Tall Eggnog, please & thanks.

***Lee/Sue, my wife agrees with you and thinks I should seal the tile after the contractor is gone. I already sealed the kitchen tiles (just the grout). We've also decided to buy the carpet direct ourselves. We just want him finished up and on his way.

***Jeffrey, Ezra's car looks sharp. Hope it doesn't bottom out going over RR tracks in town.

***Chuck, you have a lot to deal with these days. Very sorry to read such news. At least at 96, she had a long life and went peacefully.

***Paul, you must be Superman. Do take care of yourself as well.

***Todd, I'll be modeling a Soylent Green Plant and nobody here has locked the door when they see me approaching the Diner...yet. Welcome aboard.

***Luke, I enitrely understand the loss of a 4-legged friend, especially a horse. Special and unique animals with no two alike. You have my sympathies.

Almost 2:00am...sleep meds are finally kicking in. Night all. Cowboy Rob

Luke that is sad.  My condolences to your family.  A horse can be such an intelligent and loving animal.  Very easy to become so attached to them.  I know it will be missed.

My son and his wife (and daughter) were out shopping yesterday when he got a phone call from a neighbor that their 13 year old cat had been killed in the street in front of his house.  The neighbor was kind enough to put him in a bag so that they didn't have to see old Oliver that way.  The cat had a bad habit of sleeping in the middle of the road and this time didn't get out of the way quick enough I guess.  He was a strange old cat, but I got along well with him.

Chuck and Kathy: So sorry to hear about your mother, Chuck.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.  It’s always a shock even if expected, and 96 is a venerable age!  That peaceful end is also a relief. Thinking of Kathy too…batteries of tests can be gruelling.  Hope all those parts continue to work for you Your articulateds take a 10% grade? That’s impressive.

Garry, the snow plough video is great.  Kris enjoyed it too! I’m surprised more snow didn’t stick to the sides of those cars after the train went through!

Paul, our thoughts are with Mary Ann and yourself too.Angel

Ray: Enquiring minds need that cookie recipe! Looks good enough to eat LOL!

TMarsh: to the Diner.  You describe so well just why I hang here.  What are you presently doing with your gravel roads that isn’t turning out as well as you’d hoped? If you describe your technique, maybe we can pitch in a few ideas.  Looking at the road outside our place here, the non-trafficed parts are a seriously different colour than the travelled lane(s) The basic rock colour used here is grey, but the travelled gravel has turned a sandy brown with the fine silty mud resulting from the traffic. Also, what scale are you  modelling? I’ve found it best to go down a scale size for the stone used.  So when I was in HO, then N scale ballast looked better to me than the HO.      Thanks again for the track cleaning input folks.  Humidity is an issue on our fog bound coast. Putting in a de-humidifier isn’t a practical option however, as the train room door is nearly always open, and the house is in no way sealed against the ambient air.I know the problem isn’t from loose ballast; or from glue from the ballasting remaining on the track. It was vacuumed after ballasting, and the Gleam Method cleaning done after that. I may go over a section with the 1300 grit emery paper I use as the stage before burnishing in the Gleam process. I don’t think a Boy will be man enough for this job, however Bright it is!

Luke: Sorry about your relative’s horse, sad day, as you say. BTW,  smilies! Did you see this subtle hint as to Jim Davis’ possible mrr preferences?

Time for bed once again, where do the days go?

Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort, and peace.Angel

Hi folks, I'm Todd. Nice to meet you. Oh I'm sorry, just coffee please, black. Just figured out what this place was and thought I'd stop in and say hi. Chuck is it? I'm sorry to hear about your mother. Been off today and am having fits with dirt roads, can't seem to get 'em right. Banged HeadGuess I'll post a plea for help soon as I figure out how to put it. Also wanted to say this is one of the best forum groups I've been checkin' out. One other is pretty good, but you guys (non-gender spacific), seem to be the most laid back in respect to other peoples...um... railroad dreams shall I say? You really don't bark bite or turn up your nose at someone who "Freelances" and is not obsessed  with prototypically correct. You really give the feeling that there IS room for everyone in this hobby.  Well gotta go hope to talk to you soon.

Paul and Chuck; We will keep both your families in our prayers. Take care--all of you.

I just got back from work with a few 'Railroad Magazine' issues from 1947/1948. Quite a few of these have scratchbuilding articles in them. Don't be surprised if I throw odd bits in here from these mags.Whistling

Had a kid named Philip once when I taught music that I had to do that to all the time.  I once asked him how old he was when he realized his last name wasn't Don't?

Of course that wasn't his last name......IT'S MINE!

Dolittle raid: I don’t remember the name of the book, but it focused on a first person account from the plane called the “ruptured duck” .  I think by far the best book on the subject.  I read it in Jr high and I can still remember most of the book (scary I can remember the story line, but can’t find my car keys).

Yeah, that's Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo. Got mad einto a movie. Ted w. lawson was the author. I have the version where they censored out the names of the chinese doc and the villages, to protect the people in them, lest the Japanese get their hands on a copy of it.
