Evening Gang:
Gav see what happens when you try to be nice and compliment someone? Since I'm trying to lose some weight I'll be nice and pass with a cup of coffee.
John and I ran the steam loco today. His wife's family came over and rode and then one of our nices and her girls and my daughter and the granddaughter did some riding. We all had a good time and ran 6 trips. That is about 11 miles in all.
Tomorrow Mary Ann and I are going to the daughters house for turkey and all the fixings. John and his wife and the youngest granddaughter are going to her parents for dinner and then coming over to Lara's for late supper.
I got the January issue of MR today. I've been looking forward to it. Of course it is the 75th anneversary issue. I really was looking forward to the article on the building of the Beer Line layout. That is home terratory to me. Back in the far past three friends would head downtown Milwaukee and to 1027 N. 7th st to the officies of Kalmbach Pub Co. We got to know Mr Kalmbach, Paul Larsen, Gordy Odegard and the rest of the staff. That was real heady stuff to us teenagers. The best part is that we were treated well. Just like one of the gang.
Right now I have to get out of here and head for bed.
Good Night All
Good Evening Diners!
Happy Turkey Day to all of our southern neighbours and friends!! Remember that tomorrow all food is calorie and fat free so just enjoy! And by the way it is perfectly acceptable and indeed necessary to fall asleep after a turkey dinner so just nod off smiling contentedly.
Not much news here. Luckily Winterpeg hasn't been living up to its reputation so far year as it has been just below freezing all week and there really is hardly more an an inch or so snow on the ground.
I'm still working on ballasting my service yard. I tried several glue/water/alcohol mixtures and find that Jeff's method of soaking first with straight alcohol works the best. I have the engine house all in place but need a few more Caboose ground throws before I can finish up and likely more cinder ballast. I find I can't work too long on it as my back gets sore bending over the table which is quite low at 32" but it couldn't be higher than the book case/ room divider it sits beside. The CEO sets the asthetic values around here and I was just happy she agreed to the table at all.
I too have noticed how many November birthdays there have been in the Diner, mine amongst them. Wonder what it is about November? Jim, aren't you a psychologist? You could do a study on it.
Have a great day tomorrow and I hope everyone is healthy and happy.

Tall glass of cool lemon water, please & thanks!
***Jeffrey, do you take you BP at home, too? That "action shot" with the locos headlights on is very cool.
***Paul, I envy your live steam runs. That would be so much fun, (except perhaps for the amount of maintenance on one of those locos?).
I am thankful for my life, not so much the condition of this body. Although not ready to start digging the inevitable hole in the ground just yet, sure wish I could change the speed and direction in which it is heading that-a-way. Could always be much worse...like a life without model trains. Oh yea, very thankful for my wife & extended 4-legger family.
Have a WONDERFUL THANKS GIVING, Y'ALL. Rob

Happy Turkey Day! It's 58 and cloudy. The high is expected to be in the mid 70's and there's a chance of rain. I got the pedestrian bridge leveled yesterday. The next step now is to spray it down with Matte-Finish (outdoors of course) to get rid of the gloss. I talked with my niece in Colorado (younger sister's daughter) last night. She can't believe her son is already a year old. Next thing she knows he'll be walking down the aisle. Next I talked with her mother in Pennsylvania. She and her other half are working to get the farm house they recently bought into shape and expect to be in it by Christmas. It's near Newport on the edge of the Little Buffalo State Park. From the photos I've seen it's a very nice looking house. My mother says it looks like a typical Pennsylvania farm house. Today's Weather for: Sundown, LA 71446-6114 11/27/2008 Wind Chill: 58°F Humidity: 95% Dew Point: 57°F So Far Today High: 58°F Low: 56°F Rain: 0.00" Rain Rate: 0.00"/h Gust: 5mph S Today High: 75 Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of showers in the morning...then a chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 70s. South winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent. Tonight Low: 62 Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms. Lows in the lower 60s. Southwest winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Mornin' everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
The bird has been in the oven for almost 3 hours now, starting to smell good in the house.
Philip that is a sketch.... Love it.
Paul, live steam and a thanksgiving dinner........ What a way to spend the Holiday! All I get to do is run some 1/87 sized ones today. I think the USRA 2-6-6-2 will get some work on the mainline!
My sister from South Bend arrived a little after 10PM last night so it was midnight before we got to bed around here. Got up at 6:30 to start the stuffing and get the Turkey ready fro the oven. The rest of the family should be arriving a little after noon.
Currently 35°F here in the Finger Lakes with a high around 38°F this afternoon. Some clouds, but a nice day all around.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day. If you are traveling today, be safe!

Diners, and a very for our neighbours to the South.
Jerry: Eggnog, now that’s a great idea. Haven’t seen any in the stores yet. Curiously, at any rate I think it curious, Hot Cross buns appeared in the supermarket bakery section about a month ago, and are still an item, so they must be selling. I associate those only with Easter-time.
Better make sure the windows at the A/C end of that bridge don’t open or your passengers / railfans will be swept away!
"There are always alternatives, Captain" - Spock.
Afternoon Gang: I'm just stopping in between chores. We had breakfast over at the daughters this morning. It was a late breakfast so Mary Ann and I went out to What A Berger for an early snack. When we got back home from the daughters I went down and grubed some more in the field. I had to redo some stumps that didn't get completely out the first time. We'll head back to the daughters in a couple of hours.
Well the right margin is gone again. Funny everything was fine for the last week.
I've got about an hour untill we have to go back so I think I'll grab a little nap.

in a AT&SF mug, please & thank you.
Had a nice dinner with the wifes parents tonight. Plenty of leftovers for another meal or two.
Gave a second coat to that door I re-painted last night, then touched up another door they missed spots on, then painted two entire walls on the outside of the new screened porch, plus an end where another door & window is I put in recently. Needed to finish this us, as the tile folks will be here in the morning. Then I set about a dozen posts in quickcrete for the "wife's new fence" (that came out wrong, didn't it...) Cleaned the barn, did some hay rounds, the usual stuff. I'm beat.

BUMP!!..........Jerry
Evening Gang: We had a great time at our daughters. I spent some time with the middle one in her book nook under the stairs. That is a room that is used for storing the vacumn and some cleaning things and has a shelf for her books and a matress for naps. It's really nice a she likes it. I also got to play with the youngest one. She's 11 months. There was pleanty of food and I did not stuff myself. I had a glass of wine and a little of ham and turkey. I'm going to watch myself and really try and loose some weight.
Rob you need to slow down a bit. Your even making me look lazy. I did some more on the mesquite field. I grubed out some more stumps and a couple of plants I missed. I also loaded up three buckets of stuff and hauled it to the burn pile. That pile is getting big. I hope that it rains tonight so I can burn it tomorrow.
Well I'm off to bed.
Good morning. It's 67 and cloudy with fog. The high should be in the mid 70's and there's a chance of rain.Spent part of the day yesterday at my sisters place for Thanksgiving. We had other family members there as well as some of the neighbors and some good friends. As usual she cooked enough for a small army. Turkey, glazed ham, green beans, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes with gravy, baked beans, potato salad, deviled eggs, pies of many flavors, several cakes, tropical fruit salad with peach schnapps. There was more but I didn't look at everything. By the time I left there I could hardly walk. Only thing that was done on the layout was to spray the pedestrian bridge with Matte-Finish to kill the gloss.Today's Weather for:Sundown, LA 71446-6114 11/28/2008Wind Chill: 67°FHumidity: 100%Dew Point: 67°FSo Far TodayHigh: 67°FLow: 66°FRain: 0.00"Rain Rate: 0.00"/hGust: 6mph SSWNow through 07:00 AM CST November 28, 2008Isolated showers tracking rapidly northeast at 25 mph will Advance across the northern portions of Tyler...Jasper and Newton counties of interior southeast Texas. Nice morning here Had my frozen Turkey yesterday but could only taste the Mashed Potatoes

I am lucky Some folks loose their saliva also but I retained mine
Hope to run some trains today What about you ?
Good day gang!
Sorry I haven't been on alot as of late, but I'm tryin to get the house in order before I head to Iowa and Julie's house in 2 weeks to help her pack it for the movers to come and drive the stuff here. Yes gang, we are really going to do this. Her kids are all excited about this major event in their lives and so are Julie and I.
Anyways, I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving Day yesterday. I know I did, eventhough it was a some what sad one since Julie and I were not together for it. My brother and his wife decided to have the feast at their house and had all of my family over, as well as most of her family. In all, there was close to 45 of us! My brother put on one of the best meals I've had in a while.
Well gang, I have to get my house cleaned up. My mom is going to bring my sister, and a few other relatives over to see my house.
Have a good day.
Take care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
