I have always been a freelancer (since 1974, anyway) and I am NOT AFTRAID of rivet counters. I have great respect for them. Most of the rivet counters I have encountered are well educated and probably designers, engineers, model makers, etc. Good for them. I am not all that well educated although I do have an Associate Degree in Law. I also have trouble drawing a straight line even with a ruler (my thumb gets in the way). I just don't care for the rivet counters that tell me how I should build my road. To paraphrase a commercial on TV "It's my road and I want it MY way!!"
