Good morning. It's 64 and cloudy. The high should be in the lower 70's with rain.I'm only working on one project at present. It's am old Athearn GP38-2 chassis with AAR trucks and a Bachmann GP50 body. I'm putting a Bachmann decoder in this Heinz 57 nightmare and it'll be paired up with my Athearn SPSF Kodachrome GP38-2 which also has a Bachmann decoder. The hardest part was adapting the Athearn frame to the Bachmann body. This was definitely a shotgun wedding. I'll let you know how it turns out.Today's Weather for:Sundown, LA 71446-6114 12/15/2008Wind Chill: 64°FHumidity: 94%Dew Point: 63°FSo Far TodayHigh: 66°FLow: 64°FRain: 0.00"Rain Rate: 0.00"/hGust: 7mph SToday Low: 55 High: 72 Patchy fog early in the morning...otherwise mostly cloudy. Give me what ever you have strong.....................I just got laid off, well hours cut.
I knew it was slowing down at work, but they are telling alot of guys to stay home, and I'm down to working 1 day a week. I guess I will have to start doing eBay again. That and look for a part-time job. I might look into unemployment. I had it when I worked at Dicks Distribution Center when it was slow.
Just add me to the list of guys not working. I don't think it picks back up until Feb or March there
We will get by. We always do.
Good thing is I can work on my layout now. I added a backdrop to the picture of the wall exposed. I need to paint and get it looking better. Now I have the time for it.
Jeff I love the cars. Exp. the bugs. I had a 72' and man was it mean. Chrome engine, dual carbs, drag cam, slammed to the ground (rode like a horse and buggy), mustang interior, teal paint (with a purple pearl in it), 4 15in speakers in the backseat. It was sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Oh and was it LOUD!!!!! Neighbor said she was going to call the cops, due to the motor. That was due to the cam, and probably the Stinger pipe.
Well everybody have a good day. I am on my way to get some stuff for the layout, and find something to do later today.

Robby; That working 1 day/wk!? I feel for you--I been there numerous times.
The '72 you had sat how low? I had a '69 Mustang fastback that was quite done up but did not like winter...no weight in the back
Jeff; Quite the haul there. Where'd you find those?
Robby, that’s horrible news and right before Christmas doesn’t make it any better. Where are you working?I just heard a report that China is feeling the pinch of the American economy. They have shut down several of their steel mills, not to mention the lack of shipping stuff over to us. I think the President elect has a big job ahead of himself. Local auto dealers have marked down cars by almost 50% (makes you wonder how much mark up we actually pay).
I also noticed that the price on locomotives is falling rapidly: 2-10-2 and articulateds are down to $100 each.
in a SANTA FE mug, please & thanks.
***Jeffrey, very nice assortment of autos. I think the wife has the yellow/white car. Going to need many many more for the parking lot at the carnival/circus. Would you know where the cheapest place to buy those would be?
***Robby, you needed all those 15's to hear music over the engine. Bet you were indeed a hit with the neighbors. Sorry about your employment situation...Ouch!
***Luke, what part of SC are you in?
***Lee, WHERE are those articulateds on sale for $100 ???
It's raining on & off here.

I was working at a Michilen Retread Plant. They retreaded truck tires, dump truck, you know the big trucks. They laid off several guys. The good thing is the bills are paid for the month, and the gifts have been bought.
The manager said I could probably work one day a week or so. Its there slow time. With the weather up here, and the economy it was bound to happen.
I guess I will have to look for something part-time, and do alittle eBay on the side. The wife does work 2 jobs, and she said she could pick up a couple of extra hours if she needed to. I just don't want her to get burned out.
Things happen for a reason as they say.
Good morning from the frigid Pacific Northwest. Sunny and cold. Our snow will stay for a while with the temps getting down in the teens tonight. Extra work to take care of the animals.
I start work 1 hour late this morning. One snowflake and the world stops.
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Robby, sorry to hear of the job situation. Working one day a week is going to put a serious dent in the wallet. On a different note, what kinds of things do you EvilBay? Maybe we might be interested in buying stuff and we could all benefit.
I do mostly weathering. I don't have much to sell. I normally weather boxcars, some tankers, and I have done a few engines. Heres my website. I haven't up dated it lately, but there is a few cars on there.

Maybe I should up date it today.
Mornin' everyone!
Snow has all but disappeared and the temperature is 52°F right now in the Finger Lakes. More seasonable weather will be back tonight with an overnight low in the mid 20s and rain and snow showers.
I have one more concert to do this week and that will be it for the year.... High School Band, an easy set-up and play. Just a couple announcement mics, and one for soloists in the Jazz Ensemble. I have most of my Christmas shopping done as well so I can actually spend some time on the layout again. Have to go to RS today to get a couple things and get to work.
Hope you all have a great day!

We'll get there sooner or later!
Good Morning all...We had a drop from 54 about midnite last nite to 15 now with rain sleet and ice....I'll have coffee and toast please..Thank You..Just dropped in for a little bit visiting Nurse just left and she changed my dressings and that tuckers me out gonna hit the recliner and see if I can get a nap...You all have a good one...Jerry

That is some excellent work! Do you do other scales too, or just HO?
refill, please & thanks.
Wife has been surfing HO sites and keeps adding to her "must have" list. She might need to go back to working overtime at this rate. Worst part is she wants everything "done now". I understand part of her motive is to give her Dad something to look at when he is here. Which brings up yet another challenge (for me) and that is she now wants the edge of a beach to be represented on her layout. Sinse his stroke, all he has talked about is going to the beach one last time. My wife tried, but when the day to travel arrived, he declined to go. Long story.
Anyone remember where that website is with the HO scale (die cast) Civil War characters?
Rob, Trainworld. No tender comes with it, just as well since you can pick up a decent tender for $25 to $50. Oh, thought of you yesterday at the train show. They had every HO-Scale circus car and gizmo ever created at one table. Human canon ball, tents, figures and animals.
Robby, I find it difficult to understand that, big trucks are still running and I know 90% or better of the trailers have re-treads.
Sue, Good luck with your one snow flake, LOL We have to wait for 12 to 14” before things shut down up here.
Ray, sounds like you will have our left over’s (weather) soon. Sleet, rain/Snow.
Robby, sorry about the job cut back especially right at this time, but hang in there, a guy like you won't be out for long. Also really great work on the weathering. Maybe you should give us lessons, but then again maybe not. Keep your secrets and sell the finished cars on e-bay.
For any of you that are planning to come for a visit be sure to bring your long red woolies. Blue Hills Kevin, CN Charlie and I are enduring -40 C (which at that temp is the same on both scale C and F)wind chills right now. Lots of vehicles not going anywhere. Even though I hate mosquitoes I do long for spring and summer. I'm really starting to wonder after retiring four times and back working, why I don't just quit for good and stay home railroading. Seems like a much better plan.
With all this screwy weather right now be sure to take good care of our four legged friends out there. It can be really rough on them.
Well back to work for now. I get a day off on Friday, boy that seems like a long way off.
You all keep smiling , ya hear !!!

Lee: I'm dropping the package in the mail today.
I have HO shown due to I run HO. Plus I have my couplers in HO, extra wheels, decals, etc. I am sure I could do other scales.
Lee I agree. I know when I first started they said it was going to get slow soon. I didn't know it would be like this. Now someone said if this plant was down south, it would run all year. I guess do to the warmer weather.
My buddy back in NC drives his own 18 wheeler, and he said its hard for him to find work now. I guess once the wife gets home later we can see what we need to do.
CederstrandAnyone remember where that website is with the HO scale (die cast) Civil War characters?
You talkin' about this place? http://www.musketminiatures.com/
Think you could do some N scale weathering? I might be interested in that. I'd help us both out. I'm short on time, you could use a few bucks. We both win!
***Philip, that's the site. Thanks!
I too might be interested in a having a few custom cars painted at some point. With the wife finding more and more stuff She Wants, not sure if I'll be able to swing more than a few. Did I mention she wants a river, too? Oh, and now she wants to add a Zoo back into the mix. So lets see: mountain scenes with a river (think Deliverance), a big top circus tent, carnival rides, zoo, town, and a beach. Gee, sounds like at least a week or two worth of work, eh? (maybe I should just build a cabinet to display my N scale in and give up on a layout of my own all together...)
Light rain here again. Rob
It shouldn't be a problem. You would have to email me to let me know what you would like done. I was getting away from weathering since the new job was taking all of my time.
Since that has seem to slow down, I have all of the time in the world now.
What is the conversion from HO 1:87 = ???mm
Thanks! Rob
