Has email notification of replies to posts in a thread gone awry? I have had email notification checked in my profile for the whole time I've been a member here, and over the last few days I've not gotten any notifications. And yes, it is still checked in my profile for me to receive email notifications.

Jack and others,

I'm not sure what it is that's causing this glitch.  From what I've been able to observe, it's only affecting part of the forum membership.

I used to receive e-mail notifications whenever someone sent me a PM or an e-mail.  I haven't received any notifications in a couple of months, yet I have been getting PMs.  (I just check them regularly via the Private Message link.)  When I actually to receive the notifications, they come in large bunches at a time.

Crandell (selector) and I have been discussing this very issue privately today.  We both have the exact same check boxes ticked in the E-mail Options portion of our profile page, yet Crandell regularly receives e-mail notifications and I don't. Confused [%-)]  This will be something that we'll have to bring up to Erik (Bergie), to see if Kalmbach's IT department can come up with any possible reasons for the problem.

I'll keep you posted...

Tom

Edit I: After some thought, I decided to unlock the thread.  If you are or have been experiencing problems receiving e-mail notifications, please add your name to the list below by posting a simple acknowledgmentNo long explanations are necessary.  A simple "yes" will suffice quite nicely.  Thank you.  I'm just trying to get an idea how many forum members are affected by this.

IMPORTANT information below.  Please read carefully BEFORE posting:

BEFORE posting your acknowledgment, please double-check to make sure that one or more of the Yes buttons in the E-mail Options of your profile page is ticked on.  If they haven't been, correct them to receive the notification but do NOT reply or add your name to this list.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Edit II: Be sure to check your receiving e-mail junk mail folders to see if the wayward notifications are there.

Me too.

Off topic:  Went to the Giants game today and there was an electronic banner informing the fans that our catcher, Bengie Molina, is so tough that he stands in front of freight trains.  Once maybe...

I stopped getting e-mails for Posts last night -- the last one was for "Dodged a Bullet, uhh, Tornado...Off Topic!" - okiechoochoo's post on 4-12-2008 at 3:15 AM. Nothing after that!!  (Oopps!! Had to edit Last Post and Time -  instead of "WPF - Art Hill's post on 4-11-2008 at 2:56 PM")

I just checked my profile and the "Enable Email Notifications of replies to your posts" box was checked - I then unchecked it and rechecked the "Enable Email..." Also, I tried to reset the individual thread's "Notify" button by unlighting the "Notify" box and then closing the thread. Then I reopened it and reclicked the "Notify" button. I'll see if that changes anything and let you know!!

I don't have this problem, however I will offer some insight for those who do.

Perhaps you guys should check your junkmail boxes.  Sometimes the spam filters on the email servers and email clients (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc) are a little too 'gung-ho' in their filtering.  A solution to this could be to set up a delivery rule for the email address(es) that is (are) used to send notifications.  User-defined filters generally run BEFORE the internal junkmail filters (at least in Thunderbird), so you still get your message because the junk filters only run on "inbox" and your new delivery rule moves it before the junk filter has a chance to.

Apparently, I stopped getting email notifications at least 5 days ago as I had an unread one from the 7th for which I had not received notification.

Me either--I usually get an AOL notification of a PM from another forum member, but not lately.  Checked my PM's the other day and hopefully got caught up.  As my Uncle Jim the Rodeo bronc-buster used to say, "There must be a Hitch in the Git-a-long, there, somewheres."

Mine stopped a few days ago, the night that Tom temporarily locked the "What do you look like" thread. Twenty-four hours later, my inbox was flooded. It seems to be stopping, then coming in big batches now.

I received notification that a member two or three nights ago, sent me a (second) PM but I couldn't access it, if that helps troubleshooting... I sent him a PM to let him know that I couldn't access his message (but maybe he hasn't seen it either).
