Brock, and his brother lives in Weatherford. My favorite place to eat is at the Farmhouse there in Cool. Unfortunitly I haven't been able to make it out there the last few times I've been on leave, so I don't even know if it's still around. Looks like we have the same stomping grounds.
