PC, can you smell the pumpkin PIE yet? (That'll perk up PC's ears...)
Nope! Can't smell 'em when they're in my belly!
Thanks for all of the cake guys!!! Well lets see, mostly just sat around the house, and went to the hobby store. Just got some scenic stuff. Since the sale there was going to be Fri, and Sat. The lady let me have the 15% off today. Saved me about $3.00. Hey its money saved.
ON THE OTHER HAND!!!
The heat guy came today. He was talking about putting up a heat pump in the attic. Total...............$6,200.
The wife will call and see if they dont have a cheaper system. Also see about ther finance. I hope its not to much for that much. I'm not paying another car payment for heat. We already have 2 of them (cars).
Well its cold, and night time. I guess a few more hours and its bed time.
Everybody have a good night
"Rust, whats not to love?"
Evenin' all!
Hey Flo, is that pecan pie on the shelf??? Sneak me a piece of that and a cup of decaf if you would.
Jim......... 4AM?????????? Like in the morning??? I make it a point every year to avoid shopping anywhere the day after Thanksgiving. If I am out of something, it will just have to wait. 4AM?????
Had my visit with the doctor today and even though my total cholesterol is within the normal range because I am Diabetic (Diet controlled) he wants it lower. So I am now officially old and have been put on a statin drug (Not sure which one as I can't read his writing...) to help keep it in line and lower the LDL level which are higher than he wanted.
Jeffrey I like your new industry. What will manufacturers think of next. Cool idea!
OK, Back to cleaning!
Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO
We'll get there sooner or later!
If I'm not to late, might I say HAPY BIRTHDAY ROBBY, THE WEATHERING MASTER!!!
Well, I've gotten it so that I need to buy zero switches for my layout now, added one industry, and got the small town pretty much planned out.

I'm with you! I'll pay to NOT have to get up at that hour!
4 am? That's about what time I usually get up.
jeffrey-wimberly 4 am? That's about what time I usually get up.
Sometimes my cats wake me up about that time, but only if that guy with the chain saw at night scares them......... I then usually roll over and take about a 5 hour nap! Ah, retirement is great!

Until the drag race down the street breaks it up. No rest for the street racers, lol. Might have PC's wife's camaro in that, lol.
find the benchracers...
Around here they tend to take the cars away. then they find the concession roads heeheehee.
Evening Gang: Not much doing today. I went out to Clark Gardens today to pick up some posters for the Christmas festival. When I go there they were working on the light tree at the front entrance. I spent about 3hrs helping them on it. It's about 20ft using the flag pole for the sujpport. A nice small project since the one we did at Six Flags was 250ft high.
I got the latest monthly sale catalogue from Walthers today. They are bring out taper side ore cars like the old Roundhouse cars that I've been searching for. The cars will be in 12 packs for $169 a set. I have to keep on the good side of the folks out at Clark Gardens since they will order stuff for me at cost. I guess I'll still look for the old Roundhouse cars if I can get a good price.
Rob a very happy birthday to you. That does sound like a pretty price for that heat pump. There has to be a less expensive way.
Der that container crain is beautifull. I see the inspection boat at the dock wall. It seems to be empty. Did Lee and Fergie fall in?
Well I am going to hit the sack.
Good Night All
If all goes well, I could start “cutting metal” as early as tomorrow. I’ve just about everything on hand, and have figured out end runs around certain materials shortages. Wish me luck!
Good evening... (didn't Alfred Hitchcock use this line?)
Gav, since the bags were in the luggage hold, it's good that the airlines didn't have their trained gorilla crew unloading your bags
And will you be able to fit in a LHS trip on the way back from your dentist visit?
But I follow the five-second rule on food, too.
Paul, I think Lee must be below, checking the chart! Last I saw of Fergie he was taking home a very nice model of a yard light…and since he told us of a certain embargo, I won’t mention the construction material.
"There are always alternatives, Captain" - Spock.
Evening, Chloe - just a cup of hot cocoa, please.
Ray, I'm debating about going by our LHS (in-town) on Friday OR Saturday (even though I have a 20 percent off coupon from them for those days), and it's not even anywhere near any mall (neither the big enclosed one nor any of the big strip malls in the area)! I'm with you about laying low on that Friday or Saturday of the year.
howmus I then usually roll over and take about a 5 hour nap! Ah, retirement is great!
Sawyer, sounds like some good planning on your part. When can we expect a picture of the plan? (Hint, hint...)
Jeff, were you ever a farmer? I know they get up around 4 (or 5) a.m. sometimes, but I thought that or night shift people who were still working, were the only people up about then.
Aw, Gav - your photo of PC's big win didn't show up. Shoot! As for 4 a.m. being 'the quiet time,' have you ever seen the Friday after Thanksgiving in the States? Not very quiet at all...
As for the street racers, I usually sleep pretty soundly, so I must be missing them if they're around my neighborhood.
Uh, Blownout Cylinder - explain benchracers for me, haven't heard of them around here yet, either. (I have heard about street racers (and not too far away, and have seen some tire/rubber marks a little bit away from my place).
I'll get back to my cocoa and sit for a bit. Might go for some of Robby's birthday cake, since there's a little left. Ah, Chloe, I see I have the dessert, late night and early breakfast tab, apparently. Well, let me know in the morning what the total runs, please.
Blessings and a good night's rest,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Jim; benchracers is/was a term used to 'label' people quite heavily into hot rods and such.
A friend of mine rebuilds/restores musclecars from the 60's-70's and various drag cars from the same era...
There seems to be quite a few rubberburners down our way...
Jim
strange that as it's up when I look anyone else cant see it ? let me know and I'll repost
I must've missed something. Is Thanksgiving on the 25th or on the final Thursday of Nov. or...?
Being up here one sorta loses something in the mix...
Blownout---
Thanksgiving is the last Thursday in November around these here parts. Which puts it on the 28th this year. And out here in California, the schoolkids aren't supposed to put on Pilgrim/Indian pageants anymore because they're considered 'racist.'
Ah, 'tis fun! However, 'Cinco de Mayo' is a BIG holiday in this state. Of course, you can ask five Mexican-Americans what the holiday stands for, and four of them will have no idea at all.

PC WINS THE DINER PIE EATING CONTEST
Evening all.
I am enjoying my five day weekend for thanksgiving. Can't wait for the day itself, with the food, but mainly for...
DALLAS COWBOYS vs. Seattle Seahawks
Kickoff 1:15 PDT, 4:15 EDT. Don't know who I'm routing for? Then you don't know me, or haven't seen my avatar... Fun thing is I live in Seattle, and all of my friends are saying "You guys are goin' down" I just sit and laugh, because I know the Seahawks aren't doing too well anymore.
My modular railroad is going to be set up at the LHS until christmas, setup tommorow, trains start running friday... Can't wait for that either.
On the flip side, I can't fit into my size 13.5 shoes anymore. The 14s will follow... Oh joy...
Oh, funny pic time.
Yum, marshmellows.

Good morning. It's 40 and partly cloudy. The expected high will be around 70 and partly cloudy. There's a small chance of rain tonight and it may start getting ugly on turkey day.Yesterday's layout work involved shuffling a couple of structures around and doing some general maintenance. Amazing how long that can take when you're having fun at it. I'm in the process of getting ready for a doctors appointment this morning. General physical time again. And a good morning to everyone. Hopefully SOMEONE has some sun their way. We have a cloud dump up here...
Lee; All I know about this cinco business is that it was/is not related to Crisco. So ...
And I'll have some of that Rhubarb Apple crisp with my morn. coffee thankyou...
Good Morning All,
I'll have a regular to go and a donut in a poke please Zoe.
Happy Birthday Robby - hope you get a better break on the heat pump - that sounded a bit dear, no?
It was about 30F with black ice from last nights rain at 4am when I got going this morning. Been to Tarrytown and back to drop a trailer for a customer so we could beat the rush. Even at 4 the traffic headed to NYC was already heavy.
Benchracers - from the those that can do, those who can't talk about it. In other words, we race cars and the guys who want to but either never get to it or haven't the where-with-all to do it sit on benches and talk about how they'd do it. In other words they race benches. Probably cheaper but definitely not as much fun.
Street racers - here we back up to a public park with a very straight wide road and from spring on they race there at night. Usually the rice rockets and Hondaboys. The new chief takes a dim view of it all and has kept a police presence in the park at night which has cut things down a lot. In the old days, we'd get fed up at around three am and call the police to ask if they'd at least send over someone to award the trophies .
Well, time to get back in the saddle and get after the days jobs. CUL, J.R.
A thought for Thanksgiving......................
One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.
They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, 'How was the trip?'
'It was great, Dad.'
'Did you see how poor people live?' the father asked.
'Oh yeah,' said the son.
'So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?' asked the father.
The son answered:
'I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.
We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.
Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.'
The boy's father was speechless.
Then his son added, 'Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.'
Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.
Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends!
JimRCGMO Uh, Blownout Cylinder - explain benchracers for me, haven't heard of them around here yet, either. (I have heard about street racers (and not too far away, and have seen some tire/rubber marks a little bit away from my place).
It's kinda the racing worlds equivalent of the armchair quarterback.
