I'm up doing the morning coffee thing before I head out to teach.
We've got the wacky weather going on here, just like many of the rest of you.
Today: A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly before 1pm. Areas of dense fog before 1pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a temperature up to 54, then falling to around 41 by 5pm. West wind between 14 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. Northwest wind between 5 and 10 mph.
After that, it's rain, snow, sleet, and general nastiness as far as the eye can see!
I figure that this week I can redo the garage to make room to start another project. I've got the makings of a hot tub, so I think I'll hang the bikes from the ceiling and move some stuff around so I've got room to get that project underway. Should be an interesting project s I've never built one of those before!
Oh, and I've noticed some new faces around here lately. Sorry I missed ya the first time around, but how 'bout this for a welcome?

For the record...Tick Dip, at least the edible variety is not something you want to scrub over your flea infested dog. Rather, it is a concoction of cheese, hot sausage, ground beef and salsa that is melted into some of the best chip dipping stuff you will ever taste!

Morning folks, yes, rain again...so much so that my back deck planks are starting to grow nice little rows of algae and I slipped and fell yesterday morning with a thin layer of ice on it....yikes!
Anywho.....I cobbled together another video short, this time from the Smoky Mountain Trains Museum that we toured just prior to our train ride on the GSMRR excursion the day after Thanksgiving.

We're having lots of weather here in the Finger Lakes as well. Right now we are having something we like to call sunshine..... We don't see it around here often, but when we do we enjoy it. Later today it will become mostly cloudy, then we get rain and freezing rain tonight with a sprinkling of snow showers tomorrow. Hey Philip, keep your weather where you live! We got enough of our own here!
My sister in Indiana just got home from visiting her daughter and family in Florida. The stewardess had this to say upon arrival in South Bend: "Welcome to the North Pole where the temperature is 50 degrees: 25 in the morning and 25 in the evening!" Then she added, "This plane is doing a half-hour turn-around to go back to Sanford-Orlando Airport in case any of you have changed your mind......"

Got two of my Grandsons here breaking in that table I made for the GEO track train set. Worked out great and showed me right off the bat that landscape would be a waste of time.
I'll preserve that energy for "My" model train set! (which I need to get started on some ideals for that project.

I know....I know....but I thought we got a lot of rain when we lived in New Orleans....my water logged self is not used to all this moisture in the Piedmont! The drought officially ended in the middle of summer, the lakes are overflowing now! Feast or famine I suppose...

Hey, Velveeta is all good, nothing wrong with that stuff at all! In fact I've made many a queso with the soft block cheese. I kinda admire it like I do duct tape, it has 1,000's of uses in the culinary world.
Ahhh lunch time. I will take a double cheese burger, and a Dr.Pepper.
Tick dip, now that sounds good. I have tried to melt the block or even half of the velveeta, and can't. I guess I am doing something wrong. Thats why I normally buy the stores dip.
I am taking it easy today. Watch some football, and just be a stump on the log.

I'm struggling to be upbeat here today, working at staying cheerful. But it is hard sledding.
For those of you complaining about the weather let me make you feel better. On my way to work this morning the thermometer in my truck said it was -35c, the radio said it was -37c and with the wind chill it was -51c. Of course my truck was plugged in and started but was it ever stiff. Left it running for awhile but it really didn't want to move very well. I doubt that we will have any visitors or tours here today but we are here in case they do show up.
CN Charlie and Kevin (BlueHills) I hope you guys are in good shape (warmth wise) and staying out of the weather. Boy this has been a long spell. Over two weeks of this sharp cold is definatly long enough. I have lots of snow to move as well but I am waiting for it to get a lirttle milder. We were really relieved to hear that two of my sons got home alright last night through the cold. One was going to Spokane, Wa. and the other was going to Grande Prairie, Ab., affter a holiday visit. Not good driving weather although I did lots of it through out my career. Another son is on the road today , Bus driving for the Prov. bus company.
The laughable saying over the years about our cold weather was "Yeah, but it is a dry cold". But lately the humidity has been above 80% some days, so it really does bite.
Looking forward to some days off this week to get down and dirty in the train room. So much work to do I hardly no where to start, so sometimes I don't get much done and just run trains.
Sounds like everyone has had a very good Christmas and New Years. Prayers and Blessing to all in need,especially thinking about Jerry and Sally right now.

Well, I was right about the chargers Colts game. MAN, WHAT A GAME!!!! I knew Darin Sproles was going to be a big factor, and he was, scored the winning TD, and did a good job all night. And the kicker is I'm 5 and a half inches taller than him.
Good games on today, I'm probably going to pull for the Dolphins, just b/c, well, they're a goods tory. I want either San diego or Pittsburgh to win it all though (Steelers are cool, and Big ben is a class act).

Finally curiosity got the best of me...and I see its the "hang out" thread. Duh.
Well, now we'll see if my ability to be the last guy to post to a thread, holds true. I think I'm safe in this case, however.

Ditto. I used to hate the Falcons b/c of Michael Vick, and the Carolina Panthers for a stupid reason, now I don't care about them either way, lol. I pull for the chargers b/c they're a class act. The packers I now pull for b/c I love them, the reason I started loving them: Brett Favre.

Naw, you're not "The Topic Killer". I will warn you though.....we'll probably be moving down the tracks to a new diner soon. We're starting to drag a lot of pages around and we don't want to bog down the whole forum. We usually end up moving about twice a year.

Phil, I used to when I lived at the house with the 16x20 den. Nothing fancy, basic layout. I just liked to sit back and watch them run, never big on operation. Just mesmorizing.... relaxation. Trying to figure out how to run the AC6000's and 9-44's in a 10x8 bedroom. Not to mention the alternate theme, 6-10 car passenger trains pulled by E-7's, 8's or steamers for the heavyweights. Guess it is time to go 4 axle and play switching mindgames. Right now I have trains on the wall and in boxes. Those passenger trains take up a lot of wall space.
