Jim- H-L’s 30% off on train stuff is this week, Dec 29th thru Jan 3 Picked up a few things. Now by golly I just went to the website to make sure , and they don’t show anything. But I got the weekly E-mail from H-L last Sunday I think it was and it said 30% off all train stuff, except train sets. I went in Monday and picked up some stuff and it was 30% off. Best call ‘em. I don’t know what’s up.

I went out to Clark Gardens yesterday and lo and behold the E-7s for the Hiawatha set were there. They a beautiful locomotives. Now I need to get the layout cleared off so I can give them a run. The next are the super dome and the Sky Top lounge then the set will be complete. It’s been a long year + wait.
I see that it’s getting light so I’d better get going. I have to put out hay and I’ll also give the cattle some range cubes. My new method is to dump a bag or two into the bucket of the loader and pour them out while I back up, that works better then trying to avoid getting trampled while pouring them out of the sack.
Temp yesterday was 80f, supposed to be around that today and tomorrow back to winter high of maybe 40f with rain.

It's a nice seasonable 26°F outside right now in the Finger Lakes. A few little white things falling out of the sky at the moment but not supposed to amount to anything.
I will be leaving soon to drive to Richester for a Lakeshores Division NFR NMRA Committee meeting. I have managed to put a half dozen good people who are all hard workers together to get busy on some division activities. Hopefully it will be a good and productive meeting.
Got an e-mail from Kappler last night that some scale lumber I need to complete a project is in the mail to me....... YES!

Well, had a busy Friday--had to play a Memorial Mass in the morning for a Deputy Sheriff--never played a Police funeral before, it was pretty darned impressive. And LONG! Then I met with Jim's widow and the Priest at their Parish to plan out his Memorial Mass. The Priest immediately let us know what music was appropriate and IN-appropriate for his parish. I mentioned that Jim had been a classical conductor all of his life and the Priest brushed it away with "This is what we allow and you have to abide by it." Which kind of stunned me, as at my own Parish, we're allowed to use whatever music the family prefers (within reason, of course). We finally talked the Priest into allowing a short choral work by Mozart for Presentation of Gifts, but other than that, he insisted that we go by their music or not at all. So some former members of Jim's choir are getting together at my place to rehearse Mozart's "Ave Verum Corpus" this Monday evening. I'm still stunned at the fact that with all of the great 'classical' religious works running around that this particular Priest insists on going by a set of rules that don't make much sense at all. Oh well, it's not MY Parish----
As we left, I asked Kay "Is he like this all the time?" Kay just shrugged and said "All the time." I don't think that's a Parish that I would enjoy very much.
Well, it's Zoo time, Remington just hopped up on the computer desk and is staring at me, while Spooky is in the doorway meowing. Which means--FOOD, Daddy!

Good morning. At least for 37 minutes. We got a late start. Larry didn't get in until 3:30, so I tried to be quiet. I put together a vegetable beef soup that I plan to make dumplings in for a late lunch when we get back in from moving wood into the woodshed from our pile in the lower field.
We got another dusting of snow yesterday and today. When will it end.

My stereotyped mental image of people living in cold country is that they crank up their house thermostats to 80 degrees and don't venture outside unless they're packaged in a survival suit.
A friend of a friend is visiting central California from Calgary. She has frequently complained of the cold here in central California where the lows have been in the mid-thirties with the highs in the 50s. (I find this weather to be wonderful as long as the wind don't blow and the sun shines.) Asked how cold it was when she left Calgary, she said minus 20 degrees Celsius. Isn't that about minus 10 Fahrenheit!? I justed checked the current temperature there, and it is minus four Fahrenheit now.
Mark, happy as a clam with a current indoor temperature of 64.
