Packer
Jeff: I like that one. It kind of looks like something from a computer game I used to play (Simtown)

I remember a similar type thing from SimCity. If I remember correctly it was a twin C5 Commercial Ctop.

Well, I'm just chilling at home. Most of my college teachers said don't come to class today, so I'm not.

I managed to talk my parents into getting me a BN F45 with sound/DCC for christmas. I managed to save up enough train money to get myself one, so I'll have 2 after christmas. Then I'll run an F45, SD45, SD45, F45 set at the MR clubBig Smile

Jeff: I like that one. It kind of looks like something from a computer game I used to play (Simtown)

Robby: Happy B-day

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Mornin' everyone!

Jeffrey I'm making two Pumpkin Pies on Wednesday, I'll save you one.  But you have to share and be nice!

November must be the month for birthdays for model railroaders.  Seems to have been a lot of them!  Oh, BTW, mine is tomorrow.  I will have reached that magic number 62 then.

I get to go to the doctor this afternoon for my 6 month checkup.  Then I have to clean the house like I said I was going to do yesterday and didn't................

Hope you all have a good day!

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO

We'll get there sooner or later!

Good morning people. Also happy thanksgiving!!!!!

Inch; Joy of xmas cards sounds coolLaugh

'Spring' got into a silly pickle overnight when we were asleep and dislodged 3 branches on the tree.

I just heard that Hamilton ON is considering as part of the anti-smoking bylaw one to stop people who live in public housing from smoking in their own apartments or homes. If they get away with this then they will go further.... ...I'll get off mySoapBox

Lets start off with some hot cocoa, and how about some birthday cake mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Yeah another year and one year closer to 30.  Boy it was yesterday when I remeber having my b-days at Putt-Putt golf with my elementary school friends.

Might see what I can do on the layout today.  Have to wait for the heat guy around 11.

I finally got my Railbox (intermountain), and see what I can do weather wise.  It use to take me about2-3 days to weather a car, but since I only have weekends off and oneday a week..........I am looking at 2 weeks to get it done Sigh.

Well they were calling for a coating to a inch for today, well its only 8:30am and we are past the coating.  So maybe it will be like 2-4 inches.  Don't matter to me I'm off!!!!!

Well everybody have a goodone today.

Mornin all an irish coffee please Zoe. Cold start for here today but suppose to warm up to bout 40 and sunny. Now if the wind just lay, it'll be really nice out.

Mother's off all this week, so I've had a long list of honey-do's before our Thanks Giving doing's on Saturday.

Had a VA hearing test with an audiologist in Mattoon. Seems there isn't one at the Danville hospital anymore. Yes I'm hard of hearing. I made the doc go out n tell Mother. She say I'm just not listening to her.

JERRY,,,,, those kids are sure growing up anymore. Glad ya had a good b-day

COLBY,,,,,, Hope you enjoy your KC flight. I spent 2 ½ years flying and working on the EC and KC-135's. Hope you got to watch an in-flight refuel from the boom pod, their something to see.

JIM CG,,,,, we have problems with our insurance company paying too. Seems like they want to argue over every little thing.

PAUL,,,, the last set of meds the VA sent me, one of them had the wrong dosage on them. One of them the doc ordered never came so the doc had to re-order those.

Best gets round and finishing getting kids ready for the bus. Thoughts for all those in need an hope ya'll has a gooden.

Joy of Christmas Cards

woman walks into the Post Office to buy stamps for her Christmas cards.

"What denomination?" asks the clerk.

"Oh, good heavens! Have we come to this?" said the woman. "Well, give me 50 Baptist and 50 Catholic and one Methodist."

Sawyer, try holding a piece of tissue in front of the flash.

I noticed on the way in that regular gas is $1.60 here, Diesel is $1.99.

I finished one refer last night; I hope to finish off the other 6 tonight.  Pictures by this weekend.

Good morning.

It's 41 and clear. The high should be in the upper 60's and it will be partly cloudy. We got half an inch of rain yesterday along with a lot of lightning and thunder. I'd really prefer to get just the rain without the accompanying light and sound show.

Yesterday's project was to correct the problem with the lighting (lack thereof) of the Lakeside Shipping scene. It turned out to be a simple broken wire and was quickly repaired. While I was at it I reworked the scene a little. Having two buildings at the back of the scene has always bugged me because it made the area look too crowded. So I removed the tan building and moved the red brick building over into it's place. There's much more room now and it no longer looks like one of the buildings is trying to shove a tractor trailer off the scene. The revised scene can be seen at the bottom of this post.

Heartland Division CB&Q

Good evening ..

A pie fight, eh.

Der John ... Glad you like that old Bowser Northern Pacific 4-8-4.... My other two Bowsers are a 4-8-2 (lettered ATSF) and a Pennsy 4-4-4-4.  The NP model does not have added detail, but the others do have extra details.

I was running the Pennsy 4-4-4-4 today. It has two motors and weighs five pounds. It can haul any train I put behind it and go up any grade. It will climb the walls if needed. The prototype 4-4-4-4's were quite something. They could haul 25 heavyweight passenger cars at 100 mph with ease. Amazing machines!

Egad that wieghs more than a couple of my Lionel O gauge trains Thats a brute in HO

I am dropping in for a hot cider, please.  Put it on JR's tab, thankyou.

My sister is cooking up the Thanksgiving meal for the whole family again this year and my mother is getting her famous fruit salad ready. It's well soaked for a couple of days in peach schnapps. We can get stuffed and blitzed at the same time.Laugh

Jeff,  Your mother's salad recipe sounds yummy.  I assume that you don't serve it at the kids table.Laugh

der,  Great crane progress, and check out the NP loco.

Good evening Diners:  I began this yesterday afternoon, and have only now been able to finish it, Monday night! So, I’ll have a black tea and a toasted oatmeal bagel with cream cheese please, and join whoever’s in the corner booth, if you don’t mind.

Garry:  That Bowser looks great.  My train room was a little dark so I turned on a desk lamp, hope you don’t mind. Sure shows the details Wink

Sawyer: The maroon going purple with the flash is a surprise! Just shows what colour differences there are in the various spectra given off by light sources. Does you camera have a setting that allows you to switch between types of light sources, like incandescent , fluorescent, photo-flash, etc? My first digital did, but I haven’t found it on later ones. Maybe I should Shockread the manual!

RobbyP: tomorrow! Hope it’s a good one for you.

CapeJim: How were you planning on re-heating that roast?  Recommended safe practice (at any rate one that I’d recommend), is to slice what you need, and heat the slices in the gravy. That gravy needs to be about boiling, BTW before you pop in the slices. I know it lacks the “Ta Da” of a whole bird being carved at the table, but pretty much ensures the survival of the guests rather than the bacteria that grow while the large cold roast slowly re-heats in the oven.  They may get killed by the final heat, but the slow warm up gives them time to produce toxins that are heat resistant. For similar reasons any stuffing inside the bird needs to be got out of there before the thing cools down…are we too late for that one? My 2 cents

Sue: The “progress” on the layout may be smoke and mirrors.  Don’t forget that some of the photos I’ve show recently are from 1980s and 1990s era layouts! However, I do have a “Ta Da” about the container crane today…the power cable is assembled onto the boom and attached to both the control cabin and the spreader.  The machinery and hoist buildings are pretty much finished, and apart from touch up paint over the excess super glue, the boom is on the frame. The spreader, control cabin and the power cable are all independently position-able along the length of the boom, but I doubt I’ll actually do that often.

There’s some more support braces, and the boom hoist cables to do, then all the stairs and walks. You know all about that from the coaling tower!  I’m having a go at making my own railings and some of the stairs. I’m experimenting with etching brass sheet for the railings. Don’t know if it will work, but I think it’s worth a try.  I figure I can make a jig for producing stairs in quantity.  Depends on my ability to either cut slots in an aluminium bar accurately with a jeweller’s saw, or (idea came as I was typing) adapt a couple of hair combs to hold the treads equi-distant while the stringers are applied.  Should keep me busy!

Paul: Sorry too about the calf, and I know it's not the finacial loss that's the real bother, just why it happened, and what could be done to prevent a repeat.      Now it’s bed time yet again. Tomorrow there’s only a slight chance of doing anything on the layout as it’s back to the dentist.  A 20 minute appointment for a minor matter, but it’s “kiss the day goodbye” because of the travel time and the shopping that one has to do, making the most of the opportunity. Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.Angel

Evening Gang: Thanks for all the kind thoughts on the calf. Unfortunately it's a fact of ranching.

Sue the prices are down here.

Not much going on today. My doc visit checked out good. Mary Ann is going ot have another test and see a kidney doc. I lost 3 lbs so I'm on the right track. I just found out that the VA sent me the wrong drugs the last time they refilled. I didn't notice and have been taking a drug for itching that I was given a couple of years ago. Fortunately it is not a problem. Tomorrow I have to figure out what I'm supposed to have.

Well I think that I'll head for bed.
